An organized home is step #1 to an organized life, and when your home is cluttered... so is your life. What do you want your life to look like? Let’s tidy it up together. Kelly Haller from The Tidy Rebel (the Organization Anti-Guru) reveals all of her
Do you identify as a ‘high-achiever'? If not…you might by the end of this episode ;) Today, Stacy and I are talking about ‘underground' high-achievers. These are the folks who have an inner critic that never lets them rest. Stacy and I both know because we have BEEN there! No matter how much we achieved, we feel like there wasn't much to be proud of. Stacy helps these high-achievers get where they want to be – HOW THEY WANT to be there. Ready to come along? Get ready to ask the right questions and get honest with yourself so you can reconnect to what really matters to you. Questions like:What lights me up?What brings me energy? What drains my energy? What matters to me?What doesn't really matter to me?What am I pretending is working? What's actually working?Time to recalibrate your GPS to your own expectations and what truly feels good.—Stacy is a life and leadership coach who empowers deeply caring and overextended high-achievers – like you – to honor your needs, do less, and say no so you can invest your time and energy in what matters most to you. She helps her clients shift from doing to being as they tap into the wisdom in their bodies and spirits instead of just their [over]thinking minds.Stacy's mission is to create a world where overachievers shift to tending to their own needs first, without feeling like they're letting everyone else down. She serves clients with 1:1 coaching and group coaching.Stacy and I chatted on her podcast here: https://www.outgrowthegrind.co/blog/prioritizeyouinsteadofperfectionFind the rest of Stacy's podcast here: https://www.stacyrayekellogg.com/podcastFollow Stacy on Instagram here: @outgrowthegrindHire Stacy and learn more about her work here: www.stacyrayekellogg.com
It's rare (in my world at least) to meet a human who describes themselves as ‘low on the people-pleasing spectrum', but Natalie does just that. This refreshing and frank conversation I had with Natalie sheds light on the disparities in wealth building between Black people, people of color, and white people. Natalie knows this topic intimately as she lost her full-tuition scholarship during college because she *had* to work to pay her bills. After school, her student loan payment was more than her mortgage and car loan combined. I was surprised/not surprised to hear that 12% of the population is black, but 70% of student loan debt belongs to Black people. Predatory lending has always disproportionately targeted people of color. Listen in as Natalie and I unpack some of the underlying roots of the systems that create wealth inequality with a little sass and lots of laughs along the way!-----Natalie Bullen is a wealth and money mindset coach from Mobile, AL. As the owner of Unapologetic Wealth, she teaches financial empowerment and money mindset training for powerful women of color so they can step into the wealth they deserve and desire. She is also a Financial Planner who shuns traditional personal finance values rooted in shame, guilt and fear and encourages followers to dream bigger, increase their prices and magnify their gifts.Listen to Natalie on Clubhouse:@nataliebullenLearn more about Natalie's work and find her social media accounts here: https://unapologeticwealth.ck.page/ Get on the waitlist for her highly anticipated networking group here!
You don't have to get rid of a single beanie baby in order to be organized and feel good in your home. There is no moral high ground to depriving yourself of "extra" stuff. However... two things can be true at the same time. Minimalism can be used selectively in order to save you from the STUFF that you're constantly drowning in. You can be a happy maximalist, and still apply the principal of minimalism to specific areas of your home. This isn't an either-or world, and you get to make your own rules. Krista Lockwood from Motherhood Simplified helps moms declutter and simplify their lives in order to maintain their sanity. Because motherhood is a season that, well... might require some selective minimalism so that you can keep up with the specific challenges that motherhood brings (and free up room for more JOY instead). Kelly and Krista discuss both of their minimalism journeys (one was by accident, while the other was on purpose), and why they no longer believe that minimalism is a silver bullet to fix your problems. Do we hate minimalism? NO! Minimalism might be the right solution for your life, but it helps to be damn sure before you dive off the deep end and end up regretting all the stuff you later realize wasn't even the real problem. We discuss who it might be right for, and how *not* to do it so that you stay in alignment with your values.Follow Krista on Instagram, and download her free "Clear Your Clutter" guide to plug into her amazing support group for moms who want less chaos and more joy in their journey. Rachael Kay Albers (RKA) is the one woman SNL of biz comedy who started unapologetically naming names and pointing out unethical practices in online business in early 2021. She had spent years in marketing trying to get her clients to care about more than the bottom line and wondering how we got *here* in entrepreneurship. Her deep hunger for innovation and frustration with the modern cult of ‘branding' led her to light all the bullshit on fire. RKA told the uncensored truth in her ‘Free School' and publicly aired her grievances — as well as her hard-earned wisdom — to the Instagram world. Because…who doesn't love a dumpster fire? Lauren Marie Fleming started coaching her peers on storytelling when she was 8 years old and giving speeches in 4H. Spoiler alert: she says snacks and asking ‘why' were her secret key to success. As she grew up, she learned the power of the stories we tell ourselves and others as she was deeply shamed and dangerously medicated for being fat. Finding proudly fat people to create community with allowed her to actively change her own narrative and started her journey of amplifying other voices that have been silenced and pushed to the sidelines. Lauren helps aspiring authors ditch the starving artist cliche and thrive. She has written for prominent publications like Vice and Huffington post and spoken at prestigious conferences such as Blog Her and at colleges including Yale. For over two decades Lauren has coached writers and other storytellers to write books that honor their creativity and humanity while making more money and telling better stories. In America, the patriarchy is always judging our worth based on an outward image of productivity, contribution, and potential value to others. But who comes up with the "standard" of worth? This metric for measuring success is already BS, and even more so when you're considered an outsider trying to find your way in the good ol US of A. When you're an immigrant, you might think of the patriarchy as your disapproving Aunty - whose expectations you can never live up to, no matter how perfectly you check off all the boxes.Anya Cherrice, helps immigrants and people from immigrant communities redefine archaic ideas of success and dream bigger. Organizing your home will uncover the answer to the most important questions. Like "what do I really want in life?" and "How do I get that?".You have lots of dream, goals, and aspirations, but those will have to wait - because what you really need is for everyone to leave you alone so you can take a nap or a vacation... There are lots of things that can help you get unstuck: Such as therapy, coaching, and personal development books. But what if you don't have an ounce of energy to spare for them?START WITH YOUR HOME. Start with the physical space that you spend most of your time in. It will either support you to be the person you want to be, or it will drain your energy. It will help you to ask yourself the right questions. Then move on to the harder things when you have the energy to do them. Need a kickstart? Get the free starter kit here: www.TheTidyRebel.com/ClutterRescueKit
To thrive in life, and to make money at work, we are told that there is a formula for success: work hard, hustle, be a team player, follow the rules, check off all the boxes, move up the ladder, think outside the box (but not that far outside!), and definitely don't let your personal life affect your work performance. But what if you are inherently missing an ingredient in that formula? Alison Tedford is here to tell you that formulas are exclusionary by default, that you most decidedly do NOT have to hustle to thrive, and you can take care of your own wellbeing FIRST, while still making money. Listen to this interview to hear how we can build a more accessible and equitable workforce, do work that works for us, and continue to dismantle the toxic/patriarchal/grind culture that leaves us all exhausted. Alison is an author, diversity and inclusion expert and entrepreneur from Abbotsford, BC, Canada. If you've had enough with your current circumstances, but you just feel STUCK: the way out is to listen to your HEART. Sounds stupid easy, right? Nicole Catenazzi is here to teach you that this is a skill that requires practice, but it is where you will find all of the answers. Call it your gut or call it your heart, you know when your soul is sending you one message, but your conscious brain is sending you another? It feels like something is off, it feels unsatisfying, it feels misaligned. But your brain instantly fills in the obvious information about why you should keep doing exactly what you are doing (or the next best course of action). So you keep pushing through for things that don't feel aligned with who you are and what you want. What other choice do you have aside from just staying the course and grinding away? STEP ONE to figuring out the right choices is learning that you have all of the answers within YOURSELF already. But, how the heck do you tell the difference between your ego and your heart? And shouldn't we be able to trust our thoughts anyway (spoiler alert: no)? Find Nicole here for more help getting unstuck!Nicolecatenazzi.com (The Fearless Heart Method) Instagram

Always running out of time for basic self-care? Or are you always running behind and rushing from one thing to the next all day? Another lie that grind culture sells us is that we have to move at the pace of a machine and "be nice" by saying yes to things we don't really want to do (or have time for)... but there is a really simple fix. Is it easy? Not necessarily. But it IS really darn simple. It takes some practice to incorporate a less frantic way of managing your time, but the payoff is more energy, more focus, and a clearer sense of your own direction.
Very few things in life are actually urgent. Full stop. "If you don't want to burn out, stop living like you are on fire" (author unknown). Is work urgent today? (Nope. Well, probably not)Is housework urgent today? (Nope.)Are other people's requests for your attention urgent? (Nope.) Is your wellbeing urgent today? (Maybe!)How do you know how to prioritize all of the "demands" on your time? If you don't prioritize, this is a sneaky reason that you might struggle with staying organized. And when something is TRULY URGENT, how can you give it proper attention when everything else demands your time too? You, my friend, might be living in this cultural construct we have bought into that everything must be done "on time". It's all fake, and it is keeping you disorganized. You have to be able to prioritize what is actually important, say no to all of the people in your life (including your boss), and accept that some balls are better off being dropped.
Motherhood will slap you in the face with some hard lessons. But do they really need to be that hard? It might be time to change your mind about motherhood. Kelly and Julie chat about how to simplify your home, identify what to stop doing (once you no longer have gobs of extra time & energy), and reject the "exhausted mom" myth that we are fed by social media. What limits are you putting on yourself based on what you "know" to be true about life?Guess what! You are capable of being whoever you want to be. Your current reality, even your current personality, is not limited to what you already know to be true. Nobody is actually special, and yet... YOU are so much more extraordinary than you realize. Is there anything you wish you could change about yourself? What if I told you that reality is subjective (are we in the Matrix?), and you get to believe whatever you decide is most useful about yourself? LIMITING BELIEFS, man , they'll get you every time. "Busy Work": The downfall of modern woman. How can you be SO busy, but not feel like you're getting anything done? Busy work makes you feel like you're being productive and efficient (and sometimes you ARE!).But it's just not the best use of your time. You have better things to do than always be busy. Just kidding. The rules are all BS. But you can't keep everything either! So, what's a gal to do? Let's talk about why the rules don't work, why you end up replacing your old clutter for new clutter, and what to do control the clutter instead. On the one hand you can have tons of very organized clutter that looks real nice (but weighs you down and wastes your time). On the other hand you can become a minimalist and keep nothing that you don't absolutely need. But... what if those weren't your only two options? When you have tried and failed at a habit enough times that all evidence points to the fact that you just suck at it - it's natural to accept this result as just “who you are”. Or when you want so badly to do something amazing, but it is so far removed from your current reality that it feels like a fairy tale wish… how do you convince yourself that it is possible when, on a deep subconscious level, you literally don't believe that it is possible? Here is how in four steps. You don't need more willpower once habits truly stick. Here's how to make sure they do. It's easy to get discouraged when trying to quit a “bad” habit, or when real life sets back in after the honeymoon phase of your New Year's resolutions. One of the biggest challenges about having a peaceful home is all of the other annoying people that happen to live there too… Here is a high level overview of how to get on the same page with your partner, spouse, kids, and roommates (of any kind) to talk about how a chaotic home affects ALL of you. Sorry, but your habits don't make you happier, more productive, more virtuous, OR more successful… on their own. Habits are neither “good” nor “bad”. And you don't get gold stars on your chart for making your bed every day unless you still live with your mom. What's the difference between a habit and a ritual, anyway? One is mindless, while the other one is mindful. And what deeper meaning are you assigning to your habits, either consciously or unconsciously? In a world where information is flying at your head faster than the speed of a toddler on fruit snacks... and where you are constantly updated with everyone else's information all day long too (thank you, smart phones) - how can you possibly organize your thoughts? Disorganized thoughts manifest as a disorganized life, but you can take back control of where your head is at no matter how scattered you are at this moment. No meditation required for this lesson! Some people miss the point about being organized... Having a sexy home and making your pantry pinterest worthy, though nice, are definitely NOT the point. Making your bed in the morning does not make you a better person by default. But being an organized person is a tool in your tool kit for getting what you want in LIFE. Your home is your foundation for how you show up in the rest of your life; your physical space is a reflection of your mental space, and vice versa. How can you #crush your hopes and dreams when you are living in chaos or obsessing over how your home might look to people who don't even live there? The point of being organized is to spend your time and energy doing meaningful things instead of perpetually cleaning up (or not cleaning up and simply hating your home). The point is to be able to focus on what matters to you without wasting time, energy, space, and money on distractions. The point is to make your life easier and eliminate unnecessary struggle. Life has enough inherent struggle without adding your home to that list. Struggle itself is neither necessary nor meaningful, so let's stop trying to earn badges for how hard we work to keep it all together. When you have a home that supports your vision for your life, things fall into place with far less struggle.Come visit me at www.TheTidyRebel.com for more help organizing your life and your home!
