Who Is Jesus? // Week 6 // "Lazarus, Come Out!"Pastor JF WilkersonHebrews 1:1-3a NIV 1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.John 1:14 NIV 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.John 11:3-7 NIV 3 So the sisters sent word to Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” 4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, 7 and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”1. Consider His TimingJohn 11:4 NIV 4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it.”John 11:14-15 NIV 14 So then he told them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15 and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”John 11:17 NIV 17 On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days.John 11:25-26 NIV 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”1. Consider His TIMING2. Consider His TEARSJohn 11:32b-35 32b “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. 35 Jesus wept.1. Consider His TIMING2. Consider His TEARS3. Consider your TRUSTJohn 11:38-43 NIV 38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” 40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”John 3:16 NIV 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.John 11:25a NIV 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life… ‘1. Fieldwork undertaken by the Center for Immigration Studies reveals a border now under control, offering clear evidence that the border crisis was never an unstoppable force but rather the result of policy decisions.Last week the Center sent analysts to the Border Patrol's San Diego Sector and across the border to Tijuana, and to the El Paso Sector and across the border to Juarez. These two border sectors had some of the heaviest migrant traffic over the last few years, but now the numbers have plummeted.Center researchers Andrew Arthur and Todd Bensman join Parsing Immigration Policy to discuss what they saw and what policies are making the difference, and three tools in particular:Infrastructure – Expanded fencing and additional concertina wire have been added.Manpower – Border Patrol agents are forward-deployed, no longer being pulled off the line for processing migrants.Criminal Prosecutions – Not only are apprehended migrants no longer being released, but illegal entry is increasingly being handled as a criminal offense, with first-time illegal-crossers facing up to six months in a federal penitentiary. In his closing commentary, host Mark Krikorian, the Center's executive director, explains the Alien Enemies Act, enacted in 1798, which is now in the headlines due to the Trump administration using it as the basis for the swift deportation of a group of Venezuelan gang members. The law can only be triggered by a declared war, an invasion, or a predatory incursion by a foreign nation or government. Its application faces legal challenges and will likely reach the Supreme Court.HostMark Krikorian is the Executive Director of the Center for Immigration StudiesGuestsAndrew Arthur is a Resident Fellow in Law and Policy at the Center for Immigration Studies.Todd Bensman is a Senior National Security Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies.RelatedA Border 'Peace Dividend'Eye-Popping February CBP Numbers Show How the Border Has Changed under TrumpThe 225-year-old 'Alien Enemies Act' Needs to Come Out of RetirementTrump Prepares to Use of the Alien Enemies ActIntro MontageVoices in the opening montage:Sen. This is Thom Holmes. This podcast is produced as a companion to my book, Electronic and Experimental Music, published by Routledge. Each of these episodes corresponds to a chapter in the text and an associated list of recommended works, also called Listen in the text. They provide listening examples of vintage electronic works featured in the text. The works themselves can be enjoyed without the book and I hope that they stand as a chronological survey of important works in the history of electronic music. Be sure to tune-in to other episodes of the podcast where we explore a wide range of electronic music in many styles and genres, all drawn from my archive of vintage recordings. There is a complete playlist for this episode on the website for the podcast. Refined in 2024, Chosen for 2025: Stepping Into the Promise • Friday Service   Website: www.PastorTodd.org To give: www.ToddCoconato.com/give 2024 has been a year of intense refining for the Body of Christ. Through fire, testing, and breaking, God has been purifying His Church, preparing us for the unprecedented glory and harvest that awaits in 2025. This sermon will explore why the refining was necessary and how we are now positioned to step into His promises. 1. Refined Like Gold in the Fire Scripture: Malachi 3:3 (NKJV) “He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord an offering in righteousness.” 2. Broken to Be Made Whole Scripture: Psalm 34:18 (NKJV) “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” 3. Gilgal: A Place of Preparation Scripture: Joshua 5:9 (NKJV) “Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.' Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day.” 4. A Call to Come Out from Among Them Scripture: 2 Corinthians 6:17 (NKJV) “Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.'” 5. Authentic Worship over Performance Scripture: John 4:23-24 (NKJV) “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” 6. Equipped for the Harvest Scripture: Matthew 9:37-38 (NKJV) “Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.'” 7. Citizens of Heaven, Ambassadors of Christ Scripture: Philippians 3:20 (NKJV) “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” 8. Miracles, Signs, and Wonders Scripture: Mark 16:17-18 (NKJV) “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 9. Strengthened Through Trials Scripture: James 1:2-4 (NKJV) “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” 10. The King is Coming Scripture: Revelation 22:12 (NKJV) “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” Step Forward, Remnant 2024 was a year of refining, but 2025 will be a year of triumph. The Lord has equipped and strengthened us for this pivotal moment in history. Let us rise, step boldly into His promises, and shine His light in the darkness. The harvest is here, and the King is coming.

In this episode of The Strange South, co-hosts Patrice, Marleah, & Courtney dive into three fascinating stories about demonic possession and exorcism in the American South, inspired by the television show "Evil." The episode begins with the hosts enjoying a unique "posh parmatini" - a sophisticated cocktail featuring parmesan-infused vodka, courtesy of their friend Mary. The Archive of the Afterlife: A Skeptic's TaleThe first story centers around the Archive of the Afterlife Museum in Moundsville, West Virginia, where owner Steve Hummel houses various allegedly haunted objects. One particular item, a well-worn copy of Dr. Seuss's "The Foot Book," was claimed to be haunted after being connected to a quadruple homicide. However, when skeptical investigator Kenny Biddle looked into the case, he tracked down the book's original owner - a man named Kyle who had simply enjoyed the book as a child before his father sold it at a yard sale. While the book was indeed from near the location of a tragic murder, its direct connection to the crime was debunked. The Modern-Day Demon SlayerThe second story profiles Greg Locke, a controversial fundamentalist preacher from Mount Joliet, Tennessee, who has branded himself as a "demon slayer." Through his Global Vision Bible Church, Locke conducts mass "deliverances," claiming to cast out demons of everything from video games to lactose intolerance. His 2023 movie "Come Out in Jesus Name" grossed $2.5 million in just three days. The hosts discuss how his tent revival-style events, complete with sawdust floors and no air conditioning, create an environment where mass hysteria and spiritual experiences flourish. The Medical MysteryThe final and most compelling story follows Amy Stamatis, a med flight nurse in Little Rock, Arkansas, who experienced a sudden and inexplicable mental breakdown in 2006. After treating a burn victim, she began experiencing severe cognitive issues, hearing voices, and exhibiting erratic behavior. Despite numerous medical evaluations, no physical cause was found. The situation culminated in a tragic incident where she fell from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed. The story takes an unexpected turn when a Pentecostal evangelist named Cindy Lawson performed an exorcism in her hospital room, after which Stamatis reportedly returned to mental wellness, though she remained physically paralyzed. The hosts frame these stories through the lens of the three main characters from "Evil" - the scientist, the psychologist, and the priest - offering different perspectives on how such events might be interpreted through various lenses of understanding. The Strange South podcast continues to explore the unusual, unexplained, and unconventional stories of the American South, blending humor, skepticism, and open-minded curiosity in their storytelling approach.00:00 Introduction to The Strange South00:32 Casual Conversations and Catching Up01:40 The Posh Parmatini Recipe06:46 Book Discussion: Blackwater by Michael McDowell13:33 Exploring the Show 'Evil'17:13 Exorcisms and Southern Evangelicalism21:11 Story Time: Archive of the Afterlife Museum22:46 The Haunted Children's Book23:43 Investigating the Book's History24:27 Debunking the Haunted Book Myth28:50 The Serial Killer Sod Collection30:25 The Demon Slayer Preacher40:58 The Exorcism of Amy Stamatis49:36 Concluding Thoughts and Farewell

In this powerful service, we call on the warriors of faith to rise and prepare for battle. Drawing from the inspiring words of Joshua 1:1-11, where God commands Joshua to lead His people into the Promised Land, we reflect on the themes of courage, unity, and readiness for spiritual warfare. Message Highlights: Warriors are Tribal for UnityAs God told Joshua, “Now then, you and all these people…” (Joshua 1:2), we are reminded that warriors are not lone fighters but are formed together in unity. Just as Philippians 1:27-30 teaches us to strive as one for the faith, we are a tribe, bound together to fulfill God's mission. Warriors are Trained to Be ReadyLike Joshua was instructed to cross the Jordan into the land God promised, we must be prepared to fight for the promises God has set before us. Psalm 144:1-2 reminds us that God trains our hands for battle, preparing us to face the challenges ahead. As we soar with Jesus, we equip ourselves with His Word, prayer, and worship to stand strong in spiritual warfare. Warriors are Territorial for VictoryGod promised Joshua, “I will give you every place where you set your foot” (Joshua 1:3-4). As warriors, we are called to claim the spiritual territories God has set for us. Through availability, teachability, and flexibility, we increase God's glory and His work in our lives. As Romans 11:33 says, God's wisdom is beyond measure, and He calls us to remain humble and open to His divine guidance. Our Weapons: The Word of God: Our sword in spiritual battles (Ephesians 6:17). The Spirit in Prayer: The power behind our prayers (Ephesians 6:18). Worship as Our War Cry: A shout of victory, rallying warriors for God's triumph (Isaiah 42:10-13). Final Call: Warriors, the time is now to step into your calling. Rise in unity, be ready for the fight, and claim the victory that God has already promised. "Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). Warriors, Come Out to Play! Jeff Rich discusses the global conflicts underway and why he thinks this time America will not come out on top as the rest of the world forces change. The West will fight to the death to prevent their decline. Aggressive NATO expansion into Asia can be interpreted as weakness because Washington no longer can sustain its power projection. He comments on the economic transition and the deep state or what he prefers to call the shallow state. As a retired bureaucrat, given his experience, he doubts the success with which the government will be able to implement technocratic projects such as smart cities. We can find more meaningful ways to live our lives by focusing on our own localities. He looks forward to a coming reformulation of the world order. Since the 1890s, the term queer was initially used as a derogatory slur against gay men until it was later reclaimed by the LGBTQ+ community as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity. Today, it's used non-offensively as an inclusive term that embraces a wide spectrum of sexual orientations and gender identities within the community. In this episode, we're taking a look into the etymology of the word queer, tracing its origins as a slur, and examining the pivotal moments and motivations behind the LGBTQ+ community's powerful reclamation of the term.Related Episodes:Listen to Bonus 12.
