The Edmonton Oilers advanced to the Stanley Cup Final last night after beating the Dallas Stars 2-1. The Oilers were out shot heavily, but two goals on the powerplay in the first period from Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman was all the offence they needed. While the offence was there for 60 minutes, Stuart Skinner was fantastic for the Oilers stopping 34 of 35 shots. He was only beaten by Mason Marchment after a bounce of the back borders.Now, the Oilers take on the Florida Panthers with game 1 starting on Saturday in Fort Lauderdale. The Panthers are in the Stanley Cup Final after beating the New York Rangers in six games, ending it on Saturday night on home ice. Edmonton and Florida have faced each other twice this season with the Panthers taking both games.Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break down everything that went down in game 6 of the Western Conference Final. The regular season wrapped up last night for the Edmonton Oilers with a good old-fashioned victory. The Oilers defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2 at Rogers Place to close out their 82 game season with a 50-23-9 record. Mattias Janmark opened up the scoring with what would be his first of two goals on the evening. Leon Draisaitl followed his lead with his 52nd of the season, and then Evan Bouchard and Evander Kane helped extend the cushion a little more. Stuart Skinner had another strong performance between the pipes, too, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced. After the buzzer sounded at Rogers Place, attention turned to the Vegas Golden Knights and Seattle Kraken matchup. A win for Seattle would crown the Oilers as Western Conference and Pacific Division champions. However, it was not meant to be, as the Golden Knights came away with two points meaning the Oilers will now face the LA Kings in round one of the playoffs.Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will put a bow on the regular season and also look at that round-one series versus the Kings. With an LA win, the Oilers edge closer to the Pacific Division lead. Unfortunately for fans of the copper and blue, the Golden Knights took care of business grabbing two points with a 5-2 victory. They will have a chance to gain another two points tomorrow afternoon when they travel to San Jose to face the Sharks. The last time those two teams met, it was a shootout at Rogers Place with the Oilers coming out on top 5-4 winners, thanks to a Darnell Nurse overtime winner.
