"My great-grandfather was a glassblower. He was gone long before my time, but I grew up feeling his presence in my grandmother's house. Hearing this field recording felt like a way back to him, and to something older. Molten glass has always reminded me of primordial earth and creation myths. I built the piece from fragments of the recording, layered with synthesizers. I hope you find something cosmic in here. "Thus created were the islands,Rocks were fastened in the ocean,Pillars of the sky were planted,Fields and forests were created,Checkered stones of many colors,Gleaming in the silver sunlight"— Kalevala, Rune I, translated by John Martin Crawford (1888) St Helen's glassblowing reimagined by Anni Roenkae.

College football is already spiraling into chaos again, and Kevin and Ciarnan are here to break down all of it. This week, the guys dive into the latest offseason drama, including Michigan's costly athletic department investigation, what Matt Campbell's arrival means for Penn State, and what Drew Allar's move to the Pittsburgh Steelers says about James Franklin's quarterback development track record. They also unpack Notre Dame's renewed relationship with the ACC after another playoff controversy, leading to a passionate rant about the Irish refusing to fully join a conference despite constantly benefiting from one. Plus, reactions to Lane Kiffin stirring up SEC discourse once again and the rivalry drama already building for next season. Then the conversation shifts into a full ACC logo history deep dive. From classic map-inspired conference branding to cursed mascots and questionable redesigns, Kevin and Ciarnan debate which ACC logos stand the test of time and which schools completely missed the mark. Wake Forest, Clemson, Notre Dame, and more all end up under the microscope as the hot takes start flying. 00:00 Michigan athletic department scandals 06:47 Coaching quarterbacks' style preferences 11:12 Penn State's future expectations 19:54 ACC vs Notre Dame playoff tensions 23:13 Talking about escalated conflicts 31:20 Archie Manning on Ole Miss changes 35:24 Comparing eagle logo designs 41:27 Choosing the best design option 45:07 Discussing favorite sports logos 50:37 Logo updates and color choices 58:54 Discussing color preferences 01:01:30 Walking away from the conflict

As part of our discussions with Bunbury Runners Club last year during the planning phase for 2026, we agreed to aid the club in sourcing pacers for the marathon which would be a first for the event. From Joel's 150g/hr carbs consumption, Ritto's family discount, Audwin's $60 unofficial marathon, Jake's Imodium obsession, Vici's feet post Herdys and Bryan's love of Yokine Reserve, we get to learn more about our marathon pacers and what draws them to the marathon and what makes them weapons in their own right. Welcome to Episode 4 of The Road to the Checkered Bastard, the WARP training series following the 2026 Bunbury 3 Waters Running Festival. Last episode in our chat with Ian and Megan, you will have heard us reference the second seminar hosted by the Bunbury Runners Club in the lead up to 3 Waters, featuring inspirational runners from within the region talking through their stories and the challenges they have overcome in order to achieve great things in their running endeavours and beyond. First up we have Dennis Deveraux who shares his story of loss loved ones, a near catastrophic injury, and the determination to take on just about any endurance event that you can imagine in the years that followed. Alice Luscombe returns and shares her recent struggles with a tibial stress fracture, but dives deeper into her background with regional sport, a career ending injury and how she now takes her experience at the highest level and helps the next generation of regional water polo athletes. Young Aiden Behan talks about his recent success at the School Sport National Triathlong Championships, but also delves into the challenges that young endurance athletes face, along with the commitment needed from their families and the community around them. Finally Amy Twist, event MC for Bunbury 3 Waters Running Festival tells us how being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as age 3 has not put a limit on her ability to undertake some of the toughest endurance events imaginable, such as the Bali Hope Ultra, all while raising money for charity to support those in greater need. We are proud to bring you these stories that may make you shed a tear, share some joy and ultimately be inspired by the stories you hear today. Extra side note, interesting to see MGM inspired by Angel Studios to go for that series. David was seen as a loser to his family and brothers. What's up Brian?! In this high-octane episode, we mash up two things you didn't know you needed together: Christmas lights and race cars. That's right — the RGB life meets the need for speed, and the ride definitely doesn't go as planned. We talk:
Jeremy Martin pulls off a storybook win at his home track and the boys pretend not to get emotional. We break down the Home Run Derby, argue way too hard about candy rankings (Jesse's taste buds might be broken), and debate what actually makes a house haunted. Plus, we try to build the ultimate sports bar—somehow it ends up with ghosts, cheap beer, and a chili cheese dog fountain. It's spooky, sweet, and slightly unwell. Episode 12 is live.

When the Supreme Court struck down race-conscious affirmative action programs, it conveniently left standing the legacy preferences employed by colleges and universities that are described by some as affirmative action for rich, white people. Is it fair that schools are now forced to ignore the race of their applicants but are still allowed to favor the children of wealthy alumni and donors? Mark and Joe examine the history and impact of legacy admissions policies in American colleges and universities and consider the arguments that there are good reasons for retaining them.
