A big game deserves a big podcast, so this week's show is a little more supersized than usual. We apologize for nothing, because hey, no extra charge for you. (Not that we charge.)Ohio State went on the road for its second Top 5 matchup away from home this season and this one went better than the last one. The Buckeyes made nearly the same amount of mistakes at Penn State as they did at Oregon, but this time they came away with a win by a touchdown instead of a one-point loss. Many (including us) thought this might be Penn State's year to get a win in the series, but the Buckeyes got some key stops from the defense and a massive game-ending drive to grind out the final five minutes of the clock. We break down all of the key moments of the game, check back on our picks to click, and see how our score predictions turned out (spoiler alert: we're happy to say, the latter went poorly). After we wrap up our Penn State game discussion, we turn our attention to the other scores from around the Big Ten. Michigan lost again and remain short of bowl eligibility. Indiana finally trailed but ultimately destroyed the Spartans. Nebraska lost at home to UCLA to remain bowl ineligible. Purdue took Northwestern to overtime but then didn't do anything else after that. Oh, and Wisconsin is bad again. Finally, we looked ahead to Purdue's visit to the Horseshoe on Saturday. We look at which Boilermakers the Buckeyes will need to watch for, make our “picks to click” selections, and try again to predict the final score of the game.We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show.Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.As always, thanks for listening!0:21 - The Buckeyes started poorly but finished well in a 20-13 road victory over Penn State in Happy Valley.46:02 - A look around all the other Big Ten games from the weekend that was.54:44 - The Buckeyes host a struggling Purdue Boilermakers squad. Will they sleepwalk through another noon game or take care of business?
Joe expects Drew Allar to play for Penn State against Ohio State at Beaver Stadium. Penn State might be missing star pass rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton with an injury. He doesn't think it's a big deal that the matchup Saturday is being played at noon.
We got the Ohio State offensive line answers we were looking for, but that doesn't mean they are the ones we wanted. The Buckeyes looked terrible up front without Josh Simmons and struggled offensively in a 21-17 home win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. A few big plays wallpapered over a poor day running the football and Chip Kelly's worst playcalling of the season. The Huskers played hard and it was almost enough, as the Buckeyes did not play like the angry team Ryan Day promised would take the field on Saturday. We break down the game, discuss all the key talking points, check our score predictions, and see if the Buckeyes we picked to click did just that. After our Nebraska rewind, we looked at the other games around the Big Ten. Oregon continues to roll, and the Wolverines and Spartans continue to save their worst moments for when they're off the field. Oh, and Indiana won again. Finally, we looked ahead to Ohio State's trip to face the Penn State Nittany Lions in Happy Valley. After what we saw on Saturday, we're not feeling great about the Buckeyes, but perhaps they were just exhibiting their usual sleepy post-bye-week play or nearly fell victim to a trap game. Or maybe they're just not good. One thing is certain: Penn State's defense is less forgiving than Nebraska's, so the offensive line must find some answers. We provide our score predictions and choose the Buckeyes we think could have big games on Saturday. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions via email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show.Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.As always, thanks for listening!0:21 - The Buckeyes did not look great in Saturday's win over Nebraska, nor did they respond like the angry team Ryan Day promised. We discuss.38:22 - A walk through the weekend's other scores from around the Big Ten.51:56 - The Buckeyes travel to Happy Valley to take on Penn State's formidable defense. But who will be under center for the Nittany Lions?
Penn State doesn't have an excuse missing the College Football Playoff this season. The schedule is favorable for Penn State. Drew Allar is the key for Penn State and his relationship with Andy Kotelnicki has been solid, but it will be fascinating to see how Allar plays when Kotelnicki's offense is focused around a mobile quarterback.
Episode 44: Recorded June 5, 2024 "People have jumped to the [conclusion] that, because tracks are closed in the United States, there's no more Greyhounds..." Debra Hardman, of GALT-Arizona, describing the state of affairs for Greyhound adoption applications Show Notes Former racing Greyhounds are still available to adopt in the United States. However, those Greyhounds will likely be sourced from outside the United States. Adoption organizations that partner with groups like Greyhound Racing Ireland / the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust, Greyhound Racing New South Wales (GRNSW) and Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) have effectively resuscitated their programs. These organizations' leaders, including Bob Koch of Nittany Greyhounds and Debra Hardman of GALT-Arizona, are navigating the ins and outs of rehoming these overseas hounds. Bob's adoption group in central Pennsylvania serves adopters regionally -- basically the mid-Atlantic and Midwest. At any given time, he has about 50 approved adoption applications. Nittany works with two organizations in Australia -- and GRV and GRNSW -- but they started international rehoming with Irish racing Greyhounds. According to Bob, the Greyhounds handle the long travel very well and share the same temperament as American racing Greyhounds. Debra's experience in the American Southwest is very similar to that of Bob's organization. GALT-Arizona -- a chapter of the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) -- serves Arizona and surrounding states. Her Australian Greyhounds come directly into LAX for pickup, and she describes the hounds as happy as ever as they finish their long journeys after transport. In this episode, host John Parker talks with Bob and Debra about these and other experiences rehoming international Greyhounds with American adopters. They discuss the logistics of bringing the Greyhounds into various ports of entry, the paperwork involved and the care given to the hounds as they make their way around the world. Bob and Debra also share a bit about each of their organizations and how they're adapting to this new source of Greyhounds while also maintaining high welfare and breed support standards. I love the ridges and valleys of Central Pennsylvania! This episode is all about one of those valleys: Nittany Valley, which runs northeast from Bellefonte up toward Lock Haven. It's a long groove, filled brim to brim with farms, little towns like Zion, and Hublersburg, and Mingoville, It's also home to Blonde Bistro Brew Works, the Hublersburg Inn, Goot Essa cheese makers, and Mark's Custom Meats, a custom butcher. I visited three of these places, and got an interview with Goot Essa's John Esh, his first podcast interview, and my first Amish interview. I've got information for you on three area Oktoberfest celebrations, and one uniquely central Pennsylvania celebration, Goose Day in the Juniata Valley. Goose Day is like nothing else, and I'm going to get into it this year. Join me! In two weeks...okay, now it's time for the coffee story! Then Cathy and I will be driving out to Colorado to visit family. We'll be gone for two weeks, but I'll have an episode up for you, a special whiskey interview I've got scheduled in Denver. In episode 193 of the WCIA 3-in-1 Podcast, Andy Olson and Bret Beherns talk the Illini's 30-13 loss to No. 7 Penn State. They go over the five Illini turnovers that led to the Nittany Lions win, plus evaluate where the Illini are three games into the season.
There's always so much news to get to as the season's about to start. With so much to discuss, we started this week's show with the bad news first. Two Buckeyes will not see the field in 2023 — tight end Bennett Christian, because of testing positive for a banned substance, and linebacker Kourt Williams II, with torn ACL. We wish both players the best of luck in getting back on the field. In better news, Ohio State named its 2023 captains, and we couldn't be more pleased with the choices. We discussed why Cade Stover, Tommy Eichenberg, and Xavier Johnson were the perfect choices and why it's good to put the rotating captain nonsense in the rearview mirror.Johnson also earned the right to wear the Block O jersey this upcoming season, and that was also the perfect choice. The only thing that might be more appropriate is if they let him wear an X on his jersey. There was a slew of new black stripe removals, including several freshman receivers. Brian Hartline just keeps getting standout talent. As an aside, we discuss OSU commit Air Noland's first game of the season in a big early-season matchup and Michael gives an unscientific scouting report. Finally, we made our predictions for how the Big Ten East will shake out by the end of the 2023 season. While we were in lockstep a week ago with our B1G West picks, there were multiple variations this week that should make things interesting as we watch how the season unfolds. Ohio State fans will be rooting for Chip to be more correct than Michael on this one. We'll be here with you every week from now until the end of the 2023 Ohio State football season. We'd love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email.Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.As always, thanks for listening! This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/2626049/advertisement
Your dog has trillions of cells, each one containing DNA with about 19,000 genes. Every day, cells die and are replaced by new ones after copying their genetic material… and sometimes those copies include mistakes. Charlotte Hacker has a deep love of genetics, and explains the basics of how genetics work and how mutations can occur. Not all of these mistakes are harmful, but a mutation in the wrong spot or a buildup of multiple mutations can lead to cancer. Listen now to learn about proto-oncogenes, tumor suppressor genes, why bigger dogs are more likely to get cancer, and how you can help support the health of your dog's DNA. Plastic was a wonder material. It makes our lives easier, and can be produced synthetically without depleting natural resources like elephants or camphor trees. But some of the very qualities that make plastic amazing also make it potentially harmful. Dr. Charlotte Hacker, PhD is a wildlife biologist who researched the connection between plastic and cancer for an article on DogCancer.com. In this episode she talks about several of the harmful chemicals that can be in plastic or produced during the manufacturing of plastic products. She also explains what we currently know about how different chemicals can impact the endocrine system in your dog's body and the environment at large. But don't panic. Even though it is pretty much impossible to completely avoid plastic, there are easy strategies you can take to minimize potentially harmful plastic exposure for your dog. Today we sat down with Dr Cymbor and Marketing Manager Rachel from Nittany Eye Associates. They have been a staple for eye care here in the Center Region for a Quarter Century! It's easy to tell in this conversation that, without a doubt, have a “patient first” mentality. You'll also learn that they are FAR more than just eye exams with specialties ranging from Dry Eye Treatment, Glaucoma treatment, Vision Therapy and of course Laser Eye Surgery. They helped me with some of my silly “lasik surgery” fears, and Dr Cymbor promised not to cut my nose off with the laser if I flinch. Whew! They also offer free consultations for Laser Surgery to see if you're a good candidate! We discuss that as well as the multiple insurance options and payment plans they offer! All jokes aside, they've also started The Fred H Carlin Community Vision Foundation was formed to provide quality vision services to underserved populations within the Central PA region through collaboration with local optometrist and volunteer organizations. As you will hear in the interview, she talks “to me” not “at me” and really makes you feel comfortable. They pride their business on “full body, well being” not just a “quick fix and best of luck” attitude. Dr. Molly really knows her stuff as you will hear and has an amazing “patient first” mentality which really comes across. They have multiple options to find the best treatment for whatever your situation from head to toe, and as you'll hear... they have the care and big hearts to do so.I've been scared of ALL Doctors my whole life, but Dr. Molly and her staff really made it an amazing experience!

Today's episode of Felony Friday with Lyn Ulbricht was co-produced by Lions of Liberty Pride member Tyler Colford. At Lions of Liberty we invite our Nittany and above Lions Pride members to assist with producing an episode of one of our shows. You can hear more about Tyler below. Lyn Ulbricht returns to Felony Friday for a second time. She was previously on the show back on episode 137. Lyn is a warrior for criminal justice reform and of course she advocates fiercely for the release of her son Ross Ulbricht. Ross was the creator of Silk Road and is serving a life sentence for the non-violent crime of creating a website. Silk road was a place where individuals could freely buy and sell goods using bitcoin. The site did not allow child pornography or stolen goods to be sold and was mostly used for marijuana transactions. The trial was filled with prosecutorial corruption and suppression of evidence. The judge in the case, who is no longer on the bench, gave Ross an incredibly harsh sentence that had no precedence. In this episode we talk about how faith has helped Lyn and Ross to navigate this crisis is their lives. And how Ross has been able to find peace, while incarcerated, through gratitude and by forgiving those those who served him with immense injustice. Please visit FreeRoss.org to sign the petition and to donate to his legal defense. Tyler Colford's, aka Krypto Man, song #FreeRoss which is played during the episode after Lyn's interview is available on Spotify and for purchase on Amazon at this link. Visit Tyler's website.
