Grab your broomsticks and settle in as we dive deep into the Wiccan Rede's origins, interpretations, and the ethics of spell-casting. From Doreen Valiente's 1964 couplets to the expansion in 1975, we're tearing apart the 'harm none' rule and the infamous Rule of Three. We're not pulling punches as we critique the overly prescriptive nature of these ethics and how they've led to some seriously judgmental vibes in the Wiccan community.Catch this no-holds-barred breakdown of the Wiccan Rede at nvusalien.com, and don't forget to subscribe for more irreverent explorations into the world of magic and the unknown.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/nvus-alien--4798594/support.

Then we proceed to breakdown the quatrains with a brief explanation of how we interpret each one. Hate it or love it, the real question is, are there bits of wisdom in this lovely poem from the 1960's.  Different viewpoints can give more insight, and we hope our view provides a little bit of insight for you. Support the showJoin us on Discord: https://discord.gg/MdcMwqUjPZFacebook: (7) Life Temple and Seminary | Facebook

Ameth is the first definitive biography of Doreen Valiente (1922-1999), an English Witch who became known as 'the Mother of Modern Witchcraft'. Based on the author's work collating her artefacts, interviewing people who knew her, reading and researching numerous personal magical documents and correspondence bequeathed by Doreen, this book gives unparalleled insight into her magical life. Evocatively recreating the atmosphere of British Witchcraft post-1951 after the repeal of the Witchcraft Act of 1735, the author explores Doreen's magical journey, including her initiation and relationship with Gerald Gardner. We are guided on a journey from the 1950's through to the early 1970's as she worked and interacted with Charles Cardell and the Coven of Atho, Robert Cochrane and the Clan of Tubal Cain, as well as the Regency coven. Ameth chronicles the whole of Doreen Valiente's colourful and varied life. It emphasises her fight to establish Pagan rights, and her subsequent role as one of the leading spokespersons for the pagan revival from the 1960s until her death in 1999. Through her own published books and her contribution to the work of Janet and Stewart Farrar, she has reinforced her position as one of the most significant and influential priestesses of the twentieth century. Her research to find Dorothy Clutterbuck may have saved the credibility of traditional Witchcraft, and took her to what was arguably the height of her achievements helping to shape the world's fastest growing religion - Wicca. As an author, priestess, researcher and pagan spokeswoman, Doreen Valiente occupied a unique position in leading the resurgence of magic, perhaps best exemplified by her creation of the Wiccan Rede - "an it harm none, do what ye will". Possessed of a fiery spirit and willingness to challenge dogma in her search for truth (the meaning of Ameth, her witch name), Doreen's tireless quest serves as an example of the power of the human spirit to accomplish transformation on a major scale. "Within Doreen's teachings, one feels she is conveying a message to all, of a gateway to the Goddess and personal enlightenment" - Jonathan Tapsell This is a conversation with Jonathan Tapsell about this Doreen, her life and her incredible personality and work in modern day witchcraft.

The Witches talk about the dogma behind the Wiccan Rede and why it impedes some witches from reaching their full potential. Plus, how some Wiccans even use it to judge and ridicule other witches who do not believe in it or want to perform “darker” spells, regardless of their reasoning. Hang out with us in the We Witches Three Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/wewitchesthree/ The Wiccan Rede Bide the Wiccan Laws we must In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust. Live and let live. Fairly take and fairly give. Cast the Circle thrice about to keep the evil spirits out. To bind the spell every time let the spell be spake in rhyme. Soft of eye and light of touch, Speak little, listen much. Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the Witches' Rune. Widdershins go by the waning moon, chanting out the baneful rune. When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to her, times two. When the moon rides at her peak, then your hearts desire seek. Heed the North wind's mighty gale, lock the door and drop the sail. When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss thee on the mouth. When the wind blows from the West, departed souls will have no rest. When the wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast. Nine woods in the cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow. Elder be the Lady's tree, burn it not or cursed you'll be. When the Wheel begins to turn, let the Beltane fires burn. When the Wheel has turned to Yule, light the log and the Horned One rules. Heed ye flower, Bush and Tree, by the Lady, blessed be. Where the rippling waters go, cast a stone and truth you'll know. When ye have a true need, hearken not to others' greed. With a fool no season spend, lest ye be counted as his friend. Merry meet and merry part, bright the cheeks and warm the heart. Mind the Threefold Law you should, three times bad and three times good. When misfortune is enow, wear the blue star on thy brow. True in love ever be, lest thy lover's false to thee. Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An ye harm none, do what ye will. ********** If you would like to support us please consider subscribing to a perk on our Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/wewitchesthree We Witches Three Podcast: https://wewitchesthree.podbean.com/ Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/wewitchesthree Twitter: http://bit.ly/2GGMMpx

With all of the misinformation out there, I thought it fitting to talk about the ThreeFold Law, especially after talking about the Wiccan Rede in the last episode. Please keep in mind that these are my thoughts and opinions and won't necessarily apply for ALL Wiccans, especially those in a coven that has rules to follow depending on their tradition. So buckle up and get ready for a bit of a rant on why I dislike the threefold law, its history, and my problems with it. Tonight listen in as I chat about how to get started making your own Book of Shadows (BOS)and during the psychic Toolbox Section I will be sharing with you all on how to Draw Down the Moon in a very easy ceremony. 1. Decide how you are going to keep your Book of Shadows. You can keep it on your computer, in a spiral notebook, in a binder, or splurge on a leather journal. Many people use binders because of the ability to shuffle pages around and create sections, and some prefer to keep it as a diary. 2. Lay down a statement of your beliefs. What do you believe in? Who are your patron gods/goddesses, if any? Do you follow the Wiccan Rede or the Threefold Law? Do you believe in spell casting, or only in ritualistic worship? These questions and more can help you get a better sense of your beliefs and put them on paper. (This is for your benefit only, and is by no means a requirement.) 3. Write down any rituals or spells you have created, step by step. Date all your entries for future reference. 4. Write down any rituals or spells you perform as well as influences such as moon phases etc, and what the results are. You can look back on these later and see how you are progressing, or what you may be able to do differently. 5. Include chants, poetry, stories, artwork, etc, whether created by yourself or others. As long as it inspires you, or honors the God/Goddess, it is fair game. 6. All BOS need to have correspondence pages. At least the basics such as the moon phases and their meanings, basic color charts. 7. It may be a good idea to keep a table of contents so that you can find things easily in your BOS. It makes finding the correct Ritual, Spell, charm, Etc. much faster and can help make the ritual, spell, charm, etc. run more smoothly. Psychic Toolbox Section - Ritual of Drawing Down The Moon Stand facing the Full Moon. You can do see Her in your imagination, if necessary, but much better to see Her in person, and best to do so outside. Greet Her. Offer Her flowers or some gift from the heart. Tell Her what you would like help with, what energy you would like to call in. Take the Chalice position -- feet firmly planted, standing tall, arms forming a "bowl" overhead. Clap your hands once above your head, to clear the space and focus your concentration. Open your arms again, to the Chalice position. Then feel or visualise the Moon's Light streaming into your Chalice bowl until it is brimming with brilliant pure-white Light. Slowly lower your arms, drawing down and allowing the Light to pour into your body and energy field, flowing through your entire being - body, mind, and spirit. Experience this with every sense that you can employ, especially visuals and sensory feelings. Do this 3 times, or as often as you like, including the clap in between. After, you may kiss your hands in Her honour, if you like. Or Namaste to the Moon. Or in some way demonstrate thanks and honouring. Calling Down the Moon is a beautiful practice, however you choose to do it. Filling yourself with Divine Light and Divine Energy can only be a good thing, and you can never overdo it. Try this at the next Full Moon.
