A standout on special teams for the Bills during his 12 seasons with the team, Tasker made a name for himself around the league. Not only did his outstanding achievements on the field earn him numerous accolades, his commitment to the region solidified his place in the hearts of Bills fans everywhere. Tasker, who remained close to the game through his broadcast work for CBS, will get back to his roots with Buffalo when he joins the Voice of the Bills John Murphy as co-host of “One Bills Live,” presented by Kaleida Health. Like its predecessor, “The John Murphy Show,” “One Bills Live” will give fans a daily dose of the latest Bills news. The only show live from the home of the Bills – One Bills Drive – fans can follow along with Tasker and Murphy, as well as special guests, as they tackle all the hottest topics happening around the NFL. The show will remain at its current time from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and will be available on WGR Sports Radio 550, MSG Networks and the MSG Go app.Murphy, who over the years has developed a close relationship with Tasker, believes the Bills icon is the perfect addition to the show. “I've known Steve since he came here in 1986,” said Murphy. “Shortly after that, he started doing television shows. When I was at Channel 7, he hosted “The Steve Tasker Show” and I was the co-host…I've known him for 30-plus years. One of the many good things about Steve doing the show, is he's a broadcaster. He's been at CBS for 21 years at the highest level of football broadcasting.“He comes in with all that experience – all his football experience, playing at a very high level for several years and making Pro Bowls. Adding in his broadcast background, which is pretty impressive, I think it will make him a great addition to the show.” While Tasker's impressive resume undoubtedly gives him a unique perspective to share with viewers, Murphy believes that its Tasker's time spent in Buffalo that makes him truly special and able to connect with his audience.“Steve always impressed me," said Murphy. “Not that players aren't tuned into the reality, but Steve has always been tuned into real life. He knows what it's like not to be in the NFL. He lives his life like a person who is not a former professional athlete in many ways. He's easy to relate to. I think fans already know that. Fans are familiar with him from all the TV work he's done. He brings an everyman aspect to the show and he's committed to this area. I think people tap into that.” For Tasker, this next chapter in his career is one that he's ready to embrace fully. “The Buffalo Bills have been a tremendous part of my life and I am very eager to begin this opportunity,” said Tasker. “This is an exciting time in franchise history and I am thrilled to get involved on a daily basis. I look forward to working with Murph to connect with Bills fans who have been so supportive of me for a long time.” 2024 © 2021 Audacy, Inc. Sports False https://player.amperwave
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses several of the top and second tier defensive lineman prospects that Buffalo Bills fans should definitely start familiarizing themselves with before the NFL Draft a handful of weeks from now. There's several reasons the Bills will be picking defensive line early and perhaps often in this draft. Between the looming six game suspensions of new free agent signees Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi, the expected ease with snaps early on with Joey Bosa and the fact several prominent lineman are in the final year of their deals (Bosa, Ogunjobi, Daquan Jones, AJ Epenesa) there's both immediate and long term needs there.Patrick goes over a lot of the top prospects at both edge and defensive tackle. James Pearce Jr. feels like a guy he thinks fans should keep an eye on at edge and wonders if Brandon Beane has the guts to take a chance with Mike Green while he'd be tickled pink to see Buffalo take Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant at defensive tackle with their first pick.He also shares his thoughts on Christian Benford's new contract, the incredible in-house offseason has put together and comments from the Bills GM that makes it sound like James Cook get a contract extension anytime soon is extremely far fetched. That plus show mixups and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Thurman Thomas sits down with me to talk about his fatherhood journey. He shares why he and his wife, Patti were all about teaching their kids about kindness. In addition he shares the life lessons his kids have taught him. Plus he also gives advice about adoption. After that we talk about his fantastic football career that landed him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Plus we talk about the work he and the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund did with Southern Recipe Pork Rinds. Lastly, we finish the interview with the Fatherhood Quick Five. About Thurman Thomas Thurman Thomas developed into one of the NFL's most versatile and dangerous offensive players in his 13 years in the league. He was also known as one of the team's most emotional leaders for the Buffalo Bills a team that won more games (103) than any AFC team in the 1990s. His ability to catch the ball as well as run with it was a key ingredient to the Bills' "No Huddle" offensive attack. In 1991, Thomas amassed more than 2,000 all-purpose yards, just the 11th player ever to do so. Named to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the 1990s, Thomas was selected first- or second-team All-Pro and All-AFC five times, and was voted to the Pro Bowl five straight years. Thomas retired as the NFL's ninth ranked rusher with 12,074 yards and added another 4,458 yards on 472 catches. He scored 65 rushing and 23 receiving touchdowns in his 13-season career. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to discuss a variety of topics and teams, including the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Bandits in addition to thoughts on a Super Bowl this Sunday that apparently many Bills fans are boycotting. Many Bills fans are still mad that the Kansas City Chiefs are the AFC representative in the Super Bowl for a third straight year after defeating Buffalo in the conference championship game. Some annoyed the Bills lost and others still thinking the officials helped KC win, to the point in some minds that the game was rigged. As a result many are claiming to boycott the game. Patrick has several thoughts on this, thinking most saying they're not watching it are full of crap as well as reaction to those who actually are going to skip it. PK's then asked for some perspective on the 2024 Bills season and elaborates on some of his favorite things and moments from what was a fun campaign. He also puts on his GM hat and gives some insight as to what he thinks Brandon Beane should be prioritizing this offseason. The attention turns to the Sabres and Patrick's still extremely angry at the organization, especially after the Tage Thompson cheap shot non-response last week that he refuses to move past. How does PK feel about that incident, the direction of the club and what may lie ahead for them? That plus the Bandits remain elite in lacrosse and much more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast. It's another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Patrick Moran is responding to several takes and questions, including several angry fans wondering at what point does Sean McDermott's miscues become fireable offenses and if Brandon Beane is ready to risk another season of Josh Allen's prime. The NFL truly is a week-to-week league and the Bills are the poster child for that right now. Three weeks in Buffalo was undefeated and couldn't do no wrong. Two games later there's a mob of fans calling for McDermott's head among others. Patrick talks about what he thinks it would take for a McDermott firing to actually become a reality---a scenario that's extremely far fetched. Can McDermott ultimately get this team over the hump or is he destined to be the coach with a second-round playoff exit ceiling? Patrick also talks about how he's worried that the organization is being too patient with what he considers a critical season in Allen's career and talks about how it's ridiculous to expect him to play at this level for several more years considering the way he plays the game. Topics also covered include Curtis Samuel underachieving, Damar Hamlin being a liability, the team never being healthy enough, catharsis being therapeutic and much more. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter: @PatrickMoranTB Facebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube: Talking Buffalo Podcast YouTube Channel Learn more about your ad choices.
