Why does 50% of India's workforce remain in agriculture while the U.S. has just 2%?Despite all those hands in the soil, the sector contributes just 15-18% to the GDP. While countries like the U.S. and Europe shifted quickly from agriculture to industry, India's progress was pretty slow. So, is it too late for India to catch up and move on from agriculture?Although India did build textile mills and steel plants, its industrialization lagged behind faster-growing Asian economies like Japan, South Korea, and China, which aggressively pursued manufacturing. So, what happened? Well, India's focus remained on agriculture, missing the chance to build a strong industrial base that could absorb its large agricultural workforce. But there's a new hurdle—manufacturing isn't the job creator it once was.Experts like Subhash Garg argue India may have missed the industrialization train. With automation reducing labour needs, ramping up manufacturing might not create enough jobs for India's vast workforce. In this episode of The Neon Show, Subhash Garg, former Secretary of Economic Affairs, shares his unique perspective on India's economic ambitions and the journey toward the $10 Trillion Dream.Check out Subhash Garg's book, We Also Make Policy : An Insider's Account of How the Finance Ministry Functions, https://www.amazon.in/We-Also-Make-Policy-Functions/dp/9356994714Timestamps00:00 - Trailer01:25 - Subhash Garg's background in economic affairs03:27 - Why has India's "10 Trillion Dollar Dream" dented10:04 - India's current GDP12:50 - Need to shift labour from agriculture to high-value sectors16:48 - Why India missed industrialisation20:26 - The global manufacturing train left—and India missed it21:55 - Why should you invest in services for real growth26:55 - Sports, gaming, and entertainment are hidden gems for rural jobs29:54 - Why is agriculture unreformed31:34 - The impact of subsidies: is it a dead-end for farmers?36:47 - Garg explains GDP with the “potato chip” example42:42 - Why is farmers' share of the final product small47:10 - India's manufacturing needs a tech boost48:22 - Why India's PLI schemes aren't hitting their targets52:58 - How India's service sector thrived due to minimal regulation1:01:57 - Garg's positive take on brain drain1:10:10 - Millionaires on the move1:11:50 - Support for short sellers as market correctors1:13:12 - Announcement of Garg's book, expected in October-------------Hi, I am your host Siddhartha! Hair Transplant Podcast - HAIR TALK with Dr.John Watts Hair Transplant Surgeon and Dermatologist

#AskDrJohnWatts What methodology should a hair transplant surgeon adopt while implanting hair on the bald whorl area on the crown? Patients frequently raise various questions about baldness, hair grafts, hair loss, hair transplant procedures, and medical treatments for hair loss, including Dr John Watts' followers. They inundate his popular YouTube channel with queries on these hair-related issues. Website: http://linktr.ee/drjohnw Website: https://trichos.in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TrichosHairTransplant In this educational video session, Dr John Watts, a renowned dermatologist, trichologist and one of Hyderabad's top hair transplant surgeons, explains the challenges involved in dealing with baldness in multiple whorls formed on the crown. What methodology should a hair transplant surgeon adopt while implanting hair on the bald whorl area on the crown? Can whorls be removed during a hair transplant procedure? Is it advisable? Dr John Watts addresses these questions in this educational video. He has successfully performed over 2000 hair transplant surgeries. Subhash PK asks: Sir, I want to know if it is possible to implant hair on the bald spots of the crown. I have three whorls where there is baldness. Is it possible to remove the whorl during a hair transplant procedure? Please explain. In addressing baldness in the whorl area of the crown, hair transplant surgeons usually find it challenging and tricky as the results are often average. In this educational video, Dr John Watts explains the challenges of implanting hair on the crown when a patient has three whorls that have gone bald or are in the process of balding. Responding to a query from Subhash, Dr Watts emphasizes that placing hair grafts in the crown area requires meticulous attention to detail. Surgeons must carefully analyse the direction, angle, and natural curvature of the hair within the whorl before proceeding with the procedure. The whorl, located at the back of the crown, features hair that spirals outward in a circular pattern, which varies significantly in size, shape, and orientation among individuals. Before implanting grafts, hair transplant surgeons meticulously mark the areas and direction on the whorl to achieve a natural-looking result that seamlessly blends with surrounding hair. Precision in graft placement is crucial to ensure that transplanted hair aligns correctly with the existing whorl pattern, minimizing aesthetic inconsistencies and achieving a harmonious appearance. Dr Watts emphasizes that while challenging, surgeons can effectively recreate or repair damaged whorls through meticulous planning and execution during the transplant procedure in response to Subhash's inquiry. However, Dr Watts cautions against attempting to remove or alter the natural whorl pattern during surgery, emphasizing the importance of preserving the scalp's natural aesthetics and ensuring long-term satisfaction with the transplant results. In conclusion, addressing bald spots in the whorl area of the crown through hair transplant requires a specialized approach tailored to each patient's unique needs. By understanding the complexities involved and employing advanced techniques, skilled surgeons l can effectively restore hair density and achieve aesthetically pleasing results in challenging areas such as the crown whorl. Trichos provides state-of-the-art treatment for various hair loss conditions and offers advanced hair transplant solutions. Call us Today for a Life-Changing Experience.

Welcome to Top of the Morning by Mint, your weekday newscast that brings you five major stories from the world of business. It's Wednesday, July 17, 2024. My name is Nelson John. Let's get started:The Indian market's benchmark indices —Nifty and Sensex—inched up during Tuesday's trading. Sensex was up by 0.06 percent, while Nifty increased by 0.11 percent.Today, we're publishing a collection of pre-budget stories, ahead of the Union Budget set to be presented next week. I'd recommend you pick up a physical copy of Mint today to read this special edition. The lead story of our special pre-budget collection is penned by Montek Singh Ahluwalia, former deputy chairman of the Planning Commission. He predicts that all roads lead to the government's massive gamut of promises to be completed by 2047. First and foremost, NDA's third successive government is likely to want to boost GDP growth even further. A fiscal deficit of 5.1 percent is achievable, Ahluwalia writes. Lastly, an overhaul of the current Goods and Services tax should also take place to aid India's economic progress. Alhuwalia lists some other challenges the government would do well to achieve a superpower status in the next two decades.India's insurance companies, barring LIC, aren't exactly in the most strong positions. Three state-owned insurance companies, namely National Insurance, Oriental Insurance, and United India Insurance, need more money in case they need to settle a high amount of claims together. Subhash Narayan and Rhik Kundu report that the upcoming Union Budget might allocate anywhere between 4,000 to 5,000 crore rupees as a shot in the arm to these insurance companies. Subhash and Rhik report that the solvency numbers of these three insurers are much worse than they should be, and a one-time infusion of funds could help with either a public listing or privatisation.Notice that groceries have gotten expensive again? Official data shows that food inflation has shot up to 9.4 percent year-on-year, the highest in six months. Vegetables are dearer by 29 percent, pulses by 16 percent, and cereals by 8.8 percent. Sayantan Bera explains these numbers, and the reasons why your shopping carts have gotten more expensive yet again.Byju's has been dealing with a lot of financial struggles of late. Yesterday, the national company law tribunal, or N-C-L-T, admitted an insolvency petition. Interestingly, the petition was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India — that's right, the management of the Indian cricket team. BCCI is suing Byju's for non-payment of dues. But the latest in this saga has dire consequences for Byju Raveendran and his team. They lose control of the startup, which will now be controlled by a resolution professional as appointed by the NCLT. Mansi Verma explains what this decision means for Byju's, its investors, and all those it has defaulted against.Financial influencers, or finfluencers, generally dole out advice to anyone willing to pay for their services. However, most of these finfluencers are unregulated — according to the Securities and Exchange Board of India, they aren't exactly qualified to advise you on your investments. But what about those who are qualified? Sashind Ningthoukhongjam writes about registered mutual fund distributors who are also doubling up as finfluencers. Sebi feels that registered entities should distance themselves from unregistered creators offering tall claims. Sashind explores this grey area by speaking to some industry experts on the matter. We'd love to hear your feedback on this podcast. Let us know by writing to us at feedback@livemint.com. You may send us feedback, tips or anything that you feel we should be covering from your vantage point in the world of business and finance. Show notes:How to pack the journey for 2047Mint Explainer: NCLT admits insolvency plea against Byju's. Here's what it means Fund infusion announcement for public sector general insurers likely in BudgetHidden in plain sight: New food inflation data Sebi is regulating influencers. What if they're also MFDs?

Media baron Subhash Chandra's rise wasn't meteoric. It was slow, and carefully crafted. From being a school dropout, he went on to set up India's first private satellite TV channel -- the Zee TV, which reportedly reaches out to 1.3 billion people. Now 72, Chandra has seen many ups and downs. But, it seems, a lot of things are stacked up against him now. Sebi has barred Chandra and his son Punit Goenka from holding the position of a director or key managerial personnel in any listed company. So, is this the end of the road for Subhash Chandra?   Apart from Subhash Chandra, another news which caught people's attention this week was of alleged data theft from the government's CoWIN platform. The Centre, meanwhile, has trashed the reports. Minister of State for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar has tweeted that the data being shared seemed to be from an earlier breach. But, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team has still been told to submit a report on the matter. Amid concerns that the leaked data could be used for identity theft, phishing emails, scams, and even extortion calls, Bhaswar Kumar spoke to experts to understand where the problem lies and how it can be fixed.    Clearly the regulator has its task cut out. And it will not be easy with the swift rise of AI. Meanwhile, markets regulator Sebi has proposed tweaks to the total expense ratio structure-- which is expected to increase cost burden for asset managers. So how can the proposed changes impact stocks of AMCs?  Sebi wants uniformity and transparency by bringing all additional expenses within the TER. Moving on, we are now a step closer to the world of spatial computing -- where the physical world fuses with the digital. Tech giant Apple recently unveiled Apple Vision Pro headset which uses spatial computing. But what is this new technology everyone is talking about? Listen to this episode of the podcast for the answers.

This week, host Akanksha Kumar is joined by Newslaundry's Tanishka Sodhi. Tanishka's story of the week was a deep-dive report on the journey of media mogul and Zee group founder Subhash Chandra Goenka. In the conversation, Tanishka revisits her excursion of gathering credible, exhaustive information on Mr Chandra and how he refused to speak to her directly as it wasn't a “completely positive story”. Tanishka goes on to talk about the aspects of Mr Chandra's character that led to his rise and an eventual fall from grace. She also spotlights his ventures that contributed to his debacle. “He is ambitious and loves a new challenge, but his impatience is the key factor in his downfall,” she says. He has published two books and several articles in journals and magazines on the karma doctrine. He's joining us today to talk about ‘The Path to Inner Peace, Mastering Karma,' which presents the fundamental principles of the Jain karma doctrine through a fictional account of the relationship between a guru and his American student. As the story unfolds, the guru instructs the student on how ‘karmic debt' is incurred as the result of personal action and how this ‘debt' can be reduced through behavioral choices. With an emphasis on nonviolent action, Jainism elucidates the path whereby karmic attachment is decreased, leading to inner peace. The Path to Inner Peace serves as an in-depth analysis of which actions lead to karmic attachment, how to avoid karmic attachment and what the consequences of karmic attachment are. Speaking about how interviewing styles have evolved, Aishwarya says, “Back in the day there was a process of observing the person for days before writing about them, now it's all public relations and you hardly get a few minutes. I wanted to observe, talk and write to know a little more than what we have already seen so I sat down for his shoot.”Tanishka talks about her report assessing media baron Subhash Chandra's Rajya Sabha term, which ended early this month. “It was interesting to see him as a parliamentarian rather than a media person,” she says of the founder of Zee media empire, “and talk about some common issues in a different capacity.” This and a lot more as they talk about what made news, what didn't, and what shouldn't have.Tune in.Contribute to our NL Sena projects, Bulldozing a New Image in MP and The Yogi Who Has it All.Timecodes00:00:00 - Introduction00:01:50 - Ranveer Singh in nude00:27:05 - Subhash Chandra as MP00:42:39 - RecommendationsRecommendationsAishwaryaMarry MeTanishkaFrom print to primetime: The making of Navika Kumar Sweet BobbyNidhiFrank Sinatra Has a ColdProduced and recorded by Tehreem Roshan, edited by Umrav Singh and Chanchal Gupta.
