Welcome to another Friday edition of The Rizzuto Show — your favorite daily dose of chaos disguised as a comedy podcast. Today's episode kicks off with something rare for us: actual useful information. There's a major iPhone spyware warning making the rounds, and yes, we strongly recommend updating your phone unless you want your personal data casually hanging out with the Russian mafia. No big deal.Of course, we can't stay serious for long. Within minutes, we're deep into one of the most heated debates of the year: the Mount Rushmore of Canadian rock bands. Rush is a lock, but after that? Things get… aggressive. Nickelback enters the chat, Bryan Adams gets defended way too passionately, and somehow we all leave more confused than when we started. It's the kind of argument that proves this comedy podcast is less about answers and more about yelling confidently. From there, we roll into “Crap On Celebrities,” where we cover everything from ACDC health updates to Nine Inch Nails rumors, Dave Grohl's very public therapy era, and Jelly Roll dropping motivation that honestly makes us feel like we should go for a walk… but probably won't.Then things take a turn into reality TV chaos. A Bachelorette season gets completely scrapped after some pretty wild footage surfaces, and we try to wrap our heads around how you go from “Will you marry me?” to “This show no longer exists.” It's messy, it's uncomfortable, and naturally, we talk about it way too long.We also hit rock band logos, Fox Theatre stories (including a tequila-fueled season ticket decision that aged exactly how you'd expect), Chuck Norris being indestructible, and John Stamos getting his first tattoo at 62 — because apparently we're all just figuring things out as we go.It's loud, it's all over the place, and it's exactly what you expect from a Friday comedy podcast with The Rizzuto Show.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Bassist Ryan Gullen and frontman Ewan Currie of the Sheepdogs celebrate their latest album, 'Keep Out Of The Storm,' and reflect on the band's legacy.
The 2026 Winter Games are in the books, and while Team USA is bringing home the double-gold after those heart-stopping overtime wins in Milan, we aren't here to gloat. On this episode of The Heavy Metal Hangover, Rex and Duff are being good sports and paying tribute to the birthplace of hockey by recognizing the absolute titans of Canadian Rock and Metal. We're taking a break from the rivalry to celebrate the bands that have provided the soundtrack to the rink for decades. We'll be spinning and discussing the legends: from the progressive mastery of Rush and the high-speed fury of Annihilator and Exciter, to the mad genius of Devin Townsend. We even dig into the "Hockey-Metal Connection"—why heavy riffs and slap shots go together like beer and a playoff beard. It's a celebration of gold medals and the "Great White North's" heaviest exports. Grab a Molson (or a Banquet), raise a glass to the winners and the legends, and let's get loud!
In this episode of A Breath of Fresh Air, Sandy Kaye explores the remarkable life and career of Burton Cummings, one of the most influential and recognisable voices in Canadian music history. From his beginnings in Winnipeg to international superstardom — and now a highly anticipated return to the stage with The Guess Who — Cummings' story is one of talent, ambition, creative independence and enduring legacy.Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Burton Cummings showed an early passion for music, studying piano and developing a powerful, expressive voice that would later become instantly recognisable. His career took a defining turn in the mid-'60s when he joined The Guess Who, initially as a keyboard player before stepping into the role of lead vocalist and principal songwriter. What followed was one of the most successful chapters in Canadian rock history. With Cummings at the helm, The Guess Who achieved global success, delivering a string of iconic hits including These Eyes, Laughing, No Time, Share the Land and the chart-topping American Woman. His songwriting blended emotional depth, social commentary and unforgettable melodies, while his commanding vocal performances helped the band break through internationally — a rare achievement for Canadian artists at the time. The Guess Who became a defining soundtrack of the late '60s and early '70s, and Cummings emerged as a major creative force behind their success. At the height of the band's popularity, Cummings made the bold decision to leave The Guess Who in '75, determined to follow his own artistic path. Launching a solo career, he quickly proved that his success was no accident. His solo work revealed a broader musical range, incorporating rock, pop, jazz influences and orchestral elements. Songs such as Stand Tall, My Own Way to Rock and You Saved My Soul became major hits, cementing his reputation as a formidable artist in his own right.Beyond studio recordings, Burton Cummings earned a reputation as a powerful and charismatic live performer. His rich voice and dynamic stage presence have remained remarkably consistent over the decades, allowing him to connect with audiences across generations. Even as musical trends shifted, Cummings continued to tour, record and evolve, keeping his catalogue alive while introducing fans to new material. In recent years, fans have been thrilled by the announcement that Burton Cummings has reunited with The Guess Who, bringing one of Canada's most legendary rock line-ups back together. With plans to tour, the reunion offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience these timeless songs performed by the voice that helped make them iconic. For longtime fans and new listeners alike, the return of Cummings fronting The Guess Who is both nostalgic and celebratory — a full-circle moment in Canadian music history.Throughout his career, Cummings has received widespread recognition for his contribution to music. He has won multiple Juno Awards, been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame both as a member of The Guess Who and as a solo artist, honoured with a star on Canada's Walk of Fame, and appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada, one of the nation's highest civilian honours. In this episode, Sandy reflects on Burton Cummings' extraordinary journey — a career defined by artistic courage, musical excellence and a voice that helped shape the sound of a nation. From classic hits to a long-awaited reunion and tour, Burton Cummings remains a living legend whose music continues to resonate across time.

In this special episode, we sit down with legendary Nova Scotian songwriter, performer, and producer Joel Plaskett in his dreamlike Dartmouth studio—an inspiring space where history, creativity, and aliveness are immediately felt. Joel's music career is the stuff of Canadian legend (seriously, he's won more awards than we can count and shared the stage with one of the BEATLES), but this conversation goes beyond the performance. We dig into the soul behind the sound: Joel as the deep thinker, the kind soul, the reflective artist who's just as passionate about philosophy, family, and authenticity as he is about songwriting. We also talk about the incredible surprise his management team pulled off for his 50th birthday: a tribute album featuring his songs, reimagined by a who's who of Canadian music—The Arkells, City and Colour, Jenn Grant, and so many more. We cover: How Joel's lifelong journey in the arts has always felt like the only road forward His thoughts on creativity, legacy, and why making music still matters The story behind the surprise album that included all his best buds What it means to feel truly at home in a creative space Joel is funny, philosophical, generous, and just downright brilliant. This is a conversation for anyone who's ever wanted to live a life aligned with their art. Listen in, and let Joel's soulful reflections remind you why making stuff matters. You've likely heard the news by now; Canadian Pop-Punk Icons SUM 41 are embarking on their final world tour, releasing their final album, and hanging up the Vans and Studded belts forever. That's right, Ajax, Ontario's finest are calling it quits. It might surprise you to hear that Sum 41 have been a staple of Rock radio in this country for the better part of 25 years, and that even through lineup changes, health scares, label moves, and musical experimentation, Deryck Whibley and the boys have helped keep the spirit of pop-punk, heavy metal, and good old fashioned Canadian Rock 'n' Roll alive and kicking. Originally conceived as young teenagers in 1994, but officially shaped up as SUM 41 in 1996, by 1997 SUM 41 making waves in the underground scene, working with the likes of manager Greig Nori's band Treble Charger, Len, and pre-Broken Social Scene Brendan Canning. In 1998, the guys recorded a demo tape, and homemade video footage to try and catch record labels attention, and by 1999, SUM 41 ultimately signed on the dotted line with the world famous Island Records. After a stop-start major label foray with their EP Half Hour of Power, it was make or break time for SUM 41 as they geared up for their full length debut 'All Killer, No Filler' luckily, the band was sitting on a secret weapon of a song that Deryck Whibley had been working on for years... albeit one they didn't even know how to play! This is the true story of SUM 41's classic 'Fat Lip' featuring an ALL NEW interview with Deryck Whibley for Encore. Also features footage from the Chris Demakes a Podcast Episode 31

What's the next step after the oldest rock on Earth? Today, we'll move the story forward 200 million years and 1,000 miles. The time: 3.8 billion years ago... or maybe much older (March 3 on the Earth Calendar). The place: Nuvvuagittuq (noo-voo-ah-git-took), Quebec, Canada, in the lands of the Inuit. In this episode, we'll learn how this seaside outcrop was found and the ongoing debate about its' exact age. Depending on who you talk to, these are either the second-oldest rocks on Earth, or almost as old as the Earth itself.

Brad RobertsTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know the singer, songwriter, and founder of the multi-platinum Canadian Rock band Crash Test Dummies. In this episode, we chat about how the band formed, and the rapid rise and fall of their debut single Superman's Song on the Canadian charts. Brad tells us about the fickle nature of Canadian love for their artists, and how eye-opening an experience it was for him. We discuss the legendary Clive Davis's involvement, and the chart climbing success of the band's second album; God Shuffled His Feet, and how much I love it personally. 2023 is the 30-year anniversary of that album, and for some reason, I spend an inordinate amount of time explaining to Brad what this album has meant to me throughout the years. Crash Test Dummies are on a national tour of the United States and have released a brand-new song 3 days ago called: Sacred Alphabet. This is their first new release in over a decade and is available everywhere now. Make sure you catch Crash Test Dummies on tour. Maybe they will play some of their biggest hits, Brad is gracious enough to let me play my personal favorite of their songs toward the end of the episode. Thanks Brad!
