The Happy Healthy Hairstylist podcast is the hairstylists guide to a happier, healthier, and wealthier life. My name is Shelby Bettencourt, I am THE happy happy healthy queen bee! I own and run a salon in Miami, Florida and KNOW what its like to "forget" about self care as I care for everyone else in my life. I made the mistakes, overbooked, underpaid, full of resent, and was a slave to the trade... then I WOKE UP and changed what didn't make me feel good and what was no longer serving me. I now coach stylists to not make the mistakes I made, and I'm here and happy to help you too! If you are in the beauty industry and want to better yourself both mentally and physically then this podcast is for you! You will learn the importance of taking care of your mind and body behind the chair. How to decompress, protect your energy, and have a better relationship with food, water, and money. As well as learning the structures and building blocks to growing and maintaining a successful beauty business.
The Happy Healthy Hairstylist's Podcast is an inspiring and informative podcast hosted by Shelby, a talented hairstylist and entrepreneur. This podcast is perfect for anyone looking to improve their health and wellness, both personally and professionally. Shelby's high energy and passion for her industry are infectious, making it easy to relate to her and her experiences. The episodes cover a wide range of topics, from mindset and lifestyle tips to business advice, all aimed at helping individuals in the beauty industry lead healthier and more successful lives.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is Shelby's realness. She speaks from personal experience and offers practical advice that can be applied in everyday life. Her no-nonsense approach to health and self-care resonates with listeners and makes her message relatable. Whether you're a hairstylist or not, there is something valuable to take away from each episode. Shelby's voice is also incredibly engaging; she has a way of motivating listeners to take action and make positive changes in their lives.
While it's hard to find any major flaws in this podcast, one minor downside is that some episodes may feel repetitive if you've been listening from the beginning. Shelby often reinforces certain concepts or ideas across multiple episodes, which can become redundant after a while. However, this repetition also serves as a reminder of the importance of these principles in leading a happy and healthy life.
In conclusion, The Happy Healthy Hairstylist's Podcast is a must-listen for anyone looking to improve their overall well-being while pursuing their entrepreneurial endeavors. Shelby's authenticity, knowledge, and passion shine through each episode, leaving listeners feeling inspired and motivated to make positive changes in their own lives. Regardless of your profession or background, this podcast offers valuable insights that can be applied universally. Give it a listen - you won't regret it!

What is enough? this question stopped me in my IG scroll and made me think about what Enough means to me and when I know I feel like I have "enough." Andrew and I share our thoughts on this topic as well as some other mindset tools we use that make us feel more enoughness. Andrew: I've been in the industry since 1998 and have played just about every role including hairdresser, owner, photographer, educator/facilitator, and coach. Education and coaching have always been a natural fit for me and that quickly became my focus working for Tigi, Paul Mitchell Advanced Education, Lunatic Fringe Salons, and most recently as Education Director of Sam Villa. In 2021 I took the leap to switch all of my focus to my coaching, mentoring, and facilitation company called The Journeyist. Weather it's one-to-one, facilitating groups, or keynote presentations… my coaching is all about combining modern science-based discovery with esoteric wisdom traditions. Naturally my work has evolved to supporting heart-based leaders, facilitators, and coaches on their own journey. Building your clients as a hairstylist (especially in a place where people are constantly moving to and from) can be challenging. I have rebuilt my clientele over 6 times in the past 14 years! sounds crazy right? Well, I have moved across the country, moved my salon home multiple times with 10+ mile difference, and closed off my books for years just to reopen them, and worked through the biggest pandemic in 2020 and watched as 60% of my clients relocated or could no longer afford the luxury of doing their hair.
