From massive storms to green future vision: Laura and Elizabeth Streb explore South Australia's rapid shift from fossil fuels and the inspiring actions of local festivals and government leaders. This show is made possible thanks our members! To become a sustaining member go to https://LauraFlanders.org/donate Thank you for your continued support!South Australia has become a global leader in green energy transition, getting off fossil fuels faster, and to a greater extent than almost any other country. How did they do it, and what can we learn from them? In this special report, Laura goes Down Under with her partner, Elizabeth Streb, and her extreme dance company, and discovers how the region's culture and its many world-class festivals have helped pave the way for transformation. Helping to unpack it all is a range of impressive guests, including Susan Close, deputy premier of South Australia; Anoté Tong, the former President of the Micronesian island, the Republic of Kiribati; Ruth Mackenzie, former Artistic Director of the Adelaide Festival, now Program Director of Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Policy within the South Australia state government; Rob Brookman, the co-founder of WOMADelaide, the capital's premier outdoor festival; MacArthur “Genius” Award winner, Elizabeth Streb and the action heroes of her company STREB — and a WHALE. As you'll hear, it's taken politics, policy, science and culture to shift public practice in this extreme-weather-vulnerable area. Over the last decade, South Australia has faced massive storms, brush fires, and extreme heat that have put people, wildlife, and even the festival at risk. Now South Australia is leading the way and using art to help people envision a green future, but they can't solve the climate crisis alone. In this Climate Week special, we ask, how can the rest of the world follow suit?“I'd say that WOMADelaide is creating a tiny version of the planet as you would like it to be . . . If you've listened to music from Iraq or if you've listened to music from Vietnam, or if you've listened to music from Palestine and Israel, it's more difficult to say those people, we don't understand them, so we can't deal with who they are.” - Rob Brookman, Director, WOMADelaide Foundation“We don't get exempted from climate change because we've got a green electricity grid . . . It is globally caused and has to be globally solved. So part of what we do is not to boast about what we've done, but to hope that our leadership will show others that you too can do this. Come and learn from us.” - Susan Close, Deputy Premier, South Australia“We've got the arguments, we can tell you the facts, but people don't feel it . . . [Artists] reach into your head, into your heart, they dig in and then they motivate you to action. And of course if you can also motivate the artist in every single child in South Australia, then we really have a force to change the world.” - Ruth Mackenzie, Program Director Arts, Culture & Creative Industries Policy, South Australia Government“For the [Adelaide] festival to go to young people and be like, ‘Hey, we want to hear from you. We want you to be a part of this. What works do you want to see? What works do you want to make and what do you want them to be about?', is something that doesn't happen very often . . . Hopefully it'll mean we can get more people involved.” - Caitlin Moore, Artist, Activist“The science doesn't seem to be making an impact no matter how precise. Maybe the hard facts of science do not ring a bell as much as the emotional language of the arts . . . Maybe the arts can put it in a way that it touches the hearts of your political leadership.” - President Anoté Tong, Former President, Republic of KiribatiGuests:• Rob Brookman: Co-Founder, WOMADelaide; Director, WOMADelaide Foundation• Susan Close: Deputy Premier, South Australia• Cassandre Joseph: STREB Co-Artistic Director & Action Hero• Ruth Mackenzie: Former Artistic Director, Adelaide Festival; Program Director Arts, Culture & Creative Industries Policy, South Australia Government• Caitlin Moore: Director of Create4Adelaide, Adelaide Festival• Elizabeth Streb: STREB Founder, Co-Artistic Director & Choreographer• Anoté Tong: Former President, Republic of Kiribati• Bart Van Peel: Chief Navigating Officer, Captain Boomer Collective Watch the broadcast episode cut for time at our YouTube channel and airing on PBS stations across the country Music Credit: "Steppin" & "Curious Jungle" by Podington Bear. As the Co-Artistic Director of Streb Extreme Action she ziplined across the Park Avenue Armory, scaled the walls of the Bergdorf building and danced on the spokes of the London Eye. Cassandre was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Her investigation in movement began at the age of four with the sport of gymnastics. Over a span of twenty years as a competitive gymnast, she earned several state and regional titles. She graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in English Literature and studied journalism at Temple University's graduate communications program. She joined STREB in 2007 as an instructor and company member. In September 2017, Cassandre Joseph was appointed Associate Artistic Director of STREB Extreme Action, and also oversees SLAM's education program. Cassandre has been the Creative Director of the STREB Kid Company since 2010 for which she has choreographed and self-produced three evening length works: Heroes (2015), Momentum (2016) and Navigation (2017). She is a strong believer in the transformative power of movement and is passionate about empowering young people to push boundaries and expand their notions of what is possible. When she is not seen in a rehearsal, teaching classes or creating action events at SLAM, she can be found training her daughter Nia to be a mini-action hero.

In this episode of How'd You of That, Grandin and Streb illuminate the process of machinery design and how it inspires dreams and brings out skills and innovations. They also share their insights on how to open doors to careers and opportunities. MacArthur “Genius” Award-winner, Elizabeth Streb has dived through glass, allowed a ton of dirt to fall on her head, walked down (the outside of) London's City Hall, and set herself on fire, among other feats of extreme action. Her popular book, STREB: How to Become an Extreme Action Hero (Feminist Press), was made into a hit documentary, Born to Fly directed by Catherine Gund (Aubin Pictures), which premiered at SXSW and received an extended run at The Film Forum in New York City in 2014. Streb founded the STREB Extreme Action Company in 1979. In 2003, she established SLAM, the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. SLAM's garage doors are always open: anyone and everyone can come in, watch rehearsals, take classes, and learn to fly.

Today's interview is with a friend of mine who's been in the fitness industry for 31 years! Rick Streb is multi-talented and has worn many hats over the years. This conversation was riveting for me and the hour just flew by. Rick has a very straightforward style which I think you'll appreciate. Rick explains a simple model to generate 100K in nutrition coaching. He explains the exact funnel he used in his small town to achieve success. I also enjoyed our conversation about marketing. We talked about how we've both used gift cards and authoring a book to gain top-of-mind awareness in our prospect's eyes. Some other points that stood out to me: What we should be doing and not doing Taking ACTION The only 3 ways to make more money Turning obstacles into opportunities Knowing your numbers Enjoy the show and as always, thanks for tuning in! Robert Streb has rarely been at the top of the leader board at the end of a professional golf event, winning twice on the PGA Tour and six times overall in his 13-year professional career. But he's carved out a very handsome living. He also understands, and is willing to discuss, how hard it is to make the PGA Tour and stay there. His two career PGA wins came eight years apart, and he knows that hard work will pay off.

Embracing Your Feminine While Acknowledging Your Masculine Energy and Finding Your Inner ENERGY to Propel with Rebecca Streb Welcome to The Mom Sweat Sanity Podcast. Today, we are talking with Rebecca Streb. Tune in! Episode 08: Show Notes. So many of us are disconnected from our divine feminine energy because we believe that masculine energy is necessary to make it in the world and be successful. But what if we tapped back into our essence of love, openness, and grace? How might we be able to transform ourselves and the world around us? These are some of the profound questions today's guest, Rebecca Streb of Be Naturally Fit, poses in our discussion today. As a women's health coach and personal trainer for the past decade, Rebecca has gone down many fitness avenues. Her online coaching now focuses on a more holistic approach to wellness, underpinned by an emphasis on mindfulness and energy connection. In this episode – after Rebecca introduces herself – we talk about feminine energy and the transformative power that comes with connecting to it. We also discuss her experience of contracting COVID, the long health battle she fought afterwards, and the resulting empathy and self-reflexivity she gained. While this year has no doubt been trying, there are infinite silver linings if we are willing to find them. Along with this, we touch on some of Rebecca's healing protocols, the essence of mindfulness and living mindfully, and how we can all become our own self-healers. Be sure to tune in today!

Buckle in, ya'll. We had an epic conversation! I really appreciated this open and candid conversation with someone who I admire greatly, Dr. Robert Streb. He has over 30 years of experience under his belt and lots of wisdom to share! What I admire the most about Dr. Streb is his practically skeptical and transparent approach he takes to his own learning and his student's learning! I won't spill to much and keep it short. In this episode we cover hot topics surrounding manual therapy, pain science, and everything in between. If you are a practicing clinician (especially new grad) this is a must listen!!!! Please share with someone who you think would benefit from hearing this episode. As always, thanks for listening and if you find value in this show please leave us a review on iTunes!
Kansas State grad and Tour Star Robert Streb comes on Golf Underground He talks about how a good ole' boy from Oklahoma makes it big on the PGA Tour, why he calls Kansas City home, and how he has "owned" his homemade golf swing in order to become a household name out on tour!
Over the course of her fearless career, extreme action specialist Elizabeth Streb has pushed the limits of the human body. She's jumped through broken glass, toppled from great heights and built gizmos to provide a boost along the way. Backed by footage of her work, Streb reflects on her lifelong quest to defy gravity and fly the only way a human can -- by mastering the landing. Hosted on Acast. If you were going to sum up Rick Streb in 5 words, those would be the five to use... And in exactly that order. Rick enjoys his professional life, but it takes a back seat to spend most of his time with his beautiful daughter and friends. He has made it a priority to build his business around his life; not his life around his business. Rick Streb, the creator of ProDiets.com, is an innovator in fitness and nutrition. He has been a respected member of the health and fitness industry for almost three decades. He has established himself as one of the top trainers, nutritionists, and coaches for competitive bodybuilding, fitness and figure athletes in the United States today with zero ever finishing out of the Top 5 in their competitions. Rick's keen understanding of how to customize eating plans and training programs for each client has given him a special standing in the health and fitness community. Rick's clients have included professional athletes, television and music celebrities, bodybuilding competitors, fitness models and beauty pageant contestants throughout the United States who participate in his coaching programs and obtain very successful results. He's also built a tremendously successful boutique training business serving women ages 35-55, helping over 750 ladies look and feel better than they ever thought possible in the past 3 years. Along the way, Rick has developed a variety of proprietary systems to build effective fat loss nutrition into his clients' programs to ensure that he could maximize their results no matter what type of client he is working with at the time. These days Rick has found his true professional calling – sharing what has worked in his own businesses with other fitness entrepreneurs. He coaches and consults with fitness professionals around the world who want to provide the best for their clients by integrating world-class nutrition programming into their businesses, and helps them generate more clients, more profits and more freedom to enjoy life. His program "Nutrition Profit System" has transformed hundreds of fitness professionals' businesses. You could say he is the “trainer of trainers” when it comes to nutrition. In 2007 Rick received the Community Leadership Award from the President's Council on Physical Fitness & Sports for his commitment to his clients and passion for helping improve his community. It is that commitment and passion which distinguishes him from other fitness personalities. Rick is considered to be one of America's leading fitness professionals with 3 fitness-related degrees, a dietetics degree, and over 27 years of experience as a fitness industry leader and numerous fitness and nutrition-related certifications. His online programs “ProDiets.com” and “The Extreme Fat Loss Formula” have transformed thousands of bodies just like yours through his health clubs, personal training, online training, phone coaching, magazine articles, and books.
