Have you ever felt terrified about the future? Have you felt scared that there won't be enough time, resource, good will to go around? It's easy to look around and slip into a survival mentality. Scarcity mindsets dominate our discourse as a society so often. But the Way of Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven invite us into another way. Jesus invites us into an abundant life that trusts God for all things, and that starts with trusting Him for today. As we learn to trust Him we overflow with love and generosity that reflects our King and Creator to a world in desperate need.
Personal Integrity (vs1) 1:1b NLT …He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. Do the RIGHT THING no matter what. Proverbs 20:7 ESV …The righteous who walks in his integrity - Blessed are his children after him. Healthy Priorities (vs 1-3) Job 1:1b-3 NLT He feared God and stayed away from evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters. 3 He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 teams of oxen, and 500 female donkeys. He also had many servants. He was, in fact, the richest person in that entire area. Selfless Love (vs 4-5) Job 1:4-5 NLT 4 Job's sons would take turns preparing feasts in their homes, and they would also invite their three sisters to celebrate with them. 5 When these celebrations ended—sometimes after several days—Job would purify his children. He would get up early in the morning and offer a burnt offering for each of them. For Job said to himself, “Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job's regular practice. Sincere faith Job 1:4-5 For Job said to himself, He would get up early in the morning and offer a burnt offering for each of them. “Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job's regular practice. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/coastalchurch/message

In this message, Pastor Derek Holmes looks at Ephesians 5:1-5 at how the deep sacrificial love God has for us should overwhelm and captivate our hearts to obey the command to imitate His love toward others.
"I, Sister Faustina Kowalska, by the order of God, have visited the Abyssess of Hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence. The devils were full of hatred." (Faustina's Diary, #741). The scenes were horrible, monstrous, "the shrieks and groans" terrifying...You no longer have to visit Hell to hear the demons. The demons are amongst us. Sister Lucia of Fatima wrote, "The last great battle between Our Lord and Satan is over Marriage and the Family." Speak of Marriage, the Family, Selfless Love and you will be attacked! Marriage—a sacred union reflecting Christ's love for the Church—comes into focus as Linda and Jack unpack St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body, #90. The symbolism isn't just for theologians; it's a blueprint for mutual and selfless love that challenges and enriches our understanding of submission. Our talk bridges the theoretical with the tangible, providing solace for those standing firm in their personal beliefs amidst a sea of societal pressures. Linda and I invite listeners, regardless of their relationship status, to ponder the transformative influence of sacrificial love in their own lives.Follow us on X: John Paul II Renewal @JP2RenewalCatch up with the latest on our website: jp2renew.orgSign up for our Newsletter!! Human value story on empathy and compassionhttp://saibalsanskaar.wordpress.com
In this special Thanksgiving episode, we are sharing about the immense value of serving others together in marriage. While the holiday may look different for all of us this year, we want to encourage you with the blessings, unity and purpose that come from adopting a lifestyle of service as a couple. We start by reflecting on our own journey of serving in various capacities over the years - from youth ministry, to nonprofits, to family and friends. Making service a shared activity has built life-giving memories and given us a shared mission. But for a season when we struggled relationally, our eyes turned inward and serving dried up.Serving is a powerful antidote to many marriage issues. It builds unity as you work as a team. It provides perspective when you pour into others' lives. It gives opportunity to utilize your unique gifts and talents together. And most importantly, it allows you to follow Jesus' example and model servant leadership in the way He perfectly lived it out.In Mark 10 and other passages, Christ makes it clear that His entire mission on earth was to serve and “give his life as a ransom for many.” Washing His disciples feet, He told them to follow His model of humble service to one another. When we serve others from a place of humility and sacrifice like Jesus, amazing things happen in our own hearts. Some benefits of consistently serving together include: deepening intimacy and friendship, creating life-long memories, teaching important values to your kids, gaining inspiration for your relationship, blessing your community, and discovering purpose. As you reflect this Thanksgiving, we encourage you to prayerfully consider what adopting a lifestyle of service might look like for your marriage. Who can you bless? What brokenness can you help heal? You have gifts and talents waiting to be unleashed for Kingdom impact!Instagram | @marriageaftergodInstagram | @unveiledwifeInstagram | @husbandrevolutionCheck out our marriage resources!Sponsors:Grab our NEW book The Marriage Gift - filled with 365 prayers and devotions for your marriage! This is a production of Smith Family Resources, Inc & Marriage After God © 2023Some of the links above may be affiliate links, which means we earn a small commission if you purchase the item(s) using these links. Can you imagine serving someone in your suffering? Jesus did, and so should we. A devotional by Vince Miller.
James 2:1-13 2 My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called? 8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. 11 For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. 13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. [Message by: Cesar Contreras] Thisismosaic.org
1 Corinthians series: Called to Be Holy
In this series about the 9 fruits of the spirit in the Bible, we will be exploring what it means to live like Jesus, with the Holy Spirit as our guide. We've been given 9 traits of Jesus that, when applied to our lives through the Holy Spirit, can help us live more like Him. Why? Because that's what we're called to do. The 9 “fruits of the spirit” reflect all the qualities we need to be more like Jesus in this world. We start with the fruit of the spirit ‘love', and Pastor Shawn kicks us off with a teaching about God's love and how we can reflect that onto others.
Get a blessing by hearing the latest teaching from one of the services at Faith and Truth Assembly!
How many of the 10 commandments do you know off the top of your head? Have you ever lived in fear of breaking those commandments, thinking God was out to get you if you had? Join us this week, for a special Mother's Day Sermon about selfless love. Jesus always aired on the side of "loving the people". All of the attributes of God's selfless love are illustrated throughout the Bible. This week we will look at these attributes of God's selfless love in the relationship between Jonathan and David, and how they are the embodiment of our Lord Jesus.
As the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy revealed, the Jedi Order forbade romantic relationships and other emotional attachments. This is ironic considering that Luke Skywalker's love and attachment to his father ultimately saved the galaxy. This begs the question: why were the Jedi so frightened by love? I believe that they feared that all love would ultimately turn selfish and lead to poor choices. However, as we know, love and attachment can also be our greatest strengths when they are done selflessly. Join me as we examine the difference between selfish and selfless love. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pageturnerstheywerenot/message

Agape; Selfless Love; 1st John 4:7-21, 5:1-5
Part of what we wanted to capture in the Voyager message was this great longing we feel.-Annie DruyanThere is a lack of passion in the Bride. The Bridegroom left on a journey just before the wedding, and the Bride cannot act as if thingsare normal. If she loves Him, she will ache for His return. Saving faith says, "Thy kingdom come!Come back, O precious Bridegroom. Come, reign as King. Come, vindicate your people. Come, marry your Bride.” If she loves him she will ache for his return. She will ask for His Kingdom tocome. She won't be lured to sleep by the world. Or caught in the act of adultery with anotherlover. -John PiperStorge - Familial Love. Like the love a mother has for her child.Philia- Brotherly Love. Like how you love your brothers and sisters in Christ.Agape - Unconditional, Selfless Love. Like how Christ loves us.Eros - Passionate, Burning Love. Like how a groom loves his bride. In the world, we find EROS without AGAPE.In the church, we find AGAPE without EROS.Plan 1: The Squelch DietThe shutting down of any and all indulgence of desire.Squelch = forcefully silence or suppressTo squelch our desires is to hinder our seeking. To ignore our longings is to ignore the one who can fulfill our longings.John 1:35-39 The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. As Jesuswalked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!” When John'stwo disciples heard this, they followed Jesus. Jesus looked around and saw them following.“What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “whereare you staying?” “Come and see,” he said.Behind all of our misdirected desires, there is a legitimate desire God put there and wants tosatisfy. What's needed to progress on the journey of the Christian life is DEPTH of desire, not DEATHof desire. -Christopher WestWhat if instead of training yourself to ignore longings, you let your longings train you?Plan 2: Fast Food DietThe promise of immediate gratification through indulgence of desire. If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewardspromised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desire not too strong, but tooweak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition wheninfinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to make mud pies in a slum becausehe cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easilypleased. -C.S. LewisThose on the fast food plan are trying to suck infinity out of finite things.Plant 3: The BanquetThe promise of eternal gratification through indulgence of desire.Song of Songs 2:4 He brought me to his banquet hall and raised the banner of love over me.Isaiah 25:6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, afeast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.Luke 22:14-15 When it was time to eat the Passover meal, Jesus and the apostles were at thetable. Jesus said to them, “I've had a deep desire to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.Jesus knows the dilemma of desire, and he speaks to it in nearly everything he says. He knowsthat ecstasy is not an option; we are made for bliss, and we must have it one way or another.-John EldredgePsalm 63:1-8O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, asin a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips willpraise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul willbe satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, when Iremember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; for you havebeen my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. My soul clings to you; yourright hand upholds me.For I have seen You I've beheld Your glory. And I am ruined For there is none to compare. And Ilong to know You And the depths of Your love That always leave me Time and time again, undone. -Jeremy FosterRuined & UndoneGod will never do anything with us till he has first of all undone us. -SpurgeonAnd the more I considered Christianity, the more I found that while it had established a rule andorder, the chief aim of that order was to give room for good things to run wild. -G.K. ChestertonPsalm 81:10For it was I, the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt. Open your mouthwide, and I will fill it with good things.Psalm 23:5You prepare a banquet for me while my enemies watch. You anoint my head with oil. My cupoverflows.Psalm 34:8Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!Psalm 78:29 They ate and were filled; the Lord gave them what they wanted; they were notdeprived of their desire.Song of Songs 5:1 ...Eat, O friends, and drink; drink your fill, O lovers. To Enter Into The Banqueting, Passionate, Burning Life:1. Get to the bottom of your desires.Ask: What am I longing for above all else?2. Trace your desires back to their original longing for God.Ask: Why am I longing for that above all else?3. Enter the refining fire and allow anything you're clinging to that is not God to melt away.Ask: Am I willing to not want what I am clinging to?4. Desire to burn with passionate Eros.Ask: Am I willing to be ruined and undone by the depths of God's love?5. Say yes to the invitation.Matthew 22:2-8 “God's kingdom,” he said, “is like a king who threw a wedding banquet for hisson. He sent out servants to call in all the invited guests. And they wouldn't come! “He sent outanother round of servants, instructing them to tell the guests, ‘Look, everything is on the table, the prime rib is ready for carving. Come to the feast!' “They only shrugged their shoulders andwent off, one to weed his garden, another to work in his shop. The rest, with nothing better todo, beat up on the messengers and then killed them. The king was outraged and sent hissoldiers to destroy those thugs and level their city. “Then he told his servants, ‘We have awedding banquet all prepared but no guests. The ones I invited weren't up to it...The limitless, infinite God who created you to experience bliss and ecstasy has invited YOU tobanquet with him.

In contrast to the false teachers who were love-bombing the Galatians for their own selfish purposes, Paul's love for them was genuine, both in their presence and when they were separated from them. His motive was not to possess them for himself, but that Christ would be formed in them. He loved them as a mother loves her children. He had originally brought them to birth through his prayers and through the Gospel, and now he was labouring again for them in intercession and in the Word, earnestly desiring to be with them again, reunited in sweet fellowship. Meanwhile he is at his wits end trying to get through to them.
