1995-1997: The Freedom Fight (https://thankskenpenders.tumblr.com/readingorder)Albert Speer was a German architect who served as Minister of Armaments and War Production in Nazi Germany during most of World War II. After the war, Speer was among the 24 "major war criminals" charged by the International Military Tribunal for Nazi atrocities. Speer had carefully constructed an image of himself as an apolitical technocrat who deeply regretted having failed to discover the monstrous crimes of the Third Reich. He was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, principally for the use of slave labor, narrowly avoiding a death sentence. Having served his full term, Speer was released in 1966.Archie Comics Sonic The Hedgehog #3000:00 Intro04:56 The Return of Uncle Chuck Part I21:15 The Return of Uncle Chuck Part II37:56 The Return of Uncle Chuck Part III57:07 Who Keeps Stealing My Chaos Emeralds ?!01:05:04 Outro-----Gotta Talk Fast is an oral review of Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog.

In the News - Big changes: Iconic U.S. ammo brands sold, federal hunting access funding threatened, and colleges embrace social media influencer courses. Join radio hosts Rebecca Wanner aka 'BEC' and Jeff ‘Tigger' Erhardt (Tigger & BEC) with The Bend Radio Show & Podcast, your news outlet for the latest in Outdoors & Western Lifestyle News! Season 5, Episode 221 Key Developments Impacting Iconic Brands, Public Hunting, and Education Iconic American Ammo Brands Sold to Czech Company The iconic American ammunition brands Federal, Remington, Hevi Shot, Speer, and CCI have new ownership. Sold in November 2024, these legendary names in ammo were sold to the Prague-based Czechoslovak Group (CSG) for $2.225 billion. This acquisition marks the end of a 2.5-year process involving scrutiny and approval by U.S. regulatory bodies. Under its new parent company, The Kinetic Group, led by CEO Jason Vanderbrink, these brands are set to thrive with long-term investments that aim to boost innovation and production. Vanderbrink states that moving away from the pressures of short-term returns will allow the brands to focus on delivering better and more reliable ammunition for consumers. Why the Sale Happened The ammo brands were previously owned by Vista Outdoor, a company managing a mix of outdoor and ammunition businesses. A strategic decision was made to split the two sectors due to differing business models and investor demands. Ammunition, a volatile commodity market, didn't align well with the stable growth expectations of lifestyle brands like Bushnell and Primos. National Security Concerns Addressed The sale raised national security concerns, prompting an investigation by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Despite opposition from some politicians, including then Senator JD Vance (now current Vice-president), the sale was cleared in June 2024. CSG emphasized its commitment to supporting U.S. military, law enforcement, hunters, and allied nations, along with its nearly 4,000 American employees. The Future of American Ammo With additional resources from CSG, which also owns a majority stake in Fiocchi, The Kinetic Group is poised to grow and innovate. Manufacturing plants like Federal's in Minnesota and Remington's in Arkansas will continue to play a key role in supplying high-quality ammunition for American and allied markets. References: https://www.outdoorlife.com/guns/kinetic-group-sold-to-czechoslovak-group/ https://smokinggun.org/vista-outdoor-closes-2b-sale-of-ammunition-brands-to-czech-firm/ https://czechoslovakgroup.com/en/news/csg-acquisition-kinetic-group Funding Gap Threatens Federal Walk-In Hunting Access Program The Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program (VPA-HIP), which funds walk-in hunting access on private lands, will not receive federal funding in 2025, creating challenges for hunters and conservationists. Without these funds, states cannot expand or create new access programs, leaving hunters with fewer opportunities. Historically funded by the farm bill, the program received $50 million in 2018 but saw reduced funding with recent extensions. The 2025 farm bill extension omitted funding entirely, marking the second consecutive year without adequate support. States participating rely on these grants to incentivize private landowners to allow public hunting and improve habitats. Existing programs will likely remain stable for now, thanks to state-level funding, but the gap limits expansion and new initiatives. Conservation leaders are advocating for Congress to include $150 million for the Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program in the next farm bill. Bipartisan proposals to triple the program's funding offer hope, though Congress has struggled to reach agreements. The program's benefits extend beyond hunting, generating millions in economic activity and supporting jobs. Advocates urge sportsmen to contact lawmakers to push for a farm bill that secures funding for VPA-HIP and boosts public land access. Industry consultant Nevil Speer helps illustrate the story of the transformation of the nation's cowherd during the last decade or so, and Oklahoma producer Jimmy Taylor shares his personal example. Rising to meet consumer expectations has been a self-fulfilling prophecy, where better beef begets more demand, but there are other considerations. Can you have the carcass and the cow? How have novel genetic tools allowed for a much faster pace of progress? What's on the horizon? Answers to all that and more, in this episode that offers a peek at the priorities of the commercial Angus bull buyer. HOSTS: Miranda Reiman and Troy Marshall, American Angus Association director of commercial industry relations GUESTS: Jimmy Taylor and Nevil Speer Jimmy Taylor, an Elk City, Okla., commercial Angus producer, manages around 600 females on 12,000 acres alongside his wife, Tracy. In 2011 they were named the Certified Angus Beef Commitment to Excellence Award winners and in 2013 the Oklahoma Angus Association Commercial Breeder of the Year. Taylor has served on various local boards and recently served on the executive committee for the Cattlemen's Beef Board. He is a strong proponent of using all the tools available to produce the highest quality beef possible. Nevil Speer, Bowling Green, Ky., started his industry consulting business after a career in academia and private industry. He earned a doctorate in animal science from Colorado State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Western Kentucky University, where he taught for several decades. He says he's forever a student of the business and uses his combination of on-farm experience, academic training, and start-up know-how as he consults, writes and speaks across the country. By early 1942 Nazi Germany was facing a moment of crisis when it came to the production of munitions and other equipment. The inherent chaos of the regime, Hitler's selection of favourites who knew how to tell him only what he wanted to hear, along with the soaring war production of the USA, UK and USSR led to the appointment of Albert Speer as Minister for Armaments.Help the podcast to continue bringing you history each weekIf you enjoy the Explaining History podcast and its many years of content and would like to help the show continue, please consider supporting it in the following ways:If you want to go ad-free, you can take out a membership hereOrYou can support the podcast via Patreon hereOr you can just say some nice things about it here Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/explaininghistory. The Herle Burly was created by Air Quotes Media with support from our presenting sponsor TELUS, as well as CN Rail.Greetings, you curiouser and curiouser Herle Burly-ites! A deep dive on the pod today into what's become a political hot topic: Retirement Security and Canadian Pensions. The Bloc is threatening to trigger an early election over Bill C-319. A Bill that would raise Old Age Security payments for seniors between the ages of 65 and 74 by 10%.Today, I want to step back and examine the whole area from a policy perspective. And so, we've brought back the vaunted Herle Burly #PolicyPanel … Tyler Meredith, Jennifer Robson, and Sean Speer.Tyler is the former Head of Fiscal and Economic Policy for Prime Minister Trudeau and Ministers of Finance, Chrystia Freeland and Bill Morneau. Today, he's a Founding Partner at Meredith/Boessenkool Policy Advisors. Jennifer has held senior roles in policy development and research with the Federal Government. She's now Program Director and Associate Professor of Political Management at Carleton University. And Sean is a former senior economic advisor to Prime Minister Harper. Today, he's Senior Fellow at U of T's Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. He's also a Founder and Editor-at-Large at TheHub.ca.So, here's a road map of what I hope to cover today:What's the financial position of both current and soon-to-be retirees? How does an expanded CPP affect that? What was the government's rationale for increasing OAS to only those over 75? What impact would the Bloc's proposal have? How is the RRSP system working and how can we get more people saving earlier? And more!Thank you for joining us on #TheHerleBurly podcast. Mental Health activist, writer, and speaker Kate Speer authentically shares her mental health journey from feeling different as a child to being diagnosed with ADHD and later a misdiagnosed bipolar disorder. Feeling unsupported from such a young age by the education system due to limiting criteria for diagnosis as well as the stigmas surrounding mental illness, Kate experienced a myriad of symptoms.*Trigger Warning* : This episode discusses suicide and psychosis. These mentions are authentic to the storyteller. After experiencing 15 years of disabling mental illness, chronic psychotic breaks, enumerable psychiatric hospitalizations, and a suicide attempt, Kate was told by doctors that the only way she would survive was to live in a long-term, locked psychiatric ward. Kate, stubborn to her core and no stranger to defying the expectations of her care team, told them to go to hell. She refused to give up. She met with doctor after doctor, and even after being told that she needed residential care by all of them, she kept searching. In one last-ditch effort to not end up in a ward, she met with a trauma therapist known for his intense behavioral methodologies who told her that she was about to work the hardest she ever had in her life to overcome her patterns. Kate didn't think twice about it. She committed to the work and began the recovery of a lifetime. She worked relentlessly using disciplined exposure therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy to tackle her OCD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and PTSD. Day after day, Kate leaned into the discomfort of her fear and though terrified, she continued to do exactly what the doctor prescribed anyway.Despite everything Kate has faced, she is one of the strongest, kind, accepting humans we have ever known. Her journey with mental illness has helped her emphasize the importance of self-acceptance and contributes to her desire in creating a world where people can hold space for both pain and joy. One of our favorite parts of this conversation is how openly and radically she encourages embracing the messiness of life and rejecting the pressure to present a polished image, giving us an opportunity to share our collective thoughts on the negativity of social media. Now, nine years later, she is happy (ish!), married, and has transitioned into public mental health work after her five-year tenure as the CEO of The Dogist, where she scaled the company's audience to five million subscribers. She is currently working with Harvard to scale public health campaigns that help today's youth while finalizing her very first memoir. Her hope for the future is to use social media for good instead of the bottom line and scale academic-creator collaborations that reach young people online where they get their information. This is just the beginning of that work and though she is unsure of where exactly it will take her, one thing's for sure – even though her doctors were convinced that she would only survive in a locked ward, she proved them spectacularly wrong. If you have ever struggled with mental health, this conversation contains the most madly inspiring, radically humbling, and honest message for you at this time: Healing is absolutely possible, but it won't be perfect and it will happen little by little. Albert Speer to jedna z najważniejszych postaci III Rzeszy. W 1943 roku został ministrem uzbrojenia i amunicji.
