Building a personal brand is the best foundation for a sustainable online business because strong personal brand creates safety, certainty, and anti-fragility for your business. Today, Jill walks through six signs you've built one: people like your posts without reading them, they reference your story when sharing their own, they repeat your proprietary terms and frameworks back to you, they send you memes and content that remind them of you, they buy from you simply because it's you, and you know with confidence that any launch will generate sales.    Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. Today, Jill explains how and why to regularly clean out your email list, sharing the practical steps she uses at JillFit: deleting unsubscribes so you're not paying for dead contacts, running reports to find subscribers who haven't opened an email in six months, and using a "re-enrollment campaign" with a curiosity-driven subject line and a free gift to win back lapsed subscribers before cutting them loose. List cleaning is essential for keeping email deliverability and spam scores healthy, lowering software costs, and boosting open rates. But above all, try not to take unsubscribes or unopened emails personally—it's simply part of running a permission-based marketing system.    Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. Do you know the difference between angle and intention in your marketing? The idea comes from the fact that the best-practice fundamentals (the intention) that actually deliver client results are rarely what convinces someone to buy a coaching package, while a flashy, curiosity-driven "angle" is what captures attention and gets people to raise their hands. You don't need to feel dishonest by leading with a niched, novel hook rather than the basics, as long as you trust yourself to deliver the full, responsible coaching experience once a client is signed on.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. FBU 629: Summertime Sleepy Season + How to Prep Now for Fall Promotions

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 27, 2026 20:30

Summer is historically the slowest season for business promotions. Your potential clients are distracted by vacations, kids being out of school, and a general "out of office" mode makes it harder to sell things that require routine or commitment. Rather than panicking about low engagement now, use this quieter period to build your "launch narrative" for fall promotions: consistently talking about your upcoming offers, mentioning their names repeatedly to build familiarity, and use lead magnets, interest lists, or content series to corral attention so that when doors officially open, your audience is already warmed up and no time is wasted on education. Successful launches in 2026 depend less on the size of an audience and more on consistent, story-driven messaging, so that by the time consumer attention naturally sharpens at the end of summer, your business is already positioned and ready to convert.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. FBU 628: The "Second Sell" and Why You Need to Be Using It in Your Coaching Containers

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 22, 2026 25:14

Today, Jill explores the concept of the "second sell"—the often-overlooked practice of re-selling customers and leads on actually consuming or actioning what they've already opted into or purchased. The reality is that most people's excitement fades quickly after signing up for a freebie or paid program. So to keep your distracted clients excited, you should build in reminders and curiosity loops, and lower barriers to entry in order to boost engagement. This episode has concrete tactics from Jill's own programs, including a three-email follow-up sequence for freebies, kickoff calls that future pace client disengagement before it happens, reverse-engineering the path from login to result to design better email prompts, and a seven-day onboarding sequence designed to get membership members a fast, meaningful win. Retention and results don't happen automatically after a sale. They require ongoing, intentional marketing to your own customers to keep them showing up and getting value.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. Trust-building is essential, as the online space enters into what Jill calls the current "trust recession." Trust typically takes at least 18-24 months of consistent effort to develop, but there are ways to accelerate the process. Today, Jill shares those 6 strategies for speeding up the trust process. They include increasing touch points with your audience; using storytelling to build genuine connection; "going against your pitch" by being brutally honest even when it costs you a sale; exposing an "us versus them" dynamic by calling out problematic industry practices; creating "model of the world" content that positions you as an authority; and adopting an "abundance sell" mindset that signals you don't desperately need the sale.    Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. FBU 626: 6 Ways to Remove All Risk and Get Prospects to Say Yes Now

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 15, 2026 26:31

There are six strategies coaches can use to craft offers that remove risk and drive prospects to say yes now instead of putting off a decision, and the key to all of them is packaging the offer so compellingly that objections dissolve naturally rather than needing to be argued away. The six strategies include: adding a bonus specifically designed to overcome the audience's most common objection; creating a strong price anchor or value stack that highlights savings; using a genuine future price increase to motivate immediate action; offering a limited-time discount or restructured payment plan that starts low; committing to keep coaching a client for free until they achieve a mutually agreed-upon result; and providing a no-questions-asked refund or money-back guarantee. But it's important to note that these tactics only work when they're truthful and rooted in genuine confidence in one's coaching. An irresistible, honest offer can transform hesitant prospects into confident buyers.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. Taking action in your business feels deeply vulnerable. There is an inherent risk and emotional exposure that comes with launching, promoting, or trying anything new in business, and it's normal to be scared as you move forward. Launches often feel like an emotional rollercoaster, especially if you're an online business owner who started strong but hit a wall of disappointment when results don't match your expectations. That's the "expectation gap," aka, the danger of getting stuck in passive "learning mode" instead of taking action. Tracking real metrics (conversion rates, leads, close rates) can help you separate genuine performance issues from unrealistic hopes. But ultimately, there are no guarantees in business—only the choice to keep showing up, invest in yourself, tolerate risk, and trust the process—because action, not certainty, is what actually moves a business forward.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. After 16 years running JillFit, Jill is no stranger to burn out—creative emptiness, low motivation, and anxiety that the ideas won't return. It's a normal, and thankfully temporary part of building something demanding, rather than a sign of failure. If you're trying to fix your burn out, it's important to recognize the distinction between passive inputs like mindless scrolling or TV that drain energy despite feeling relaxing, and active inputs like reading fiction, journaling, connecting with friends, and exploring ideas outside your niche that genuinely refill creative reserves and spark new lateral connections. The Law of Trade-Offs is the idea that because your time and mental energy are finite, every "yes" in your business is simultaneously a "no" to something else. Because of this trade off, business owners need to think beyond the comfort of one-on-one coaching, which offers fast but limited returns, and instead pursue higher-leverage models like group programs, courses, and automated evergreen funnels. You also have to push back on the tempting mindset of "just maintaining," because in this rapidly saturating online space, you have to actively grow just to stay in place, since client rosters naturally shrink and audiences go stale if you're not continuously building. Identify whatever decision you've been avoiding—the problem client, the underpriced package, the task you should have outsourced—and rip the band-aid off by consolidating, outsourcing, or deleting.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. They cover practical strategies for building rapport with online clients, while also tackling coaching burnout and how to manage energy by eliminating "extracurricular" coaching. Delegating your email inbox should be your first hire as an online fitness coach. Today, Jill shares three signs it's time to hand off your inbox: dreading it, feeling stuck working in your business instead of on it, and knowing you need to do it but putting it off. There is a practical 8–12 week onboarding system you can try: the first few weeks have your new assistant simply shadowing you by reading your sent folder and building response templates around the three to five most common email "buckets" (password resets, billing questions, coaching inquiries, etc.); the next phase has them handling the easy stuff while flagging trickier emails for you; and finally they take over the inbox almost entirely, responding in their own voice while you periodically review their sent replies. It doesn't have to be scary, especially if you hire someone resourceful, empathetic, and ideally familiar with your brand—and trust them enough to give them real ownership of the role.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. Treating people as more capable than they believe themselves to be is one of the most powerful tools a leader has. The opposite is also true: named the Golem effect, having low expectations of someone can tank performance or create client dependency through overly prescriptive meal plans or 24/7 availability. There's a growing skepticism toward online coaches and internet marketers, so in order to run a successful online business, we have to overcome this. These feelings of distrust come from a combination of factors: low barriers to entry in the online coaching space leading to uneven coach quality, an oversaturated content landscape with contradictory information, widespread disillusionment with institutions like government and medicine, and rising suspicion around AI-generated content. Trust ultimately comes down to three pillars:  competency, relatability, and consistency. So, rather than fearing the moment we're in, lean in to it. If you're doing genuine, high-quality work, a trust recession isn't a threat, it's an opportunity to stand out by calling out the problem openly, educating your audience on what to look for in a coach, and letting your track record speak for itself.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Get on the Waitlist for Strategy Lab: https://jillfitfree.com/strategy-lab-wait-list/   Catch the replay for Low Ticket Revolution! https://www.jillfitprograms.com/Low-Ticket-Revolution     Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. While there's no obligation to do so, there might be real strategic value in following back accounts that look like potential ideal clients—especially if you're in the early stages of building your client roster. Rather than immediately sliding into a follower's DMs, try quietly consuming their content and waiting for a natural moment to engage, like replying to a story in a genuine way. Relationship-building takes time and forced shortcuts tend to backfire, so your goal should be to accumulate authentic touch points that eventually convert into sales on their own timeline.   Get on the Waitlist for Strategy Lab: https://jillfitfree.com/strategy-lab-wait-list/   Catch the replay for Low Ticket Revolution! https://www.jillfitprograms.com/Low-Ticket-Revolution   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/     Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. If you're ready to up your sales technique, there are two energetic shifts you need to try. The first is adopting an "interview energy"—approaching sales conversations from a place of confidence and selectivity, where the potential client feels they need to earn their spot rather than the you feeling desperate for the sale. The second is simply assuming people already have the money for your services, which  leads to showing up more confident, convicted, and abundant in any sales context. You could also raise your prices, because higher prices signal higher value, which can attract easier clients. Instead of chasing clout from people "ahead" of you, seek out mentors and communities where the vibe feels authentic, rather than clicky or status-driven. In all the maybe, you have two distinct choices for how you run your business: the data-driven, automated "passive income" model built around low-ticket digital products, ads, and funnel optimization, versus the personal brand model grounded in genuine relationships, consistent value delivery, and audience trust. In Jill's experience, chasing passive income shortcuts often produces hollow, unsustainable businesses. Today, Jill walks you through the key litmus test for keeping your promises in integrity: ask yourself whether the outcome is sustainable and genuinely achievable for your ideal client in the timeline you're promising, and if not, adjust accordingly. Jill also covers self-identification marketing (defining two or three specific client types so prospects immediately recognize themselves), making offers more irresistible through bonuses or results guarantees, and developing a signature methodology that sets your program apart, all in service of the bigger goal: building enough demand that your ideal client sees your offer as the one logical, necessary next step.     Register for the Low Ticket Revolution Training! https://www.jillfitprograms.com/Low-Ticket-Revolution   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/     Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. Successful selling is really about helping prospects make sense of their situation by giving them an alternative worldview—one that explains why they've struggled and why a new approach could work. The four clarity points are: (1) identifying what your prospective client is struggling with; (2) helping them understand how they got there; (3) painting a clear picture of where they want to go; and (4) presenting a confident, step-by-step roadmap to get them there. A well-articulated plan creates a sense of safety and organization that makes saying yes feel natural, and combining genuine conviction with detachment from the outcome is what separates coaches who close consistently from those who don't. While the fundamentals of health and fitness (protein, lifting, stress management, sleep) are what your clients truly need, these basics have lost their marketing punch because everyone is saying them, and in today's attention economy you need a fresh angle or hook to get people in the door before you can deliver the foundational work that actually drives results. There is a sharp distinction between your niche (who you serve) and your specialty (what you're known for), so push you to ask yourself: if you were tapped to speak at a conference or guest on a podcast, what would it be for? You don't need to have everything figured out to add value to someone else's life.   Get on the waitlist for FBA: https://jillfitfree.com/fba-waitlist/   Join the Strategy Lab: https://www.jillfitprograms.com/the-strategy-lab   Jill is a fitness professional and business coach who effectively made the transition from training clients in person and having no time to build anything else to training clients online and actually being more successful. FBU 586: You Can't Create Success If You Identify As Someone Who Is Stuck Or Struggling All The Time

You can't create success if you identify as someone who is constantly stuck or struggling. Like on social media, many new fitness entrepreneurs feel frustration when their content gets little to no engagement, but the energy you bring to your business—one of possibility versus pessimism—directly impacts your results and your ability to attract clients. It might be time to reframe low engagement not as failure but as practice, to find gratitude in small wins, and to use tools like visualization to maintain an abundance mindset. The algorithm, the likes, and the outcomes are largely neutral. It's your perception and energy that determine whether you keep showing up and ultimately succeed. After 15 years of online business under her belt, Kyra Williams still hit a wall. What she needed was strategy. Megan Dell went from getting crickets in a local moms' Facebook group to landing a year-long client within seconds of posting, and the only thing that changed was her messaging. Today, Jill and Megan chat about  building a flexible online fitness business that you can literally toggle on and off depending on the season of your life. After leaving a career in the hotel industry, Megan got certified as a health coach and personal trainer, but quickly realized that knowing your craft and knowing how to sell it are two completely different skills. Since joining FBA a year ago, she's nearly doubled her prices, built out an offer suite that includes in-person training, group coaching, and DIY video courses, traveled with her family, spent summers present with her kids, and still managed to sign new clients the moment she's ready for them, all by doing exactly what she learned, word for word, rep by rep, until it became second nature.   Fitness Business Accelerator is now open! Liz Myers went from burned-out gym trainer working 12-hour days for $25/hour to running a six-figure online business coaching mountain athletes—while spending most of her week on the slopes.Today, Liz is sharing her exact business progression: starting with hybrid in-person/online coaching, building a signature pre-season training program for skiers and snowboarders, then expanding to DIY programs and now membership. It took three years to gain real traction, which just goes to show that most people who succeed are simply the ones who don't quit. Liz also talks about the mental game—from imposter syndrome to the ups and downs of chasing viral posts—and shares what kept her showing up even when she wasn't seeing immediate results: accountability through FBA and trusting that consistent action compounds over time. Her advice for anyone hesitating to start? Just jump off the cliff. You can work for someone else's success or invest in your own future.
