In this week's episode, Tay is back for another girl talk episode with actress and comedian Christina Kirkman! Christina begins by talking about competing in the “R U All That?: Nickelodeon's Search for the Funniest Kid in America” competition and winning the highly coveted spot as a regular cast member on All That at just 10 years old. She shares the reality of stepping into Hollywood so young, why she ended up leaving Nickelodeon, and the identity crisis that followed as she struggled to detach from the “All That girl” label. Christina opens up about how bullying and burnout led her to pivot toward broadcast journalism in college, but after an internship at Comedy Central, she found her way back to acting. She also talks about learning that she needs alone time to process and recharge, her experience balancing social media and the anxiety that can come with it, her habit of using comedy as a mask, and how her new podcast is helping her reconnect with herself in a more honest way.Be sure to follow Christina https://www.instagram.com/christinakirkman/!Check out Christina's podcast “Life's A Joke”: https://swap.fm/l/lifesajokeTo email us your questions or share your story, you can reach out to lautner.thesqueezepodcast@gmail.comBe sure to rate, review, and follow the podcast so you don't miss an episode! When Cheryl Bradshaw appeared on the popular game show The Dating Game in 1978, she was charmed by bachelor number one, Rodney Alcala, and by the end of the episode, she'd chosen him to take her on a date. However, just minutes after the episode finished taping, Cheryl met bachelor number two in person backstage and was immediately uncomfortable and quickly contacted producers of the show to cancel the date. What Bradshaw didn't know at the time was that, in doing so, she had narrowly avoided spending an evening in the company of one of America's most notorious serial killers. At the time of his appearance on The Dating Game in 1978, Alcala was a convicted sexual predator who had served time for sexual assault and had only avoided a charge of attempted murder on a technicality. How can we intentionally increase or decrease psychological distance for ourselves or others who are making decisions? What are "decisionscapes"? When giving toddlers choices, we often artificially limit the number of available options to help smooth out the decision process and avoid decision paralysis. When might the imposition of this kind of artificial limitation be useful for adult decision-makers? Is it possible to show someone that you really care about them without making any kind of sacrifice? What has AI done to the value of art? Bible Reading: 1 John 3:18-19; 4:19Each month, Annie went with her grandma to the nursing home to do craft time with the residents. Annie was beginning to love all the residents, especially Miss Tilley."You remind me of my Emily when she was a little girl," Miss Tilley told Annie each time she saw her. Annie would always smile and give her a hug."Does Miss Tilley have any family around?" Annie asked Grandma on the ride home one day. "I don't think she does," said Grandma. "Her daughter lives in another state and rarely comes to visit her. A lot of the residents don't get many visitors and are probably lonely." "That's sad. I'm glad we do craft time with them, Grandma. Thanks for taking me with you each month. I didn't think I would like going, but I look forward to it now."Grandma smiled. "You know, Annie, when you sit and visit with Miss Tilley and the other residents, you're showing them love through your actions, just like the Bible tells us to do.""I am?" asked Annie.Grandma nodded. "There's a verse that says, 'Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.' Because we know Jesus, who loves us so much that He gave His life to save us, we can show His love to others. When you spend time with the residents at the nursing home, you're communicating God's love to them," Grandma said as she pulled into Annie's driveway."How was craft time today?" Mom asked as Grandma and Annie walked in. "Fun, as always! Miss Tilley told me I remind her of her daughter again, and Mr. Kirkman was his usual loving, grouchy self." Annie laughed.Grandma and Annie sat and told Mom about their evening. "Grandma told me I was love in action. Did you know it says in the Bible that we shouldn't just say we love someone but that we should show it?" Annie asked. Mom nodded and smiled. Annie jumped up and gave Mom a big hug. "What's the hug for?" Mom asked. "Just showing you I love you!" Annie bounded over to Grandma and threw her arms around her. "I love you too, Grandma!"–Lisa FullerHow About You?Are you showing God's love to others through your actions? Our kind, loving actions show that we belong to God. We love each other because He loved us first. God showed us how much He loved us by sending Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins. That was true love in action. If you know Jesus as your Savior, you can show others the same kind of love He shows us.Today's Key Verse:Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. (NLT) (1 John 3:18)Today's Key Thought:Show God's love through your actions

What can we learn from artists about decision-making? More than you might think. We often see decision-making in binary terms and whether decisions are good or bad. But what if they're more subjective and akin to the way an artist looks at the world? That's what my guest explores in her new book. That guest is Elspeth Kirkman, Chief Programme Officer at the innovation agency Nesta and a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at King's College London's Policy School and Exeter University's Business School. She works at the intersection of design, data, and experimentation to solve societal problems. Elspeth's book ‘Decisionscape' explores how the decisions we make are influenced by a variety of factors, many of which are personal to each of us.
