All the links to the original sources can be found in the notes and I urge you to check them out. 1.The Obi-Wan Kenobi series will debut in less than two weeks on Disney Plus and the press tour surrounding it is in full swing. This past week Director Debora Chow and stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christense and Moses Ingram were seen in Berlin and London. In talking about her character, an Imperial Inquisitor named Reva, Moses Ingram said QUOTE “She is ruthless. She doesn't care about what people think about the way she does things. She'll cut people down and get the job done whatever it takes.” The actress went on to say about her costars, “even on set there were lifelong fans who would just get so moved by being around Ewan or Hayden. I think it's going to be a big deal for fans to see them at the center.” There have been no new nuggets of information about the story shared so far on the press tour but Ewan did say that it took him some time to get back to the Alec Guiness style of speaking for the title role. Obi-Wan Kenobi debuts on Disney plus on Friday, May 27th with the first two episodes of the six-part series.2.Video game industry insider Jeff Grubb said on a recent Grubbsnax stream that the title for the sequel to the wildly popular Jedi: Fallen Order game will be Jedi: Survivor. Grub has also said in previous scoops that gameplay footage from the sequel to the EA RESPAWN game would be shared at Star Wars Celebration later this month. The video game reporter also claims that Jedi: Survivor will be a next-gen console game only. There is no release date or confirmation of the title at this time.3.Keeping with video game news, Lego, the Skywalker Saga continues to make waves in the industry. According to the website GamesBeat, the brick-based Star Wars game is already ranked as the number two selling video game of 2022 so far ahead of the latest Pokemon offering and the epic Horizon Zero Dawn sequel trailing only Elden Ring in sales. 4.Bryce Dallas Howard was interviewed by friend of the podcast, Germain Lussier at io9 recently and of course the topic of Star Wars came up. The daughter of Solo 2 director Ron Howard, has been behind the camera for two episodes of the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett episode titled “Return of the Mandalorian.” When asked if there was a story that would spark her interest in direting a Star Wars film she said quote “Oh my goodness, I think it would take someone asking me.” Bryce will next be seen ON screen reprising her role as Claire Dearing for the third time when Jurassic World Dominion hits theaters June 10th.5.Speaking of directors on Disney Plus Star Wars shows, this week, in a simple photo of a an Ahsoka-logo emblazoned directors chair and a signature cowboy hat belonging to one Dave Filoni, the official star wars twitter account revealed that production has officially begun on the Ahsoka live-action series. Shortly thereafter, rumors emerged from movie scooper Daniel RPK and Adam Frazier that actor Mathew Law has been brought on to the show in a quote “big role.” The Six-foot one Law is best known for a role in four episodes of Agents of Shield. This unconfirmed casting joins other rumored actors including Natasha Loo Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, and Mary Elizabeth Winsted, Ivanna Sahkno (SOK-NO) and Ray Stevenson in unidentified roles. The Ahsoka series does not yet have an official release date.6.Michael Waldron, the writer who worked on Loki and Doctor Strange among other Marvel projects, is finally turning his attention to the long rumored Kevin Feige Star Wars film. He told Variety QUOTE ““We're finally into it in earnest. I mean, I'm writing away. It's a lot of fun…It just doesn't have a bunch of TV shows and movies that you're servicing on top of it, the way I did with Doctor Strange. So it's nice..” The Feige film was first mentioned in 2019 and is expected to be a one-off project. There is no title or release date from Lucasfilm for the movie at this time.7.In Star Wars book news, friend of the show Mike Chen is officially a Star Wars novelist. His new book hit shelves on May 10 called Brotherhood and it chronicles events at the start of the Clone Wars and features the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan. Included in the book are familiar characters Padme Amidala and Asajj Ventress. You can buy the book now at the link in the show notes from Amazon. 8.Also this week, the cover for Star Wars: The Princess and the Scoundrel was revealed featuring Han Solo and Leia Organa in a romantic pose with the Halcyon Starcruiser and the ewok village on Endor in opposing corners. But trouble lurks in the form of stormtroopers charging in at the edge of the artwork. The 2018 sequel to Jurassic World takes a wild left turn as it recast's Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing as a Dinosaur Activist who is trying to rescue the Dinosaurs on Isla Nublar from an erupting volcano that threatens to destroy the island. She is doing this with the help of Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), and the original partner of John Hammond. Directed by J.A. Welcome the newest episode of Dark Discussions, your place for the discussion of horror film, fiction, and all that’s fantastic. With 2015’s Jurassic World, it showed that dinosaurs were still hip. Not only a big box office draw but also a critical success. Colin Trevorrow, the original director, along with his longtime screenwriting partner Derek Connolly, co-wrote the script for the new 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Spaniard director J.A. Bayona takes the reins bringing back leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in what has turned out to be another box office success. Three years later, after the original park has been abandoned, a volcanic eruption happens upon the Costa Rican island that the dinosaurs inhabit. Claire Dearing, with the help of Owen Grady and the Lockwood Corporation, decide to try to save the dinosaurs and transport them to another island for safety. But nefarious forces are at works where they not only want to take the dinosaurs for their own corporate reasons, but also plan to murder anyone who is in their way. This new movie, though receiving much harsher reviews, has become an international box office sensation. Many critics feel it is silly and a bit of a retread to the prior films, but audiences are lapping it up with enthusiasm. Lava Finds a Way This week on the podcast Johnny and Brian travel back to Isla Nublar to see what is happening with those pesky dinosaurs clones. Then they spend the episode reviewing the latest Jurassic World outing. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) Summary Three years after the incident at Jurassic World, Isla Nublar has been abandoned. A small team of mercenaries arrives on the island to collect DNA from the Indominus Rex, whose remains lie at the bottom of the park’s lagoon. After sending a bone fragment to the surface, the team is attacked by the park’s Mosasaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex. As the team barely escapes, the lagoon gate is left open, allowing the Mosasaurus to escape into the ocean. In the United States mainland, a U.S. Senate hearing debates whether Isla Nublar’s dinosaurs should be saved from an impending volcanic eruption. "Your [filmmakers] were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." –Dr. Ian Malcolm The fourth installment of the "Jurassic Park" franchise from 2015, "Jurassic World," is yet another mediocre sequel to the original 1993 masterpiece. The story is unoriginal, the characters are annoying cartoons and the special effects aren't even as realistic as the first one, despite 22 years of CGI advancement. Chris Pratt plays Owen Grady, a former Navy dude who now trains attack Velociraptors for a super shady Blackwater-esque organization, but somehow he is shocked that his employers have plans to use the raptors for exactly what he trained them to do. Bryce Dallas Howard plays Claire Dearing, the Jurassic World Operations Manager who somehow directly oversees every single aspect of how the park runs, including genetic development and security, but after disaster strikes, we find out that she has virtually no knowledge of many of her areas of responsibility. Vincent D'Onofrio plays Vic Hoskins, a stereotypical militaristic bad guy character who brazenly uses Claire's accidental unleashing of a genetically-engineered super raptor in order to field test Chris Pratt’s raptors. B.D. Wong plays Dr. Henry Wu, a geneticist who worked at the original Jurassic Park and is now inexplicably a villain bent on creating murderous super dinos FOR NO REASON. Irrfan Khan plays Simon Masrani, a Richard Branson-esque billionaire playboy who took over the dinosaur park business after John Hammond's death. Jake Johnson and Lauren Lapkus play grating employees in the park's control room who make viewers of the film want to claw their own eyes out and deafen themselves. Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins play the Mitchell boys, two moron kids who repeatedly disobey Jurassic World's rules and land themselves in extreme danger.
