Bobby Hedglin-Taylor is one of those people that brightens any room. His anecdotes are so incredible that they would be difficult to believe from anyone less humble! Circus, theater, television, books, you name it and Bobby's been involved! While he never name drops it is clear he's been in some of the most incredible places with some amazing people. High on the that list - his mom! Bobby has written an incredible homage to his mother's humor, perspective, and memory called "#ShitMyMamaSays". It's hilarious, and moving, and a bundle of catharsis in one place. Here's what he says about it: A little about me: Bobby Hedglin-Taylor, a circus and aerial designer who has worked on and off Broadway, in summer stock and regional theater as well as rock concerts and cruise ships, has just published his first book! Bobby's book is a tribute to his late mother called #ShitMyMamaSays-a humorous look at life while dealing with dementia. Now available on Amazon. In a recent podcast interview the host called him the "multi-hyphenated artist". Indeed he is! Trapeze artist, actor, dancer, singer, comic are only a few of those hyphens! Now adding author to his extended list! After his mother showed signs of dementia, Bobby had to take on the gut wrenching task of moving his mother into a nursing home. She was a spitfire with a mouth like a truck driver. To deal with the emotion and guilt Bobby took his mom's pithy sayings and shared them on social media. Sharing with the Hashtag #ShitMyMamaSays. This became a humorous way to deal with the stress and connect with others who have traveled the same path. After losing his mother at the beginning of the pandemic and suffering with Covid-19 himself Bobby Hedglin-Taylor began to write and in the 16 months of quarantine wrote two books to memorialize her amazing sense of humor. Bobby hopes that you will enjoy the first installment having his mother coming to life through these quotes and her incredible spirit. #ShitMyMamaSays- A humorous look at life while dealing with dementia. Karaoke is all about singing, right? That should be obvious, but what's a little less obvious is finding your voice. Do you sing like yourself, in your natural voice? Do you try to imitate the original artist? Ed makes the bold claim that he is "the voice of karaoke" (and that isn't about the quality of the singing), and Adam and Ed talk about taking songs originally performed by women, and why that's a great way to expand your karaoke repertoire. In terms of impersonation, Ed goes into trying to sound like the artist, and Adam talks about the Stanislavski method and embodying a character, if not a voice. The trivia challenge is all over the place--it covers sampling, comedy songs, and iconic voices, and that's all inspired by this episode's guest: Bobby Hedglin-Taylor is a standup comedian and impressionist who integrates actual karaoke into his act and can sing in 50 different voices. He talks about that, how he finds the voices he does, and how doing singing impersonations made his own natural singing voice better. In this episode I connected with Bobby Hedglin-Taylor, a multi talented man who shared his life and story with me. He has been extremely active through his life, starting in humble beginnings in a small mountain community to moving to New York to follow his dreams of dancing and performance arts. Early in his life he started as a professional ballroom dancer, then working on Broadway, to becoming a circus aerial artist and now a teacher in this field, while also a stand up comedian! During the later years he became a full time carer for his mother who was dealing with dementia, this was highly impactful to his life, humour was his tool to get through it, he documented the process online via social media to share with others, then put this into a light and easy to read book, letting the humour that helped him shine to others, and as you will hear, his mothers influence on comedy and quick wit prepared him for this journey. We also spoke on his difficulties of sexuality, how it felt to question yourself, how coming out as a homosexual was, and felt like, what helped and didnt help. I related to his experience of caring for his mother as this was a path in my journey and it was beautiful to exchange our individual yet similar journey through it. In a recent podcast interview, the host called him the "multi-hyphenated artist". Indeed he is! Trapeze artist, actor, dancer, singer, comic are only a few of those hyphens! Now adding author to his extended list! After his mother showed signs of dementia, Bobby had to take on the gut-wrenching task of moving his mother into a nursing home. After losing his mother at the beginning of the pandemic and suffering from Covid-19 himself Bobby Hedglin-Taylor began to write and in the 16 months of quarantine wrote two books to memorialize her amazing sense of humor. Bobby hopes that you will enjoy the first installment of having his mother coming to life through these quotes and her incredible spirit. #ShitMyMamaSays- A humorous look at life while dealing with dementia. Bobby Hedglin-Taylor “The multi Hyphenated artist”.  Trapeze artist-actor-dancer-singer- acrobat - impressionist-author- officiant- aerial sequence choreographer- stand up comic - mixologist - teacher - coach.  In Bobby's words: "It was very telling being called the “multi-hyphenated artist”.  I've done so many different creative things with my life and I will always be an artist no matter what medium of art I use or canvas.  If I am using a pen and paper, a stage, a microphone, a trapeze or a  cocktail shaker I am an artist first and foremost.    (See my full bio below)  Not just dabbling in other art forms but successful both artistically and financially in all of those platforms.   I'm comfortable wearing the title.  It suits me. :)  2020 was a painful year for me.     The pandemic began with the governor shutting down visitation to nursing homes and I wasn't able to visit my mother who had been a resident of a local nursing home here for 5 years.  Two days later Broadway shut down and my boss called me and said we're shutting down for 2 weeks.   11 days later, my mother died in the nursing home.   There was no covid test to give the actual cause of death, but with her symptoms leading up to her death, I'm confident in saying that it was not a coincidence when she passed and what I believe she died from.    Losing my mother was huge.  She was my best friend and my hero.  She died on March 21st.   The morning of March 22nd I woke up with a fever of 104, body aches, headache like an anvil sitting on my temple and I couldn't smell or taste anything.   Yes, I had Covid19.  Terrified and isolated, I retreated and took care of myself until I could figure out and navigate a way to get through it.   Fighting for my own life now, in my waking hours that I could focus and function I began to write." The end result:  Bobby is the Author of 2 books- #ShitMyMamaSays (available on Amazon) and  Escape to Ravioli Mountain-a memoir in food (coming this fall). 3 top tips for my audience: 1. Laugh every day no matter what 2. Save 10% or ⅓ of your income always!  3.
