Just a few friends talking about anything and everything sports.
This time around we tackle the atmosphere in professional sports. Michael Sam has come out, but isn't welcomed because of his sexual orientation. But you can beat your wife, accused of sexual harassment and other crimes, but because you love the wrong person you aren't welcomed? This is on top of the bullying issue that has come out of Miami. Both Tyler and Pops were vehemently against the United States going to Sochi. However, as we reach the halfway point they look at it again. And the Cleveland Clowns keep giving us fodder to make fun of them as they continue to fire everyone.
This week it's back to Purdue. National Signing Day has come and gone and completed year one for new coach Darrell Hazell. What does the class look like and what does it mean for year two at Ross Ade? And for basketball, Purdue continues to struggle. Should the heat be turned up on the ball coach? How high? It does end with an unusual event in NBA, that even Pops has never seen.
This week, Purdue Basketball continues to struggle. Free throws and poor 3 point shooting, among a bevy of other issues, sink this team. Is Painter's seat getting warm? The Pacers made a great pick up by signing Andrew Bynum, what do they expect? There's also more coach hirings that are going to be criticized, which more Cleveland pot shots. But the biggest story comes out of Northwestern. The players are trying to unionize and really change the face of college sports. Are college athletes closer to getting paid?
This week we start with Purdue, as the whole world sympathizes the tragic events that happened on the West Lafayette campus. The Winter Olympics are getting started, and unfortunately surrounded with similar headlines that have athletes and families worried about safety. And new this week is the headlines, we traverse things that have gone on in the sports world; including Richard Sherman, the changes to the extra point, the 'All-Star' game issues with the NFL and NBA and we talk tennis with the upset in the Australian Open.
It's Purdue and the AFC Championship. Â The basketball team continues to be maddeningly inconsistent. Â And they soon will be in the tougher part of the B1G schedule. Â What can they do? Â In the NFL it's the dream match up in the AFC. Â It's the legacy game between the Patriots and the Broncos, Peyton versus Brady. Â Does it mean anything, especially with it just being amazing that New England was able to get to this game.
It's a big one this week. Andrew Luck played the best half of his career and led one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history. That pretty much trumped the BCS Title, which was a solid game in itself. And of those two games, did someone win it or did the other team lose it? There are new ball coaches all over the place as well, most of them don't make a lot of sense.
We go back to our roots as we take a look at the NBA landscape. One of the founders is back to give his opinion of Derrick Rose before it expands to the rest of the league. There are some interesting trade scenarios and the West remains very tough. How far could the Clippers slide back with an injured Chris Paul. Is Portland for real? And for the East, is there even a decent 3 seed this year? It's mostly a whole lot of suck. It ultimately come down to the Pacers and Heat, and so does the MVP race.
It's all about coaching. Some long tenured coaches have lost their jobs in the NCAA ranks, and some big time jobs have been hard to fill. And for the NFL, you don't have really be qualified. It's all about who you know, not so much what you know. Maybe there are even a few mentions about loyalty to some successful Purdue coaches. Warning, there may be some pop shots about the poorly run Cleveland Browns' franchise.
We start with Purdue as the Boilermakers opened up B1G play with Ohio State. They've only played two quality opponents and lost, and have struggled to put together full games as well. A. J. Hammons went off, but they still couldn't pull it out. What does it mean for Painter's squad? Are they a tournament team? The Colts won the AFC South and finished the season strong, can they beat the Kansas City Chiefs again. It's a match up that looks tough. And of course there's the rest of the AFC landscape and the final BCS bowls and National Championship.
We are leaving Purdue mostly behind to talk Pacers and Heat and the BCS. However, they do start with the football announcements as some big boys will be coming to Ross Ade stadium. But it's mostly about the future Eastern Conference Finals match up. Are the Pacers the next Thunder? LeBron James' legacy is up for debate as well among some huge Michael Jordan fans. There's also the touchy topic of Jordan's competition versus LeBron's. And it finishes up with the last of the bowls of 2014.
We continue our banner carrying for the smaller Purdue programs. Congratulations to the Volleyball team for making the Elite 8 and the Women's Basketball team for their continued success in the top 20. A lot of the other smaller sports teams continue to have solid success, so what's wrong with basketball and football. Athletic Director Morgan Burke takes some heat in this one. The men's team is wrapping up its non-conference schedule as well. And we finish with some bowl talk, we're picking them all!
We're all over the place this week. We talk Purdue basketball before swinging down to Indy to talk Pacers and Colts. Can Indiana best the Bulls' 72-10 record? Will the Colts stop the bleeding and maintain the 3 seed? Can they even win in the first round? And of course, we are talking BCS bowls and the at large bids.
Purdue football ends the season with another loss, and this one is to IU. Were those 36 points just garbage time? Purdue basketball, unfortunately, has also left a sour taste in our mouth. Can the Colts rebound and do better than one and done in the playoffs this season? And can the Pacers be stopped? It wouldn't be an episode without college football talk. This week it's more non-support for OSU and conference championship talk.
High School Football is over, but the Colts and Pacers are getting added to the Purdue sports and BCS. Purdue Basketball has a huge match up to start their fall schedule and the Old Oaken Bucket is the only thing left to salvage the football season. Both Indy teams look good on the season. And the BCS is getting pretty close.
West Lafayette keeps cranking along. Only 2 wins left for the championship, can they do it? Meanwhile in West Lafayette the Boilermaker football team showed some improvement, will it lead to wins in the last two very winnable games? Our transition is starting as well as we move towards Purdue basketball, Pacers and Colts. But we of course wrap up with college football; the number 3 spot in the BCS and the soon to come Auburn and Alabama game.
There's only one Greater Lafayette high school team left, and West Lafayette has run through Sectionals. Can they keep it up? For Purdue football it seems to go from bad to worse. Perhaps a QB change? An offensive scheme change? And the family watches LSU versus Bama every year. That's over, what about the rest of the BCS. Can Baylor leap frog Ohio State?
We get one of the original band members back as we tackle the NBA. It's all 16, expected playoff teams, and playoff picks. You've got 2 Bulls fans and a Pacer fan in the same room. Do we agree on the East?
CC takes a surprising early exit, but West Lafayette continues to dominate. Can McCutcheon get the upset. Purdue continues to look bad, someone suggests a QB switch. We also give our top four college teams, and who is number 2 is big debate. The SEC and some BCS busters are up for debate as well.
We're talking High School playoffs, especially after the big CC and West Side game before moving on to Purdue. With a bye, does a top 5 OSU team coming to town mean Spoilermakers? It is Hazell's former team. And a lot of top ranked teams lost this past week, so we are of course talking the SEC and the BCS title picture.
This week we just touch on high school as we count down to the playoffs and CC versus West Lafayette. Purdue and Danny Etling didn't have a good showing, and the test doesn't get any easier. The SEC had a bit of a shake up, which of course means a shake up for the BCS.
It's a brief touch on high school football as we talk Purdue football coming out of their bye. They've got a chance to possibly spring a trap on the Cornhuskers and their weak defense. Basketball has started as well. Can a young Boilermaker team rebound from a sub par year? And it isn't news, but the SEC continues to dominate college football.
It's just a little bit of high school football this week as we focus on Purdue Football this week with the new Danny Etling era at QB. The Boilers have a bye, are some more offensive changes coming? And of course, can't forget the big games this past weekend in college football.
This week we gauge some early post season action for the Greater Lafayette teams, especially with West Lafayette steam rolling everyone. For Purdue football, it's a big week as the Boilers do some soul searching in what looks like a must win game. And of course, so big time college games in the SEC which should shape the national title picture.
Another week, and more Greater Lafayette High School and Purdue Football! We of course talk about the Alabama and A&M game. The NFL is part of our weekly picks, so find out our 5 wildcards for this week. Top college football is of course on the docket as well, including our 4 teams for a playoff.
It's Monday and that's means an update on the Greater Lafayette area sports. In high school, perhaps it's not just CC and West Side this year. The Boilers got their first W of the season, but have a tough schedule for the next few weeks and rest of the year. And of course you got our weekly picks, as we add the NFL.
Back again this week to cover the local sports. We talk Greater Lafayette High School, Purdue and our picks for the week!

It's a very special episode for the Triple Option. Thanks to our partners at Artistic Media Partners for helping us out with their interview with new Purdue Football Coach Hazell.
We're right in that middle area where the last Purdue season is completely over, but it's not time for the next one...yet. So we look back and review the Purdue Athletics' finishes and get into a little bit of the whole aspect of student athletes. They actually exist in West Lafayette.
We're back to get you your update on the Indianapolis Indians, who had a top prospect with a dominant performance, and of course Gerrit Cole. Also, there was a big commitment for Purdue Football and a basketball assistant is now sitting on the bench in the NBA. As well, several football players were put on preseason watch lists.
We check back in on the Indians this week and see what Gerrit Cole is up to before talking about the Pacers draft and some early expectations for this upcoming season.
It's all Purdue this week. A former Louisville player is looking at possibly joining Coach Painter's squad. As well a big verbal commitment looks like Hazell is already competing with the big boys.
Central Catholic Baseball won their 5th straight State Title, Purdue Swimming brought in a monster recruiting class, of course a Gerrit Cole and Indy Indians update, and we also talk a little Colts.
We start in Indy to give a small review on the Pacers before jumping over to Victory Field to take a look at the Indians. Top prospect Gerrit Cole was called up to the show. In West Lafayette lacrosse and hockey are coming to the Big Ten, but not Purdue, and the basketball team got another new face.
We touch on the Indians, and of course there's another chance to win a Family 4 Pack of tickets, before gearing up for Game 7 tonight between the Heat and Pacers.
We talk the success of the less heralded sports at Purdue and their effects on the bigger programs before traveling down to Indy again. We touch on the Indians before talking the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals.
We wrap up the Purdue baseball season before switching over to Mackey to talk about Painter's new Boilermaker. Then we head down 65 to talk a little Indians and preview the NBA Final 4.
We wrap up the season for Purdue softball and reflect on the last week of Purdue Baseball. We also take a look at the last week for the baseball season and end the podcast with the Indianapolis Indians. There's also another chance to win some Indians' tickets.
We're back! We have partnered up with Three Sports Guns and Artistic Media Partners to provide coverage of the I65 corridor. This week we are talking Purdue Softball and Baseball as they wind down their seasons and some Indianapolis Indians as well.
Of course it's more madness! We take a look at the past week of college basketball and see how we did on our predictions, before previewing the last few games of the tournament. Kevin Ware's injury, and the affect it could have on Louisville, is discussed as well.
We review our picks from the last podcast and look forward to the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 match ups.
IU fans beware, the bias comes out as we do some reflection on the Big Ten Tournament, Purdue in the CBI and do some preliminary picks for March Madness.
We venture into basketball this week. Talking some Big Ten as the conference tournament gets close, some reaction to the NBA Trade Deadline and some Kobe versus LeBron talk that a listener suggested off of Twitter.
We are on the road, but that didn't stop us from doing a podcast. With the Super Bowl over we take a look at our top 10 quaterbacks and the festivities of the NBA All Star game this weekend
We have some reaction to the Super Bowl and tackle the brand new head coaches in the NFL
