Cannes 2022: I denne podkastepisoden fra Cannes snakker vi om to av de beste filmene vi har sett til nå på festivalen, Charlotte Wells' Aftersun og Lucien Castaing-Taylor og Verena Paravels De humani corporis fabrica. I sideseksjonen Kritikeruken vises filmer av første- og andregangsregissører, og dette programmet er vanligvis en sikker kilde til oppdagelser – så også i år. Skotske Charlotte Wells deltar i Kritikeruken med sin første langfilm Aftersun, og vårt panel er enige om at dette er festivalens hittil beste fiksjonsfilm. På den andre siden har vi også blitt slått i bakken av den etnosensografiske dokumentaren De humani corporis fabrica (som vises i Quinzaine des réalisateurs), regissert av duoen Castaing-Taylor/Paravel, som sist imponerte oss med sin kompromissløse kannibaldokumentar Caniba i Venezia i 2017 (diskutert i Filmfrelst #279). Begge filmene står i fokus i samtalen nedenfor, og i første del om Aftersun snakker vi om en del ulike scener og motiver i detalj, så selv om det ikke egentlig er spoilere, kan de som ønsker å vite absolutt ingenting om filmen – utover at den er en stor oppdagelse og høyst sannsynlig vil stå igjen som en av årets beste – hoppe rett til praten om De humani corporis fabrica (starter omtrent 40 minutter inn i episoden). Cannibale, cet obscur objet du désirSOCIÉTÉ L'anthropophagie serait-elle un nouvel objet de culte? La fiction s'entiche de plus en plus d'histoires cannibales. Deux essais nous plongent dans les racines de cet étrange appétit. Décryptage d'une fascination Le 11 juin 1981, Issei Sagawa, 32 ans, fils d'un riche industriel japonais, invite dans son appartement parisien Renée Hartevelt, étudiante néerlandaise de 25 ans. Sur place, il l'abat d'un coup de carabine, la dépèce et mange son cadavre pendant trois jours, en commençant par le clitoris. Il sera déclaré pénalement irresponsable et renvoyé au Japon, où il publiera plusieurs best-sellers.Depuis, Issei Sagawa a inspiré plusieurs documentaires, dont le récent Caniba, présenté au Geneva International Film Festival. Filmé chez lui, avec force gros plans sur sa bouche, il confie être toujours hanté par l'anthropophagie. Le «Japonais cannibale» n'est pas le seul ogre à défrayer la chronique. En 2001, Armin Meiwes, le «cannibale de Rotenburg», innovait en recrutant un homme prêt à se faire déguster, et même à goûter la saveur de son propre pénis fraîchement émasculé. Dès qu'un psychotique semble tout droit surgir d'un conte à la Hansel et Gretel, il déchaîne les passions. On raconte toujours ses méfaits des décennies après, on l'interroge, on veut savoir quel diable lui a permis de ne pas vomir en mastiquant un semblable… Mythe universel Ces temps-ci, le cannibalisme devient même une tendance de la pop culture, avec une débauche de fictions carnassières. Du multi-primé Grave, de Julia Ducournau, qui raconte la mue d'une ado vegane en prédatrice, à Santa Clarita Diet, série Netflix dans laquelle Drew Barrymore boulotte ses voisins dans une banlieue chic. Ridley Scott vient aussi de produire The Terror, série adaptée d'un roman de Dan Simmons sur une célèbre expédition navale du XIXe siècle durant laquelle les marins, pris dans les glaces et affamés, finirent par s'entre-dévorer. La série australienne Patricia Moore suit quant à elle une ado issue d'une famille anthropophage qui vit un conflit de loyauté lorsqu'elle s'amourache d'un garçon. L'aimer ou le dévorer, telle est la question… Le point commun qui semble traverser ces fictions? L'ogre n'est plus un monstre, il nous semble. C'est que, affirme Mondher Kilani, anthropologue à l'Unil qui réhabilite lui-même les mangeurs d'homme dans un essai captivant, paru en mars – Du goût de l'autre. Fragments d'un discours cannibale (Seuil) –, la manducation de son prochain est moins un acte de monstruosité que «le mythe universel de notre rapport à l'autre. Car l'identité n'est jamais singulière. Elle reste instable, multiple, et se nourrit d'autrui. Et notre fascination pour le cannibalisme provient de ce trouble identitaire qui oscille entre angoisse du différent et désir d'approcher l'autre jusqu'à l'incorporer.»Le cannibalisme est d'ailleurs un terme inventé par Christophe Colomb, en pleine conquête coloniale, qui permit d'accuser les habitants des «confins du monde» de l'acte tabou par excellence… pour mieux les soumettre. «Il est difficile de traiter du cannibalisme en tant que fait objectif car il fait toujours intervenir imaginaires et fantasmes, poursuit Mondher Kilani. Même dans les cas de pénurie extrême où il fallut manger ses semblables, on inventait des règles pour permettre de transgresser l'interdit du passage à l'acte, comme ne pas manger ses proches, ou certaines parties du corps.» L'historienne médiéviste Angelica Montanari publie elle aussi un essai récent qui se dévore avec appétit: Cannibales: Histoire de l'anthropophagie en Occident (Arkhê). Où l'on apprend que notre civilisation n'a pas toujours chipoté sur la viande humaine. Au Moyen Age, le corps d'autrui est même considéré comme un puissant remède. «Lié à la vie et à ses passions», le sang est ainsi réputé guérir l'épilepsie. Et pour le recueillir, on se rue au cou de criminels tout juste égorgés dans l'arène. Le sang fait également partie des ingrédients de «la liqueur de momie: élixir de longue vie, parfois mélangé à du sperme, de la moelle et des testicules […] Saturée de folklore et de croyances païennes, la pharmacologie médiévale verse dans le miraculeux,» écrit l'auteure. C'est ainsi que, par principe de similitude, on octroie aux membres du corps des uns la vertu de soigner le corps des autres, en réduisant par exemple l'os du crâne en poudre pour traiter la migraine. «Un médecin du XVIIe siècle, Lancillotti, prescrit que le cadavre destiné à un usage pharmacologique soit «frais», jeune «entre 15 et 20 ans», «sans aucune putréfaction», «mort de mort violente et non pas de maladie» et, si possible, «d'un homme de couleur et de système pileux allant sur le roux», détaille l'auteure. Le roux étant la pilosité qui se rapproche le plus du sang vermeil supposé miraculeux… Capitalisme dévoreur Au XVIe siècle, la mumia, liquide élaboré avec des restes humains bouillis puis filtrés, est également très populaire. Tandis que le chirurgien Ambroise Paré conteste avec véhémence les «effets thérapeutiques du composé cadavérique, trouvant inutile et repoussante l'idée de manger les corps desséchés des défunts». D'autant que la matière première de toutes ces décoctions se prélève souvent directement sur des cadavres fraîchement suppliciés sur le gibet. Grandes famines anthropophages, rituels de punition, origine des monstres folkloriques dévoreurs d'homme, Angelica Montanari fouille minutieusement l'anthropophagie réelle ou rêvée d'une époque où avaler l'autre restait une monstruosité. A moins que l'autre ne soit transformé en potion salvatrice, dans une grande ambivalence du rapport à autrui, là encore… Au XXIe siècle, les nouveaux anthropophages tout droit sortis des contes d'Hollywood, qu'ils soient ogres, vampires, loups-garous, zombies ou simples ados à la mine sympathique, sont enfin nos alter ego assumés. Noel Swerdlow is Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Chicago. He has specialized in the study of the practice of astronomy in antiquity through the 17th century. I emailed Dr. Swerdlow on this matter. Here is what he had to say on Ms. Murdock's view:

“In antiquity, constellations were just groups of stars, and there were no borders separating the region of one from the region of another. In astrology, for computational purposes the zodiacal signs were taken as twelve arcs of 30 degrees measured from the vernal equinox. Because of the slow westward motion of the equinoxes and solstices, what we call the precession of the equinoxes, these did not correspond to the constellations with the same names. But . . . within which group of stars the vernal equinox was located, was of no astrological significance at all. The modern ideas about the Age of Pisces or the Age of Aquarius are based upon the location of the vernal equinox in the regions of the stars of those constellations. But the regions, the borders between, those constellations are a completely modern convention of the International Astronomical Union for the purpose of mapping . . . and never had any astrological significance. I hope this is helpful although in truth what this woman is claiming is so wacky that it is hardly worth answering.(5) So when this woman says that the Christian fish was a symbol of the ‘coming age of Pisces', she is saying something that no one would have thought of in antiquity because in which constellation of the fixed stars the vernal equinox was located, was of no significance and is entirely an idea of modern, I believe twentieth-century, astrology.”

Taking a deeper look at Jordanus Maximus, The Naked Truth, Mythinfo Agents, & Astrotheology This is a show i've been wanting to do for years. Long before I started this podcast, I was reading Jordan Maxwell, & that eventually led me into investigating the truth of his claims. This episode will not be for everyone especially if you're a fan of Jordan Maxwell, & his Astrotheology disciples. If so, you'll hate it, but at least be honest enough to ask yourselves why? One thing to consider about his works: Yes, he was right about some things, especially concerning governments, banking, & new world order agendas, but those things had already been exposed years earlier by people like, William Guy Carr, Myron C. Fagan, Eustace Mullins, Gary Allen, Carroll Quigley, Anthony C. Sutton, Ralph Epperson, & even, Abbe Barruel, & John Robison decades earlier. The main question i have to ask: If Astrotheology is true, why would Maxwell, & the others have to lie about so many different things? Why the false connection to word origins from different languages formed in different time periods that have absolutely no relation? Why make up such silly stories about biblical texts, & ancient history that the world of secular scholars easily debunks? The people from the Bible lived in agrarian societies where they survived off the land. Of course, you would find fish, cows, & other animals that are included in the modern Zodiac. After all, it has some of those basic animals in it. As Albert Mcilhenny points out, Jesus is also called the Lion of The Tribe of Judah so, why not equate him w/ Leo? Why not divulge that many of your claims came straight from occultists like, Massey, & Higgins? Why would Jordan, lie, & act as if he isn't a big Blavatsky fan? He's openly claimed to have been a protege of late Rosicrucian/Freemason philosopher Manly P. Hall. BTW, Hall's estate has denied the fact. Why would the rest not admit that they are coming from a Theosophy/New Age standpoint? Jordan Maxwell, & his emissaries know full well that most people are ignorant of modern history, let alone, ancient history. They know most won't understand that much of the info they represent came from various occultists, & that modern research, & evidence has proven many of those claims to be incorrect. They counted on most to not understand how many of the stories from later antiquity were Hellenized to fit the narratives of the time. They also understood, those who are new to realizing things aren't quite the way they've been led to believe are easily thrown into pure nihilism. This makes them easy targets because they tend to grab onto others who are professing a knowledge of alternative facts, & they aren't yet equipped to discern truth from lies. Another interesting aspect to keep in mind, Blavatsky tried her hand at several different things before hooking up with Alcott, & getting the Theosophical Society going. She herself, was a Co-Mason, although like Jordan Maxwell, she took many shots at the higher degrees of Freemasonry. Perhaps, it's because, Theosophy, & Freemasonry were competing tribes, & initiates equaled money. Perhaps, it's just another way to create chaos through words, & throw the truth seekers off the the path. In any case, they were planning on their audience not investigating the truth about their claims. Many of which are easily refuted. I could go on, & on, but let's look further into it. Here is what he had to say on Ms. Murdock's view: In antiquity, constellations were just groups of stars, and there were no borders separating the region of one from the region of another. In astrology, for computational purposes the zodiacal signs were taken as twelve arcs of 30 degrees measured from the vernal equinox. Because of the slow westward motion of the equinoxes and solstices, what we call the precession of the equinoxes, these did not correspond to the constellations with the same names. But . . . within which group of stars the vernal equinox was located, was of no astrological significance at all. The modern ideas about the Age of Pisces or the Age of Aquarius are based upon the location of the vernal equinox in the regions of the stars of those constellations. But the regions, the borders between, those constellations are a completely modern convention of the International Astronomical Union for the purpose of mapping . . . and never had any astrological significance.
