By lightening up your communication, you can build serious connections.Humor in communication isn't all fun and games. According to Alison Wood Brooks and Naomi Bagdonas, levity is one of the most serious tools we have in building successful connections.Wood Brooks and Bagdonas, both teachers, authors, and experts in the field of communication, recognize how crucial levity is to our professional and personal interactions. “It's easy to think of [humor] as this extra bonus thing,” says Wood Brooks. “What we find is it's incredibly core to how people are relating to each other.” Bagdonas agrees: “When there's the presence of laughter in team meetings, those teams are more successful and more creative. Leaders with a sense of humor—not even a good sense of humor—are seen as more motivating, more admired, [and] their teams report being more engaged.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Wood Brooks and Bagdonas join host Matt Abrahams to explore levity as a mindset, or as Bagdonas puts it, “Navigating life on the precipice of a smile.” Together, they share how lightness and humor can break barriers, bridge connections, and unlock the door to better communication. To listen to the extended Deep Thinks version of this episode, please visit FasterSmarter.io/premium.Episode Reference Links:Alison Wood Brooks Alison's Book: TalkNaomi Bagdonas Naomi's Book: Humor, SeriouslyEp.13 Make 'Em Laugh: How to Use Humor as a Secret Weapon in Your CommunicationEp.73 Listen Up: Why It's Better to Be Interested Than InterestingEp.89 Listen, Listen, Listen: How to Build Deep ConnectionsEp.169 Don't Be a ZQ: Make Your Conversations Count Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (03:13) - Talk Tour Insights (04:33) - Top Advice on Asking Questions (06:43) - Guiding Principles for Leaders (09:17) - Importance of Levity (11:17) - Why Humor Matters (13:06) - Letting Go of Comfort (16:24) - Overthinking Levity (18:30) - Creating Space for Levity (22:02) - Conclusion *****This Episode is sponsored by Stanford. In this uplifting and insightful episode of The Mel K Show, I welcome back my friend Frank, the voice and heart behind the popular show Quite Frankly. During the most challenging days of the global shutdowns, Frank was one of the people who kept me going. Every night, no matter how chaotic things became, his show delivered truth, perspective, and the kind of humor that reminded us all to keep living our best lives. Frank has always been more than a commentator. He is a community builder. Throughout those years, he encouraged people to step away from the noise and focus on what truly matters. He reminded us that feeding the chaos only gives it more power, and instead, we could choose to create something positive, enlightening, and meaningful in our own lives. In this conversation, we explore how Quite Frankly has evolved into something truly unique. Frank has built an interactive community centered around the joy of shared learning and entertainment. One of the most popular features of his show is the Book Club, which began in 2022 and has already covered nearly 20 titles. Frank intentionally focuses on fiction, believing that powerful truths can often be found in stories rather than in endless cycles of nonfiction analysis. Recent selections include The Body by Stephen King, the inspiration for the film Stand By Me, and works by literary greats like Mark Twain. The Book Club is not just reading for reading's sake. It is a fully immersive experience where listeners contribute through official discussion threads, voicemails, and call-ins. Special guests often join to bring new perspectives to each title, creating a shared sense of discovery and connection. In 2025, Frank expanded the concept with the launch of a Film Club. Now, alongside the literature, his community comes together to watch and discuss films, adding another layer of creativity and cultural appreciation. This is not about escapism, but about engaging deeply with art and ideas that feed the soul. What you will learn in this episode: How Quite Frankly evolved from a nightly talk show into a thriving, interactive community Why Frank focuses on fiction to uncover deeper truths about life How shared storytelling through books and films creates connection and resilience The importance of cultivating joy, curiosity, and creativity even in uncertain times Practical ways you can step away from the noise and invest in what truly enriches your life Please follow Quite Frankly: https://www.quitefrankly.tv https://rumble.com/c/QuiteFrankly https://x.com/QuiteFranklyTV

Got a question? Let us know! This week on Made For Mondays, we're diving into the truth that Jesus is 100% God and 100% human—all the time. We talk about how that reality meets us right in the middle of our fear, and why it matters that He both understands what we feel and has the power to do something about it.From childhood fears to real-life moments of extreme stress, we unpack practical tools to face fear: naming it, anchoring our thoughts, shifting our soundtrack, serving others, and ultimately trusting Jesus—maybe for the first time or all over again. We also talk about the role of community in hard seasons and how small groups can help us walk with others through their struggles. Whether you're in a season of fear or walking with someone who is, this conversation will encourage you to lean into the God who gets it and has got it.
In this episode of The Mel K Show, I am joined by two incredible patriots who have been fighting a battle most Americans did not realize was underway. My good friend Sam Sorbo and Kelly Walker, co-founders of Parents Demanding Justice Alliance, are here to expose the truth about what happened when the federal government decided to target concerned parents across the country. Many remember the now-infamous memo from Attorney General Merrick Garland labeling parents who spoke out at school board meetings as domestic threats. What most people do not know is that this went far beyond political posturing. The Department of Justice involved the FBI and used federal resources to intimidate, investigate, and silence parents whose only “offense” was defending their children and exercising their First Amendment rights. Sam and Kelly share how they uncovered internal emails that prove federal officials were warned by their own legal advisors that these actions infringed on constitutional rights. Despite this, they moved forward, claiming they were only concerned about “violent” parents—yet there was no evidence of violence. The truth is clear: this was an organized effort to send a chilling message, not just to the parents who spoke out, but to every parent watching. Kelly's personal story is a powerful example of what this targeted persecution looks like in real life. His business was destroyed, he was forced to move to another state, he sold his home, and even had funds taken from his account. He is not alone. Sam and Kelly have compiled a dossier of more than fifty parents from across the country who have been harassed, threatened, or financially harmed for standing up for their children's education and safety. We talk about why schools are pushing parents out of the conversation, shutting down involvement, and actively trying to separate children from the influence of their families. This is not about education. It is about control. It is about who shapes the worldview of the next generation. Here is what you will learn in this episode: The truth about the DOJ memo and what it set in motion How the FBI was used to intimidate parents speaking at school board meetings The real reason schools want to exclude parents from decision-making The personal cost of standing up for your children's rights How Parents Demanding Justice Alliance is fighting back and helping families This conversation is a wake-up call. The targeting of parents is not an isolated incident—it is part of a larger effort to weaken the role of families and reshape the relationship between parents, children, and the state. If we do not stand together now, the ability of parents to guide, protect, and advocate for their children will be eroded beyond repair. The good news is that people like Sam and Kelly are not backing down. They are building a movement to defend parents, protect children, and restore the balance of power where it belongs: in the hands of families and communities. In this urgent episode of The Mel K Show, I sit down with my friend and fearless advocate Jaco Booyens, a man who has spent decades fighting to expose one of the darkest crimes in our nation. We are talking about child trafficking in the United States. This is not a theory. It is not far away. It is here, and it is real. Jaco's journey began when his younger sister Ilonka was trafficked at the age of 12. She was rescued after six years of abuse, and today she is a mother, a policy advisor, and a living example that restoration is possible. This personal story launched Jaco's lifelong mission to fight back. His organization works in prevention, rescue, restoration, and legislation. And what he shares in this episode is something every American needs to hear. Too many people still believe trafficking is limited to dangerous strangers or faraway places. The truth is traffickers thrive within broken systems. Our foster care system is one of the largest feeders of trafficking in this country. Jaco and his team have built safe houses for survivors and helped remove children directly from abusive state placements. He also works with law enforcement and lawmakers to fix the gaps that allow this evil to flourish. We also talk about what is happening at the border and how thousands of unaccompanied minors are being absorbed into a system with no accountability. The danger these children face is staggering. The lack of oversight is unacceptable. And the silence from the media and elected officials is inexcusable. But there is hope. There are people on the front lines doing the work, saving lives, and holding the line. Jaco lays out exactly how you can be part of the solution. Whether through raising awareness, supporting real organizations, or demanding accountability from leadership, every citizen has a role to play. Here is what you will learn in this episode: What child trafficking really looks like in the United States How the foster care system has been exploited by predators Why our open border is fueling a crisis few are willing to name What real recovery looks like for survivors How you can help stop the cycle and protect vulnerable children This conversation is not easy. But it is necessary. We are in a moment where silence equals complicity. The innocent are depending on us to speak, to act, and to fight for truth and justice. The enemy is organized. We must be too. This is not political. This is moral. This is personal. The time to act is now. To learn more about and follow Jaco: https://x.com/BooyensJaco JBM Anti Trafficking Org https://HelpJBM.org
In this episode of The Mel K Show, I sit down with one of my favorite patriots and truth-tellers, Joe Hoft of The Gateway Pundit. Joe and his brother Jim have been fearless in their pursuit of the truth, and today we are talking about something near and dear to both of us: the Vindication Tour, happening this weekend in Las Vegas. This event is not just another gathering. It is a celebration of courage, perseverance, and integrity. Joe shares details about what this weekend means, who will be speaking, and why now is the time to stand with those who have risked everything to expose corruption and hold the line for America. From Rudy Giuliani to General Michael Flynn to Roger Stone, this event will honor men who were vilified, attacked, and relentlessly targeted, yet never backed down. These are not just political figures. They are living examples of what it means to stay true to your oath and fight for your country. We talk about why honoring these individuals matters, not just for history, but for the future. The truth has been under assault for years. From smear campaigns to weaponized justice, we are witnessing the dismantling of due process and the erosion of trust in every institution. That is why gatherings like this one are so important. They restore hope. They reinforce the truth. They remind us that we are not alone in this fight. Joe also gives a behind-the-scenes look at some of the speakers and honorees, including a 100-year-old World War II veteran who will receive an award from General Flynn. These stories are powerful. They are real. They show what it looks like to hold the line in the face of overwhelming odds. Here is what you will take away from this episode: Why the Vindication Tour is a critical moment for the truth movement What it means to honor those who have been persecuted for exposing corruption How grassroots media and citizen journalism are turning the tide Why now is the time to get involved, get informed, and stand with those who speak out This is not about politics. It is about principle. We are at a turning point in our nation's history, and this conversation is a reminder that We the People have the power to stand together, honor courage, and reclaim truth. To learn more about Beverly Hills Precious Metals, please visit https://melkgold.com Follow Roger Stone: https://x.com/RogerJStoneJr https://www.stonecoldtruth.com In this explosive episode of The Mel K Show, I welcome back one of the most persecuted patriots of our time, Roger Stone. For years, he has been smeared, targeted, and framed by a corrupt system that was desperate to destroy not just him, but the man he supported from the beginning—Donald J. Trump. Now, the truth is finally breaking through. Roger joins me to walk through the latest revelations from newly declassified documents and internal emails that expose a conspiracy at the highest levels of power. This is not speculation. This is documented fact. There was a deliberate plan to frame Donald Trump for collusion with Russia. That plan was approved by Hillary Clinton, born in the Oval Office under Barack Obama, and executed by bad actors like John Brennan and others using the fake Steele dossier. Roger explains how this manufactured narrative was used to justify Crossfire Hurricane, the illegal surveillance of the Trump campaign, and the now-debunked claim that the Democrat National Committee was hacked by foreign actors. He also breaks down the forensic evidence that proves the DNC data was downloaded internally and never hacked at all. The entire story they sold to the American people has fallen apart. But this is not just about exposing corruption. It is about justice. Roger reveals that Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has initiated proceedings to bring this case before a grand jury, with the goal of seeking indictments. Because the conspiracy continues through the raid on Mar-a-Lago, there is a clear legal path to prosecute in Florida, outside of the swamp-infested courts in Washington, D.C. We also talk about the personal toll this has taken on Roger, and why vindication is not just about clearing his name. It is about restoring truth, accountability, and faith in the rule of law. This case is bigger than politics. It is about the future of the republic. Here is what you will learn in this episode: The real origins of the Russian collusion narrative Who approved and coordinated the operation to frame Trump How false intelligence was weaponized to justify surveillance and prosecution Why new legal actions in Florida may finally bring justice What this means for every American who cares about due process and the Constitution This episode is a wake-up call. The truth has been buried for too long. The people behind this scheme must be held accountable, not for vengeance, but to protect the foundation of our nation. We must demand justice!
How do you stay clear, calm, and precise when every word counts and there's no room for error?Staying calm and focused while translating high-stakes conversations in real time isn't just a language skill — it's a masterclass in communication under pressure. And for Giampaolo Bianchi, simultaneous interpreter for the United Nations and World Health Organization, it's a challenge he meets with presence, precision, and a whole lot of preparation. In this expanded conversation from our Spontaneous Speaking series, Bianchi offers a behind-the-scenes look at how he prepares for — and performs in — moments where being calm, in control, and adaptable are essential.“We don't translate words — we translate ideas,” Bianchi explains, highlighting the mindset shift that allows interpreters to go beyond language and convey meaning with clarity and nuance. He shares the role of rigorous preparation, physical grounding, and mental focus in his work, and explains how tools like note systems, pre-session rituals, and active listening help manage cognitive load during live interpretation. In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Bianchi and host Matt Abrahams explore how the principles of simultaneous interpretation apply far beyond the booth — offering valuable strategies for anyone who needs to communicate effectively under pressure, adapt in the moment, and ensure their smartest communication happens without a script.Episode Reference Links:Giampaolo BianchiEp.197 Prep or Perish: Mastering In-the-Moment Communication (1 of 3)Ep.198 Pause and Effect: Mastering In-the-Moment Communication (2 of 3)Ep.199 Blunder Pressure: Mastering In-the-Moment Communication (3 of 3)Ep.203 No Script, No Problem: Final Secrets to Speaking Under Pressure (Bonus) Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:42) - Becoming a UN Interpreter (03:50) - Staying Calm Under Pressure (05:03) - Translating Emotion, Not Just Words (06:10) - Memory and Focus Techniques (07:51) - The Power of Preparation (09:17) - Pre-Meeting Rituals and Readiness (10:34) - Handling Mistakes in Real Time (11:44) - Interpreter Habits in Daily Life (12:45) - The Final Three Questions (17:28) - Conclusion *****This Episode is sponsored by Stanford. In this compelling episode, Mel K welcomes Aaron M. Stevenson, a courageous whistleblower with decades of experience inside the intelligence and federal security apparatus. Aaron has served in Marine Corps intelligence, contracted with the Defense Intelligence Agency, and held positions with Customs and Border Protection as well as USCIS. He has been on the front lines of America's national security for years, and now he is exposing truths the establishment does not want you to hear. Aaron takes us inside a world few understand. After multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and years working inside DHS, he began to see disturbing patterns that could not be ignored. He witnessed cartel-connected individuals sponsoring children and gaining access to our immigration system, setting off alarm bells that should have triggered immediate action. Instead, his warnings were ignored. Internal disclosures led nowhere. The system, designed to protect the vulnerable, was allowing corruption to thrive. By 2021, Aaron realized this was not a case of bureaucratic error. It was something much deeper. Children were being placed in dangerous hands while officials looked the other way. After exhausting every internal channel, Aaron went public, knowing it could cost him his career. It did. In 2023, after years of speaking out, he was terminated from DHS. His crime? Telling the truth. This episode is about more than one man's story. It is a window into the failures of our immigration system, the infiltration of criminal networks, and the culture of silence inside agencies sworn to protect our country. It is also about the psychological warfare being waged on the American people, where narratives are manipulated and facts are buried under layers of propaganda. Aaron shares how corruption has become systemic, how internal accountability has collapsed, and what happens when good people inside government try to do the right thing. His testimony reveals why transparency and vigilance are not optional. They are essential if we are to defend our sovereignty and protect the most vulnerable among us. Here is what you will learn in this episode: How the immigration system was compromised from within Why whistleblowers face retaliation instead of support The reality of cartel influence in child sponsorship programs How psychological and information warfare is shaping what Americans believe What must happen to restore integrity and accountability This conversation is a wake-up call. If we allow these patterns to continue, the cost will be catastrophic. Awareness is the first step toward change. Listen closely, share widely, and join the movement to hold power accountable. Real connection means understanding your audience, staying true to yourself, and creating space for others. How do you communicate who you are, what you stand for, and leave space for others to do the same? At the Stanford Seed Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, three GSB professors explored why real connection is built through authentic communication. For Jesper Sørensen, authentic organizational communication means talking about a business in ways customers or investors can understand, like using analogies to relate a new business model to one that people already know. For incoming GSB Dean Sarah Soule, authentic communication is about truth, not trends. Her research on "corporate confession" shows that companies build trust when they admit their shortcomings — but only if those admissions connect authentically to their core business. And for Christian Wheeler, authentic communication means suspending judgment of ourselves and others. “We have a tendency to rush to categorization, to assume that we understand things before we really do,” he says. “Get used to postponing judgment.”In this special live episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, host Matt Abrahams and his panel of guests explore communication challenges for budding entrepreneurs. From the risks of comparing yourself to competitors to how your phone might undermine genuine connection, they reveal how authentic communication — whether organizational or personal — requires understanding your audience, staying true to your values, and creating space for others to be heard.Episode Reference Links:Jesper SørensenChristian WheelerSarah SouleEp.194 Live Lessons in Levity and Leadership: Me2We 2025 Part 1 Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (01:04) - Jesper Sørensen on Strategic Analogies (04:06) - Sarah Soule on Corporate Confessions (08:46) - Christian Wheeler on Spontaneity & Presence (12:06) - Panel Discussion: AI's Role in Research, Teaching, & Life (17:52) - Professors Share Current Projects (22:55) - Live Audience Q&A (32:53) - Conclusion *****This Episode is sponsored by Stanford. Pastor Doug opens up about how Psalm 100 invites us closer to a God who's not distant, but personal—and why that can feel both comforting and uncomfortable. Plus, a surprise party story, a Twilight confession (Team Edward or Team Jacob?), and a conversation about how God's love and ownership of us can change how we live. The Big Idea: The more we understand the why, the more meaningful the invitation becomes.

How to communicate clearly in any context, from newsrooms to the world stage. All good communication, whether spoken or written, is built on the same foundation. In everything from police reporting for a newspaper to serving as spokesman for the Pope, Greg Burke has found the key: "Keep it as simple as possible."Burke has worked as a journalist for Time Magazine and Fox News, as Director of Communications at IESE Business School in Barcelona and Madrid, and even as a communications advisor and spokesman for the Vatican. Across his varied experiences, he's found that the biggest communication challenges often require the simplest solutions. From expressing “curiosity and real interest” in those we're speaking with to ensuring our messages are “clear, consistent, and timely,” he advocates for core principles that apply in all types of communication. In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Burke and host Matt Abrahams discuss communication strategies that work whether you're presenting to a team of five or millions of parishioners worldwide.
