Niyah tells us about her goals ahead of the next season before she shares how basketball came into her life. The game is a family affair for the Beckers' and Niyah confirms to us that she is indeed the best hooper in her family ! NB talks about looking up to Emily Potter as a young player as well living in Winnipeg. Niyah tells us about playing her last season of high school in the OSBA with Lincoln Prep and how that prepared her for the next level. The next level took NB to the University of Utah as she started her career as a Ute.  Niyah shares her memories of Utah with us and why being a Ute will always be special for her. Jackson is back home in Toronto after a strong, successful season with the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League. Jackson tells us his plans for the offseason as he gets ready to train for his upcoming season as he returns to Santa Cruz to crack open his spot in the NBA. JR takes us back to when he was growing up in Toronto as he learned the game from his Mother, the legend Phil Dixon and others. Jackson talks about his idols in basketball as he was a young man; which included the Toronto native and icon Jamaal Magloire. Jackson takes his game to Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to test his skills against the best competition. While at Wasatch Jackson starts to get more recruitment for NCAA Division 1 basketball; eventually committing to Cal State Fullerton. As a Titan Jackson makes an impact and elevated his game to eventually turn pro. JR starts his pro journey seeing stops in France, Sweden and Germany.     Allison McNeill, former Head Coach of the SWNT for Canada Basketball and one of the all time great coaches in Canadian basketball, pulls up on Canada Hoops! Allison lets us know what she has been doing since retirement; although she is still connected to the game and tells us that in some way basketball will always be a part of her life. Allison talks about the state and impact of womens' basketball right now and how she knew this time would come. Allison takes us back to growing up in Princeton and Salmon Arm, BC, working for her family business at a young age while learning and loving basketball. Allison moves from Princeton to Salmon Arm to play the game and meets her lifelong friend; the legendary Bev Smith. Allison talks about her time as a Jewel before she heads to Laurentian University to become a Voyageur. Allison won two National Championships at Laurentian before moving to the University of Oregon to re-unite with Bev Smith. After her time as a Duck Allison starts her pro career before she ends up as the Head Coach at Simon Fraser University. After a successful 13 year tenure at SFU Allison heads back to Oregon again to join Bev as the associate Head Coach for the Ducks.In 2002 Allison is named the Head Coach of the SWNT for Canada Basketball. Allison would lead the SWNT for 10 years ; taking the Program from 22nd to 8th in the world rankings. Allisons' time as the Head Coach of the SWNT culminated with qualifying for and competing in the 2012 London Olympics. Allison gives us great insight on Canada Basketball during her tenure and shares her thoughts on the Program now and where the SWNT can potentially go on the world stage.     Canadas' Coach "K" and Canadian basketball legend Steve Konchalski pulls up on Canada Hoops! Steve sits down with your boy Matty to share his basketball story with us. Steve is still going strong in the game and tells us about his role as a Senior Advisor for the Calgary Surge in the CEBL. Steve talks about the importance of the CEBL and then tells us how his love for basketball started. Steve grew up in Elmhurst , New York, a part of NYC, which is where Steve fell in love with basketball. Steve played at Archbishop Molly High School and was recruited from there to play at Acadia University by the legendary Coach Stu Aberdeen. Steve won a National Championship at Acadia in 1965 and after graduating he quickly finds himself coaching. Steve starts to spend time with the Canadian National Team under legendary Coach Jack Donohue and Steve felt this was where the breaks started to happen for him in his coaching career. in 1975 Coach Konchalski took the job as Head Coach at St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Steve would coach the X-Men from 1975 to 2021; winning 3 National Championships and forever cementing himself as an icon in Canada Basketball. Steve tells us how he made the decision to retire from coaching and why he felt his successor Tyrell Vernon was the right man for the job to take over the program.When we talk Canada Basketball with Steve his connections and relationships with everyone runs decades and it's evident that he cherishes everyone. Jay tells us about his time at SFU; especially his close friendship with the Canadian hero Terry Fox.Jay takes us through his pro career as a player and then eventually how he started as a coach at his alma mater SFU. Jay got his NBA start with the Vancouver Grizzlies before starting to coach with the Toronto Raptors. In Toronto Jay would eventually  become the 1st Canadian born Head Coach when he was named Head Coach of the Raptors.
