Ronald Gruner talks about his fascinating new book COVID Wars: America's Struggle Over Public Health and Personal Freedom," which examines the painful divide in the American public over the COVID-19 pandemic and our national response to it. The book also examines how that same divisiveness was evident to varying degrees in past epidemics and pandemics as well.
The year is 2027. Cyborgs roam the streets of the America/Japan Corporate Union. The Red Army Hammerheads, a cyborg separatist group plans... a murder of some kind? And only Alex Rain, who is also a cyborg, but not as much of a cyborg as the other ones, is the only man/83% cyborg, who can stop... the cyborgs, who we think might be 100% cyborg, but that would make them robots. We can't be sure, but the sunglasses and trench coats are defiantly a vibe. ANYWAY.... Join the boys as they try to decipher a movie that we know, for sure, is a 1992 cyberpunk action film directed by the great Albert Pyun, starting Oliver (pronounced Olivie-ay) Gruner, that was once described as "A story told by an 8 year old that had reached into a bag of sci-fi tropes from the 80's, and is just making it up as he goes along" by one of the hosts of this podcast. "Nemesis" can be seen in full, for free, on Youtube. Watch along with us so that you too, can be "State of the Fucking Art".
In today's podcast - John discusses the changes and similarities of where we were 5 years ago compared to today. He also talks about the looming government shutdown and how Senator Chuck Schumer is breaking ranks and voting with Republicans on the spending bill. Then, he interviews author Ronald Gruner about his past work "We the Presidents" , a presidential history which explores how the policies of American presidents have affected America; and his new book "COVID WARS: America's Struggle Over Public Health and Personal Freedom". Gruner discusses how deep divisions within America during the COVID Pandemic affected our nation's death rates, personal freedoms, and national economy. And then finally, John takes a plethora of calls from the Evil Army of the Night on pop culture, the growing resistance from Dems, and Trump's latest evil plans.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Does this sound familiar? You've been told that hiring candidates solely based on their qualifications and skills will result in a successful team. But despite following this advice, you're still experiencing a lack of cohesion and productivity. Today I talked to Wolf Gruner about his new book Resisters: How Ordinary Jews Fought Persecution in Hitler's Germany (Yale UP, 2023). Drawing on twelve years of research in dozens of archives in Austria, Germany, Israel, and the United States, this book tells the story of five Jewish people--a merchant, a homemaker, a real estate broker, and two teenagers--who bravely resisted persecution and defended themselves in Nazi Germany. These stories have not been told until now, and each case is one of many, as Gruner shows by resurfacing similar accounts of Jewish refusal to accept persecution and violence in Germany and Austria between 1933 and 1943, upending the notion of passive Jews and expanding the concept of resistance. Each individual described here represents a category of resistance: written opposition, oral protest, contesting Nazi propaganda, defiance of anti-Jewish laws and measures, and self-defense against physical attacks. Many of these courageous acts resulted in the resisters being prosecuted and put on trial, and often receiving harsh punishments, while some led to acquittal by courts and others to changes in Nazi policies. Taken together, these accounts reframe our understanding of German Jewish attitudes during the Holocaust, while also providing an astonishing examination of the complex Nazi reactions to the many individual acts of Jewish resistance. On today's episode of The Real Estate Sales Podcast, Jimmy talks with Jason Gruner to discuss the process of how to farm a luxury neighborhood. How did Jason choose a specific area? Jason's end goal is figuring out how to get a seller to call him. He picks an area that makes sense, has $10 million in volume trailing 10 months, a turnover of at least 6%, that he wants to work in, and that he gets excited about. What does the typical monthly output look like? The biggest thing that Jason has committed to is the first of every month he sends out a bright yellow market report for that area. The physical component of sending mail to someone is a huge opportunity and can set you apart. Jason also films a market report and posts them to his social media each month. What would Jason have done differently? He would have done half the size of what he did and made sure to send 12 postcards in the first 12 weeks. Do you have a video or content idea perfect for your business? Share it with Jimmy! Connect with Jimmy Burgess on LinkedIn and Facebook and his YouTube channel.
