Joe Lombardo announced Wednesday a preliminary agreement between his office, state legislative leaders and the Oakland Athletics for a stadium funding plan. It comes after weeks of negotiations over how much public assistance the state will contribute to a $1.5 billion ballpark in Las Vegas. The preliminary agreement indicates a funding bill could come to the Nevada Legislature in the coming days. It still needs approval from both the Senate and Assembly, with less than two weeks until the session ends. The A’s have been looking for years for a home to replace Oakland Coliseum, where the team has played since arriving from Kansas City for the 1968 season. Tkachuk’s goal was his second of the night — and maybe the biggest in Panthers’ history. The Panthers will play either Vegas or Dallas for the Stanley Cup starting sometime next week; Vegas currently leads the Western Conference title series 3-0.  Ryan Lomberg and Anthony Duclair had the other goals for Florida, which swept a series for the first time in franchise history. Now down 3-1, the question is whether Boston can carry that energy home, a place where it is just 4-5 this postseason to keep alive its hopes of extending the series. At the very least the Celtics’ win made their hopes of becoming the first NBA team in 151 tries to overcome a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-seven series shift from insurmountable back to possible heading into Game 5. White said Thursday he’s continuing to prepare to start against Detroit. He has said all week that is his mindset. White has been limited at practice this week after he was twice knocked from the Jets' loss to the Bills in Buffalo last Sunday by big hits. That task falls to interim coach Brian Brohm. The Boilermakers are short-handed after Brian’s brother, Jeff, left for Louisville and took four assistants with him. Charlie Baker to be next NCAA president Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker will be the next president of the NCAA, replacing Mark Emmert as the head of the largest college sports governing body in the country. Baker, a Republican, has been governor of Massachusetts since 2015. He announced earlier this year he would not seek re-election. He will start the job in March 2023. Emmert announced he would step down earlier this year after 12 years of leading the NCAA. Battered by losses in the court and attacks by politicians, the NCAA is going through a sweeping reform, trying to decentralize the way college sports is governed. NCAA – National labor board to look into rights of USC athletes The National Labor Relations Board will investigate an unfair labor practice complaint involving the rights of University of Southern California football and basketball players. In February, the National College Players Association filed an unfair labor practice charge against USC, the Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA alleging misclassification of college players as “student-athletes” and other violations. The NLRB’s Region 21 in Los Angeles will look into the complaint that covers football and men’s and women’s basketball players at the private school. MLB – AP sources: Tigers agree to $8.5M contract with RHP Lorenzen The Detroit Tigers have bolstered their rotation by agreeing to a one-year contract with right-hander Michael Lorenzen, according to a person familiar with the situation. Lorenzen will make $8.5 million and can earn $1.5 million in performance bonuses based on innings pitched, another person told The Associated Press on Thursday. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. Lorenzen was 8-6 with a 4.24 ERA in 18 starts last season with the Los Angeles Angels. Since making his major league debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2015, he is 31-29 with a 4.10 ERA. MLB – Cubs add to bullpen, agree to deal with Boxberger The Chicago Cubs have added bullpen help and agreed to a $2.8 million, one-year contract with veteran right-hander Brad Boxberger. The 34-year-old Boxberger was 4-3 with a 2.95 ERA and one save over 70 appearances and 64 innings with Milwaukee last season. An All-Star with Tampa Bay in 2015, he is 31-37 with a 3.44 ERA in 11 seasons with San Diego, the Rays, Arizona, Kansas City, Miami and the Brewers. Chicago relievers had a 4.12 ERA last season. The same goes for Argentina after more than 30 years of disappointment since it last won soccer's ultimate prize. For Messi victory against France at Lusail Stadium on Sunday is a chance to finally get his hands on the one major trophy that has eluded him in his storied career. In doing so he would push ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo who has also never won a World Cup in the long-running rivalry between the two greatest players of their generation. FIFA – France struck by cold virus ahead of World Cup final A cold virus has run through the France squad though coach Didier Deschamps expects all his players to be healthy for the World Cup final against Argentina on Sunday. Defender Dayot Upamecano and midfielder Adrien Rabiot were isolated this week and rested for the 2-0 win over Morocco in the semifinals. Deschamps says “it's flu season now, and in that sense, we have to be careful.” The coach says the players’ immune systems are run down by the physical toll of World Cup games. He says air conditioning that’s routine in Qatar and at stadiums could also be having an effect. Chronic pain is one of the leading causes of long-term disability in the world. And it's generally known that the power of medicine to relieve pain remains sadly inadequate. Dealing with chronic pain can wear a person down. Oftentimes, people also experience frustration and mental health issues because of the pain. People who suffer from chronic pain are three times more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety, and are twice as likely to be at risk for suicide. Pain can affect all aspects of someone's life. Daniel Clauw has said in a 2019 lecture, there isn't “any drug in any chronic-pain state that works in better than one out of three people.” He went on to say that nonpharmacological therapy should instead be “front and center in managing chronic pain — rather than opioids, or for that matter, any of our drugs.” Our approach with chronic pain is mostly medications, specifically opioids. However, chronic pain patients require a multifactorial approach, but unfortunately, our approach is not necessarily multifactorial. Join us, as we talk with Dr. Lishanna Emmert about acupuncture as a treatment modality to help with chronic pain. You can find Dr. Emmert at Solis.care.

The NCAA is now considering action against teams that a blatantly breaking the rules and setting standards for NIL moving forward. But is now the time to do it? NCAA President Mark Emmert announced he was stepping down. Under the leadership of Emmert, the NCAA in our opinion and that of many others has been a complete joke! Should the NCAA wait for a new President to take action or should it reign in what is currently out of control?  Nebraska gets slapped on the hand by the NCAA. Really? We have players getting million-dollar deals and fancy cars and it seems more concerned with giving Scott Frost a one-year show cause because an analyst did some “coaching”? The absurdity is frustrating and comical at the same time. Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice also talk about the recent transfer portal addition for the Huskers. There is a lot of hype, but can the players live up to it?  Really, only time will tell. We drink a couple of different beers in this edition. Some from South Dakota and some from Wisconsin. Things discussed: Hunter Dickinson: This is why NIL is good for the game. In college he's the cornerstone of a very good team, a heel, and a constant presence; no NBA fans are going "Ah man, I hope my team drafts you." Illinois is falling apart: nobody wants to play for Brad Underwood. NCAA vs NIL: They're going to lose—their latest fig leaf just got blown up by Mississippi and Tennessee. Emmert firing isn't going to change this. They serve the presidents who serve the donors. Opportunity here for the players to unionize and fill the power void. The future is contracts whether they want it or not, because the schools are parties who want services, and are hunting for someone to make a deal with because the NCAA can't protect them anymore. Players unionizing? Transfer portal shopping: Shannon seems like an NIL duel with Texas Tech, who wants to keep him. Portal problem for Michigan is transferring credits, because they have a matching system where the classes you took have to match classes offered at Michigan, and the people who could change that are, by design, siloed from people who want to make that change for sports reasons. Where Michigan is on NIL versus where they should be are miles apart. NCAA has imbalances that have grown up from years. Stop caring who's advantaged; no matter what changes you make to a system there will be a change in advantage. What matters is what's moral—what's right for the game and for its participants. Example: small schools like playing over-agers and Michigan doesn't like it because our players out of high school are better than theirs. But it's good for the players and good for college hockey and good for people getting an education and participating in college sports who aren't going to be pros, which matters more than Michigan's traditionalist needs. Mel: does he have a job? When are they going to say something? Lions/Hutchinson. Seth says the Lions can't take Aidan Hutchinson because he is a winner and the Lions are losers. All me to explain, off-air: The Lions are the only franchise in professional sports that knows how to make losing fun.

NCAA President Mark Emmert says he's stepping down some time in the next year and the liberal sports media are all speaking in unison celebrating and laughing at his tenure.  But why?  These reporters got everything they wanted to take down college athletics.... and more... during Emmert's tenure.    Royals left Daniel Lynch now has 12 straight scoreless innings and is showing signs he may be the best of their draft crop of pitchers.  But it's early.    Paint thinner was found in the water cooler of the opposing baseball team at an NAIA game at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas this week and police are investigating.    Former Fox anchor Chris Wallace is in the running for dumbest comment on the year as the multi millionaire that bolted for CNN+ now says he's a victim.  I'll give you the truth.    And Hunter Biden's emails just keep getting better as now it's learned he calls Bill Clinton horrible names and makes fun of how bad he looks.  How long can the Bidens hold off the swamp?
