Full Text of ReadingsTuesday of the Fourth Week of Easter Lectionary: 280The Saint of the day is Our Lady of FatimaThe Story of Our Lady of Fatima Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children–Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos–received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Mary asked the children to pray the rosary for world peace, for the end of World War I, for sinners, and for the conversion of Russia. Mary gave the children three secrets. Following the deaths of Francisco and Jacinta in 1919 and 1920 respectively, Lucia revealed the first secret in 1927. It concerned devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The second secret was a vision of hell. When Lucia grew up she became a Carmelite nun and died in 2005 at the age of 97. Pope John Paul II directed the Holy See's Secretary of State to reveal the third secret in 2000; it spoke of a “bishop in white” who was shot by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows into him. Many people linked this vision to the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square on May 13, 1981. The feast of Our Lady of Fatima was approved by the local bishop in 1930; it was added to the Church's worldwide calendar in 2002. Reflection The message of Fatima is simple: Pray. Unfortunately, some people—not Sister Lucia—have distorted these revelations, making them into an apocalyptic event for which they are now the only reliable interpreters. They have, for example, claimed that Mary's request that the world be consecrated to her has been ignored. Sister Lucia agreed that Pope John Paul II's public consecration in St. Peter's Square on March 25, 1984, fulfilled Mary's request. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith prepared a June 26, 2000, document explaining the “third secret.” Mary is perfectly honored when people generously imitate her response “Let it be done to me as you say” (Luke 1:38). Mary can never be seen as a rival to Jesus or to the Church's teaching authority, as exercised by the college of bishops united with the bishop of Rome. Click here for more on Our Lady! Send us a textOn June 13, 1929, Sister Lucia of Fatima received a mystical vision that revealed the true depth of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. As she knelt alone in adoration, the chapel was filled with supernatural light: the Cross, the Precious Blood, the Eucharist, and Our Lady of Fatima appeared above the altar in a moment of profound spiritual power. This Holy Thursday, we reflect on that vision—and what it unveils about the Mass, the Eucharist, and how heaven comes to us at every altar. The Catholic Church teaches that the Mass is Calvary made present, and Sister Lucia's experience confirms this in a breathtaking way.Whether you've followed us through Lent or are just joining, this reflection invites you to see the Eucharist with new eyes—and to welcome Jesus with renewed reverence.Support the showSupport this show and get all future episodes by email atwww.kenandjanelle.com
Even those blessed with heavenly visions must work toward holiness. Sister Lucia, known for her strong will and impatience, recognized her faults and made a conscious effort to overcome them. In this episode, Barb Ernster and Katie Moran discuss Lucia's personal self-examination, where she identified struggles with pride, self-love, lack of charity, and spiritual discipline. Her honest reflection serves as a guide for us, especially during Lent, to examine our own weaknesses and grow in virtue. Through her journey, we learn that holiness is not given but earned through daily sacrifice, humility, and surrender to God's will.

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”This is a supplement and interim update: How to face the overwhelming moral complexities of our time. Re-air from 9/5/23 Today, Father Anthony has a few letters to read and reflect on what is going on in the world. The first letter is from Sister Lucia dos Santos to her nephew talking about the worry of the diabolical things happening in the world. After the break, Father Anthony reads to us the original letter he wanted to start the show off with, a letter from Pope Saint Pius X. St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish
In this episode of Fatima Today, hosts Barb Ernster and Katie Moran explore the significant moment on May 30, 1930, when Sister Lucia learned the divine reason behind the Five First Saturdays devotion. Join us as we reflect on the historical context, the profound message revealed by Our Lord, and the ongoing importance of this devotion in today's world. Through prayers, discussions, and historical insights, discover how this practice can deepen our faith and commitment to Our Lady's call.
"I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the Abyssess of Hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence. The devils were full of hatred." (Faustina's Diary, #741). The scenes were horrible, monstrous, "the shrieks and groans" terrifying...You no longer have to visit Hell to hear the demons. The demons are amongst us. Sister Lucia of Fatima wrote, "The last great battle between Our Lord and Satan is over Marriage and the Family." Speak of Marriage, the Family, Selfless Love and you will be attacked! Marriage—a sacred union reflecting Christ's love for the Church—comes into focus as Linda and Jack unpack St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body, #90. The symbolism isn't just for theologians; it's a blueprint for mutual and selfless love that challenges and enriches our understanding of submission. Our talk bridges the theoretical with the tangible, providing solace for those standing firm in their personal beliefs amidst a sea of societal pressures. Linda and I invite listeners, regardless of their relationship status, to ponder the transformative influence of sacrificial love in their own lives.Follow us on X: John Paul II Renewal @JP2RenewalCatch up with the latest on our website: jp2renew.orgSign up for our Newsletter!! As evil continues to accelerate to insane levels in our Country, and in our beloved Church, it can become overwhelming. Yet just at this point you also begin to notice the increasing number of truth seekers, using their God-given reason to guide them, beginning to be drawn to Jesus Christ!Jesus answered and said..."Now is the time of judgement on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. and when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself" (John 12:30-32). This episode ventures deep into the heart of the final confrontation prophesied by Sister Lucia of Fatima, unveiling the nature of an "anti-creation" that seeks to dismantle the divine order. We stand at the precipice, urging the faithful to hold steadfast in their convictions in the face of relentless opposition and societal upheaval. In a world where deception often masquerades as truth, we celebrate the power of genuine faith and the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. This episode doesn't just analyze the clash between truth and lies – it's a rallying call to allow your own heart to be transformed and then to "Go out"... for active community engagement and the transformative power of living out the virtues inspired by the crucified and risen Christ. Friends of the Rosary: We remember today the sixth apparition of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fatima, Portugal. It took place on September 13, 1917, and this is how Sister Lucia, one of the three shepherds described it in her memoirs [Fourth Memoir (1941-12-08)]: "As the hour approached, I set out with Jacinta and Francisco, but owing to the crowds around us we could only advance with difficulty. The roads were packed with people, and everyone wanted to see us and speak to us. There was no human respect whatsoever. Simple folk, and even ladies and gentlemen, struggled to break through the crowd that pressed around us. No sooner had they reached us than they threw themselves on their knees before us, begging us to place their petitions before Our Lady. Others who could not get close to us shouted from a distance: — For the love of God, ask Our Lady to cure my son who is a cripple! Yet another cried out: — And to cure mine who is blind! — To cure mine who is deaf! — To bring back my husband, my son, who has gone to the war! — To convert a sinner! — To give me back my health as I have tuberculosis! and so on. All the afflictions of poor humanity were assembled there. Some climbed up to the tops of trees and walls to see us go by, and shouted down to us. Saying yes to some, giving a hand to others and helping them up from the dusty ground, we managed to move forward, thanks to some gentlemen who went ahead and opened a passage for us through the multitude. Now, when I read in the New Testament about those enchanting scenes of Our Lord's passing through Palestine, I think of those which Our Lord allowed me to witness, while yet a child, on the poor roads and lanes from Aljustrel to Fatima and on to the Cova da Iria! I give thanks to God, offering Him the faith of our good Portuguese people, and I think: “If these people so humbled themselves before three poor children, just because they were mercifully granted the grace to speak to the Mother of God, what would they not do if they saw Our Lord Himself in person before them?” Well, none of this was called for here! It was a distraction of my pen, leading me away where I did not mean to go. But, never mind! It's just another useless digression. I am not tearing it out, so as not to spoil the notebook. At last, we arrived at the Cova da Iria, and on reaching the holmoak we began to say the Rosary with the people. Shortly afterwards, we saw the flash of light, and then Our Lady appeared on the holmoak. — Continue to pray the Rosary in order to obtain the end of the war. In October Our Lord will come, as well as Our Lady of Dolours and Our Lady of Carmel. Saint Joseph will appear with the Child Jesus to bless the world. God is pleased with your sacrifices. He does not want you to sleep with the rope on, but only to wear it during the daytime. — I was told to ask you many things, the cure of some sick people, of a deaf-mute… — Yes, I will cure some, but not others. In October I will perform a miracle so that all may believe. Then Our Lady began to rise as usual and disappeared." Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You! Part 13- Summer Listening from my 1st book entitled, “The Constant Procession” In Chapter 22 entitled “Unheeded Prayers” Fatima Seer; Sister Lucia, brings forward to the Pope requests made to her by the Virgin Mary during the apparition she experienced in Portugal in 1917. Recalling what the Madonna told Sister Lucia: “If you pay heed to my requests, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. Chapter 23, A Society Without God reflects on the environment in the sphere of Soviet influence for people living in a world without social liberty and when Bibles were banished. Chapter 24- Hot Pursuit in a Cold War brings out how the “Great Return” found fierce resistance in France as the communists gained control of the political machine. In Hungary however, the procession yielded fruit. There are links, photos and more about this on my website. Also, Pray for the People of Ukraine. Part 12- Summer Listening continues with this twelfth installment of my 1st book “The Constant Procession.” The episode continues around the time of WWI. The Fatima seer, Sister Lucia sent a message to the Pope. What followed was a call for people world-wide to consecrate their hearts and minds to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. By the end of WWI, the reality was that many who died in the line of battle were the best and brightest of that generation. It suddenly created a vacuum of natural leaders all across the world. Fatalism overtook Faith and the Roaring Twenties attitude of “anything goes” became the way of the world. Culminating in WWII. But then, the story of "Our Lady of the Great Return" in Chapter 21 tells of a phenomena that started in France during WWII. It gave people hope and became an 'endless procession' of sorts, as people marched through the streets all across France behind a very special statue of the Virgin Mary. These marches started in 1942 and continuing through 1948. There are links, photos and more about this on my website. Full Text of ReadingsSaturday of the Fifth Week of Easter Lectionary: 290The Saint of the day is Our Lady of FatimaThe Story of Our Lady of Fatima Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children–Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos–received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Friends of the Rosary: Yesterday, we honored Sts. Francisco and Jacinta Marto, two of three children of Fatima, along with Lucia Santos. In 1917, the three shepherds saw the Blessed Virgin Mary at Cova da Iria, near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. They were asked by the Virgin to learn to read and write and to pray the rosary “to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war.” The brother and sister Francisco, 11, and Jacinta, 10, were the youngest non-martyrs to be canonized in the history of the Church. During the first apparition, which took place May 13, 1917, Our Lady asked the three children to say the Rosary and to make sacrifices, offering them for the conversion of sinners. The children did, praying often, giving their lunch to beggars, and going without food themselves. They offered up their daily crosses and even refrained from drinking water on hot days. In October 1918, Francisco and Jacinta became seriously ill with the Spanish flu. Our Lady appeared to them and said she would take them to heaven soon. Bed-ridden, Francisco requested his first Communion. The following day, Francisco died, April 14, 1919. Jacinta suffered a long illness as well. She was eventually transferred to a Lisbon hospital and operated on for an abscess in her chest, but her health did not improve. She died on Feb. 20, 1920. Francisco and Jacinta died offering their suffering for the conversion of sinners, peace in the world, and the Holy Father. Her cousin, Lucia dos Santos, became a Carmelite nun and was still living when Jacinta and Francisco were beatified in 2000. Sister Lucia died five years later. It was on May 13, 2000, on the 83rd anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady at Fatima when Pope John Paul II beatified Francisco and Jacinta. We learned that even young children can become saints! Ave Maria! Jesus, I Trust In You! Sts. Francisco and Jacinta, Pray for Us! + Mikel A. | RosaryNetwork.com, New York • February 21, 2023, Today's Rosary on YouTube | Daily broadcast at 7:30 pm ET

Part 12 of my first book, “The Constant Procession.” World War I deliver's death as many give their lives in Christ like fashion to protect their families and the world from the attitude that ‘might makes right.' The post war societal loss of the best and brightest, created a vacuum. Fatalism overtakes faith and the Roaring Twenties attitude of “anything goes” becomes the way of the world. The remaining Fatima seer, Sister Lucia pleads for the Fatima apparition's request, to re-consecrate the world to love one another, as role modeled by the motherly love given by the Blessed Mother. Carmel. Kilala ang debosyon at tradisyon sa Our Lady of the Brown Scapular sa sikat nitong pangako na: “Whoever dies wearing this scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.” Sama-sama tayong manalangin sa ating Ina: “O Beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, splendor of heaven, holy and singular, who brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a pure virgin, assist us in our necessity. O Star of the Sea, help and protect us. Show us that you are our Mother. Amen.”

When three young kids in Fatima, Portugal reported that the Virgin Mary had appeared to them on 13th May, 1917, the incident sparked hysteria across their rural, intensely Catholic community. The ‘three secrets' supposedly revealed that day - and the much-attended ‘Miracle of the Sun' event prophesied that Autumn - gave a long-lasting boost to Fatima's visitor numbers. It still plays host to six million pilgrims a year. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly explain why, for decades, only the Pope was allowed to know all the events Mary had predicted; unpick exactly what the witnesses to the sun-miracle may have actually seen; and consider whether, for the Vatican, Sister Lucia's visions were a blessing or a curse…Further Reading:• ‘A saga of spirituality, secrecy and scepticism' (Irish Times, 2005): https://www.irishtimes.com/news/a-saga-of-spirituality-secrecy-and-scepticism-1.416714• ‘Our Lady of Fatima and the Miracle of the Sun: The Virgin Mary appeared to three children in Portugal' (The Washington Post, 2017): https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/retropolis/wp/2017/10/13/our-lady-of-fatima-the-virgin-mary-promised-three-kids-a-miracle-that-70000-gathered-to-see/• ‘SISTER LUCIA OF FATIMA'S LAST PUBLIC INTERVIEW (1957)' (Catholic 365, 2021):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc6k7lf5xL8For bonus material and to support the show, visit Patreon.com/RetrospectorsWe'll be back on Monday! The first apparition at Fatima, how it impacted the 3 shepherd children and Sister Lucia's later reflections on it.
On this May, month of Mary, we anticipate the celebration of Our Lady of Fatima next Friday, May 13, fourth week of Easter. We have digitized, so far, four separate Fr. Llorente homilies on Our Lady of Fatima and here's the last one of them, dated May 20, 1998. Sister Lucia of Fatima was still alive at the time. On this recording one can sense how much Fr. Llorente loved talking about our Mother and our Church. All other homilies of Fr. Llorente will eventually appear in The ACU App. Please download it onto your smartphone, whether Apple iOS or Android devices. We were just informed that all audio cassettes in our possession have now been digitized and look forward to having them reviewed, categorized and released to the world. If you would like to be of assistance on that project, please contact ACUSaints@estovir.org.

Friends of the Rosary: On March 25, the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, Pope Francis will consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It will be during the Celebration of Penance at 5 pm Italian time in Saint Peter's Basilica. This prayer is extraordinary because it is connected to what the Virgin Mary said in Fatima in 1917. Our Lady said that the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart would bring a period of world peace. However, the Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill has not publicly condemned Putin's aggression and the invasion of Ukraine. Sooner than later, "the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph in the end", as the Holy Virgin said to Sister Lucia, one of the three Fatima visionaries, "The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world," She added. We continue looking at FATIMA: A SPIRITUAL LIGHT FOR OUR TIMES and begin The Fatima Center's Novena Prayer for the Proper Consecration of Russia.
Friends of the Rosary: As St. Paul says today in his letter to the Philippians (Phil 3:20—4:1), “Our citizenship is in heaven.” It is fantastic to love our country. But countries are human creations, and we are first children of God. We've been created to dwell like brothers, mostly experiencing the mystery of the cross and the mystery of the resurrection. Exaggerating the values of a nation to the point of adoring it as a modern God is absurd. What Russia's President is doing by elevating the so-called “Mother Russia” to a kind of supernatural category is an inspiration of darkness, at the same level of communism. Moreover, poisonous ideas can result in massive human life destruction, as we are seeing in the invasion of Ukraine. For decades, Russia spread the errors of satanic Communism. Today it dangerously plays to the idea of a global confrontation. Sister Lucia, one of the three Fatima visionaries, recalled in her memories that Our Lady asked for “the Consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart.” The Queen of the Universe also said, “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” The sooner we consecrate Russia, Ukraine, and the whole world to the Virgin Mary, the better the outcome will be for the human race. [Comment: Ideologies] Friends of the Rosary; Our time is unique in this. It looks like that the Prince of the lies has succeeded in twisting part of humanity regarding marriage and family. Sister Lucia dos Santos, one of the three children who witnessed the Marian apparitions in Fatima, predictive right before her death in 2005 that the final battle between the Kingdom of Jesus and Satan would be over the sanctity of marriage and the family. "This is a decisive issue," said Sor Lucia. In their silent battle against the faith and the eternal truth of Jesus Christ, ideologies change the language and engineer deceitful realities that many people buy. These are some of the snares of the Devil that St Michael the Archangel combats. In yesterday's reading (Lk 12:8-12), Jesus said to his disciples: "Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven." #143: Sister Lucia of Fatima, "The Last Great Battle Between Our Lord and Satan"...at the start of this work entrusted to me by the servant of God, John Paul II, I wrote to Sister Lucia of Fatima...I received a long letter with her signature. In it we find written: the final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family--Cardinal Carlo Caffarra....this is the battle we are seeing fought today...and we know it.Our Lady of Good Success said this in the 17th Century! "Thus I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and shortly after the 20th century...the passions will erupt and there will be a total corruption of morals...As for the Sacrament of Matrimony, which symbolizes the union of Christ with His Church, it will be attacked and deeply profaned."in 1973 Our lady of Akita appeared and said, "The work of the devil will infiltrate into the Church in such a way that one will see Cardinals opposing Cardinals, Bishops against Bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres.""And I am moved when I read the best biographies of Padre Pio, on how this man was so attentive to the sanctity of marriage and the sanctity of spouse, even with justifiable rigor on occasion."--Cardinal CaffarraDon't forget to sign up for our Newsletter!! Full Text of ReadingsThursday of the Sixth Week of Easter - Ascension Lectionary: 58, 294All podcast readings are produced by the USCCB and are from the Catholic Lectionary, based on the New American Bible and approved for use in the United States _______________________________________The Saint of the day is Our Lady of Fatimaof Our Lady of Fatima Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children–Francisco and Jacinta Marto and their cousin Lucia dos Santos–received apparitions of Our Lady at Cova da Iria near Fatima, a city 110 miles north of Lisbon. Pope John Paul II directed the Holy See’s Secretary of State to reveal the third secret in 2000; it spoke of a “bishop in white” who was shot by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows into him. Many people linked this vision to the assassination attempt against Pope John Paul II in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981. The feast of Our Lady of Fatima was approved by the local bishop in 1930; it was added to the Church’s worldwide calendar in 2002. Reflection The message of Fatima is simple: Pray. Unfortunately, some people—not Sister Lucia—have distorted these revelations, making them into an apocalyptic event for which they are now the only reliable interpreters. They have, for example, claimed that Mary’s request that the world be consecrated to her has been ignored. Sister Lucia agreed that Pope John Paul II’s public consecration in St. Peter’s Square on March 25, 1984, fulfilled Mary’s request. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith prepared a June 26, 2000, document explaining the “third secret.” Mary is perfectly honored when people generously imitate her response “Let it be done to me as you say” (Luke 1:38). Mary can never be seen as a rival to Jesus or to the Church’s teaching authority, as exercised by the college of bishops united with the bishop of Rome. Click here for more on Our Lady! In 1917 three children from the village of Fatima in Portugal, witnessed what they said was a visitation of the Virgin Mary. The story of nine-year-old Lucia and her two younger cousins, Francisco, 7, and Jacinta, 6, has been the subject of intense investigations by the Catholic Church, faith-driven historians, and curious skeptics. The children were believed to have had the visitation once a month for several months culminating in the Miracle of the Sun witnessed by thousands in October of 1917. But before that, the apparition prophesied to the children about the coming end of World War I, of future wars and events, and even perhaps the attempt on the life of Pope John Paul II. The 1952 movie, The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima, came out just a few years after Pope Pius XII venerated the image enshrined at the chapel of the Apparitions of Fatima. Just last week, a new film version was released. It's called simply, Fatima. Rose Ganguzza, of Rose Pictures, is the film's producer. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, Ganguzza, a veteran filmmaker, explains how this film is made for 21st Century audiences; ones who have the perspective of hindsight, unlike the earlier version. The film begins with a scholarly figure played by Harvey Keitel, who goes to the cloistered order where an elderly Sister Lucia lives. He questions her about the actual events to see if she still believes in the veracity of what she saw as a child. The film then is a series of flashbacks to 1917 to Lucia as a child, the challenges to religious believers who face a crossroad between a comfortable faith, and one that demands sacrifice. Listen to Ganguzza talk about the actors who played the parts, why she made the film, and why this new version leaves out documented traumatic events the children encountered. Today October 7, is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, originally the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, because when the victory comes it will come through the Rosary! Throughout the 1500s, the Muslim Ottoman Empire grew in strength, especially by means of its domination of the Mediterranean Sea. In 1571, their fleet of 300 ships was massed, just south of Greece, in the Gulf of Lepanto, poised to invade Europe and wipe out Christianity. Pope St. Pius V saw this danger looming on the horizon. In response, he begged the leaders of the West to stop fighting among themselves and unite against the force that was a threat to all. But they were too consumed with building their own kingdoms to come to the defense of the Kingdom of God. So he turned to the Christian people, asking them to take up the weapon of the Rosary and pray it daily. Pope St. Pius V finally found support in Don Juan of Austria, who cobbled together a much smaller fleet of about 200 ships. Giovanni Andrea, a Genoese admiral, agreed to lead the Christian armada against the Islamic onslaught. He possessed one of only five copies of Our Lady of Guadalupe and had been touched to the original Tilma, a gift from the King of Spain, which he hung in his flagship. On October 6, 1571, the night before the battle, Don Juan required all his sailors and soldiers to pray the Rosary while St. Pius V himself led the rosary at the Church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva in Rome. He knew that if Europe was to be saved, it would only be through the intervention of the Mother of God and the Rosary. On October 7, 1571, the Christian and Muslim fleets entered into Battle in the bay, south of the town of Lepanto (Greece). The Muslim fleet, led by Ali Pasha, arranged in the formation of a massive quarter moon. The Christian fleet was arranged in the shape of a cross, divided into three squadrons: left, center, and right. The battle started badly for the Christians: the Muslim fleet broke through the left and center squadrons, heading right for Admiral Doria's ship. Doria slipped down to his cabin, where he had hung the painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe, fell on his knees and began to pray the Rosary. At that moment, the winds shifted against the Islamic fleet and scattered it. The Christians regrouped and destroyed two-thirds of the Ottoman armada. It is said that the sea was red with blood for miles around by the end of the battle. In Rome, Pope Pius V knew the Christians were victorious before a message could possibly have reached him. During a meeting in the Vatican the pope suddenly rose up and gazed out the window, saying “This is not a moment for business; make haste to thank God, because our fleet this moment has won a victory over the Turks.” When the official news reached Rome, Pope Pius V gave credit to the Virgin Mary. He declared October 7th the Feast of Our Lady of Victory, which we celebrate today as the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, because the victory came through the power of the Rosary. At Fatima Mary promised that in the end Her Immaculate Heart would Triumph. But she made it clear the Triumph would only come IF we did our part and use the weapon she has given us: The Rosary. At San Nicolas Mary said: “The weapon that has the greatest influence on evil is to say the Rosary." Sister Lucia dos Santos of Fatima said, "The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.”
We should pray the Rosary every day because Our Lady came from heaven as aked us to do so. On May 13, 1917 Our Lady requested: “Pray the Rosary everyday, in order to obtain peace for the world, and the end of the war”. Sister Lucia, one of the three children to whom Mary appeared at Fatima explained why she thought Our Lady asked everyone to pray the Rosary every day: I think God is Father; and as Father He adapts Himself to the needs and possibilities of his children. Now if God, through Our Lady, had asked us to go to Mass and receive Holy Communion every day, there would be undoubtedly have been a great many people who would have said, quite rightly, that this was not possible. Some, on account of the distance separating them from the nearest Church where Mass was celebrated; others on account of the circumstances of their lives, their state in life, their job, the state of their health, ect. On the other hand to pray the Rosary is something everybody can do, rich and poor, wise and ignorant, great and small. All people of good will can, and must say the Rosary every day. Why? In order to put ourselves in contact with God, to thank Him for His benefits and ask for the graces we need. It is the prayer which places us in familiar contact with God, like the son who goes to his father to thank him for the gifts he has received, to talk to him about special concerns, to receive his guidance, his help, his support and his blessing. Since we all need to pray, God asks of us, as a kind of daily installment, a prayer which is within our reach: the Rosary, which can be recited either in common or in private, either in Church in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament or at home, either when traveling or while walking quietly in the fields. A mother of a family can say the Rosary while she rocks her baby's cradle or does the house work. Our day has twenty four hours in it. It is not asking a great deal to set a side a quarter of an hour for the spiritual life, for our intimate and familiar converse with God. We should pray the Rosary every day because it is the School of Mary where she teaches and forms us to become like Jesus. St. John Paul II wrote: The Rosary mystically transports us to Mary's side as she is busy watching over the human growth of Christ in the home of Nazareth. This enables her to train us and to mold us with the same care, until Christ is “fully formed” in us (cf. Gal 4:19). Rosarium 15 Mary has given us a three-fold weapon to change world events, convert family and friends and protect against evil. These three are Pray the Rosary every day Consecrate yourself and your family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and live the Consecration by living a personal relationship with Mary, moment to moment, day after day Practice Sacrifice and Reparation: what you did not choose, do not like and cannot change, accept with trust and offer it up with love; second – First Saturdays of Reparation – on the first Saturday of 5 consecutive months go to confession, to Mass, pray the Rosary, think about the life of Jesus for 15 with the intention of repairing for all those who refuse to have faith, hope and love and by this means help to save them. By the Rosary Our Lady places us and our family under her Mantle of Protection. When the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, both bombing sites experienced miracles associated with the rosary. When Hiroshima was bombed on August 6, 1945, an entire house of Jesuits survived, completely unaffected by the bomb. The Jesuit house was located only eight blocks from where the atomic bomb went off and should have been completely annihilated. A church attached to the Jesuit house and everything else around it for miles was obliterated, but the house with the Jesuits in it survived largely intact. Furthermore, none of the Jesuits suffered any ill effects from radiation or loss of hearing whatsoever.
As a consequence of original sin the powers of our soul have been wounded. Our passions, feelings and desires now propel us toward sin rather than toward God and our intellect has become darkened and confused while the will is weak. As a result, we desire and choose things that are not good for us, we sin, we turn away from God and toward the devil, even if unknowingly. (1 John 3:7-8, CCC 407). Even though Jesus conquered the devil by his death and Resurrection, tragically, people still choose sin which keeps them under the influence of the devil. That is why the devil is the Ruler of this world. People choose to serve him under the guise of all the idols of our age. You are I are not immune to his influence. There are vices, temptations and sins we are powerless against. Do you know the ones you cannot root out? (CCC 410). Revelation chapter 12 describes the cosmic battle between the Woman, Mary, and the great Red Dragon, Satan. The Catechism then connects this prophecy with the Antichrist who will usher in a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers, causing them to turn away from Christ and the Catholic Church. There is a universal spiritual battle raging right now Not between the US and Russia, Christians and Islam, but between the Woman (Mary) and Satan Mary stands on the battlefield, inviting her children to fight with her to save souls from hell and to bring about the Triumph of her Immaculate Heart The weapons she offers are Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Rosary and by taking up our cross and following Jesus. At Fatima in 1917 Mary revealed to the three children that God wanted to save the world through devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Devotion means to consecrate oneself to Mary. Consecration is an unconditional gift of self to Mary so that the Holy Spirit and Mary may form Jesus within you. This is not a one-time event. We must live the consecration, moment to moment, day after day, by living in imitation of Jesus's relationship with Mary as he grew up under her influence and care. Practice living in the presence of Mary. Do this especially when you are plagued by some spiritual storm, temptation, sin, doubt, weakness or fear. Turn to Mary and say, “Mary, I surrender to you, take care of everything!” Or simply say, “Mary.” I say Ya Adhra – The Virgin Pray the Rosary every day At the approved apparition in San Nicolas Mary said: “The weapon that has the greatest influence on evil is to say the Rosary." Sister Lucia of Fatima The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new power to the praying of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult it is, whether earthly or spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families…that cannot be solved by the Rosary. There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary. Take up your cross and follow Jesus Lourdes, Fatima and every approved Marian apparition emphasizes the power of uniting our sacrifices and sufferings to Jesus to save souls. The Angel of Portugal said to the visionaries of Fatima: "Make of everything you can a sacrifice and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners. In this way, you will draw peace upon your country…Above all, accept and bear with submission the sufferings which the Lord will send you." What you did not choose, do not like and cannot change Accept it with trust and unite it to the Cross of Jesus to bring about the final defeat of Satan and the salvation of souls. Your own cross is a T-bar, a lever to move the world and souls Archimedes: “If I had a lever long enough and a place to stand, I could move the whole world.” Do not waste the gift and power of your suffering; Leverage your cross for Souls and help Our Lady crush the head of Satan.
Natural Law and the book of Genesis teach that marriage existed from the beginning of time. Jesus Himself tells us that from the very beginning God made man and woman for one another, and that what God has joined together, let no human put asunder. Many see the Church as enforcing a bunch of distasteful, unwanted rules and oppose the Church and authority. But the Church loves each and every one of us, and the rules are there for our benefit, to help us to love. In fact, Love is, essentially, the ONLY rule. As Saint Augustine concisely exhorts: "Love and do what you will." (May 13, 2019)

Second week of Advent: FAITH in the Journey to Bethlehem “I feel myself in a mystery of Light—this mystery that comes from Faith in God, God in me and I am nothing, lost in the Light as a small drop thrown in the flame, and I was in the flame, where I found strength, grace, life, peace and love.” Sister Lucia of Fatima How fitting that we celebrate the great feast of the Immaculate Conception during the Advent season. Mary conceived without sin was the start of our salvation and the fulfillment of the promise of a Messiah. It was the prophet Micah who foretold that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. The second candle we light this Sunday is called the “Bethlehem Candle”; it represents FAITH, recalling the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. Let us make the journey with them during this Advent season. As we do, we can go forward with the certainty that God has a plan for us, a destination where we will encounter Him. Like Mary and Joseph, we may not know the challenges and disappointments we will face along the way. But, our Faith tells us to trust that God has everything in His most capable hands. The journey to Bethlehem is one we must undertake if we are to live and grow in FAITH. The darkest path there will lead us to a great Light. “He shall stand firm and shepherd his flock by the strength of the Lord, in the majestic name of the Lord, his God” (Mc 5:3).
"All our hope must be placed in the Lord, because He is the one true God who created us with eternal love and redeemed us by sending His own Son, Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, who suffered and died for our salvation." Sister Lucia of Fatima Advent begins a season of prayer, penance and sacrifice in anticipation of the coming of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Advent wreath is the sign of our faith in this truth. The four candles that are lit over the four weeks of Advent each represent 1,000 years, which together add up to the 4,000 years that humanity awaited it's salvation, from the time of Adam and Eve to the birth of Jesus. Christmas is celebrated during the darkest time of the year, so the contrast of the Light of Christ is even more brilliant on the earth. As we light a new candle each week, we dispel the darkness, making way for His coming into the world. Our prayers and sacrifices throughout the Advent season help shine His light where there is none.
In the first hour, hosts Heather Karrow and Jerry Klein were joined by Sr. Teresa Ann Wolf to talk about the dark area of human trafficking and how we, as a community, can help protect the vulnerable among us. Then, it was time for "Straight Talk" with Msgr. Charles Mangan of the Diocese of Sioux Falls. Listeners asked questions on topics including: if Sister Lucia, one of the visionaries at Fatima, is close to sainthood; how we make decisions based on morality in today's society; if we have to confess all of our sins from years ago; and how we explain relativism to teenage children.

The World Apostolate of Fatima, USA is partnering with The Holy League on the54-day Novena for Our Nation and the nationwide Rosary Coast to Coast, Oct. 7, adding a sacrificial element as was emphasized at Fatima. Sister Lucia said that the most essential part of the Fatima message is the sanctification of your daily duty according to your state of life. In other words, to offer up all of your sufferings, trials and tribulations that God permits in your life every day as reparation for the salvation of souls and in supplication for the conversion of sinners. This was the first request Our Lady posed to the three Fatima children on May 13, 1917.
The Dominicans have just celebrated the 150-year jubilee of their ministry on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Fr. John Maria Devaney, O.P., host of the Order's Word to Life program on Sirius XM, takes me through the history of the Dominicans in NYC (which involves quite a bit of history of the city itself). From Rose Hawthorne to Andy Warhol, it is a fascinating and grace-filled legacy. Links Word to Life, Fr. In this particular program Mark invites Chris Cotter, a Secular Carmelite from the Community of Dayton Ohio, to discuss the Carmelite aspects of the Feast of Fatima. On 13 May 2013, Pope Francis consecrated his Papacy to Our Lady of Fatima. Mark and Chris explore both the significance of this event, and what Fatima means to each of us individually. Using both the Vatican Document, from The Congreagation for the Doctrine of the Faith, on the meaning of Fatima, and the writings of Sister Lucia, one of the Fatima visionaries and a Carmelite Nun, they discuss what the messages of Fatima are still communicating to all Christians today. This is a very interesting and very timely topic, and the Order of Carmel plays a significant role in helping to communicate the continual call from Our Lady of Fatima.
