Lux Radio Theatre, sometimes spelled Lux Radio Theater, a classic radio anthology series, was broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934–35) (owned by the National Broadcasting Company, later predecessor of American Broadcasting Company [ABC] in 1943–1945); CBS Radio network (Columbia Broadcasting System) (1935–54), and NBC Radio (1954–55). Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays during its first two seasons before it began adapting films. These hour-long radio programs were performed live before studio audiences. The series became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s. The primary sponsor of the show was Unilever through its Lux Soap brand. Today's story is a first for us. This is the first story we've been sent from overseas, and it's the first Mothman story we've been sent from another country. The couple who witnessed the creature are from Witbank, South Africa. One sighting occurred in October of 2022 and the other right before the Christmas Holiday on December 23rd, 2022. This first sighting occurred around 9:00 PM at night, back in October. The gentleman was alone sitting in the street waiting for his wife. He said that he started to feel uneasy, he looked up and there was a figure standing in the darkness down the street from him. He looked away for a second and then it was gone when he looked back. After this he decided to stand up to go see what it was, and that's when two dogs came charging towards him looking like they were going to attack him. When the dogs got about two meters away the dogs stopped in their tracks, then turned and ran the other way as if something scared them off. That's when he saw the thing standing directly in front of him. It opened its wings up and took off into the sky. It looked like a cross between a bird and a man, it looked dark brown colored. The second sighting took place on December 23rd 2022. This one was sent over by the gentleman's wife. They were walking over to a shop near their house at about 8:00PM to buy a few things when a truck with two people in the back of it stopped. They noticed that the two in the truck were looking up at something. The lady said she began to feel a feeling of dread and looked up, that's when she noticed what she described as a creature looking like what her husband had described to her previously. A large bird-like man, with a giant wingspan. It was in the air flying in circles above them.At this point they decided to turn around and head home. Along the way they looked back a few times and noticed it was still flying in the same spot.. They swore to each other that they would not be going back outside under any circumstances for the rest of the night. This pair of sightings is obviously different in some ways than our usual encounters. They saw one of our Mothman stories on our new “Mothman Sightings” Facebook group and thought it sounded like what they saw and decided to reach out to me. Even though this story isn't exactly Appalachian, Mothman encounters are always welcome!I thought it was interesting that the gentleman thought the creature felt like it was a protector, and his wife in the second case reported that she felt a feeling of dread and that it felt evil.I'm really excited to get our first Mothman sighting in from another country and our first submission from that part of the world! I hope we get more in the future. Thank you both for sending in these sightings! Remember if you've had a paranormal encounter be sure to email us and tell your story. We may end up featuring it. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In today's podcast we begin by recapping my Christmas with my small family and some life lessons that came from it. Then we get into the news with Rand Paul's annual "Festivus" list of government waste followed by Governor Abbot's big gift for Kamala Harris: Over 100 illegal aliens. Of course, we touch on a few other headlines before we speak to John Hayward, our deputy world editor. We cover a lot of ground with him including a massive surge in coronavirus in China (but miraculously no death, allegedly), Christian persecution on the rise around the world, and even his theory on why Avatar 2 is not doing well at the box office.
The Steak for Breakfast Podcast is back following the Christmas Holiday with a news-packed episode ahead of our 200th episode. We begin today with our Cold Open that continues to examine the crisis down on the U.S. Southern Border. We hear arguments from all angels and provide commentary. News Block One highlights the twitter files continuing dominance of the internet with the latest disclosures proving that more intelligence agencies than just the FBI were shaping the narratives and we finally are seeing how the community centre application pushed an alternative reality during Covid-19. With the 118th Congress set to be sworn in on January 3rd, the battle for the next Speaker of House rages on amongst the Republican caucuses. At the same time, Republican delegates are set to elect an RNC Chair on January 27th. At this point, does it really matter who is elected to hold the current vacancies within the party leadership, and if so, can they tear through enough of the preexisting red tape to make a difference by 2024? We'll debate just that in our Second News Block. Everybody knows that the Holidays can be extremely stressful. Whether it's from fear of giving a bad gift, spending excessive time with certain family members, or having to travel, there is a solution that may work. Oscar-nominated actor Chris Sarandon joins The Art of Kindness with Robert Peterpaul for a holiday special! The star discusses working on Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, acts of kindness he received throughout his illustrious acting career and much more. Chris Sarandon was born and raised in West Virginia to restaurateurs Chris and Cliffie Sarandon. He eventually earned a degree in speech at West Virginia University and then a master's degree in theater from The Catholic University of America. In 1968, Sarandon settled in New York City, where he obtained his first television credit on the series The Guiding Light, which led to some TV movie roles before he made his acclaimed turn in Dog Day Afternoon in 1975. The performance earned him nominations for Best New Male Star of the Year at the Golden Globes and even the coveted Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Some of his other screen roles over the years include: the long-running series ER, co-starring with Dennis Hopper in the 1983 movie The Osterman Weekend, starring opposite Goldie Hawn in Protocol, and the cult classic horror film Fright Night. Of course, Chris is forever remembered for his endearing turn in The Princess Bride, leading the film Child's Play and then voicing the main character of Jack Skellington for one of the most beloved holiday films of all time: Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Since it's the Broadway Podcast Network, we also have to note that Sarandon has appeared on Broadway many times, including: The Rothschilds, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and The Light in the Piazza. Niners continue to roll and now on a 7-game win streak after taking the show up to Seattle and putting it on the Seahawks to clinch the Western Division Title! Brock Purdy continued to roll as did the Niner's top ranked defense. Three games left as we fight for the 2nd seed in the NFC and some home field games. Just keep playing Niner ball and this will be a special Holiday Season indeed!!For our “Christmas/Holiday” show we deliberately picked Operation Freedom Paws, a non-profit organization serving veterans through paring and training them with rescued service dogs. Nothing says happy holidays like rescued dogs matched with veterans, and trained as service dogs. This is an amazing feel-good story about this dog and vet-friendly non-profit located in San Martin, CA. OFP was founded by Mary Cortani, an Army and Vietnam era veteran, who is a certified Army Master Instructor of Canine Education and an American Kennel Club Certified Canine Good Citizen© Evaluator. Mary serves as the OFP President and Executive Director of Operations. Mary started OFP in 2010 after she was contacted by a vet who was facing a 1-year wait period to be matched with a service dog. After looking into it Mary found the need was immense and she in turn answered the call. Why match veterans with service dogs you might ask. Well, simply because dogs are amazing and when properly matched and well trained, they can read their veterans and help alert them and protect them and assist them in navigating the perils and challenges of living life with PTSD (and a variety of other mental and/or physical challenges). OFP not only rescues all their dogs, they also then train the veterans to train the dogs through a lengthy and detailed training program. The match and bonding that takes place makes all the difference and the results are amazing. You will hear Mary's story along with 2 of their veterans who have gone through the program and live with their own OFP service dogs. We met them and their pups and honestly it was all so amazing the difference these dogs make in the lives of these veterans. We know you will enjoy the show and encourage you to check them out and consider supporting them. Happy Holidays!! Wherever you are and whoever you are with, we wish you the very best and most wonderful of times. Take care of yourself, set limits, say no if needed and yes only if you want to. Stay connected and remember you are not alone!! Love, peace, gratitude, and grace, for you and all your tribe this holiday season. In this episode of Owning It, I'm talking about the various contributing factors that can give rise to anxiety at Christmas time (or 'the holidays' if you're in America/Canada). Why do we feel more pressure at Christmas? How can we shift our mindset to make Christmas more enjoyable? And looking ahead to the new year, when the self care machine goes into overdrive, I'm talking about how I'm approaching January with a goal of self maintenance over constant self improvement. Katie Mahon and Joan Hill are Miracle Collectors. Both these extraordinary women experienced profound miracles in their lives, which set them in pursuit of the miracle stories of other people. This collection is featured in their book, The Miracle Collectors - Uncovering Stories of Wonder, Joy and Mystery. Katie and Joan were guests on The Spiritual Forum podcast in July of 2021 (Episodes 144 & 145) and Rev. Carol brought them back to share inspiring miracle stories around the holiday season. Miracles inspire hope and hold the possibility of transcending divisions because they connect us at the soul level. In this episode we share several heartening Christmas/holiday miracle stories and discuss the common themes. Among them are: We are all have the opportunity to be miracles for others The Christmas/holiday season is a time to give all that we have Miracles can be large or small - we tend to discount them if they are small It takes a 'looking out the window' attitude to step into the opportunities that life presents us Introverted or extraverted, we need to get out of our boxes and into the world It's important to receive/accepte help whether we are comfortable or not Seeing another person is a gift; everyone wants to be seen We may never know the impact we have on people Christmas is a time of Hope and Love. We hope this podcast warms your heart and inspires your holiday season. "Our lives are lived in the quiet corners of the ordinary. We build tiny hearth fires, sometimes barely strong enough to give off warmth. But to the person lost in the darkness, our tiny flame may be the road to safety, the path to salvation." (THSP Classic Episode!) Originally recorded Tuesday December 13th, 2016 with a original air date of December 20th, 2016. Happy Holidays, fans! That Horror Show Podcast is back with a very special Christmas-themed episode for you horror movie lovers out there. Yes, the Christmas tree is up with all the trimmings, the stockings are hung by the fireplace, and the eggnog with an extra pinch of brandy is ready to be consumed. And yes, that annoying little ‘Elf on the Shelf' has been tied up and locked in the closet where he should be! Anyways, join in on the festivities as hosts Timothy Kazda and Chris Koenig review two holiday horror movies: “Black Christmas” and…well, "Black Christmas”. That's right, Tim and Chris sing their praises over the Bob Clark classic “Black Christmas” (1974), as well as offer their grievances over Glen Morgan's remake “Black Christmas” (2006). But wait, there's more: Tim and Chris also offer their favorite non-horror themed Christmas movies. Listen in as Chris talks a bit about his holiday favorites “Bad Santa” (2003), “Scandal” (1950) and “Larceny Inc.” (1942), while Tim reveals his holiday pleasures “The Long Kiss Goodnight” (1996), “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation” (1989) and “It's a Wonderful Life” (1946). Consider this little segment a hybrid of the ‘What Have We Watched' segment that you all know and love (and, in case if you are wondering, we will be bringing that segment back for next year's episodes, we promise!). #BlackChristmas #BobClark #THSP
