Today I'm republishing an episode with the incredible Jennifer Kindera. As I say during our interview, "This is why I do this podcast." It's because I get to interview people like her. Jennifer says, "As a complex trauma survivor who has been traveling the path of recovery for over 30 years, I was diagnosed with PTSD, depression and anxiety at the age of twenty due to abuse in childhood. I deeply understands the pain of living with traumas that aren't integrated, and how codependency (toxic love,) shame, addiction and narcissistic abuse can play a huge role in keeping us small in our own story."The Certified Trauma Specialist Course- As an Accredited Instructor for the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching, Jennifer Kindera is excited to offer the Certified Trauma Specialist course, to enable you to add foundational knowledge of certified trauma-informed care to your already existing profession. Since 2018, Jennifer has been mentoring, teaching, and guiding budding trauma recovery coaches to bring trauma-responsive care out into the world. Bobbi Parish is the Founder and Executive Director of the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching. Bobbi started the association in 2017 to support a global need to heal from trauma. In transparency, I am certified as a Trauma Recovery Coach through the Association, having completed the Initial and Advanced certificates. A survivor of childhood abuse herself, Bobbi used her graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy to work with other trauma survivors. She switched from therapy to coaching in 2014, finding the freedom to tell her clients that she loved them just as they are. After experiencing how powerfully coaching helped survivors of trauma heal, Bobbi decided to help others become Trauma Recovery Coaches. As one person she could help a limited number of survivors heal, but teaching other coaches and sending them into the world provides thousands of survivors with high quality, easily accessible help. (Trigger Warning: In recounting her origin story, Bobbi shares her story of trauma and survival.) Why is this such an important message to get out to the world? Because there is hope for trauma survivors. She's created a program that welcomes you home, to a safe place, to be loved, seen, heard, understood and cared for. She is building an team of Trauma Recovery Coaches who have lived experience who want to support and help other trauma survivors. "I'm here with you. How do we get out together?" A must listen. Learn with us. Heal with us. Come join the global movement of trauma recovery! In this very special edition of Sandwich Parenting, Sherry Yuan Hunter has a conversation with Bobbi Parish. Not only is she doing this work for own healing journey and for her clients through theirs, Kimberly is also a Supervisor for the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching. That is to say, she's so passionate about this work that she is helping other coaches too. Confident, authentic, compassionate, passionate, and energetic, she is a single mother of four boys, who also deals with a chronic health issue (autoimmune disease) that will never be able to stop her from achieving her goals. It may remind her when she needs to rest and recover, but she will never be defined by her illness. In our conversation, she explores the expectations on her and the successful achievements (SO MANY) from her life as the child of (SUPER) high achieving parents, the outward public view versus the internal family reality, and why she chooses to parent differently than how she was parented. In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, Trauma Recovery Coaches Bradley Hall and Will Wissmiller sit down to talk trauma and recovery.    Will's Bio:   Will offers insight and intuitive guidance to help his clients break patterns negatively affecting their daily lives. As an Advanced Certified Trauma Recovery Coach with the International Association of Trauma Recovery Coaching, he is passionate about, and intimately familiar with, helping others overcome the effects of Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), also known as Developmental Trauma. Will also loves to help anyone who wants to achieve more authentic and secure attachments in their personal and professional relationships. Another of Will's passions is his work as NeuroAffective Touch® practitioner.   This unique form of bodywork, designed specifically to help clients heal from Developmental Trauma, not only allows Will to help his in-person clients quickly and effectively release the hold of past trauma on the body and mind (it's great for stress relief too!) - it also informs his approach to healing as a Trauma Recovery Coach: namely, addressing how the body AND the mind store the effects of trauma, and can establish how we show up in the world.
