Wondering how to lower cortisol naturally? Nurse Doza walks through five practical habits that support a healthier cortisol rhythm: managing everyday stress, getting morning sunlight, cutting screen time at night, using diaphragmatic breath work, and supplying the adrenal glands with the nutrients they run on. The goal is not crushing cortisol. The goal is rhythm, high when it should be high and low when it should be low. Featured Product Zen (Stress Relief) by MSW Nutrition, $69 If you are running on caffeine and adrenaline, your body is burning through the exact nutrients it needs to keep cortisol on a healthy rhythm. Zen is built to put them back. It pairs 125 mg of adrenal glandular tissue, sourced from Argentinian bovine for purity, with four standardized adaptogens: Asian ginseng, rhodiola, eleuthero, and schisandra. It also delivers vitamin C, vitamin B6, and pantothenic acid (B5), the nutrients concentrated in adrenal tissue and used up fastest under sustained demand. Most stress formulas give you one botanical. Zen runs four, in one capsule taken twice daily, so you are not juggling a shelf of bottles. Supports the body's adaptogenic response Supports healthy adrenal physiological function Supports energy production and stamina Supports the body's response to everyday stress
In this episode I get into bids for connection, the Gottman Institute's term for the small moments when your partner reaches out to you, and why how often you turn towards them is one of the biggest predictors of whether a couple stays together or gets divorced. I go through the newlywed research that followed couples for six years and sorted them into masters and disasters, and the part that actually matters, which is not catching every bid but going back to repair the ones you miss. I talk about the emotional bank account, Alexis Fernandez's tennis ball, the bird theory trend and Robert Irwin's answer to it, and why the phone is the biggest killer of all of it. I go into the year I spent making big grand gestures while missing the small ones, and what changed in the two weeks before I recorded this. This one was made with Denza. We packed the B5, drove up into the hinterland and set camp for the night, and that is where the episode was recorded. The cooler in the centre console kept the sandwiches cold on the way up, the boot is spacious and fits everything we need and this car is just such a pleasure to drive. Thanks DENZA Gold Coast. In this Supplement Ingredient Series episode, Nurse Doza breaks down bovine adrenal gland — a glandular supplement with over a century of use, rooted in the ancestral practice of eating organ meat for nutrients the body needs to function. He explains how cortisol dysregulation can show up as afternoon crashes, mood shifts, and restless nights, and why adrenal glandular is paired with adaptogens and B vitamins in a three-in-one formula built to support the stress response. FEATURED PARTNER Zen (Stress Relief) by MSW Nutrition is the bovine adrenal gland formula Nurse Doza reaches for himself — and the reason is the ingredient itself, which is genuinely hard to find on a shelf. One capsule delivers 125 mg of adrenal gland tissue sourced from Argentina, paired with four standardized adaptogens (Asian ginseng, rhodiola, eleuthero, and schisandra), plus vitamin C, vitamin B6 as P5P, and pantothenic acid. That's the three-in-one Nurse Doza describes in this episode: glandular, adaptogens, and B vitamins in one capsule, formulated to support the body's stress response and steadier daily energy.
Leigh Ann welcomes Dr. Stasha Gominak for a deep dive into sleep, as well as vitamin D, B vitamins, the microbiome, pain, repair, and why many sleep issues may be misunderstood. Dr. Gominak shares how her work as a neurologist with headache patients unexpectedly led her into sleep research after discovering that many young, otherwise healthy women had abnormal sleep studies even when they did not have sleep apnea. She explains why sleep studies can be overly reductive when they focus only on apnea, while missing deeper issues with REM sleep, deep sleep, paralysis, repair, and brainstem function. Leigh Ann and Dr. Gominak discuss the role of vitamin D as a hormone, why blood levels may matter more than generic dosing, and how bringing vitamin D levels up helped some patients sleep better before later revealing deeper B vitamin and microbiome-related issues. Dr. Gominak also explains her evolving understanding of the impact that B5, acetylcholine, gut bacteria, inflammation, and IBS have on the parasympathetic nervous system.Product Discount Codes + LinksHoolest: Website (Discount Code: THEACCRESCENT10)Froya Hair Care: Website (Link gives 10% off)Herbal Face Food: Website (Discount Code: LAL30)Episode LinksDr. Gominak's Right Sleep MembershipGuest InfoDr. Gominak - WebsiteDr. Gominak - YouTubeRelated EpisodesPodcast Ep. 239: Dr. Abhinav Singh (Sleep Vigilante) - Why Most People Are Sleeping Wrong—And What You Can Do About It TonightPodcast Ep. 173: Sarah Greenfield - Gut Health: The Emotional and Physical Path to HealingWork w/Leigh AnnLearn: What is EVOX Therapy?Book: Schedule a Session or FREE Discovery CallMembership: What is The Healing Alchemy MembershipConnect w/Me & Learn MoreWebsiteInstagramTiktokYoutube

Nurse Doza breaks down five signs your gut microbiome may be off — a history of antibiotics, brain fog, autoimmune issues, relentless sugar cravings, and not pooping every day. He explains how gut bacteria help shape neurotransmitters, blood sugar, and natural GLP-1, why so many issues trace back to the gut, and the simple steps — fasting, fermented foods, fish oil, and the Good Poops Protocol — that can help rebuild it from the inside out. FEATURED PARTNER — Good Poops Protocol (MSW Nutrition) This episode centers on rebuilding the gut microbiome, and the Good Poops Protocol is the bundle Nurse Doza built for exactly that — Gut, Liver Boost, and Berberine Plus working together over 60 days to support the intestinal lining, healthy bile flow, and blood-sugar metabolism. Berberine and L-glutamine are both studied for supporting the body's own GLP-1 production, making the protocol a practical starting point for the digestive issues discussed in this episode.
Mackenzie Cowell was seventeen years old — a dancer, a cosmetology student, and a young woman with her whole life mapped out in front of her — when she stepped out of her beauty school in Wenatchee, Washington one February afternoon and never came back. Four days later, her body was found partially submerged in the Columbia River, twenty miles from where she had disappeared. What followed was one of the stranger murder investigations in recent Washington state history. Investigators chased a months-long dead end involving drug dealers, a supposed snuff film, and an informant whose story kept changing. Meanwhile, the real answer had been hiding in plain sight — in the classroom where Mackenzie spent her afternoons, and in an apartment where a piece of carpet held a secret that luminol would eventually reveal.Mackenzie had survived a difficult childhood, a contentious home life, and the relentless schedule she had set for herself. She made it through all of that. She didn't make it through one ordinary Tuesday afternoon.Today's snack: Quick and easy apple tart with buttermilk caramel syrupSupport us on PatreonSources:Fretwell, Courtney. "Mackenzie Cowell."
On the afternoon of August 23, 2003, Erie, Pennsylvania pizza delivery driver Brian Wells walked into the local branch of the PNC Bank and handed the teller a note warning that he had a bomb and they had fifteen minutes to hand over $250,000 or it would detonate. Unable to access the vault, the teller gave Wells all the cash on hand and he left as the employees triggered the emergency protocol.Fifteen minutes later, Wells was spotted by police and placed under arrest. However, when they went to put handcuffs on the suspects, the officers discovered that Wells did indeed have an explosive device on him—it was strapped to his neck and rigged to explode. Officers cleared the area, but failed to alert the bomb squad in time and the device eventually exploded, killing Wells just three minutes before the bomb squad arrived. The bizarre death of Brian Wells seemed to bring his brief criminal career to an end; yet as investigators began digging into the background of the delivery driver-turned-bank robber, they discovered the plot to rob the PNC Bank was far more elaborate than anyone had imagined. Discover which morning vitamins maximize your energy and which ones sabotage your sleep. Learn the optimal timing for vitamin D3, B vitamins, NAD+, resveratrol, and magnesium threonate to support your body's natural rhythms. This episode reveals how strategic supplement timing can transform your daily performance and overall health without relying on coffee. (497 characters) 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS Vitamin D3 is essential for morning routines – Taking 5,000 IU of vitamin D3 with K2 first thing in the morning boosts immune function and mood by mimicking natural sunlight exposure when your body needs it most. B vitamins power daytime energy production – B12, B9 (folate), B6, and B5 are water-soluble vitamins that support cellular energy, focus, and neurotransmitter production throughout the day without causing afternoon crashes like caffeine. NAD+ injections provide immediate cellular energy – This molecule naturally declines with age but can be replenished through injections that deliver hours or even days of sustained energy, making it particularly beneficial for menopausal women and anyone experiencing fatigue. Resveratrol supports mitochondrial function – This powerful antioxidant enhances energy production at the cellular level, supports cardiovascular health, and helps regulate blood sugar when taken during active daylight hours. Magnesium threonate protects brain function – Unlike other forms of magnesium, threonate crosses the blood-brain barrier to reduce neuroinflammation, enhance focus, and support cognitive performance throughout your demanding day. Learn how to restore your adrenal function and reclaim your energy with this comprehensive 90-day reset plan. Nurse Doza maps out a practical approach to reversing adrenal fatigue through measurable testing (DHEAS and HRV), lifestyle modifications including belly breathing and sunlight exposure, and targeted supplementation to support your body's stress response and energy production. Character count: 394 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS Measure Your Adrenal Function: DHEAS blood testing (optimal range: 200-250) provides a stable measurement of adrenal function over time without daily variation, while Heart Rate Variability (HRV) tracks your recent stress response and nervous system health in real-time. Activate Rest and Digest Mode: Belly breathing (diaphragmatic breathing) actively shifts your nervous system from fight-or-flight to rest-and-digest mode by increasing parasympathetic activity, lowering cortisol levels, and improving HRV with just 4-7 minutes daily. Morning Sunlight Resets Your System: Getting sunlight within the first hour of waking naturally boosts cortisol production, increases serotonin synthesis, provides vitamin D, and sets your circadian rhythm for better sleep—aim for 30-45 minutes of direct sunlight without sunglasses. Support with Targeted Nutrition: Bovine adrenal gland extracts provide building blocks for your own adrenal glands to resume normal function, a practice used successfully since the early 1900s, while B vitamins (especially B5 and B6) help regulate cortisol production and support energy metabolism. Address Underlying Trauma: Unresolved trauma from childhood or adulthood chronically activates your stress response and suppresses adrenal function—addressing it through therapies like CBT, EMDR, or somatic experiencing is essential for long-term adrenal recovery and nervous system regulation. FEATURED PRODUCT Zen – featuring bovine adrenal gland extracts, is designed to support adrenal function and help regulate cortisol production—key factors in restoring energy and recovering from burnout as discussed in this episode. In this video, I explore the history of Bigsby-equipped Telecasters, from Paul Bigsby's development of the B-16 in 1953, to Fender's first factory-installed B5 models in 1967, and how they're still used in today's guitars.Along the way, I'll share setup tips and tricks to keep your Bigsby Tele in tune, break down how a vibrato changes both tone and feel, and highlight some of the famous players who made the Bigsby Telecaster iconic.Support the show

Throughout the 1970s, Southern California residents were held in the grip of terror as multiple serial killers stalked the streets, preying on victims from every walk of life, including the area's gay community. From 1971 to 1983, Randy Kraft kidnapped, tortured, and murdered at least sixteen men and boys, but the real number of victims is believed to be considerably higher. When he was arrested in 1983, investigators searched Kraft's home and found a list with cryptic references to what they believed were sixty-one victims in total. The discovery of that list led the press to dub Kraft “The Scorecard Killer.”Following his arrest in 1983, Randy Kraft was tried and convicted of sixteen counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. Although the arrest and trial put an end to Kraft's murder spree, several critical questions remain unanswered, including the most important aspect of the case detectives were never able to solve: who was Randy Kraft's accomplice?Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesArnold, Roxane, and Jerry Hicks. 1983. Volvo's current XC90 launched almost a decade ago and was a pivotal piece of the brand's U.S. offerings. Unsurprisingly, the large, three-row crossover performed well for Volvo over the last decade. Despite the brand's pivot into electric vehicles, Volvo has given the second-generation XC90 another facelift to keep it relevant to customers. This extensive overhaul swaps sheet metal and interior pieces to give the XC90's relatively old bones a new, albeit familiar, look. Powering the updated XC90 is the same array of hybrid powertrains, with the B5 and B6 models opting for the mild-hybrid-assisted 2.0-liter I4 that generates 247 hp and 295 hp, respectively. Topping the chart is the plug-in hybrid T8 variant, that throws 455 hp to the wheels. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren and Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy put the 2025 Volvo XC90 T8 through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the updated Volvo XC90 and highlights some of the new design elements and features. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Murphy about their experiences in different versions of the updated XC90, how the refreshed Volvo is performing in the marketplace, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 Volvo XC90 special.

I predict the coming 12 months will be full of volatility. If you're unprepared it'll be a hard year yet if you're battleproofed it'll be your best year.If you are not using the "Big 5 Concept" that I teach in my online learning programs, I encourage you to start today as it is a game-changer that is helping so many people live world-class lives. The idea's simple: ask yourself what 5 things need to happen by Dec. 31 for this to be the absolute best year of your life so far. Write them down and read them every morning (principle: Consistency Breeds Mastery). Then build your daily schedule so that you move each of your B5 ahead incrementally that day. The Big 5 gives deep focus to your days + fills you will hope in tough times and drives energy. Otherwise, vague goals create vague results. You really need to have a laser-like focus on just 5 things to achieve. The results will wow you. This is what my latest book The Wealth Money Can't Buy is all about. Real wealth versus fake success. True winning versus spending your life climbing a mountain, only to find out at the end that it was the wrong one.
