~Persian thuuuuuugs, but Contras from Nicaragua~Protests abound, hijabs burned, shots fired, kabobs unseasoned: A lot's been happening in Iran. Once again, the Hot Pocket lads offer some historical context and advice to chew on.We focus on the history of the BP oil company, formerly known as the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, to explain why the West has always been so interested in this part of the war. All of which becomes painfully relevant for when we look at the CIA-backed coup of Mohammad Mosaddegh and the establishment of the Pahlavi dynasty.Which leads us to this episode's thesis: Not all skinfolk are kinfolk. There's plenty of reasons to support the people of Iran, but there's plenty of Iranians with bad intent. And we close off with a discussion about the hijab and modest wear in general.Skip to 4:30 if you want to jump right into the actual news/history.

If we're to make sense of what happened on August 15t, 2021, we need to to follow the relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and understand the Taliban as a political force. From there we tackle the question's everyone's asking: What's America's role now? Can the people who brought a country to ruin also save it? Can imperialism ever be justified? It's a heavy, thorough, but informative episode, giving more to think about than canned talking points. Also Saad wanted to name this episode "one night afghanistand" but democracy prevailed.

Saad's back just in time for the hallmark 10th episode. Annnnnnnd we're arguing about something we saw in a comic book store: Where does art end, and where does civility begin? The conversation focuses on depiction of religious figures, but it broadens out as the boys take opposing views. Shehr's personal belief is that some things are off-limits: artists should hear and respect the wishes of different groups. Saad makes a broad-based appeal: the cost of free expression is allowing for things that are unsavory.Podcasting takes work, communication and patience. An ESPN reporter's hot mic causes a national debate on white feminism, then we check in on every company that posted a black box last summer. There's a theme here but I'll let you piece it together.A hot mic would probably ruin my life too if I'm honest. Catch me when I'm gaming or driving? Comrades and ghouls, it's time to fight the empire. Today's all about the plantain nation: Who are the Cuban Americans? What role is America playing? Do you really need to repost that infographic on your story? It's a no-nonsense extravaganza. If you want to have a better sense of Cuban-American history, this is a good place to start. We keep things somewhat brief, but very easy to follow. (Skip to the 7 minute mark if you want to jump right into it).And then we complain about our insurance plans. Only six episodes in and we're already using other people's content to fill the time. Calling this segment "Dirty Laundry": we make fun of people who write to advice columns. Best way to get over someone? Get on top of someone else and kick them while they're down. We pulled some strings and muscles to get President Barry's input on shooting dogs, making out, smelly SO's, and the devious white woman. All my favorite hobbies in one place.Music courtesy of: https://www.bensound.com

But don't worry we find a success story in......Bill Cosby. Well at least someone's doing okay. Finally, we go in-depth on the conflict between content creators and content platforms. The better half was out of town, so Saad hires/forces an (unpaid) intern to buy Takis and co-host. And you can't say Saad's a bad boss, he's just getting into character: we talk about Tesla's labor practices and the abuses of the conservatorship system (vis-à-vis Britney Spears, the elderly and the disabled). Plus. ASMR. And I thought they lost the Cold War? No? Ok.
