Golf's Preeminent Birthday Podcast makes a triumphant return to celebrate Andy Johnson's 40th birthday. The birthday boy is a bit worse for the wear after a "full swing" on Saturday night, but has plenty of stories to share with Brendan after his weekend running a garage sale. Andy's garage sale was NOT the only family-first event on the schedule this week as the Fitzpatrick brothers took home the trophy at the Zurich Classic. Matt Fitzpatrick might have wins in back-to-back weeks, but his younger brother, Alex, now has a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and a spot in the upcoming PGA Championship thanks to a successful week in New Orleans. Andy and Brendan recap a chaotic finish to the PGA Tour's lone team event where it looked like nobody actually wanted to win before one of the best shots of the year from Matt Fitzpatrick on the 72nd hole. In non-Fitzpatrick takeaways, Andy is stunned to hear that Joseph LaMagna has sold off his Davis Thompson stock after a tough Sunday, and Tom Hoge was spotted at the casino late on Saturday night ahead of a t6 finish. After Brendan and KVV's special YouTube episode on Friday, Andy offers up his take on Jim Furyk leading Team USA at the 2027 Ryder Cup and wonders if Nick Saban would've legitimately been just as good of an option. Nelly Korda made her jump into the "temporary water feature" at Memorial Park - or as most people call it, a pool - after winning her second Chevron Championship and third major. Korda went wire-to-wire in Houston, but it remains to be seen if the event was a business success for the LPGA given broadcast constraints and what seemed like limited attendance. To top it all off, the much-anticipated pool jump was cut from the NBC broadcast and moved behind the Peacock paywall at the last minute. Paul Azinger made the most of his time on cable TV with Bob Papa this weekend while calling the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, filling PJ and Brendan with joy due to his one-liners. Retief Goosen held off a charging Stephen Ames and Zach Johnson to win the event. Lastly on the recap schedule, Andy's Event of the Week on the Legends Tour didn't go well for tournament host Ian Woosnam and questions arise about Henrik Stenson's inability to contend on the Euro's version of the Champions Tour. We will return on Wednesday to preview the return of the PGA Tour to the Blue Monster at Doral. Gary Williams opens the show by breaking down a packed week in golf, highlighted by the Zurich Classic of New Orleans win from Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick and a dominant major performance from Nelly Korda at The Chevron Championship. Gary reflects on Korda's return to world No. 1, what makes a true star in the sport, and how performance and personality combine to elevate players on the biggest stages.Charles Barkley, basketball hall of famer and avid golfer, joins the show to share his journey through one of golf's most infamous swing struggles and how instructor Stan Utley helped him rebuild both his motion and confidence. Barkley opens up about the mental challenges of the game, why overthinking nearly drove him away from golf, and how rediscovering enjoyment has brought him back to playing nearly every day.Barkley also offers a candid perspective on what separates elite players on the PGA TOUR and amateurs, from their consistency to their ability to recover around the greens. He explains why the mental side of golf is unlike any other sport and shares insights on watching the game's best perform under pressure. The conversation expands to the cultural impact of Tiger Woods, with Barkley explaining how Tiger transcended golf and became a true “needle mover” who brought new audiences into the sport. He compares golf's biggest stars to icons across other leagues and discusses why only a select few athletes truly change the landscape of their game.5 Clubs airs on Golf Channel and SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio (Channel 92).0:00 Weekly Winners3:33 The Fitzpatrick Brothers Win5:33 Nelly goes wire-to-wire13:55 Charles Barkley38:50 PGA TOUR Signature Sandwich Issue45:35 Jim Furyk named Ryder Cup CaptainFOLLOW 5 Clubs: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/5clubsgolf/X: https://x.com/5ClubsGolf Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/5ClubsGolf/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@5clubsgolf

Er det slut med LIV Golf…? Det er spørgsmålet efter Saudi Arabiens offentlige investeringsfond i sidste uge meldte en ny strategi ud for de kommende fire år. Brendan! joins The Boys for this Masters cleanup episode before jetting over to meet Andy in Scotland. Joseph immediately begins with some comments regarding his drive back to Atlanta alongside Brendan that featured 90s hip-hop and a spilled coffee in the precious GLS. From there, the trio wonder if Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler should just be the prohibitive Masters favorites for the next three or four years given their 1-2 finish this week without their "A games." There's also some debate about whether Rory has surpassed Phil Mickelson in the all-time rankings of golf. PJ and Joseph watched the final round back on TV and shared some thoughts on Russell Henley, Collin Morikawa, and Xander Schauffele that they didn't pick up on the ground on Sunday. The two also weigh in on the discourse surrounding the CBS broadcast, which was amplified even more by Kevin Kisner's comments making the rounds on X early Tuesday morning. Brendan then shifts the attention to the Schedule for the Week, beginning with a Signature Event at the RBC Heritage. Brendan openly states that there shouldn't be golf this week and sees the Heritage as a legacy event that will surely be impacted by the PGA Tour's ever-changing schedule and stance on wanting a piece of the monetary pie from the majors. He shares whispers from under the big tree at Augusta about these conversations and how big Tour sponsors may allocate their funds moving forward. With Andy out, PJ steps in and provides 5 Guys to Monitor This Week in Hilton Head, including one with an "unfair advantage" much like Rory allegedly had at ANGC. Joseph, PJ, and Brendan all make One-and-Done picks as Golf's Premier Gambling Podcast looks to stay hot after hitting a winner at the Masters. The "Event of the Year" is next on the schedule rundown with the Senior PGA Championship's move to April. PJ shares some important tee times and notable storylines for this year's event at The Concession, featuring the big debut of Rory (Sabbatini)! LIV Mexico City and the JM Eagle LA Championship are also previewed before moving on to the biggest news of the week so far: the installation of a pool on the 18th hole at Memorial Park. Brendan can't believe that the Chevron Championship is making its golf tournament all about a jump into some water and a friend of Joseph's was kind enough to provide photos of this small four-foot-deep pool next to the 18th green! It was a pleasure to be joined in this episode by 8x LPGA Tour winner including 2x Major Championships, 6x Solheim Cupper for USA & 2024 Solheim Cup Assistant Captain Brittany Lincicome as she took time to speak from Florida from a busy schedule as we discuss Solheim Cup, her fantastic career and more. Brittany nicknamed 'Bam Bam' is from Saint Petersburg in Florida but resides in Gulfport right next to the water and would take up the game at 9 and has been known for her length off the tee for a long time. She made her professional debut in 2005. In 2006 she would win World Matchplay Championship, 2007 would win Ginn Open, 2011 would see 2 victories at Shoprite LPGA Classic & Canadian Open and in back to back years in 2017 & 2018 would see Brittany win Bahamas Classic. Nothing is in comparison though to winning Kraft Nabisco in 2009 & ANA Inspiration in 2015 both known now as Chevron Championship 1 of the 5 Major titles in Women's Golf! Brittany talks about the impact of winning 2 Major titles and getting the privilege to jump into Poppy's Pond twice! Brittany would also be only the 5th female player to play a PGA Tour event at 2018 Barbasol. Brittany has participated in 21 matches across 6 Solheim Cups for USA and managed 7 Wins, 12 Losses & 2 Halves winning the biennial trophy 4 out 6 times and would also be part of Stacy Lewis' assistance at 2024 Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones where USA were victorious! Overall, Brittany has made over 400 LPGA starts, making 315 cuts while winning 8 times & 66 Top 10's in her established career. It was a great chat and I was her all the best in her semi retirement and going forward with opportunities outside of playing! Be sure to download via Podbean, Apple & Spotify, thanks everyone!
After a long while of trying, it was a pleasure to finally be joined by 7x Professional title winner & 2x Belgian Olympian Manon De Roey after a solid season stateside reaching CME Tour finals on LPGA Tour. Manon'a trophy collection also includes 3x Ladies European Tour titles at 2022 Aramco Series Bangkok, 2024 Investec SA Women's Open & last year's Australian Women's Classic. Manon is from the Schilde Muncipality just outside of Antwerp in Belgium and although she played Hockey for 13 years at a good level, she would start playing the game around about the age of 11. Manon had some success at Junior & Amateur level winning the Belgian Amateur Strokeplay twice in 2013 & 2014, winning the 2014 Belgian Matchplay Championship, receiving the 2009 Annette De Vooght Trophy given to the Best Female Belgian player, would participate in 2009 European Girls' Team Championships for Belgium as well as the European Ladies' Team Championship & Espirito Santo Trophy in Japan during her time at University of New Mexico. In 2015 Manon would turn professional and between 2018 & 2019 on LET Access Series she would pick up 3 titles winning WPGA International Challenge in back to back years as well as 2019 Santander GT LETAS Valencia. In 2020 in the midst of a weird time De Roey would pick up a mini tour title in Australia at Aoyuan International Moss Vale Pro Am. As well as participating at both 2021 & 2024 Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris respectively some great memories for Manon to reflect on, 2022 would see the maiden title won on Ladies European Tour at Aramco Series Individual in Bangkok by 3 shots (Manon actually brings out the trophy on camera, lovely). She would follow that up in 2024 in South Africa winning by 4 then at last year's Australian Women's Classic at Coffs Harbour playing one of the most clutch 2nd shots in a long time to win by a shot to Cara Gainer. In 2025 alone outwith the LET victory would see a 9th placed finish at Chevron Championship major and a host of good finishes contributing to making CME Tour finals at Tiburon, a fantastic achievement. I just want to thank Manon for being such a great guest. Great player, lovely person and thanks for the privilege of seeing your trophy on the screen! All the best for 2026! Downloads via Podbean, Apple & Spotify also be sure to check out the video recording on YouTube
Despite the almost four-hour runtime of Part 5, the show must go on as the self-imposed Christmas deadline inches closer and closer. Andy and Brendan are once again joined by PJ and KVV to chat through a set of four events following Rory's win at the Masters. Before the Year in Review gets back underway, the four recap this week's biggest news: Alejandro Tosti's performance at PGA Tour Q-School. Everyone is giddy to have Tosti back for another season on the big tour and they commend him for fighting through Q-School for a second time. Andy, Brendan, and Kevin also discuss some late-breaking golf news regarding the National Links Trust and the Trump administration's plan to renovate the three public golf courses in Washington D.C. The Year in Review resumes with a look back at the RBC Heritage and the immediate wake of one of the greatest wins in golf history. PJ runs through a week's worth of Rory reactions before unveiling the important stuff, such as Grant Horvat's Barracuda exemption (unused) and Wesley Bryan's PGA Tour suspension (still seemingly ongoing). Justin Thomas returned to the winner's circle in Hilton Head, getting over the finish line for the first time since the 2022 PGA Championship. Andy is next up with the Zurich Classic, where Rory McIlroy made his return to golf in a team event alongside Shane Lowry. Andy rediscovers the backboarding that occurred at a disastrous Chevron Championship and the power outage that led to the golf world being exposed to a Champions Tour Sunday on national TV. He also shares that one of the great technological achievements of our time happened this week! Brendan has the honor of recapping PGA Tour history, as Scottie Scheffler burned down TPC Craig T. Nelson Ranch and tied the all-time scoring record in a runaway win. All that may be great, but Brendan is most excited about the children in attendance chanting while a bulldozer wrecked the practice green ahead of Lanny's renovation. KVV comes in to close things out again, handling the first-ever Truist Championship. His findings lead the group down a rabbit-hole of past HSBC photo shoots, complete with a flying Henrik Stenson and Yao Ming. The 2025 Year in Review returns on Wednesday with the long-awaited Rise of Rea.

We recap another eventful week in the game of golf on The Smylie Show, with two new TOUR winners emerging from the only team event of the year, an interesting decision for a 17-year-old phenom on the Korn Ferry Tour, and comments from Scottie Scheffler and Adam Scott on changes to the TOUR Championship competitive structure that could go into place as early as this season. Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme begin by discussing the state of their respective games with SK headed into a busy week featuring a pro-am, a golf trip to a top-100 destination, and a member-member tournament.
