Ramachandra Guha's work forms the subject of T.N. Sudarshan and Divya Reddy's study in the book 'Ten Heads of Ravana.' Guha, known for his elaborations on “Nehru, Gandhi, cricket history, environment, politics and economics” is the recipient of the Padma Bhushan in 2009, India's third-highest civilian award. Analyzing Guha's work, the authors deconstruct several major themes, such as Gandhi's relationship with Hinduism, and comparison of Nehru with Subhash Chandra Bose and Sardar Patel. The threads of subalternism, colonialism, nationalism, Marxism and the blatant hatred for Hindutva seen in Guha's work are unpacked by the authors for the general reader Snakes in the Ganga - http://www.snakesintheganga.com Varna Jati Caste - http://www.varnajaticaste.com The Battle For IIT's - http://www.battleforiits.com Power of future Machines - http://www.poweroffuturemachines.com 10 heads of Ravana - http://www.tenheadsofravana.com To support Infinity Foundation's projects including the continuation of such episodes and the research we do: इनफिनिटी फ़ौंडेशन की परियोजनाओं को अनुदान देने के लिए व इस प्रकार के एपिसोड और हमारे द्वारा किये जाने वाले शोध को जारी रखने के लिए: http://infinityfoundation.com/donate-2/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rajivmalhotrapodcast/support

It was the Indian soldiers of the #BritishIndianArmy who ensured that no native ruler in India could challenge the British authority. After securing indisputable hegemony for Britain over all of India, they helped it extend its power over our neighbours from Afghanistan to Burma. Sure the Indian soldiers fought valiantly in the world wars, but the people they fought in places extending from Egypt to Malaysia bore no ill-will towards Indians. They were not India's enemies.We laud the mutineers of #1857 as India's first independence heroes, then how can we also commemorate those who chose the #EastIndiaCompany over India and enabled it to defeat these mutineers and brutally crush India's first rebellion for independence. Similarly, we cannot simultaneously valorise the Indian National Army led by Subhash Chandra #Bose and also those who defeated it so that India continued to remain firmly under the yoke of British tyranny.However, soldiers fight for the government of the day. All over the world, good soldiers are expected to follow the orders, and not question the motives behind them. The political situation and societal values have considerably changed since the days of the British Indian Army. Is it fair for us to apply our contemporary lens and discredit the sacrifices of these brave Indian men?Explore More at - www.argumentativeindians.comDISCLAIMER:We invite thought leaders from across the ideological spectrum. 16

Even as a war broke out in Europe, a clash between different streams of the Indian nationalist movement broke out at home. Triggered by differences with the Mahatma and his protégés, and a desire to leverage the the crisis presented by the war, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the political lion from Bengal, decided it was time to embark on his own path. Bose, after a dramatic escape from India while under arrest, travelled to Europe and Japan decided to work with Axis Powers. His subsequent leadership of the Indian National Army inspired the young and by creating a new, inclusive, armed force to fight for independence, Bose pioneered a new form of struggle. But in 1945, Bose died in a tragic and sudden air crash. In this episode, the historian and Netaji's grand nephew, Sugata Bose takes us through Bose's life, politics, beliefs, relationship with the Mahatma, INA and explains his legacy.

It is estimated that one million people were killed and 12 million made homeless. Painful loss of family members and loved ones to mindless violence have left the collective memories scarred on both sides of the border created by the Partition. Even as we approach 75 years since this momentous event people have never ceased wondering and questioning ‘what if'. The reasons that led to the Partition and its very legitimacy continue to remain highly contested. While many accuse #independenceleaders such as #Gandhi and #Nehru, others lay the blame squarely on #British connivance and yet others trace the seeds of division in the birth of the #MuslimLeague. The defenders of each side claim their powerlessness in the face of the inevitable Partition. But was it really inevitable? DISCLAIMERWe invite thought leaders from across the ideological spectrum. Vikram Sampath is an esteemed historian and the author of five acclaimed books: Splendours of Royal Mysore, a biography of Gauhar Jaan, S Balachander, and a two-volume biography of Savarkar. In 2021, Sampath was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He is a former senior fellow at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, and has many many more achievements under his belt. Welcome to the podcast. As the intellectual fountainhead of the ideology of Hindutva, which is in political ascendancy in India today, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is undoubtedly one of the most contentious political thinkers and leaders of the twentieth century. Accounts of his eventful and stormy life have oscillated from eulogizing hagiographies to disparaging demonization. The truth, as always, lies somewhere in between and has unfortunately never been brought to light. Savarkar and his ideology stood as one of the strongest and most virulent opponents of Gandhi, his pacifist philosophy and the Indian National Congress. Dr. Sampath has written a two-part biography on this unseen hero of the Indian independence movement; the focus of this conversation. In this episode, our hosts Roshan Cariappa and Amit Paranjape bring up topics of Savarkar as a successor to Lokmanya Tilak, the relation between Subhash Chandra Bose and Savarkar, and his forward-looking thoughts on geopolitics and foreign relations. They also spoke about history as an art; whether there is such a thing as objective history and how we should look at idolized historical figures. This episode is sure to be a treat for history buffs and fans of Dr. Sampath alike. Viewers can also find this this episode on all audio platforms.

@podcastaudios INDEPENDENCE DAY SPECIALS : Subhash Chandra Bose's Top 5 Short Stories|सुभाश चंद्र बोस की काहानियाई | Subhas Bose was born into wealth and privilege in a large Bengali family in Orissa during the high noon of the British Raj. The early recipient of an unusually Anglocentric education, his teenage and young adult years were interspersed with brilliant academic success, oversize religious yearning, and stark rebellion against authority. In a college in which his five brothers had preceded him, he was expelled for participating in an assault on a professor. He was also rusticated from the University of Calcutta, but after reinstatement 18 months later he managed to study blamelessly and excel academically. Sent to England at his father's urging to take the Indian Civil Service examination, he succeeded with distinction in the vital first exam but demurred at taking the more routine but clinching final exam. He cited nationalism to be a higher calling than the civil service. Returning to India in 1921 to join the nationalist movement led by Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress, Bose at first worked with C. R. Das in Bengal. He flowered under Das's mentorship. He then followed Jawaharlal Nehru to leadership in a group within the Congress. The group was younger, less keen on constitutional reform, and more open to socialism.[p] Bose rose precociously to become Congress president in 1938. After reelection in 1939, differences arose between Bose and Gandhi. The senior leadership in the Congress supported Gandhi, and Bose resigned as president, and was eventually ousted from the party.[20] In July 1940, Bose was arrested by the Bengal government over a small protest, and later kept housebound under a strict police watch. In mid-January 1941, he escaped from India in dramatic cloak-and-dagger fashion, heading northwestward into Afghanistan. जापान में प्रतिवर्ष 18 अगस्त को उनका शहीद दिवस धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है वहीं भारत में रहने वाले उनके परिवार के लोगों का आज भी यह मानना है कि सुभाष की मौत 1945 में नहीं हुई। वे उसके बाद रूस में नज़रबन्द थे। यदि ऐसा नहीं है तो भारत सरकार ने उनकी मृत्यु से संबंधित (सम्बन्धित) दस्तावेज अब तक सार्वजनिक क्यों नहीं किये?(यथा संभव (सम्भव) नेता जी की मौत नहीं हुई थी) [6] 16 जनवरी 2014 (गुरुवार) को कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय ने नेता जी के लापता होने के रहस्य से जुड़े खुफिया दस्तावेजों को सार्वजनिक करने की माँग वाली जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई के लिये विशेष पीठ के गठन का आदेश दिया।[7] आज़ाद हिन्द सरकार के 75 वर्ष पूर्ण होने पर इतिहास में पहली बार वर्ष 2018 में भारत के प्रधानमन्त्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने लाल किले पर तिरंगा फहराया। 23 जनवरी 2021 को नेताजी की 125वीं जयन्ती है जिसे भारत सरकार ने पराक्रम दिवस के रूप में मनाने का निर्णय लिया है। Connect

Subhas Chandra Bose was an Indian nationalist whose defiant patriotism made him a hero in India, but whose attempt during World War II to rid India of British rule with the help of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan left a troubled legacy. The honorific Netaji, first applied in early 1942 to Bose in Germany by the Indian soldiers of the Indische Legion and by the German and Indian officials in the Special Bureau for India in Berlin, was later used throughout India. On the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, we put together a special panel of guests to remember Netaji's impact on nascent India. In this special episode of the Bharatvaarta podcast, Vivek Khaitan and Abhishek Bannerjee deconstruct the life and deeds of Subhash Chandra Bose, from his relationship with the Indian National Congress to his death, which is shrouded in mystery to this day. We also explore some interesting counterfactuals, such as Bose holding on to the INC's leadership position or him returning to India after his death. We also look into Bose's infamous relationship with the Axis powers, the formation of the INA and the role it played in the freedom struggle, and his significance in modern India. We end by exploring the current effort to resurrect his legacy by the ruling BJP party. This podcast is available on YouTube, Apple, Google, Spotify, Breaker, Stitcher, and other popular platforms.
The government has announced the birthday of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the country's great nationalist, freedom fighter and founder of Azad Hind Fauj, as 'Parakram Diwas'. This year will be celebrated as the 125th birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose. The Government of India has also issued a gazette notification for this. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897 in the city of Cuttack, Odisha to Jankinath Bose. His mother's name was Prabhavati. Jankinath Bose was a famous lawyer of 'Cuttack'. The British government gave him the title of Raibahadur. Bose's father wanted him to be an ICS officer, and for this reason he sent Subhash Chandra Bose abroad. In 1920, Bose finished fourth in the ICS preference list.But Netaji's heart and mind were occupied by Swami Vivekananda's ideals. In such a situation, how did they become slaves of British by becoming ICS! Therefore, he resigned from the post. When the Simon Commission came to India in 1928, the Congress showed it black flags. Subhash Chandra Bose led this movement in Kolkata. His slogan 'You give me blood, I will give you freedom' has become the national slogan of India. The British government is said to have ordered him killed in 1941 when Netaji tried to get help from Japan and Germany. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose did not want to compromise with the British at any cost. Their goal was to liberate India. Netaji was initially associated with Mahatma Gandhi, but later he parted ways and established the Forward Block in 1939. Netaji Bose opposed India's involvement in the Second World War, then the British put him in jail. Where Netaji sat on a hunger strike, the British released him from jail and put him under house arrest. When Netaji was in command of Azad Hind Fauj, he was invited by Rasbihari Bose, the founder of Azad Hind Fauj. According to the book 'Netaji Subhash' by Dr. Rajendra Patoria "Rasbihari Bose handed over the command of Azad Hind Fauj to Subhash Chandra Bose in a ceremony at the Catha Bhawan in Singapore on 4 July 1943". Netaji then created a temporary government of independent India as the supreme commander of this army, which was also recognized by nine countries including Korea, China, Germany, Japan, Italy and Ireland. Love marriage to Emily Shankel In 1934, Bose met Emily Shankel and during this time the two got married. On 5 July 1943, as the 'Supreme Commander' in front of the Town Hall of Singapore, Netaji gave his army the slogan of 'Delhi Chalo'. In 1944, the Azad Hind Fauj attacked the British and also liberated some Indian territories from the British. Subhash Chandra Bose was jailed 11 times. The people of his family living in India still believe that Subhash Chandra Bose did not die in 1945 but he was under house arrest in Russia. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/pinkcityfm/message
