Hey hey, I wanted to take a moment to extend a warm hello to each and every one of you. It's been a while since I last did a solo episode, and I sincerely appreciate your continued support and viewership, especially for those who've been following this podcast on YouTube. If you're currently tuned in on YouTube, don't forget to show some love by hitting that "like" button and subscribing to our channel. In today's episode, I share the notion of entrepreneurship as a calling and its profound connection to our life's purpose. While some identify as entrepreneurs, it's crucial to recognize that how we shape and nurture our businesses can be vastly different. This diversity stems from the unique gifts and talents that each of us possesses, gifts and abilities that God has placed within us. www.momentswithnderru.com
1 Corinthians 14:20-40 / In 1 Corinthians chapter 14, Paul begins addressing the gift of speaking in tongues directly. Paul was concerned by the Corinthians emphasis on the more eccentric gifts that didn't edify the body. In this sermon, we will discuss how understanding and order produce edification in the body of Christ.
1 Corinthians 14:1-19 / In 1 Corinthians chapter 14, Paul begins addressing the gift of speaking in tongues directly. Paul was concerned by the Corinthians emphasis on the more eccentric gifts that didn't edify the body. In this sermon, we will discuss how the act of preaching best exemplifies charity and is the primary emphasis for the New Testament believer.
1 Corinthians 13:8-13 / While studying spiritual gifts, we have learned that charitable love is necessary if we hope to be of any use at all to God's mission. Charity is more important than our ability to exercise our gifting or our identity in ministry. With those thoughts in mind, the Apostle Paul reveals to us that in fact, some of the spiritual gifts were meant to be temporary and would one day be replaced by something more perfect and complete. In this sermon we discover what that means and what it looks like to truly prioritize eternal things as we minister the gospel.
In this third episode, Jared Burkholder will explore the beautiful diverse unity of a church family. 1 Corinthians 12:27-13:3 Over the last few studies, we have learned how God has uniquely gifted every believer and how he uses that gifting in unison with our local church to glorify his name. In this sermon we talk about the special ingredient that gives our gifting purpose - charity. With it, our ministry will be mature - without it, everything becomes vain.
1 Corinthians 12:12-26 The Apostle Paul has been addressing the church in Corinth about “spiritual gifts” - the unique traits God has given to each believer so that they might have an impact on His kingdom. As chapter twelve continues, Paul shares how one's spiritual gifting should serve into the missional objectives of the local church. We are reminded that each Christian is only as useful as as they are integrated into the body of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:1-11 Spiritual gifts can be a complex topic, particularly in a Christian world that has manipulated the concept of God's gifting to satisfy their desire for emotionally charged experiences. In this sermon we learn how a Christian can discern the differences between false spiritualism and authentic Spirit-led worship. We also take time to define and understand the spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians.

Join Jamie Deering as she shares stories and considers with curiosity what it is to be present to oneself and others as we allow God to flow through us in the midst of different ways of thinking, seeing and being in the world. For a video version of this episode, see: https://youtu.be/PZ9MDBvRbe8 From Jamie's interview: “One of the first and primary ways that God grabbed a hold of me and that I knew the presence of God in me and in the world, was through music. When I was four years old, I began piano lessons and when I was in elementary school, there was a choir and I was so excited to be part of this, creating music with our bodies and with our souls, which has felt to me like a special portal, a special pathway to God. … The thread of music through my entire life is what has anchored me in knowing and experiencing God's presence.” “It was so important for me as my kids were growing up to be sure that they had this experience of the diversity of humankind and the diversity of thought and movement and ideas. … It was such a blessing and gift to be exposed to different ways of thinking, different ways of being in the world. I served in the Peace Corps, as you know, and lived in Macedonia for a little under two years. That plus my experiences in a variety of churches throughout my formative spiritual formation years was understanding the power of a community to form, to be so influential, in how our worldview, I'll stick with me, how my worldview was formed.” “Recently a friend of mine distinguished for me this word, interdependence, and we've been having conversations. We come from different cultures and so I've been curious about, again, the formation of this person coming, growing up in a different culture. And my growing up in the American culture, in sort of a spirit of independence; this other culture was a spirit of interdependence. I've been learning more about what that is and connecting that to all the experiences that I've had; they have been helpful in pointing me to what it means to be interdependent and communal in thinking.” “There are some things in contemplation we can do to set down striving; this concept of being with our thoughts then gets integrated in somatic presence with being in our bodies, being in my body. What is my body experiencing right now? Because our bodies live in present time. And so to the degree that I can be in my body, I can be present in present time. So there's that sense of being with. Then in spiritual direction, being with another, companioning another. Again, it's so important for me to be able to know what it is that's going on in me, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, so that I can hold space. So I can offer that space to another person for them to be with whatever is going on in them.” “Haecceitas … this notion that we are all uniquely gifted by God for work here on earth for God. Presence in God through us, manifesting God through us in the world. I feel this mysterious, mystical, and special gift that my gifts now are partnered so beautifully with the Franciscan Sisters, and what might God be bringing into the world through us.” “There's an expression in contemplative prayer of the wellspring of love, the wellspring of God; that is probably the primary image that I use when I'm leading contemplation, because the wellspring is always available to us. Always. We just sit by the wellspring, contemplating the wellspring, being with the wellspring of love.” “Living life from a place of curiosity - I find that to be very Franciscan. And expanding beyond that, the spiritual journey, to live from curiosity. To be listeners seeking to understand another, is also very Franciscan, rather than be understood. …The wellspring cultivates curiosity and the ability to be with another and hold space for another's essence, to see another in their essence.” For a full transcript, please include episode number and email: fslfpodcast@fslf.org. “With great power comes great responsibility.” Most people attribute that quote to Uncle Ben from Spiderman or even the Frenchman from the 18th century, Voltaire. But the roots of that quote go all the way back to Jesus in Luke 12:48: “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded.” In this message Pastor Jeff brings awareness to the truth that you are uniquely gifted by God and have a great responsibility to use those gifts. Thursday night was one of my favorite evenings all year. The Peninsula high school and Palos Verdes high school basketball teams squared off in their rival basketball games. In a packed house of rowdy students, parents, teachers, administrators, and youth pastors, both teams competed for pride and "hill dominance." Perhaps one of my favorite moments came after the boy's game, which saw the Panthers beat the Sea Kings 66-60. Shortly after the students left with their respective schools one PV cheerleader ran up to her friends from Pen high and enthusiastically greeted them with a warm hug. This struck me as something significant. She was living into the great commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves. Even after a tough lost, she was able to keep a school rivalry in perspective and embrace her friends. She did not allow competition to prevent her from the greater gift of connecting with others. Last week we learned from James that the purpose of life is to love God and love each other. This Sunday we will continue that conversation to discuss how we are to love each other even when we are uniquely different. We will explore how we are called to be people who seek to understand one another, and in doing so, we are able live life the way God intended us to live. Matt
You are Uniquely Gifted by God...for Others
2 Timothy 1:6-12
Mark 6:34-44
God has uniquely gifted and blessed you to accomplish all that he has planned for you through the effective working of the Holy Spirit in you doing greater then you can even think, Hope, ask or imagine.Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”James 1:17 As a child of God, you have been Blessed by the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, Who has blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places IN Christ. Ephesians 1:3Your heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!Luke 11:13 The Spirit of the LORD has came and rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:2, Luke 4:18-19The term gift or charima denotes any good gift that flows from God's love.A spiritual gift or charism (plural: charisms or charismata; in Greek singular: χάρισμα charism, plural: χαρίσματα charismata) is an endowment or extraordinary power given by the Holy Spirit. These are the supernatural Graces which individual Believers need to live the victorious life God bought and paid for with the Precious Blood of His Only Begotten Son Jesus CHRIST.In I Corinthians 12:4-11 the Holy Spirit Reveals More of His Extraordinary Power or Endowments He Gives us who are born of the Spirit of God – the Holy Spirit Himself. He starts off by telling us:There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments - gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit, and they vary, but the Holy Spirit remains the same. KEY is the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:.Additionally, It Is IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: All these gifts, achievements, abilities endowments or extraordinary power given by the Holy Spirit are inspired and brought to pass by one and the same Holy Spirit, Who apportions, distributing to each person individually exactly as He chooses. 1 Corinthians 12:11 These extraordinary graces given to individual Believers Born of the Holy Spirit are for the GOOD of other, and to build up the entire Church – but Body of Christ.Because they are freely given by God, they cannot be earned or merited. Though worked through individuals, these are operations or manifestations of the Holy Spirit—not of the gifted person. The Holy Spirit is actively at work IN you and For you and Through you by the working of His Mighty Power That Raised Jesus from the Dead, which NOW is at Work WITHIN you and Empowering you with Spiritual endowments-gifts, fruits, attributes to TO DO those Good Works which He Planned in Advance for you TO DO, Enabling you to Carry out His Purpose and do Super Abundantly, Far over and above All that you dare ask or think – Infinitely beyond your highest prayers, dreams, thoughts, hopes or desires. (Ephesians 2:10, 3:20)Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. (John 14:12-14)For Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)
