The burning question of today's episode of Locked On Stars is are the Dallas Stars frauds?? The Stars are off to a phenomenal start this season, heading into the All-Star Break they have 66 points through 49 games and find themselves fifth in the NHL. They have the 3rd best offense scoring 6.68 goals per game and flex that in the majority of their wins this season, but their are underlying issues. The Stars are one of three teams ranked in the top 10 in points this season, out of the top 10 in goals against per game and save percentage, usually categories Stanley Cup teams are very good in. Jake Oettinger has certainly not played his best hockey and if finds his rhythm the Stars will be very dangerous. Joey explains his reasoning behind the question and why might some people lean one side of the aisle versus the other. What is your answer to the question? The conversation then switches to the dominance of Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley. Harley has 12 goals this season after two on Saturday including his 3rd OT winner of the season, and Heiskanen has three points in his first two games back from injury. Joey then seaways into his thoughts on the Capitals game and once again how the Stars struggle to close out teams. This time surrendering two goals with under 5 minutes to push the game to overtime. The final segment revolves around Logan Stankoven of the Texas Stars. He becomes the first player in the NHL season to hit 50 points. He's on a four game point streak with four goals in his last five games including an OT winner. He will head to the AHL All-Star game along fellow teammates Mavrik Bourque and Matej Blumel.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

AHL teams generally excel in engaging their communities, but the Syracuse Crunch lately has been truly teaching a Master Class in theming. In this episode, Alex discuses the two most recent theme nights put on by Syracuse, their first-ever Wizarding Night and their throwback 90s Night. She expounds on why these nights are so smart for minor league teams to put effort into and talks about her personal enjoyment of such evenings. Alex also recaps Syracuse's most recent efforts on the ice before previewing their upcoming weeks, a period that will see Syracuse right up to the AHL All-Star weekend.
Locked On Canadiens - Daily Podcast on the Montreal Canadiens
Inside today's Locked on CanadiensAnother great showing from Samuel Montembeault on Saturday night led to only a single point for the Habs as the Edmonton Oilers snagged an overtime win at the Bell Centre. Despite a strong showing on the defensive side of the puck, the Habs managed just one goal off the stick of Cole Caufield on the power play. The game is most notable though for the NHL debut of top prospect Joshua Roy, who was recalled from the AHL on Friday night. With Josh Anderson hurt, Roy appears here to stay for a bit, and should feature heavily on Monday against Colorado. Then, as we always do on Monday...It's Three Up, Three Down!In the down section, Josh Anderson makes a return after struggling to make an impact in games where the Montreal Canadiens absolutely needed him to, before eventually landing on the injured list once more. Scott also takes a moment to discuss some of the further fall-out and behavior around the Cutter Gauthier trade, and why the response seems to further justify his decision to ask for a trade. There's also a rare FOUR UP week, because there's so much good to cover in Montreal, despite the recent losses.First up is the Laval Rocket, and namely their AHL All-Star in Logan Mailloux. It was mentioned earlier in the week, but Scott wants to go over his progression from the start of the season and how he's on exactly the path you want to see in a league for development. He's been helped out a lot by the emergence of the veterans on the team like Philippe Maillet, Lias Andersson and even fellow prospects like William Trudeau. Scott breaks down his best from the Rocket in the last week. The prospects are in focus in a big way for the Habs fandom this week, as Owen Beck's trade to Saginaw seems to have re-invigorated his game to the tune of nine points in three games for the Spirit. What has brought his game back in such a big way, well playing on a super team helps, but Beck himself also deserves a ton of praise. Finally, some praise for some unsung heroes on the Montreal Canadiens as a whole, in particular Samuel Montembeault and Jake Evans who were handling the hardest work against the Edmonton Oilers and coming out looking about as good as someone could in a loss.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!eBay MotorsFor parts that fit, head to eBay Motors and look for the green check. After scoring two goals on two shots in the first period the Habs seemed to be content to take the rest of the night off as they once again squandered a multi-goal lead. Scott and Laura recap what went right, and what went wrong for the Habs in their shootout loss, and what it means heading into a game against San Jose.Speaking of the Sharks, they've lost 12 straight games and are currently one of the worst teams in the NHL...There's no way the Habs lose to them right? Scott is worried the Habs are going to trip over themselves in a game that should be a must-win on the schedule. Both hosts also debate what they want out of this game, namely that they both want to see the Habs win, and win in decisive fashion ahead of a tough showdown with the Oilers over the weekend. Finally, there was a ton of news out of the AHL on Wednesday and Scott does his best to give listeners a full rundown!Logan Mailloux is an AHL All-Star which is a huge honour for the rookie, both hosts also agree that maybe Joshua Roy and Brandon Gignac who lead the team in scoring also should have been given a nod as well. Also, the Rocket are injured and injured badly as four regular players are set to miss at least two months of game time with various injuries suffered in the last week or so of games. A trade to help bolster the Laval Rocket is no longer really a wish for many people, it's a reality to help keep their dim playoff hopes going.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Jase MedicalEmpower yourself when you purchase a Jase Case, providing you with a personal supply of 5 antibiotics that treat 50+ infections. Was the water main break a blessing in disguise for the San Diego Gulls? JD Hernandez is back with "Gulls Thursday" to first talk about Olen Zellweger being named to the AHL All-Star team and why he is deserving of the prestigious honor. Also, the Gulls' long break provided them fresher legs in a huge victory against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. Finally, JD goes over the rest of the All-Stars, and who got snubbed in the Pacific Division... and how it could all be fixed. Jack Ahcan was able to participate in the AHL All-Star weekend this past season when he had 36 points in 68 games playing for the Providence Bruins, the top minor league team of the Boston Bruins. On this episode of the Huskies Hockey Insider podcast, he talks about several of the close relationships he's developed over the years with former teammates like Brock Boeser, Will Borgen and Nick Perbix and also the relationship he's developed with Providence teammate/roommate Nick Wolff. As always, Ahcan also talks some fishing. He discusses what it was like watching his brother, Grant, play forward for the Huskies this season, what it was like playing for Bob Motzko (2016-18) and Brett Larson (2018-20) at St. Cloud State and more with The Rink Live's Mick Hatten.
Episode 209 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented by The Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features standout American Hockey League rookie pro Brandon Bussi of the Providence (and Boston) Bruins. In the feature interview, presented by Sense Arena, Bussi walks us through a path to pro that featured more twists and turns than most, sharing openly how he matured and evolved through each step in junior and college before turning pro at the end of last season. Bussi also talks about his evolution as an AHL All Star as a rookie this season (18-4-4 with a .926 save percentage that ranks second in the league) and how he's incorporated new tools over the years, including the Panda as a 6-foot-5 goalie, and why going back to goalie coach at Stop-It Goaltending in the summers still has value even as a professional goalie now.All that, plus a trip to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a history lesson on the origins and evolution of the 580-break glove, including some historical notes from the Lefevre family.
Jake Christiansen joins the newest Monsters-Eye View episode hot off his AHL All Star appearance! Tune in to hear about his whirlwind weekend, his favorite things about Cleveland and how he's been growing his game on the ice these last few years.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The San Diego Gulls finished the unofficial first half of the season with a pair of games at Coachella Valley where JD Hernandez had a front-row view of Lukas Dostal trying to stop the top team in the AHL. The Firebirds pulled out a last-minute victory in game one, and game two was a slaughter. Dostal then flew out to Laval where he displayed his best stuff at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic. He was named co-MVP of the All-Star Game, and finally got some much deserved accolades.Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. On this episode of The Hockey News On The 'A' Podcast with Jacob Stoller and Patrick Williams: - Patrick discusses his experience covering the AHL All-Star Classic in Laval last weekend. He sheds light on league president Scott Howson's first state of the union, the electric crowd in Laval and the "first-class event" itself. - Jacob suggests how to enhance the All-Star Game, as he and Patrick pondered the merits of a top prospects game in the AHL. — The Montreal Canadians are our team of the week. Jacob and Patrick looked at some of the notable names with the Laval Rocket this year. Jesse Ylonen, one of the players mentioned, was recalled by Montreal today. — The prospect of the week is the Calgary Wranglers' Dustin Wolf. The 21-year-old netminder has a .928 SP this year (second among goalies that have played at least 15 games played). Should the Flames call him up?

In this episode, recorded February 5th, 2023, Alex welcomes AHL content creator Patrick Williams back to the podcast. At the time of recording, Patrick was fresh off a visit to Syracuse and on the road to the AHL All-Star weekend in Laval. Given this unique opportunity to get a fresh perspective of the team's performance, Alex and Patrick start off with dissecting Syracuse's performance in two games vs. the Charlotte Checkers. The two then turn to talking about the current focus in the league, the AHL All-Star weekend. They discuss Syracuse's three All-stars - forward and captain Gabriel Dumont, forward Alex Barre-Boulet, and defenseman Darren Raddysh - and the shift in the event from a prospect-focus to a more well-rounded focus when it comes to picking players who attend. Alex brings the focus to the AHL Hall of Fame, which inducts people during the event, and quizzes Patrick on who he thinks might be selected from Syracuse's history some day. Although Alex was thinking along the lines of Mike Angelidis or Mike McKenna, Patrick surprises her with a convincing argument for team owner Howard Dolgon. The two end the podcast with a look at Hall of Fame inductee David Andrews, a man who "created a league that works for everybody" during his tenure as President of the AHL. Syracuse Speaks is hosted on Anchor, but is distributed to many of the major podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Audible, Google Podcasts, Breaker, Overcast, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, Spotify, and Stitcher. In this episode, recorded November 28th, 2021, Alex welcomes back TheAHL.com contributor Patrick Williams. Patrick has been covering the AHL for many years, and took an in-depth look into Syracuse's slow start last week. Since that article was written, Syracuse went 1-2-0-0, bringing their record for the 2021-22 season to a frustrating 6-8-2-1. Patrick and Alex begin their discussion with Syracuse head coach Ben Groulx and how he is currently feeling about the team's start. They then discuss the North Division and how much it seems to have changed from previous seasons, especially when it comes to the Rochester Americans and the newly-revamped Utica Comets, two teams Syracuse plays the most out of the entire league. The two then discuss Syracuse's veterans and how much the team is currently leaning on them for production, especially the captain, Gabriel Dumont. Of course, even those strong performances don't seem to be helping, and Patrick expresses how much of a puzzle this season has been. Patrick and Alex then discuss the unfortunate injury to goalie Max Lagace, and how that has affected the team's game plan for the season. They also discuss the recent successes of Gabriel Fortier and Jimmy Huntington, and how the talent they were drafted for is starting to shine through. In a way-too-early prediction (blame Alex completely for this), Patrick selects Huntington as his All-Star for the Crunch for this January's AHL All-Star weekend. As far as some perspective goes, Patrick has some good news for Crunch fans who are worried about the season. "I'd say the bright side for the Crunch is having Ben behind the bench. He's always got something cooking, always got something up his sleeve...there are some real bright spots beyond the vets that are figuring it out, too"

Enjoy this segment great story about his NHL career.
Originally aired on WGBB's SPORTSTALK1240 on 02.12.2007. SPORTSTALK1240 hosts Rob Kowal and Steve Ukeiley talk with New York Rangers prospect and first year pro Ryan Callahan about the adjustment of playing for Guelph in the Ontario Hockey League, to playing for the Hartford WolfPack in the American Hockey League (AHL), discussing the differences and the things he did to prepare himself for the tougher competition. Ryan talks about rooming with Dan Girardi in Hartford prior to his call up to the Rangers and how the coaches and veteran players in Hartford have helped him adjust to playing in the league. Ryan also talks about putting on the Rangers sweater for the first time and how special it was to make his National Hockey League (NHL) debut in Buffalo, given that he is a native of nearby Rochester. Ryan also discussed the things he feels he needs to work on to be successful, and how he can help the Rangers night now. Ryan talked about what he hopes to do in Hartford for the remainder of the season, and about scoring the winning goal in the AHL All-Star game. About Ryan Callahan Ryan Callahan epitomized the elements coaches hope to instill in players. Grit. Determination. Heart. Sacrifice. Leadership. The forward poured all of himself, and those qualities, into the game. He standed out, not necessarily for his statistics, but for how he played. A fourth-round pick (No. 127) of the New York Rangers in the 2004 NHL Draft, Callahan made his mark in ways that often go unnoticed from the stands but earn him plenty of praise from the bench. The native of Rochester, NY knew only one way to play, and that's all-out on every shift. Whether Callahan was laying a big hit on an opponent off a strong forecheck, blocking a shot or taking punishment in front of the net trying to create a screen, he was often cited as example on how to do things right. During the 2015 postseason, Callahan underwent an emergency appendectomy the night before Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Second Round against the Montreal Canadiens but was back in the lineup five days later for the start of the conference final against the Rangers. Setting that type of gritty example has earned him a reputation as one of the top leaders in the game. Entering 2009-10, his third full season, he was named an alternate captain by the Rangers. Two seasons later, he was named the 26th captain in Rangers history and the first New York-born player to serve that role. Callahan remained the Rangers captain until March 5, 2014, when he was traded to Tampa Bay in a captain-for-captain swap for Martin St. Louis. Callahan was in the final year of his contract, but instead of testing the free agent market, he opted to remain with the Lightning. He signed a six-year contract extension days before free agency opened. A two-time U.S. Olympian who won a silver medal at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, Callahan has served as alternate captain for Tampa Bay.
On this episode, recorded August 10, 2020, Alexandra takes a figurative spin around the news surrounding the AHL, it's potential return for the 2020-21 season, and what specifically that return might look like in Syracuse. She attempts to bring some certainty to the following questions: Why is it too soon to assume the AHL will actually start on December 4th, 2020? What obstacles are potentially in the way of the league opening? What's going on with the 2021 AHL All-Star event? How does she feel about a potential scheduling shift in future AHL seasons? What might things look like in Syracuse when/if the AHL returns? What kind of player is (hopefully) on the Tampa Bay Lightning's shopping list for the Crunch this upcoming season? What is going on with: Dominik Masin? Cory Conacher? Daniel Walcott? The royalty-free music featured in this episode was by Purple Planet Music and Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com). My special guest today is from one of my favourite towns on the planet, Antigonish Nova Scotia. Known for it’s hospitality, the Highland Games, and St. F X University, the Antigonish area has also produced some amazing athletes. In my opinion, he took on the hardest position in all of team sports, a hockey enforcer. His career has seen him play for fourteen professional teams, he was an AHL All-Star, led the league in penalty minutes multiple times is the most penalised player in professional hockey history and fought the toughest players to ever put on a pair skates. Like most enforcers, he was also a fan favourite who was always well respected and admired by his teammates. It’s my pleasure to welcome to ATP Hockey Talks, my friend, Dennis Bonvie.
