In 2010, model Arizona Muse was catapulted into the fashion spotlight. After opening and closing Prada's Spring/Summer 2011 show, she was signed as a face of the brand. But after years of the modelling, grind and some serious personal reflection, the British-American model has swapped the glamour of the runway for environmental activism.“[Modelling] nearly destroyed me. You pretend you enjoy it because everyone wants you to enjoy it. But the truth is, you'd prefer to be doing something else.”This week on The BoF Podcast, BoF founder and editor-in-chief Imran Amed sits down with Muse to discuss her journey to the fashion runway, her reflections on fashion's contribution to the climate crisis and why she sees self-care as a form of environmental activism. Key Insights: While Muse is grateful for modelling career, she said it caused immense strain on her mental health. “It's been a blessing in so many ways, but it also nearly destroyed me. It really nearly destroyed my mental health,” she shares. “What's hard about modelling is people are judging you all the time on what you look like … They don't even judge you on what you wear. It's just purely what you look like.”The model first tapped into her passion for environmental activism after being invited to a charity lunch where she learned that textile materials were grown in soil by farmers. “Working at the centre of this industry, working with all the most amazing fashion houses that we've all heard of, how is nobody talking about the farmers who grew our clothes for us?” she says. She also sees her own self-care as part of her activism. “How can I take the best care of my being so that my being can be in the best shape that it can be, to be in service to the other beings around me who are human, to the other beings around me who are non-human, and to the biggest being of us all who is the earth?”Muse recognises the need for governments to support organisations like DIRT, she also insists there is a level of personal responsibility for those privileged enough to make sustainable choices. “If you're like I am, and you're one of those lucky people who has money in your pocket right now, it is your responsibility to spend it with sustainable businesses who are making things in a more responsible way,” she says. Why Big Brands Are Pushing Back Against Sustainability RegulationsThe Problem with Sustainability DataThe BoF Podcast | Ending Climate Colonialism in Fashion Hosted on Acast. This week we have a special episode, a fireside chat I moderated during our recent Conscious Festival in Singapore with the ever-inspiring Arizona Muse on the topic: fashion as a climate solution.  Arizona Muse, credited as the new face of American fashion nay Vogue, has graced the cover of over 40 international Vogue magazines.  But through the glitz and glam, she has kept her feet on the ground, figuratively and literally—in the  soil—and has found that that has resonated the most.  Her life's mission is to raise awareness about the climate emergency and climate solutions, which lead her found DIRT charity.  She is also an Oceans Ambassador for Greenpeace, Advisory Board Member of The Sustainable Angle, and Advisory Board Member of The Biodynamic Demeter Alliance.  In this conversation, Arizona will tell us all about why regenerating soil is one of the most crucial pieces to saving the world, why fashion can and should be a climate solution and so much more.  It's time to live wide awake.  Stay connected with Arizona: Website: https://www.dirt.charity/ | https://www.arizonamuse.earth/ Social media: https://www.instagram.com/arizona_muse/ Stay connected & support the show Instagram: http://instagram.com/livewideawake  Support: If you enjoyed the show do consider making a contribution so we can keep having conscious conversations - https://www.patreon.com/livewideawake Reach out: hola@stephldickson.com

In this episode of Out of the Clouds, Anne Muhlethaler interviews Scott Wimsett @ScottWimsett, a presenter, a fashion director and sustainability expert based in the UK. Scott started his agency, Bespoke Banter, in 2006 with a vision of supporting global talent and brands to create social assets in film to support their storytelling. Scott built a reputation for being a supportive and trusted partner for many world-renowned talents who work with his company closely to craft the broadcasted film and images they distribute globally. More recently, Scott launched The Feel Good Fellowship with friend, model, and climate activist Arizona Muse. Among all his endeavours, Scott is committed to encouraging brands to prioritise transparency, accuracy, and research in all their digital content to empower audiences to make more sustainable, environmentally positive choices in the brands they support.Much like Anne, Scott loves to entertain good conversations in addition to his content creation work. Scott has hosted a podcast with Royal Ascot on sustainability, and returned with a new show called ‘Personal Threads', with diverse guests from David Gandy to Paul O'Grady and June Sarpong. In this interview, Scott shares with Anne his story, from how he started on stage acting and dancing before going into modelling and PR — but always with a desire pulling him to TV and presenting. An astute expert in his field, Scott talks about his early wins and what helped establish his reputation, and later about the importance of listening carefully to what is coming next, including how that's guided his moves from his start with Bespoke Banter to the projects he is doing now.Scott shares the thought process that drove him to build his own company and why he felt, and still feels, that film (or video) is essential for brands and talent to tell a detailed story. Scott believes that brands can turn to film to create a documentary of sorts — one that transmits their values and history, and that will communicate their DNA to their audience — but that transparency and vulnerability are key.Scott then tells Anne about his experience with Vipassana, which he discovered when a friend signed him up to attend a silent meditation retreat that transformed his life. He goes on to talk about how the combination of being active in addition to meditation and journaling continues to support him daily and explains that his meditation and other personal health rituals are not a hack or a quick add on, but, as he says, a necessity: ‘It's not like it's painted on. It's not like you are making yourself do it. It becomes just part of who we are. It's just how you live your life.'    Happy listening!     ***You can find Scott on Instagram @https://www.instagram.com/scottwimsett/Discover his company Bespoke Banter -  https://www.bespokebanter.com/And the Feel Good Fellowship - https://www.feelgoodfellowship.com/Scott is also an advisor with the Sustainable Beauty Coalition - https://www.instagram.com/sustainablebeautycoalition/The British Beauty Council - https://britishbeautycouncil.com/The first Royal Ascot podcast hosted by Scott called 'A New Era in Style' -https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/royal-ascot-a-new-era-in-style/id1569576018Bay Garnett, stylist and senior fashion ambassador for Oxfam - https://www.baygarnett.com/pressThe Royal Ascot - https://www.ascot.com/royal-ascot-2023The Royal Ascot 'Personal Threads' podcast hosted by Scott Wimsett & Susan Bender - https://shows.acast.com/personal-threadsThe song Faith by George Michael - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cs3Pvmmv0EAnne Glenconner's book 'Lady in Waiting' - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49945845-lady-in-waiting*** f you enjoyed this episode, click subscribe for more, and consider writing a review of the show on Apple Podcasts, we really appreciate your support and feedback. Climate change is happening, and it can feel frightening when we read about it, but in today's conversation Arizona helps us all understand that we have the power to take action and just how we can do it! This week's slice of wellbeing is with activist, model and founder of Dirt charity, Arizona Muse. She's one of the fashion sectors most highly regarded champions for sustainability. DIRT works to regenerate soil by supporting the Biodynamic Farming movement, and has already partnered with brands such as Vrai, Anya Hindmarch and Weleda on projects around the world. Soil isn't really thought of as a particularly interesting or sexy topic, however, you might change your mind after this week's episode of The Live Well Be Well Podcast. Alongside this we cover Arizona's childhood, the moment that sparked her interest in activism, and what biodynamic farming and greenwashing are. After this you'll feel a huge leap into becoming more conscious consumers. A really interesting episode, one not to be missed. All Plants, will help you not only make a positive impact on your health but also the planet! Welcome, you're listening to Le sapping, a French Podcast On Responsible Fashion edited by Thegoodgoods, the first french media dedicated to sustainability.  My name is Victoire Satto and I welcome here the builders of a better fashion industry : ecological and socially engaged, inclusive, diverse and led by positive innovations. This episode is produced in partnership with Première Vision Paris, a major event bringing together twice a year the 6 professions of the global clothing industry. Today, Première Vision highlights solutions for an ecological transition. Thegoodgoods is proud to be an official media partner of the Spring-Summer 2021 edition taking place the 11, 12 and 13 of next February. You will find all the informations on www.premièrevision.com We all have role-models in life, people whose actions are examples, whose thoughts inspire us or words push us daily to become a better version of ourselves. This episode was an opportunity for me to meet one of mine. A person whose beauty of soul is at least equal to appearance, with a honest speech and commitments measurable for years in the fashion industry. Arizona Muse is an international model who has never forgotten to act as a human being. She is an environmental activist and has given herself a mission: raise the awareness of the industry about the climate emergency.  Her approach is well-informed, educational and humble, always. Very quickly, she understood that scientifical facts were the key to convince. She likes to encourage better than to blame. In this sometimes dark and dirty industry, a green coming out was risky.  How did she manage to be heard and not ousted? How does she educate herself on the topic? What has changed in her relationship with brands and clothing? Where would she start if she was CEO of a large brand or a media? How does she get involved with Extinction Rebellion? The 5 keywords of this episode : smart, kindness, optimism, learnings and humanity. A huge thank you to Arizona, and to you for listening to this podcast, ENJOY !
