Professor Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell presents her paper 'A Comparative Analysis of Crowdfunding Rules in the EU and U.S.' Teresa Rodríguez de las Heras Ballell is Associate Professor of Commercial Law at University Carlos III of Madrid, Spain. She is a Visiting Fellow at Harris Manchester College, Oxford University and has been a Transatlantic Technology Law Fellow at Stanford Law School since 2015. She has also held visiting teaching and research positions at Columbia Law School, the University of Washington, and the University of Tokyo. Her main research interests are digital law (crowdfunding, shared economy, electronic platforms, digital intermediaries), international business transactions and secured transactions and corporate finance. (Photo by Susan Wilson) His playing has variously been called “compelling and moving,” “magnificent and revelatory,” and “bold, imaginative, and amazingly accurate.” In demand as a teacher and mentor of aspiring professional performers, he is Associate Professor of Music and Chair of the Historical Performance Department at Boston University. Since 1985 he has also served as Director of Music at First Church in Cambridge, Congregational. He has been adjudicator for competitions sponsored by the American Guild of Organists, the Royal Canadian College of Organists, and the Bach International Harpsichord Festival in Montreal as well as the Broadwood Harpsichord Competition in London and the Miami International Organ Competition. A member of the board of the Cambridge Society for Early Music, he is a founding board member and current president of the Boston Clavichord Society. In this conversation Peter shares his insights, among other things, about his experience of playing the harpsichord, clavichord and organ, being a versatile musician, loving music making for its own sake, and imagining the sound first. Episode 5 features a pre-concert lecture by Blue Heron's Music Director, Scott Metcalfe. In his lecture, given on October 13, 2012, before a concert in Cambridge, Metcalfe took on a number of interesting topics. He discussed the works that were about to be given their North American Premieres (Ludford's Missa Inclina cor meum and Mason's Ave fuit prima salus), the history of the Peterhouse partbooks (which is the sole source of those pieces), why Blue Heron approaches this repertoire the way it does and finally "why music from the 16th century should be as captivating, varied and expressive as music from any other age." The lecture was supported in part by the Cambridge Society for Early Music. The Ludford and Mason works discussed in this lecture were recorded shortly after the premiere performances in October 2012, and will soon be released commercially on Blue Heron's own label, as Volume 3 of a planned set of 5 Peterhouse Partbooks recordings (BHCD1004; RELEASE DATE: October 2013). The disc will contain the world premiere recordings of all the music on the CD.
