Two bills that aim to further close gender and racial pay gap got a hearing on Tuesday in front of the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. We take a look at the proposals with advocates, and take stock of what further needs to be done to close those gaps.
Two bills, introduced in the State House, that call for allowing juveniles to get out of prison after 10 years, will face scrutiny in Lansing today. WWJ's Charlie Langton has more. (Credit: Getty) A Detroit woman is facing charges after robbing and assaulting an elderly woman.
Because Republicans and Trumpsters know they are unable put down their own suicide pills, they soldier on in denying women (the majority gender) their basic reproductive rights — and they continue making it so easy for mass killers to buy as many assault rifles as they want (according to The New Republic, American citizens have now stockpiled 400 million guns in their homes, more than the entire US armed forces, Dept. of Homeland Security, and all local police agencies combined). And women, young adults and people of color, by a large margin, hate the Right for making this happen. On top of all of that, Republicans tried to remove from office two young elected Black Tennessee House members for standing up against this gun violence, thus denying 175,000 Tennesseans their voice in the State Capitol. Millions of young voters have sent their anti-Republican memes and TikToks everywhere and they will determinedly continue their decades-long rejection of this old, stale, rotten Party. In this episode of his Rumble podcast, Michael Moore explores the impending end of a GOP hell-bent on throwing themselves over a cliff. The 2023 Legislative Session has dropped some controversial bills in front of Utahns — and a slough of recent voting bills are no exception. Salt Lake Tribune columnist Robert Gehrke tells host Ali Vallarta why he's calling these bills “anti-democratic” and why the people who always win would want to make it harder to vote. Should Librarians face a fine and jail time if they check out a book to minors that could be seen as obscene? There is a bill going through the Idaho legislature that would make it against the law for a Librarian to hand some material over to a minor. Have your kids ever checked out something concerning from the library? Another bill making it's way through the Idaho Legislature is a bill that would make it a felony for any medical professional to use transgender affirming medications or surgeries on anyone under the age of eighteen. Do you think that this is a role of government, or something that should be handled between the child, their parents, and a doctor? (3/7/22)
