Gigi Hansen takes us on a magical journey from her early days in Slidell, Louisiana all the way to landing her dream job for a major media giant. After explaining how she and her sisters got their nicknames, Gigi guides us through some tumultuous years. From Mobile, Alabama her freshman year of high school, her dad's decision to move to Tembagapura, Indonesia and to Wasatch Academy which eventually turned out her rock solid group of friends she cherishes to this day. After a brief stint at Louisiana State University, she'd had enough and returned to her heart in Utah to attend University of Utah where she immediately found peace and joy. We reminisce some on the magical summer of 1982 in Tembagapura where we had talks that certainly shaped my outlook going forward. Gigi is authentic and has very little patience for the pretentious among us. She met her amazing husband John, who'd served a mission in England, and had two beautiful children Josh and Alivia and grandchildren Lillianne and Charlie. She has run her husband's successful business for more than 20 years and has landed her dream job. Emma Chiappetta is a mathematics instructor, instructional coach, and director of faculty development at Wasatch Academy, a boarding school in central Utah. Her purpose across all of these roles is to bring out the best in each of the students and teachers she works with. She listens carefully and with empathy to their stories, helps them discover their strengths, and brainstorms solutions with them that are compatible with their values.  In the classroom, Emma works hard to create a community of curious problem solvers that are brave in the face of challenges. She is particularly interested in the role that authentic assessment, project based learning, and competency based education play in creating lifelong learners. In addition to her work in schools, Emma is passionate about sharing her experiences as an educator with other teachers. She keeps her own blog and is a regular contributor to education blogs like Edutopia. She has also shared her classroom experiences on “The 10 Minute Teacher Podcast” and "Ready Set Learn”, as well as authored the book, Creating Curious Classrooms: The Beauty of Questions. Emma earned her bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College, a master's in mathematics from Dartmouth College, and a master's in education from Clemson University. Today on the Basketball Manitoba Podcast, we have Emmanuel Akot. Emmanuel first attended Valley Gardens Middle School, then Kildonan East Collegiate up until the 10th grade. He played with both the Winnipeg Mayhem and Winnipeg Wolves Basketball Clubs, then received an offer to attend Wasatch Academy Prep Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. As a senior at Wasatch Academy, he averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game. He was a member of the Canadian National Team program in the summer of 2016, representing the country at the U17 FIBA World Championships in Spain. He was selected to the Bio-Steel All-Canadian Game and the NBA All-Star Game's Basketball Without Borders Camp in 2017.  He was a Four-Star recruit by ESPN and was recruited to play at the University of Arizona, where he played for two seasons. He then transferred to Boise State, where he helped lead the Broncos to the school's first-ever Mountain West Conference title, earning a berth into the NCAA March Madness tournament. This fall, he will be suiting up for coach Penny Hardaway with the Memphis Tigers in the AAC.
