Hey friends, and welcome back to Help Me Abide.Today, I have the joy and honor of welcoming someone truly special. A personal friend, a woman I deeply admire, and a true hero of the faith, Mrs. Elizabeth Speer.Elizabeth and her husband Ted Speer have served as missionaries in Ghana, West Africa, for the past 16 years. Together, they've poured their lives into the work of the Gospel, and the fruit of their labor is truly remarkable.Through their ministry, over 50 churches have been started, either directly or indirectly. Their main church averages around 700 people every Sunday, not counting daughter churches. Their Bible college, Hyles-Anderson College of West Africa, has graduated 87 students. The Christian school my husband Brett helped launch, the Fundamental Baptist Academy, has 445 students enrolled this school year. Every August, their Pastors' and Workers' Conference draws hundreds from across West Africa, and they currently have over 70 team members on payroll. These statistics are just the tip of the iceberg in relating the incredible ministry the Lord has built through their faithful service. But Elizabeth's impact goes far beyond numbers. She is a woman who has faithfully embraced the priorities of each season God has led her through. She's a steady voice of wisdom, and a beautiful example of what it looks like to abide in Christ.Elizabeth is also a proud mom to Kimberly, James, Rachel, Grace, and Michael, as well as a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and a precious granddaughter. And for a little taste of her Ghanaian life, quite literally, her favorite local dish is red red with pepper sauce. If you know, you know!So whether you're folding laundry, commuting to work, or just needing encouragement in your own walk today, I pray this conversation is a blessing. Are you ready to be encouraged and equipped to abide in Christ? Let's get into the heart of today's episode.RESOURCES:Elizabeth Speer - Facebook PageBible Memory App - Phone AppNourishing Traditions - WebpageTEAM:Podcast Facilitator - Mrs Tammy Goddard Host - Jennifer BeilSocial Media Director - Lisa Grubb Music Coordinator - Lindsey Osgood Resource Promoter - Connie MarrujoFOLLOW US:InstagramFacebookWebpageYouTube
Do you ever find yourself hustling for your worth or looking for it in all the wrong places? You are not alone. Too many girls and women are lost and wandering, endlessly seeking security and approval in places and things that never satisfy. In this episode, Brittany Maher, Cassandra Speer, and Allie Smith talk about how our value doesn't rise and fall with opinions or performance — it's anchored in the unshakable truth of Jesus. We pray that you will be encouraged and equipped to live with unshakable confidence in who God says you are and stop measuring your worth by the world's ever-changing metric system. Episode Topics: Knowing your value in Christ changes everything. True worth is found in God's word, not in worldly standards. We often attach our identities to counterfeit measures. The journey to discovering true worth is ongoing. Confronting the lies you have believed is essential to embracing our true identity. People-pleasing can lead to a cycle of seeking approval in areas where we weren't meant to. We must identify and pull the weeds in our lives to walk in our true worth and calling. Our past mistakes do not determine our worth. Living securely in our identity in Christ allows us to fulfill the purpose God created us for. From cattle expansion to succession planning and the future of the beef business — this week we dig into the big picture of where our industry stands. Industry consultant Dr. Nevil Speer is our guest as we discuss what current cow numbers are telling us, why some producers may be choosing to retire, and how a lack of succession planning continues to erode family ranches across the country. And in the midst of it all, Speer reminds us why there's still plenty of reason for optimism — and why there's never been a better time to be in the cattle business. #workingranchmagazine #ranchlife #ranching #dayweather #weather #agweather #beef #cows #livestock #cattle #Allflex #Neogen #IngentyBeef #TankToad #WorkingRanchRadio #BeefCattle #CowCalf #RanchEconomics #RanchProfitability #CattleManagement #SuccessionPlanning #EstatePlanning #CattleMarket #BeefIndustry #DrNevilSpeer #AgPodcast #RuralAmerica
Send us a textThe Ancient Faith - Caleb SpeerI therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, 3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:1–6, ESV)We are called to be unified as one. We must also be one with God. We are to reflect his image from ourselves and choices. This oneness is what unites us in Christ and God. We are called to be unified in Christ. We must strive for it. We are one because Christ died on the cross, not because we agree on something. Unity does not equal uniformity. Though diversity is essential, this is by design with God. Though at first it may seem to be divisive, the Ephesian and Roman letters were written to illustrate this. What was designed by God is this Ancient faith. It provides us a family for us to strive together. Because it isn't new, we must go back to the foundations of the church that Christ established. What is the result? We invite you to the community striving for unity while the world is out to divide us. Fighting for unity makes us holy and bears the fruit of the Spirit. We have to consider giving up some of our personal wants in order to unify. Christ is what unifies us regardless of race, culture, tradition, locale, or nationality. =====Searching for answers to life's questions? Need help finding a church? Drop us a line. Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GncsGI4_L3o Get to know the screenwriter: What is your screenplay about? Bitter is a belated coming of age story for anyone that feels like the paradigm of success has shifted. It takes the traditional geek vs bully high school sub-genre and basically turns it on its ass, focusing on WILLOW, a once-hopeful two-time valedictorian, slated for success. Now, 10 years later, she's a bitter waitress, struggling with resentment and unmet potential, all while PARKER, her high school bully, lives the good life as a prominent influencer. What genres does your screenplay fall under? Bitter is definitely a comedy. When developing this story, it felt necessary to look through a humorous lens. The plot tackles a lot of socially-relevant themes and issues we all deal with on a daily basis: comparison culture, scam-influencers, toxic personalities—things that can absolutely consume a person. So, I thought it was important to craft the story and its characters from a place of comedy. I wanted to avoid the perception of whining or lecturing, and write a story that has something to say, but also has audience wanting to listen because they're getting to laugh along the way. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie? Movies have changed drastically over the last decade—some changes good, some bad, but I think a gap has been created for some of the sillier, more light-hearted comedies that can still pack a punch—that have something to say, but do it in a way to invites, not divides. I think Bitter recaptures this approach, in line with early-2000's movies like Mean Girls, Bruce Almighty, Miss Congeniality. The themes are there. The lessons are there. But so is the fun. 1995-1997: The Freedom Fight (https://thankskenpenders.tumblr.com/readingorder)Albert Speer was a German architect who served as Minister of Armaments and War Production in Nazi Germany during most of World War II. After the war, Speer was among the 24 "major war criminals" charged by the International Military Tribunal for Nazi atrocities. Speer had carefully constructed an image of himself as an apolitical technocrat who deeply regretted having failed to discover the monstrous crimes of the Third Reich. He was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity, principally for the use of slave labor, narrowly avoiding a death sentence. Having served his full term, Speer was released in 1966.Archie Comics Sonic The Hedgehog #3000:00 Intro04:56 The Return of Uncle Chuck Part I21:15 The Return of Uncle Chuck Part II37:56 The Return of Uncle Chuck Part III57:07 Who Keeps Stealing My Chaos Emeralds ?!01:05:04 Outro-----Gotta Talk Fast is an oral review of Archie Comics' Sonic the Hedgehog.

In the News - Big changes: Iconic U.S. ammo brands sold, federal hunting access funding threatened, and colleges embrace social media influencer courses. Join radio hosts Rebecca Wanner aka 'BEC' and Jeff ‘Tigger' Erhardt (Tigger & BEC) with The Bend Radio Show & Podcast, your news outlet for the latest in Outdoors & Western Lifestyle News! Season 5, Episode 221 Key Developments Impacting Iconic Brands, Public Hunting, and Education Iconic American Ammo Brands Sold to Czech Company The iconic American ammunition brands Federal, Remington, Hevi Shot, Speer, and CCI have new ownership. Sold in November 2024, these legendary names in ammo were sold to the Prague-based Czechoslovak Group (CSG) for $2.225 billion. This acquisition marks the end of a 2.5-year process involving scrutiny and approval by U.S. regulatory bodies. Under its new parent company, The Kinetic Group, led by CEO Jason Vanderbrink, these brands are set to thrive with long-term investments that aim to boost innovation and production. Vanderbrink states that moving away from the pressures of short-term returns will allow the brands to focus on delivering better and more reliable ammunition for consumers. Why the Sale Happened The ammo brands were previously owned by Vista Outdoor, a company managing a mix of outdoor and ammunition businesses. A strategic decision was made to split the two sectors due to differing business models and investor demands. Ammunition, a volatile commodity market, didn't align well with the stable growth expectations of lifestyle brands like Bushnell and Primos. National Security Concerns Addressed The sale raised national security concerns, prompting an investigation by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Despite opposition from some politicians, including then Senator JD Vance (now current Vice-president), the sale was cleared in June 2024. CSG emphasized its commitment to supporting U.S. military, law enforcement, hunters, and allied nations, along with its nearly 4,000 American employees. The Future of American Ammo With additional resources from CSG, which also owns a majority stake in Fiocchi, The Kinetic Group is poised to grow and innovate. Manufacturing plants like Federal's in Minnesota and Remington's in Arkansas will continue to play a key role in supplying high-quality ammunition for American and allied markets. References: https://www.outdoorlife.com/guns/kinetic-group-sold-to-czechoslovak-group/ https://smokinggun.org/vista-outdoor-closes-2b-sale-of-ammunition-brands-to-czech-firm/ https://czechoslovakgroup.com/en/news/csg-acquisition-kinetic-group Funding Gap Threatens Federal Walk-In Hunting Access Program The Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program (VPA-HIP), which funds walk-in hunting access on private lands, will not receive federal funding in 2025, creating challenges for hunters and conservationists. Without these funds, states cannot expand or create new access programs, leaving hunters with fewer opportunities. Historically funded by the farm bill, the program received $50 million in 2018 but saw reduced funding with recent extensions. The 2025 farm bill extension omitted funding entirely, marking the second consecutive year without adequate support. States participating rely on these grants to incentivize private landowners to allow public hunting and improve habitats. Existing programs will likely remain stable for now, thanks to state-level funding, but the gap limits expansion and new initiatives. Conservation leaders are advocating for Congress to include $150 million for the Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program in the next farm bill. Bipartisan proposals to triple the program's funding offer hope, though Congress has struggled to reach agreements. The program's benefits extend beyond hunting, generating millions in economic activity and supporting jobs. Advocates urge sportsmen to contact lawmakers to push for a farm bill that secures funding for VPA-HIP and boosts public land access. The trend sees schools now taking content creation seriously as a viable career choice. The influencer marketing industry is valued at over $21 billion and is a favorite field among young people. Arkansas Tech University is even offering a "Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Media Influencing." Coy grew up going to horse sales, roping, and training horses and he's been able to make a living at that since then. He's been able to live an exciting life traveling all across the country training horses and buying and selling horses. He was even able to take a cool opportunity in show business taking care of the horses on some big movies and was even able to do something stunts and train some stunt horses. He has since settled down in Coleman, TX where he always keeps several horses on hand and has even started putting on horse sales, Texas Horse Sales. Industry consultant Nevil Speer helps illustrate the story of the transformation of the nation's cowherd during the last decade or so, and Oklahoma producer Jimmy Taylor shares his personal example. Rising to meet consumer expectations has been a self-fulfilling prophecy, where better beef begets more demand, but there are other considerations. Can you have the carcass and the cow? How have novel genetic tools allowed for a much faster pace of progress? What's on the horizon? Answers to all that and more, in this episode that offers a peek at the priorities of the commercial Angus bull buyer. HOSTS: Miranda Reiman and Troy Marshall, American Angus Association director of commercial industry relations GUESTS: Jimmy Taylor and Nevil Speer Jimmy Taylor, an Elk City, Okla., commercial Angus producer, manages around 600 females on 12,000 acres alongside his wife, Tracy. In 2011 they were named the Certified Angus Beef Commitment to Excellence Award winners and in 2013 the Oklahoma Angus Association Commercial Breeder of the Year. Taylor has served on various local boards and recently served on the executive committee for the Cattlemen's Beef Board. He is a strong proponent of using all the tools available to produce the highest quality beef possible. Nevil Speer, Bowling Green, Ky., started his industry consulting business after a career in academia and private industry. He earned a doctorate in animal science from Colorado State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Western Kentucky University, where he taught for several decades. He says he's forever a student of the business and uses his combination of on-farm experience, academic training, and start-up know-how as he consults, writes and speaks across the country. By early 1942 Nazi Germany was facing a moment of crisis when it came to the production of munitions and other equipment. The inherent chaos of the regime, Hitler's selection of favourites who knew how to tell him only what he wanted to hear, along with the soaring war production of the USA, UK and USSR led to the appointment of Albert Speer as Minister for Armaments.Help the podcast to continue bringing you history each weekIf you enjoy the Explaining History podcast and its many years of content and would like to help the show continue, please consider supporting it in the following ways:If you want to go ad-free, you can take out a membership hereOrYou can support the podcast via Patreon hereOr you can just say some nice things about it here Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/explaininghistory.
