Alpha-synuclein plays a key role in the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease, and researchers have been investigating this protein as a therapeutic target and also as a potential biomarker for the disease. The alpha-synuclein seed amplification assay, developed by Dr. Claudio Soto and colleagues, leverages the self-replicating nature of the misfolded alpha-synuclein proteins that form aggregates in Parkinson's disease. Amplifying misfolded alpha-synuclein can allow researchers and clinicians to detect the presence of the pathological form of the protein in biospecimens, even when the amount of misfolded alpha-synuclein in a sample is very low. In this episode, Claudio discusses his work in this area and how it has opened the doors for a variety of potential uses of the alpha-synuclein seed amplification assay, including applications in diagnosis, clinical trials, and drug development for Parkinson's disease. This year, Claudio received the 2024 Robert A. This episode explores the importance of well-being and care for employees in various industries. Drawing from interviews with Ariana Huffington and Simon Sinek, Michael highlights the detrimental effects of neglecting the mental health and well-being of workers. The episode emphasises the need for companies to prioritise the care and empowerment of their employees, as it directly impacts productivity and the quality of service provided to clients. Michael also discusses the alarming statistics of preventable deaths in hospitals due to a focus on numbers rather than the well-being of healthcare workers.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Mental health and well-being are crucial for productivity: Ariana Huffington highlights that when employees are exhausted and burnt out, their performance suffers, leading to decreased productivity and a lack of empathy towards customers. Well-being is about empowerment, not just cuddling: Huffington explains that well-being is not simply about providing comfort to employees, but rather empowering them with the tools and support they need to be their best selves. The importance of caring for employees: Simon Sinek highlights the need for companies to care about their employees as human beings, to make them feel seen, heard, understood, and valued. This sense of care and belonging contributes to a positive work culture and personal identity within the organisation. Neglecting employee well-being has consequences: There are many negative impacts of neglecting employee well-being, such as preventable deaths in hospitals due to small mistakes caused by a lack of care and attention to the workforce. This neglect also leads to disillusionment, burnout, and health problems among employees. The need for a shift in mindset: Sinek argues that businesses should adopt a mindset focused on long-term sustainability and the well-being of employees. Operating with a finite mindset, solely driven by numbers and productivity, is not sustainable and can lead to negative outcomes for both employees and the organisation. BEST MOMENTS "Mental health and well-being are central to productivity. When I'm exhausted and burnt out, I'm the worst version of myself."  "We need to define well-being correctly. Well-being is not about cuddling an employee. It means empowering them, helping them with tools that they need to be the best version of themselves."  "There has to be this general feeling that the company cares about me as a human being, that I'm seen, that I'm heard, that I'm understood, that I believe in the vision and that I want to advance the culture." "Hospitals are run like businesses, they are run based on focusing on the numbers. This means that although they are caring for large numbers of people and are highly skilled, they work in a culture that does not care for those who are doing this vital work."  "The total lack of care offered by employers would be reasonable only if their workforce was composed entirely of artificial intelligence. Human beings though need to be cared for, listened to, valued and respected."  familycourtcoaching@gmail.com Instagram: michael240656 Michael Watson is a qualified social worker and author with over thirty years of experience working with children and families. As an expert in family court, Michael is in a key position to assist, advise, and coach parents through their private law family proceedings and provide them with the information and skills to represent themselves successfully in court. I'm motivated to have a conversation about the evolution of learning with all of you.  Without further delay let's engage in conversation. According to the American Institute of Stress 80% of workers feel stress on the job, nearly half say they need help in learning how to manage stress and 42% say their coworkers need such help. To bring some context to this discussion I want to introduce you, to Adam Strong.   Adam Strong is an Ultra-High Personal Productivity Authority, Business Strategist, Author, Public Speaker and the Founder of the Game Changers Experience. Adam was a former elite athlete in distance running (current world and Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah was his former training partner) and teaches the same success principals creating high energy and fast growing companies.   I lived near to a golf course which was going to be the corner stone of my first business. So I started to run up and down the fairway, wading through streams with a fishing net and exploring undergrowth in a search for lost golf balls. Naturally the golfers were more than a little curious about why a young lad was walking around their course with a bucket and fishing net. I'd show them the rescued golf balls and offer to sell them. Most said yes and I quickly learnt two things. The branded Dunlop and Slazenger balls would be worth 2/3 times more than an unbranded one. But only If they were undamaged. But to make any money I had to quickly learn how to negotiate. They'd offer me ‘X' and I would haggle and haggle for a higher price until both of us were happy. Every time I came back with deep pockets of coins, I'd give some to my mum and save the rest. At the same time – maybe because of all that running around the golf course – I got into long distance running, some people though I was mad because I suffered from asthma! But a big advantage of running to me was that it didn't need too much money to get started and the more I ran the more my confidence returned and the better I got. This is when I met my first coach, a guy who was well versed in turning normal joe public people into champions. He helped me become an elite long-distance runner because I was willing to listen and determined to do work other kids were not. I learned so much from him. Things like, distractions will destroy your progress; when you eliminate them, getting into the zone becomes simpler and more productive. This culminated with being a training partner of Sir Mo Farah (currently world and Olympic champion in 5,000 and 10,000 metres). That's when I had my second breakthrough. The determination, creativity and mindset techniques world class athletes use to achieve impossible results could also be used to help entrepreneurs achieve the same thing. Take it from an ultra-athlete with asthma as a child. I'm featured on the front cover of Influential People Magazine, Global Woman magazine and Steer Magazine. Also featured in the Huffington post, The Guardian newspaper, People Management magazine and others. He joined me this week to tell me more.   For more information: https://adamstrong.net/ LinkedIn: @AdamStrong   To start I needed a bucket. So a brand was important, but so was quality.

Begin again instead. Every time we start over we also attempt to erase our past or erase us or at least parts of us. I know many of us are struggling to forgive ourselves of our past mistakes or struggles or regrets. Or we wish we had been or done differently in the past. But when we look to erase these parts of our story or completely start over, we don't honor who we are today. I would not be this happier, healthier, healing person without my past. I would not be this happier, healthier, healing person without my mistakes. I would not be this happier, healthier, healing person without the previous unhappy, unhealthy, suffering person I was before.   Taken from  Huffington post  “The Difference Between Beginning Again and Starting Over By Justine Brooks Froelker https://www.huffpost.com/entry/starting-again-not-over_b_6655420    Follow us on INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/tamichinmit... https://www.instagram.com/thebestess Check out my family vlog Meet The Mitchells:    / meetthemitchells    Download my FREE E-BOOK "HONOUR THE VALLEY" https://mailchi.mp/7e25212eecbd/honor... Her book talks about her spiritual journey after the sudden death of her 24-year-old son, Eric, which brought her to a whole new understanding of the questions we all ask about the meaning of life. She talks about her biggest struggles, what helped her the most in her grief and how she continues to remain connected to her son even after his death. She also provides advice and messages of hope for parents who are struggling with their own loss of a child. Today, Dolores continues to honor Eric by volunteering as an Affiliate Leader and Caring Listener with the international support organization for parents of children who have passed away, Helping Parents Heal. Did you know that we hold in our DNA 3 generations of unhealed pain and trauma? It's no wonder we find it challenging to manifest the life we desire. Free from limitations. Free from fear when we begin believing in ourselves. It then makes sense that we only use 40% of our true potential.  The way to break our ancestral patterns is first to be aware that they exist in the first place. Sounds easy, but it's not. This is why our society has so many addictions. How easy does it seem to just fill that painful and traumatized part of us with “empty fillers”? Fillers that work temporarily until the pain and trauma shows up in other ways. It will keep showing up until we learn to heal ourselves for good. This is the powerful practice of cycle breaking! Breaking the patterns that do not belong to us is how we heal for good.  For the past 10 years, today's special guest, Sarah Vie has been transforming women's lives- including her own. She is the best selling author of the beloved children's book, Let your Inner Golden Sparkle Shine, and author of her new release, I Wish I'd Known, is a transformational memoir of her healing and offers her tools of transformation.  Sarah has become an internationally sought out energy healer and inspirational mentor helping women and men heal their inner trauma and self doubt, so that they can live abundant joyful lives. She has been featured on by ABC, NBC, CBS affiliates and her articles have reached Huffington post and Modern Mom magazine publications.

She is an incredible woman, and clearly, her professional life is impressive. However, what really makes Michelle a powerhouse is the personal development work she has put in behind the scenes! Growing up, Michelle believed she didn't have much to say and was more thoughtful in nature. Like most introspective young girls, she took up journaling at the age of 14. She has consistently documented her life and her thoughts from then until now. Basically, she has a living and ongoing document about her, her life, and the steps she took to become successful! Three years ago as she found herself reading through a stack of old diaries she realized that maybe she did have a voice and maybe “having a voice” doesn't necessarily mean it's audible, a voice could be written too! Through an amazing series of events, her journals led her on a God adventure that ultimately led to her finding, owning, and honing her voice. Here is where we enter in! The wisdom and lessons she picked up along the way created powerful nuggets we can learn from. Hit play to hear her wisdom on finding your voice, how to live with more purpose and passion, how your voice can upgrade your most important relationships, how your voice can open doors to opportunity, and so much more. Imagine a world where you could light the Olympic rings with your mind, pour a beer with a thought controlled beer tap, or paint a picture using your thoughts! This week's guest brings the worlds of art, science, fashion, and technology all together with her brain sensing headband technologies. Her work has been featured in CNN, Forbes, Popular Science, TechCrunch, Wall Street Journal TechCrunch, and Huffington as well. Ariel Garten, Picasso of Brainwaves, is this week's guest on “The Jake Dunlap Show.” From a very young age, art and science were very well integrated into her life. Ariel's mother is a Visual Artist known for her large scale oil on canvas work, and Ariel was always into fashion, as clothing was “a blank canvas for expressing herself.” She believes she never wore anything twice to school as she constantly was coming up with new outfits. By 17 years old, she was designing and selling her own fashion in Toronto at the same time she was conducting stem cell and Parkinson's Disease research in Neuroscience at The University of Toronto. Along with her love for art and science, she also took an interest in the real estate development/management space as she continued Neuroconsulting as a Private Practice Therapist, where she helped her clients gain clarity on their objectives and needs while uncovering limiting beliefs in a supportive and engaging way. Now, she is the Founder and Chief Evangelist Officer at Muse (The Brain Sensing Headband by Interaxon) where she has designed meaningful and transformational experiences, ranging from a levitating chair to a thought-controlled beer tap! Muse is an Award-Winning headband that senses brain activity and sends information to a phone or tablet, giving real time audio feedback to make meditation easier. Outside of work, she is a previous Ted Talk speaker, and investor. Please enjoy this week's episode with Ariel Garten  A Special Muse Offer For "The Jake Dunlap Show" We have a special offer for listeners of “The Jake Dunlap Show.” Enjoy a 10% off discount (Use POD10) at checkout on choosemuse.com Ariel's Neuroscience Lectures:The Neuroscience of Morals“The Neuroscience of Molecular Gastronomy Psychotherapy and mental healthTrained psychotherapist trained in Neuro-linguistic Programming Ariel's Social Links:Website: https://choosemuse.com/welcome/Twitter: https://twitter.com/ariel_gartenLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/arielgarten/Podcast: Untangle Podcast, https://meditationstudioapp.com/podcastsMuse website: www.choosemuse.com Jake Dunlap:Personal Site - http://jakedunlap.com/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jakedunlap/Twitter - https://twitter.com/JakeTDunlapInstagram - http://instagram.com/jake_dunlap _Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/JakeTDunlap/ Skaled:Website - https://skaled.com/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/skaledYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsw_03rSlbGQkeLGMGiDf4Q
