Ich bin mit großer Skepsis in die das All Star Weekend 2025 reinggegangen,
Everyone is pissed about how NBA All-Star Weekend went. Mac McClung made White History, Wemby, and Chris Paul made a mockery of the Skills Challenge, and the actual game had fans and NBA players upset. How can this be fixed? More importantly, where did things go wrong? Also, did Mike listen to the new PartyNextDoor and Drake album? Bang didn't do it so somebody had to.
4 Nations Face-Off has been a huge success for the NHL. Can hockey continue to find replacements for its All-Star game? From Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama's elimination from the Skills Challenge for cutting corners to an Dunk Contest 3-peat by a non-NBA player to a revamped All-Star Game format, NBA All-Star weekend was a flop. Can it be fixed or should it just be nixed? Suits: LA is coming to NBC. We're talking with the show's biggest stars. We'll go down memory lane ahead of the 45th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice with someone who was in the arena in Lake Placid that day in 1980. And, the Albany FireWolves are hosting a Women in Sports Panel ahead of Saturday's home game.
Shea and Jason break down all the highs and lows of All-Star Weekend, saluting 6'2” Magic guard Mac McClung for his dunk contest three-peat. Meanwhile, LeBron's a late scratch, Wemby and CP3 try to hack the Skills Challenge, and Draymond Green goes full grudge-mode in the commentary booth. Plus, the guys debate whether the much maligned first-to-40 format has players caring more, and decide that if MVP candidate Nikola Jokic feels that strongly, he should just take the weekend off.Be the first to know about Wondery's newest podcasts, curated recommendations, and more! In hour one, Hoch and Crowder review what has happened during Hoch's days off like Mac McClung winning the Slam Dunk Contest, Herro winning the 3 Point Contest, 4 Nations Tournament exceeding expectations, Chris Paul and Wemby cheating in the Skills Challenge, and Bullygame. Also discusses the NBA All-Star Game and how the NBA doesn't owe their fans anything during All-Star Weekend. Cam Ward and Shedure Sanders have a little rivalry going on and who will be the better NFL career. Also, Hoch and Crowder think Dolphins fans shouldn't get their hopes up of keeping Jevon Holland. Players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the OKC Thunder should represent themselves instead of having an agent. Zach Gelb is experiencing the Artic Blast in New York, also Gelb's takeaway of the NBA All-Star Game and if they've reached an inflection point to its fans. Where will this Heat team be for the rest of the season with this roster? Also, will the Heat actively pursue Kevin Durant at the end of the season? The narrative of Tyler Herro after winning the 3 Point Contest.

The ladies are back from their week off, trying to re-coup and stay cool in this ongoing heat warning called Las Vegas. From the Mirage closing here on the strip, to the “Ear” escapades from the weekend to the #NFL season on the way & #ParisOlympics starting next week, there is SO MUCH to chat about. The ladies first had to address the National Anthem heard around the county, by #IngridAndress at the #MLB HR Derby, yikes. Ingrid is now in rehab, as her “team” report she was drunk during the Anthem. Mo was thrilled for her first #LADodger to win the Derby, and the MLB All-Star also saw the AL take the win, even with a 3-run HR by Ohtani. Speaking of Ohtani, Mo is ready for a trip to #Tokyo to see the Dodgers opening day, Mel can definitely get with that. But this weekend its all about the #WNBA and the #WNBAAllStar weekend in Phoenix. The heat has already turned up as the players/teams arrive in AZ. From #TeamUSA photos to practice on the NEW Mercury Practice Facility & “Taurasi Court” to the participants of the 3pt & Skills Challenge…it is definitely going to be a TIME! The ladies also had to chat about the one and only #USHER popping in courtside to the #LVAces #Sky game. The winners seemed to have a whole time with him in their locker room, and it was not the Aces. But #AjaWilson not only got her wish for his attendance, but she put on a show as only A'ja does & not to mention she SLAYED on the cover of #MarieClaire for the “Queen of the Court”. The WNBA is also looking to booster their media/TV rights that will surely increase pay to the players. Plus #SportsNews #HotTopics #BirdBarbie #NBANews #GirlPower and More! An Irish team of cybersecurity experts has triumphed over Australia, Korea, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), and Singapore to take Gold at the WorldSkills Global Skills Challenge 2024, hosted by WorldSkills Australia. Mark Drinan and Luke Woodside, guided by Dr George O'Mahony of Munster Technological University (MTU), overcame fierce competition from several nations renowned for their cybersecurity expertise. The victory marks the first time an Irish team has triumphed in an official World Skills Competition in Cybersecurity, with Ireland first entering the cybersecurity skill in 2021. Team Ireland is now setting its sights on the upcoming WorldSkills International Cybersecurity Competition (Skill 54) in Lyon this September as part of WorldSkills Team Ireland. The Challenge As part of the Global Skills Challenge, the teams were put into the scenario of a real-world cyber-attack on a fictitious company that was started based on a rogue malicious USB and insider threat. Over three days the teams had to run digital forensics on an infected end-user computer, each team also had to create reports including a technical brief, a timeline of the cyber-attack, a report for the media and a report for the board of directors. This competition was about accurately identifying what happened and providing real-world preventative measures and recommendations. The Team Team Cybersecurity for WorldSkills Ireland consists of Mark Drinan, a recent graduate from the Cybersecurity Masters at MTU and an engineer at IBM, and Luke Woodside, a graduate from TUS (Technological University Shannon) and Managing Director of Woodside Networks. Mark and Luke beat out stiff competition in regional competitions to make the national team. The team was trained and mentored by MTU Cybersecurity Lecturer and WorldSkills Ireland Expert for Cybersecurity Dr George O'Mahony. The team trained on and competed nationally using MTU's Cyber Range, a state-of-the-art cybersecurity platform unique to Ireland. The facility enables simulations of cyber-attacks on virtual organisations, providing invaluable training for students, researchers, and industry professionals without risking real-world damage or outages. Professor Maggie Cusack, President of MTU, said, "MTU's leadership in cybersecurity education, research and innovation, mentorship and training ensures that our graduates and trainees have the skills, capabilities and confidence to succeed at the highest levels in Ireland and globally. On behalf of everyone at MTU, I am delighted to congratulate our Team Ireland members on their extraordinary achievement of winning gold at the WorldSkills cybersecurity challenge." Dr. George O'Mahony - Cybersecurity Lecturer & Researcher at Cyber Skills at MTU and WorldSkills Ireland Expert Skill 54 - Cybersecurity, said, "This win is a great example of the work Ireland's cybersecurity academics and experts are doing in preparing young Irish professionals to compete on the world stage. It highlights the calibre of talent being produced and the strong pipeline of skilled cybersecurity professionals available in Ireland. The win is a great boost to the team and a big step along their training and upskilling journey. The work Mark and Luke have put in has been a testament to their drive and determination." Mark Drinan, Team Ireland, said, "I am incredibly proud to represent my country and bring home a Gold Medal for Ireland. This medal represents Ireland's commitment to investing in high-quality, practical cybersecurity education." Michael Hourihan (MTU) - WorldSkills Ireland Official Delegate - "This win highlights the positive outcomes that result when skills and technological careers are recognised and promoted at national and international levels. Congratulations to our competitors Luke Woodside and Mark Drinan and to our Cyber Security expert George O'Mahony." Ray English (TUD) - WorldSkills Ireland Chair-Technical Delegate - "The Global Skills Challenge held in Melbourne an...

0:00 ... Ross introduction for episode #90, dedicated to Drew Gooden. 0:33 ... Ross live Bet Online commercial read 1:10 ... Bruce's opening comment is on his friend JA Adande, who was named the winner of the 2024 Curt Gowdy Media Award by the Basketball Hall of Fame over the weekend at the All Star Game. He tells a story of JA's interview with Kobe Bryant on ESPN's NBA Coast to Coast during Kobe's final season that featured a very special moment. 3:01 ... World B's opening comment is on a touching moment involving LeBron James and NBA journalist Jeff Zilgitt at All Star Weekend. 4:27 ... Ross's opening comment is on Damian Lillard's successful weekend in Indianapolis which will hopefully jump start Milwaukee's season as we hit the stretch run starting on February 22nd. 6:14 ... The Brooklyn Nets have fired head coach Jacque Vaughn but Bruce feels that general manager Sean Marks is the one who should have been fired. World B understands that the Nets have been in a tailspin but many of their losses came against top shelf teams, so management's expectations might have been really unfair. Ross pointed out that the front office might have thought Ben Simmons was more capable than he appears to be and that Vaughn may have been unfairly blamed for his struggles. 11:12 ... Ross feels that Cam Thomas was an outspoken critic of Vaughn and World B feels like Thomas is a remorseless gunner who should not have as much influence as he may have. 12:25 ... Ross begins the discussion of All Star Weekend with a recap of the Rising Stars Game and the Skills Challenge. 13:23 ... The Dunk Contest was next and Mac McClung impressed everyone with his athleticism and creativity. Bruce was underwhelmed by the rest of the Slam Dunk Contest and would like to see it become a smaller player's (6'5" and under) competition since seeing smaller guys dunk would be more fun. However, everyone agrees that Victor Wembanyama should be allowed to compete as the lone exception if the 6'5" rule is ever implemented. World B points out that the Dunk contest needs bigger names competing. Jaylen Brown was the biggest name this year and everyone was impressed that he chose to compete. 18:54 ... As for the 3 Point Shootout, Damian Lillard won it but it was overshadowed by the "Steph Curry vs Sabrina Ionescu" 3 Point challenge. The guys want Sabrina and Caitlin Clark to be in the Men's 3 point Shootout next year. 21:31 ... Sabrina vs Steph was the highlight of the weekend and the respect between the two was really impressive. 23:33 ... The All Star game itself was a total joke. Since the NBA scrapped Elam Ending this year, they lost the chance for some real excitement as the game devolved into a glorified layup line. Bruce then tells a story he heard from ESPN's Tim Legler about a former teammate who never played much, but kept track of his points in the pregame layup line. Ross and World B agreed the Elam Ending should return. World B was irate about the fact that the players didn't care about the game, so why should the fans? 26:52 ... Damian Lillard was named MVP of the game but everyone agreed that it should have been Tyrese Haliburton. 29:11 ... The guys liked the LED floor and hope to see it again, but not for regular season games. maybe just for All Star weekend and possibly for the in-season tournament games. 29:56 ... Ross and World B discuss whether LeBron James will really want a farewell tour after James was asked about it over the weekend. 31:13 ... Ross and Bruce discuss Jayson Tatum meeting Larry Bird for the first time even though Tatum is in his 7th NBA season with the Celtics. 32:59 ... Ross begins the second half with a discussion of teams the guys expect to peak at the right time. Bruce likes Phoenix. World B wants to see if the Clippers and Timberwolves can do it. Ross feels the Warriors are capable of peaking at the right time. Bruce also feels like Sacramento could very well have a strong "closing kick." 36:33 ... Players to watch? Bruce wants to see Khris Middleton get healthy because Milwaukee become a threat to win the east if he does. World B hopes Julius Randle and OG Anunoby can regain their health so the Knicks can put their best team on the floor and see what happens. World B wants to see Damian Lillard step up too. 39:07 ... Ross wants to see if LeBron James has a burst left as the Lakers struggle to make the postseason field. 41:30 ... Bruce's final thought is on Scot Pollard, the 6'11" former player who needed and received a heart transplant on Friday. 43:06 ... World B's final thought is on the Golden State Warriors and how they're much improved as we approach the stretch run. 45:25 ... Ross teed up a brief discussion on Draymond Green joining TNT's alternate broadcast over the weekend in the wake of his "issues" this season. That discussion segued into some thoughts on how Adam Silver's postgame comments on the court certainly made it appear that he was not happy with how the All Star Game looked to the public. 48:29 ... Ross's final thought is on the "48 Minutes Live" Playback.TV game on Thursday night at 9:00pm ET between the Hornets and the Jazz. 51:00 ... Ross says goodbye ... TRT 51:16

UFC 298 was this past weekend and it was an exciting card from the early prelims to the main event matchup where of course, we saw a changing of the guard in the UFC with Ilia Topuria's knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski. Who will be Ilia's first title defense? Is this loss the beginning of the end for Volkanovski? Tony and Noble answers these questions and breakdown the fight. They also go through the rest of the main card including Robert Whittaker's bounce back victory over Paulo Costa, Merab Dvalishvili's dominance over Henry Cejudo, and Ian Garry's boring win against Geoff Neal. They transition to NBA All Star Weekend and the entertainment, or lack thereof, that was provided. Tony and Noble discuss why the All Star game is boring now and what can be done to improve the product. They also cover the Dunk Contest, Steph vs. Sabrina, 3pt Shooting Contest, and Skills Challenge.
Alex starts off the show recapping Tyrese Haliburton's performance in the All-Star Game and discusses how he was snubbed of the MVP honors as the ball hog Bucks iced him out from putting up more shots. Then, Facci joins for the remainder of the show to recap all that went down during All-Star Weekend before the game. The guys discuss Ivey and Mathurin's renewed rivalry, Oscar getting a poster dunk, Bennedict winning the Rising Stars MVP, Hali, Myles and Benn winning the Skills Challenge, Hali missing the final round of the 3pt contest after the tiebreaker, the idiotic comments from Kenny Smith after the the Steph vs. Sabrina 3pt showcase and so much more!
