Episode 299 of Tom Clark's 6M Podcast is a look at Supergirl (2026). Tom Clark and Phil Lindsey break down the second film in DC Studios' new DC Universe, examining Milly Alcock's darker take on Kara Zor-El, the film's adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and how its revenge-driven space adventure differs from the hopeful tone established in Superman. They also discuss the film's long road to the big screen, James Gunn and Peter Safran's creative direction for the new DCU, and behind-the-scenes stories from the production. The conversation covers the performances of Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Jason Momoa, and David Corenswet, along with the movie's mixed critical reception, disappointing box office performance, and what Supergirl could mean for the future of the franchise. Does this emotionally scarred version of Kara Zor-El offer a compelling new direction for the character, or does the film struggle to balance its cosmic adventure with its darker themes? DC Studios is developing a mystery series centered on Mr. Terrific, with Edi Gathegi returning to the role he made a standout in Superman. In this episode of Geek Freaks Headlines, Frank breaks down why this is exactly the kind of move DC should be making, calling Mr. Terrific criminally underutilized and praising Gathegi's on-screen presence, from his intelligence and wisdom to his instantly memorable action moments.Frank also gets into the bigger picture: representation matters, and Mr. Terrific could be a landmark character as an autistic-coded hero whose mind is his greatest strength. Plus, after chatter about Supergirl's struggles, this announcement signals that James Gunn and Peter Safran are sticking to their plan of elevating niche characters instead of playing it safe with the Trinity.

We're celebrating summer by heading to the drive-in! Over the next two weeks, we're bringing you a double bill of blockbuster movies from last summer. Maybe you saw them, maybe you missed them, but we think you'll enjoy Last Summer's Drive-In Movie Double Feature! Grab a corndog, tune in your radio, or hang that weird staticky speaker in your window… our first feature is starting now! In 2022, after Discovery, Inc. and WarnerMedia merged to become Warner Bros. Discovery, CEO David Zaslav hired director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran to lead the newly-formed DC Studios, rebooting the divisive and ultimately financially unsuccessful DC Extended Universe, the so-called Snyderverse, into what is simply known as the DC Universe. The first official film in the new DCU slate, called "Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters," (nod to last week) was a soft-reboot of the universe focusing on the same character Zach Snyder used in 2013 to start his universe: the Man of Steel himself, the Last Son of Krypton, Superman. With the vibe of "we now join the program already in progress," this overstuffed actioner sees David Corenswet don the tights as Kal-El / Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult shave his head as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Broshnan step behind the keyboard as intrepid reporter Lois Lane. Oh, and there's about a bajillion other people in this movie (plus one cute CGI dog and some robots) because let's just throw the spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks. Imagine the pastabilities! Earth's yellow sun was shining, however, as the film scored the tenth highest-grossing release of 2025, was the highest-grossing superhero film of that year, and was the first DC-based film to surpass all Marvel films released within a single year since The Dark Knight in 2008 - when the first Iron Man hit screens. But with this film's spin-off/follow-up already in theaters and a sequel in production, is Superman still bulletproof or has this pocket universe already met its Kryptonite?   For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com    You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. Supergirl is a 2026 superhero film based on the DC Comics character, directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira. Produced by DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran, it is the second theatrical entry in the new DC Universe (DCU). Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El alongside Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa. Adapted from Tom King and Bilquis Evely's acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the film follows Kara on a galaxy-spanning quest for vengeance that ultimately forces her to confront grief, justice, and her own identity. A standalone Supergirl project had been in development during the DC Extended Universe era after Sasha Calle's debut in The Flash (2023), but Gunn and Safran rebooted the concept following their appointment as co-heads of DC Studios in 2022. Filmed in England and Scotland during early 2025, Supergirl premiered in Brooklyn on June 22, 2026, opened nationwide on June 26 as part of DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, received mixed reviews from critics, and has grossed approximately $63 million worldwide to date.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

SUPERMAN CAMEO ALREADY?! Greg Alba, Coy Jandreau, and Roxy Striar react to the brand-new Supergirl trailer from DC Studios and James Gunn's DCU! This new look gives us a much better sense of the movie's tone, scale, and emotional core, including our best trailer look yet at Milly Alcock's Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Jason Momoa's Lobo, the destruction and trauma tied to Argo, the intergalactic revenge quest with Ruthye, and the major role Krypto plays in kicking off the story. Director Craig Gillespie has described the film as a sci-fi epic inspired in part by True Grit and John Wick, with Kara helping Ruthye track down Krem after Ruthye's family is murdered and Krypto is poisoned. In this trailer reaction, we talk about the melancholy vibe, the heavier emotional weight compared to Superman, the cosmic scope, the action, the visual style, and how much more tragic and battle-worn this version of Supergirl feels. We also get into Lobo's presence, how important Ruthye looks to the story, the destruction of Argo City / Kryptonian life, and what the movie seems to be setting up for Kara emotionally as she moves through this revenge-driven DCU adventure. Craig Gillespie said the film digs deep into Krypton's culture and Argo specifically to shape Kara's personality and pain, which is all over this footage. We also discuss the Superman connection / cameo angle, since David Corenswet's Superman is expected to appear alongside Kara in the film after her DCU debut path was tied to Superman, and the trailer continues to make this feel like a true extension of the new shared universe James Gunn and Peter Safran are building. Supergirl stars Milly Alcock, Jason Momoa, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham, and it hits theaters and IMAX on June 26, 2026. As for the upcoming DCU movie slate under James Gunn, the current theatrical lineup includes Supergirl (June 26, 2026), Clayface (September 2026), and Man of Tomorrow (July 2027), while other DCU film projects in development include The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, The Authority, Teen Titans, and Wonder Woman Follow Roxy Striar YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@TheWhirlGirls Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/roxystriar/?hl=en Twitter:  https://twitter.com/roxystriar Follow Coy Jandreau:  Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@coyjandreau?l... Superman is a 2025 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Superman. Written and directed by James Gunn, it is the first film in the DC Universe (DCU) produced by DC Studios and the second reboot of the Superman film series. David Corenswet stars as Clark Kent / Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. In the film, Superman must prove to the world that he is their protector after billionaire Lex Luthor enacts a plan to turn public opinion against him.Development on a sequel to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Man of Steel (2013) began by October 2014, with Henry Cavill set to reprise his role as Superman. Plans changed after the troubled production of Justice League (2017) and the Man of Steel sequel was no longer moving forward by May 2020. Gunn began work on a new Superman film around August 2022. In October, he became co-CEO of DC Studios with producer Peter Safran and they began work on a new DC Universe. Gunn was revealed to be writing the film in December. The title Superman: Legacy was announced the next month, Gunn was confirmed to be directing in March 2023, and Corenswet and Brosnahan were cast that June. The subtitle was dropped by the end of February 2024, when filming began in Svalbard, Norway. Production primarily took place at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, with location filming around Georgia and Ohio. Filming wrapped in July. The film takes inspiration from the comic book All-Star Superman (2005–2008) by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, among others.Superman premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater on July 7, 2025, and was released by Warner Bros. Pictures in the United States on July 11. It is the first film of the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Superman received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $220 million against a $225 million budget.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

This is Truly a Soy Latte Drinking Superman This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl are joined by the one and only Cousin Kenny to talk about the 2025 DC Studios film Superman: Legacy. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Superman: 5:35 Superman: Legacy (2025) Summary James Gunn reboots the Man of Steel with David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent—not an origin story, but a story of an established hero dealing with political intrigue, social media hate campaigns, and survival in a fractured world. The film blends humor and cosmic stakes as Superman relies on allies like Krypto, the Justice Gang (Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, and Metamorpho), and Lois Lane to stop Lex Luthor's manipulative war plot. Director & Writer: James Gunn (yes, both) Cast: David Corenswet (Superman) Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl) Nathan Fillion (Green Lantern) Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific) Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen) Bradley Cooper (Jor‑El) Neva Howell (Martha Kent) Pruitt Taylor‑Vince (Jonathan Kent) Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher) Milly Alcock (Supergirl), along with Krypto the superdog Production Notes: Produced by DC Studios under James Gunn & Peter Safran; filmed in Norway and Cleveland (superhero street cred points awarded); visual effects helmed by Stéphane Ceretti with costume design honoring Kingdom Come comic aesthetics. Budget & Box Office Projections (as of July 9, 2025): Budget approx. $225 million Opening weekend projections vary from $100M–$130M domestic to $200M+ worldwide, with some forecasts topping $1 billion in total gross if word-of-mouth holds up. Reactions: Critics love its comic-book tone, strong lead performance, and refreshing humor—Rotten Tomatoes sits around 86–91%, calling it “one of DC's best since Batman '89.” Common criticisms include overstuffed plot, chaotic visuals in the final act, and a tone that may alienate some legacy fans. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for May 15, 2025 is: impervious • im-PER-vee-us • adjective Impervious describes that which does not allow something (such as water or light) to enter or pass through. It is also used formally to mean “not bothered or affected by something.” Both senses of impervious are usually used with to. // The material is impervious to water. // The mayor seems impervious to criticism. See the entry > Examples: “All of this ups the already sky-high stakes for ‘Superman,' which relaunches the DC Universe under the direction of Gunn and Peter Safran. The film is the studio's best hope at fielding a billion-dollar blockbuster in 2025, but even the Man of Steel isn't impervious to box office Kryptonite.” — Rebecca Rubin, Variety, 17 Jan. 2025 Did you know? Finding your way through some words' etymologies can lead to surprising discoveries of origins that seemingly have little to do with their modern-day meanings. Impervious, which entered English in the early 1600s, is not one of those words—its history is entirely straightforward. The Latin ancestor of impervious is impervius, which adds the prefix im-, meaning “not,” to pervius, meaning “passable or penetrable.” Pervius in turn comes from per, meaning “through,” and via, meaning “way.” Impervious, it follows, describes things that don't allow a way through something, whether literally (as in “asphalt, concrete, and other surfaces that are impervious to rain”) or figuratively (as in “impervious to criticism/pressure”). The opposite of impervious, pervious, entered English at around the same time, but it is much less common.

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesBrad Winderbaum, head of streaming, television, and animation for Marvel Studios, caught the attention of Defenders fans when he shared that Marvel is exploring bringing back the rest of the Netflix Defenders actors and characters; Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. Winderbaum indicated that the studio is excited about this possibility, but there are a lot of variables that will determine the success of pulling it all together. While this is fun to hear as fans, other Marvel TV is taking a pause. Though sources say these projects were never officially greenlit, Deadline reports that Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. are not currently being developed. This is mostly being attributed to Marvel's shift to traditionally-run television shows. But in confirmed news, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jon Bernthal will star in a Marvel Studios Special Presentation featuring The Punisher that will air in 2026 alongside the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. On Monday we were treated to the surprise drop of the full Andor season 2 trailer from Lucasfilm. In a very un-Star Wars-like fashion, the high octane footage is set to The Revolution Starts Now by Steve Earle and reminds viewers of how acclaimed the first season was. The drop shared more interesting news; the 12-episode season will be dropped in increments of three episodes at a time for four weeks. Phew!DC's duo of James Gunn and Peter Safran took time to have a press event last Friday where they updated us, the people, on where things are going with DC Studios. It's been just over two years since the big film and television overhaul with DC was announced, with Gunn and Safran taking control of the franchise. Gunn reiterated their desire to bring new stories to life with these characters. The updates included the following: Supergirl is halfway through production, Lanterns began production last week, Clayface will be directed by James Watkins and is eyeing a fall 2026 release, Sgt. Rock, still being directed by Luca Guadagnino, no longer has Daniel Craig attached and is looking for its new star, and the animated Robin movie, Dynamic Duo, is in pre-production. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, Gunn had some comments on The Brave and The Bold that some are taking as confirmation that Robert Pattinson will not be the DCU's Batman, with the filmmaker saying,“It's certainly not the plan.” And Safran added, “And we love him, but we've got to introduce a Batman into the DCU. That's imperative. And so that's the plan with The Brave and the Bold.”The James Bond movie franchise is going through a shake up, with Amazon MGM Studios and Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli forming a new joint venture to house the movie property's intellectual property rights. Under the terms of the agreement, Amazon MGM Studios will gain creative control of the James Bond franchise, while Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the 60-year-old property. In 2022, Amazon acquired MGM. Since the MGM acquisition, Amazon has held rights to distribute all of the James Bond films, and following completion of the joint venture transaction will control the creative on future productions.Season two of The Last of Us finally has a premiere date. The seven-episode season of the drama will debut April 13 on HBO. That means the season will complete its run in late May, just under the wire for Emmy eligibility this year.Jack O'Connell and Delroy Lindo, who will both star in Ryan Coolger's upcoming film Sinners, have joined the cast of Legendary's upcoming Monsterverse sequel to Godzilla x Kong.Kitao Sakurai, perhaps best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, has been tapped to direct Street Fighter, Legendary Entertainment's feature adaptation of the classic video game from Capcom.
