She's particularly passionate about urban policies that make cities better, stronger and more vibrant. As a sociologist–but also as a New Yorker–she began attending meetings of NYC's "prepper" community: a group of people dedicated to preparing for disasters the government may not be equipped to help with, whether it's a pandemic, terrorist attack or natural disaster.Anna clarifies: they aren't preparing for the end of the world- just whatever kind of day tomorrow might be. She describes the emotional and ethical knots (siblings, guilt) and how illiquid assets/annuity rules and bank hurdles complicate paying caregivers. Takeaways: set POAs/health proxies, add phone legacy contacts, name beneficiaries on all accounts/titles to avoid probate, and use fee-only help when needed. Beth frames inheritances as “Bubby money” spending aligned with a loved one's values and urges investing in health and lifestyle now.

This week, Jason is joined by reality TV and Jupiter, Florida's favorite couple, Tyler Cameron and Tate Madden! Many know Tyler from his numerous reality TV appearances, more specifically in Bachelor Nation where he was looking to find love. Little did he know that true love was right under his nose having met Tate while working at his company in Florida. Tyler and Tate have continued working together in their own entrepreneurial endeavors, including a new career pivot for Tyler. Tyler and Tate open up about where life and business have taken them since reality TV. Tyler shares his transition into real estate, what it's really like working as a realtor compared to being a contractor, and why—despite signing with Serhant—he won't be appearing on Selling Manhattan. He talks about the importance of being part of a team, his Emmy nomination, and the best house flip they've pulled off so far, plus why the “buy and hold” tactic matters in real estate. Tate dives into building her personal brand online, blocking out the noise of social media, and the influence her mom had on their early DIY projects. Together, they reflect on long-term professional and personal planning, the challenges that come with doing things that feel scary or uncomfortable, and how their personalities balance one another. From whether reality TV could still be in their future, to how their parents defend them online, to what today's reality shows can learn from younger generations—Tyler and Tate leave no stone unturned. And of course, some rapid-fire fun to wrap it all up. Tate and Tyler reveal all this and so much more in another episode you can't afford to miss! God has given us the ability to plan, and it is wise for us to use it for his purposes for our lives. In humility we receive and submit to God's purposes. In confidence in the Lord, we make our plans and trust him to accomplish his will. Let's be good stewards of the ability to make plans for the future. Grace Community Church exists to build spiritually healthy people for ministry in the world. One of the ways that we pursue this mission is by gathering each Sunday for corporate worship, prayer, and biblical teaching. Imagine the relief of a warm, understanding hand reaching out just when your carefully constructed plans start to crumble under the weight of ADHD. That's the feeling Nikki and Pete aim to instill as they wrap up their series on their new book, "Unapologetically ADHD: A Step-by-Step Framework for Everyday Planning on Your Terms." This week, they tackle the often-dreaded concept of "planning for the future," acknowledging the unique hurdles it presents for those with ADHD.Forget rigid schedules and unforgiving to-do lists. Nikki and Pete encourage listeners to reimagine their planning systems as a circle of supportive friends, always ready to welcome them back, no matter how long it's been. They offer gentle guidance on recognizing the subtle signs of a system in need of repair – the overflowing inbox, the forgotten calendar, the siren song of the sticky note. But more importantly, they delve into the heart of the matter: the emotional turmoil that often accompanies these struggles. They urge listeners to face those feelings of fear, uncertainty, and shame with compassion, recognizing them as a natural part of the journey.Pete shares a passage from the book, validating the immense effort it takes to maintain those carefully crafted systems, reminding listeners that "it is not easy. It's never been easy. The dirty truth is that it never will be easy." He celebrates the quiet courage it takes to keep trying, to embrace imperfection, and to find joy in the face of constant challenges. The episode leaves listeners with a message of hope and self-acceptance. Nikki and Pete remind us that true success lies not in flawlessly executing our plans, but in finding the strength to get back up, dust ourselves off, and embrace the beautiful, messy reality of living "Unapologetically ADHD."Links & NotesUnapologetically ADHD: A Step-by-Step Framework For Everyday Planning On Your TermsDig into the podcast Shownotes Database (00:00) - Welcome to Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast (02:05) - Planning (07:04) - Warning Signs that your System is Weakening (09:44) - Emotions (12:21) - A Jeremy Bearimy Refresher (18:36) - The Three Definitions of Impossible (20:37) - This is ADHD ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
