We're all improvising through life. But we often second guess our choices. Improv doesn't let you do that. What if you trusted your instinct, picked a path, and just ran with it? Today, I sat down with Gabriel and Seth—two friends from my improv class—to learn how life and improv go hand in hand. In the simplest of terms, improv is acting without a script. But it's so much more. Improv can also help you get out of your own head to finally do the thing. Are you ready to let down your guard in a safe place where everyone is on an equal playing field? Here's why Gabriel and Seth believe improv is for everyone. Keep the conversation going! Come hang out with Gabriel and Seth at Finest City Improv in San Diego. Follow @jauquestrappe on Instagram to stay connected with Gabriel. And check out his podcast, The Third Seat.

If you ask any given individual if they have a favorite teacher, educator, or professor from their time in school, the odds are is that they will at least have one individual that made a lasting impact on them during school. During my years in school there were many people who positively impacted my life (shoutout to my 5th grade history teacher, Mrs. Smith
On the fourth installment of Sincerely, Yours Truly you'll get to hear some of my thoughts & reflections on my recent graduation from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (Go Mocs!). My hope is that this episode will be both interesting & informative for anyone, regardless of whether or not they are planning on pursuing a collegiate degree. Oftentimes, going into a new environment, such as attending a university for the first time, can be extremely intimidating if you are unprepared. However, if there is any major takeaway from my experience in college it is that a little bit of preparation & a proactive attitude can go a long way when we go through new experiences in life.As always, thank you for tuning into & supporting the podcast! As children we often have big dreams and aspirations of what we want our lives to look like when we get older. "I want to be an astronaut!" or "I want to grow up to be a world famous singer!" are sometimes where we start, yet our dreams & priorities tend to change over time. Nevertheless, people who are able to set a goal in their life from the very beginning & work to achieve that goal are people who I believe are worth admiring & learning from.In today's episode you'll get to hear my conversation with someone who did exactly this: my sister! Throughout this episode we talk about how she got to where she is now, our enjoyment of fitness, and much more! Around 4 years ago in the fall of 2018 I moved to Chattanooga, TN as a freshman attending The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This was not my first time in Chattanooga, but it was the first time in my life I was truly living on my own away from home. Fast forward to the present where Chattanooga has not only become where I currently live, but also one of most special places in my heart for all that it brings to the table. Genjo Marinello Osho gave this Teisho during the Nov., 14, 2021 Zazenkai at Chobo-Ji. This talk examines the Mumonkan - Case 25: "The Talk of the Monk of the Third Seat." How does the Zen tradition understand dreams? Are we dreaming right now?
Sometimes, during interactions, we fail to identify the third-person perspective - the one from which we can see a complete conversation from the outside. In this episode, Colin talks about the value to be found in "taking the third seat" when it comes to discussions and outcomes. KEY TAKEAWAYS By taking an outside perspective on a conversation, we are better able to see the best outcomes for all parties. If we are providing a service, gaining an understanding about how our clients feel about us during good times and bad, can make a real difference to our conversations. BEST MOMENTS 'Try to step into the shoes of the person who's looking in from the outside' 'Is there something that we're missing?' In this time of COVID and quarantine and shutdown, with what we took to be normal being turned on its head and flipped inside out and all about, the heightened quality and experience of existence in this in-between bardo realm is alive and present for many. A common feature seem to be seemingly insignificant people and events from the past showing up in people's dreams - not necessarily with anything of import to offer or reveal, simply showing up, as if some portals from other times and realms have been opened as a result of all that is happening. This certainly adds to the dreamlike quality of life itself these days, the boundaries and edges of the frameworks that used to hold us up and provide steady orientation softening, blurring, fading away, leading us to drift and amble along in this dreamland bardo of our world. And there's no need - and no point, really - in trying to make sense of it all, pin it down and figure it out. Instead, we can settle, lean in, and listen, listen...Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/apalmr)
