We continue to celebrate the life of the legendary cartoonist John Cassaday who tragically died on September 9th. He was one of Jimmy's closest friends. Jimmy shares some stories of their friendship and adventures. He also asked some of John's friends/colleagues to send in their memories of him as well. They talk about his incredible body of work, how they met, fun times together and more. Thanks so much to Ben Raab, Paul Pope, Heidi MacDonald, CB Cebulski, John Layman, Fabio Moon, Laura Martin, Michael Avon Oeming, Lorraine Cink, Nick Barrucci, Dean Haspiel, Marta Balusek and Producer Joe for sharing their reflections on John. This is an emotional and raw episode but also full of love and light. We all love and miss him terribly. We were all lucky to have him in our lives. His legacy will keep his energy around us eternally. Thanks for listening.

Let's find out!Spider-Man: The Manga (Marvel): 1-31(This was Marvel's hacked up English presentation for American audiences. I'm frankly surprised it lasted this long. It does feature early work translating by CB Cebulski, current Editor-in-Chief at Marvel.)
Marvel Magaverse? More like Marvel mangle-verse, amirite? Hahaha, CB Cebulski pretended to be Japanese in order to get in with Marvel and THIS is where it started: a poorly thought-out attempt to appeal to anime-loving kids in the 2000s by doing...basically nothing different except for a few stereotypes. Lindsay would like things to be a little better, so she and Tanner spend this episode saying which mangaka they'd like to see take on which marvel characters in a more traditional format. Also featured are discussions on them all being shōnen heroes, the honduran white bat, and who's gonna get turned into noodle people by CLAMP. Our friendship promo this week is @CapesOnTheCouch! Spoilers between 26:38 to 27:52 / 31:41 to 33:55. Welcome to the place where I get to let my geek flag fly /and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is where I look into the world of geekdom and some geek news, comics, The Simpsons, Star Wars, and whatever randomness finds its way onto the recording. This level of the podcast is a bonusode since I knew you’d be listening to just me and Danny conversing with the soulful sound of freeway traffic in the background. It includes Danny trying to say nice things about BvS, Steel, Daredevil, non-spoiler thoughts on Netflix’s Punisher series, a mostly non-spoiler discussion about Justice League, the new Star Wars trilogy to be started by Rian Johnson, the underwhelming box office/delayed Rotten Tomatoes score for Justice League, a live action Star Wars show on Disney streaming service, New Warriors show pulled from Freeform and being shopped to other networks, the Deadpool 2 Bob Ross trailer, who should be the new Batman?, the Black Adam script writers/Zachary Levi and other casting (Asher Angel/Mark Strong), Ron Howard reshot 80% of the Han Solo movie, Brainiac to be in Krypton and Supergirl, brief thoughts on DCW shows we’d caught (Supergirl/Arrow), excitement about Avengers Infinity War, the Disney/Fox talks about buying properties, Brian Michael Bendis’ move to DC Comics, CB Cebulski as new Marvel editor in chief, Suicide Squad 2 villain might be Black Adam, The Boys by Garth Ennis to become a TV show, and then after the hour mark a drunken me talking about the Fatman on Batman live podcast at the Scum & Villainy Cantina in Hollywood.
