This is a little bit of a different format than the traditional podcast. Craig Eliot was giving a presentation to the Southern Colorado Press Club of which our host Dave Moore is a part.Because the news of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of North America calling Pueblo home is so exciting, Craig has allowed Dave to share his presentation on the podcast. It's a community conversation. The Leonardo da Vinci Museum of North America is an expansive science and art focused museum to explore the genius of Leonardo da Vinci's contributions to our world. It is not meant as a history museum solely focused on the man himself. The museum location will be at next to the Pueblo Convention Center and Historic Arkansas Riverwalk. This 18,000+ sq ft space will include exhibits, a gift shop and outdoor Cafe Leonardo. Future expansion will include the restored Centennial planetarium. They are hoping to launch by late fall 2025.
Instead of literary poetry, here's a little SciFi. This is a Dave Moore song about R. A. Lafferty, the electrician turned daft Speculative Fiction writer, whose stories often sounded like they were spoken by an intoxicated man at a bar who needs just one more drink to wrap up his tale. This is older piece, recorded as the Parlando Project was starting, that I remastered today in order to finish our St. Patrick's Day series honoring Irish-American writers. The Parlando Project normally takes various words (usually literary poetry) and combines them with original music in differing styles. We've done over 800 of these combinations, and you can hear any of them and read what we write about our encounters with the words at our blog and archives located at frankhudson.org

The episode focuses on the valuable work of the Africa Fire Mission (AFM), and features three guests: Dave Moore, AFM's founder, Nancy Moore, cofounder, and Jose Ngunjiri, fire safety officer for AFM. They shed light on their mission to provide training and resources to fire departments in developing nations, primarily across Africa. They delve into the gap in understanding and the critical nature of respect between communities and fire services. They also emphasize the importance of education, advocacy, and data collection to improve response times and fire prevention strategies. Listeners will learn about on-the-ground approaches, including how grassroots education initiatives and open data sharing can transform community engagement and fire safety outcomes.

Whenever my Today FM colleague Dave Moore and I get in to the podcast studio, we talk A LOT about music. We're both completely fascinated by things like how compositions are structured, the formula behind a great pop song, what makes a great producer, that kind of stuff. The last couple of times Dave was on the show, we held back a few bits that we didn't have time to include in the final edit, and Ive wrapped them up for you here in this special ‘unheard-bits' episode. First Dave tells us the story of a life changing moment for him, when his music caught the attention of one of the world's biggest bands. Then he talks about his obsession with thrash metal and why he believes it is such a great style of music – and he's quite convincing!
Like many of the Town squad by all accounts, host Chris was struck down by illness last week and so there are two games for our panellists to catch up on tonight. Firstly the self-proclaimed play off battle with Crewe a week ago in which Town came up short with a 2-0 defeat and that is followed up by Saturday's disappointing loss at Ian Holloway's Swindon, and one that marked The Mariners much beleaguered ex managers 1000th career game. The guys pick the bones out of the back to back defeats and try to find perspective and context after what many described as our worst performance of the season to date. Dave Moore's recently announced retirement is then touched upon before fellow Town fan and host of the ‘Fourth Tier Fever Podcast' Jordan Richards joins the show to help preview Town's busy Christmas schedule with four games coming up in just twelve days. For our 800th official release I've chosen this, with words and music by the Parlando Projects alternative voice, Dave Moore. Dave sings this and plays keys, just as he did in the earliest days of this project, and its predecessor the LYL Band. "The Fade" is an unusual rock song, even if you file it under "Indie" or "Alt Rock," because it talks about something a genre associated with younger people doesn't: aging, its infirmities, particularly memory loss. I think of Dave's lyric here as being in the tradition of the Velvet Underground: like the songs on their famous 1st LP, Dave's song describes something not often sung about while making no judgement or framing it in any sentimentality. The Parlando Project takes various words (usually literary poetry) and combines them with original music in differing styles. We've done this for over 8 years, and you can hear all the released pieces and read what I wrote about our experience with the words at our blog and archives, which is located at frankhudson.org

Many people know Philadelphia for the Declaration of Independence, Rocky, and cheesesteaks. Philly's deep musical history is less familiar, but its influence continues to inspire audiences and artists across the globe. For Carol Muller's graduate-level ethnomusicology field methods class, students focused on documenting the city's Black music history, interviewing figures ranging from Grammy-award winning hip-hop producer Jahlil Beats to Marc Cressman and Anthony Tidd of the Ars Nova Worskhop to radio icon Dyana Williams. The class also produced a podcast based on the book There's that Beat Guide to The Philly Sound by Dave Moore. Each student created an episode based on a chapter of the book, including music samples to make the material more accessible to all audiences. The class was part of the Paideia program at Penn, which is focused on educating the whole student. Paideia funded some of the guests, and other research interviews were supported by a Klein Family Social Justice Grant. Muller, a professor of music, has been teaching the field methods class since 2001. Supported by the Penn Global program, she recently has spent time in Australia working with aboriginal leaders— an experience that she says has helped her re-think the focus of her field methods class. The course now centers around deep listening and working to understand the relationships between humans, non-human animals, and the environment. “To fully grasp human sound production, we need to expand how we see, hear, and know the world,” she wrote in the course description. Hear from Muller and graduate students Kwame Ocran and Yuri Seung about the experience, and listen to some of the material they created, in this episode of the Omnia podcast.***Produced, Narrated, and Edited by Alex ScheinPodcast Logo by Hemani KapoorMusic excerpts by the O'Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Meek Mill (Pr. The major objection with inculturation and music at Mass that causes the most angst is the variety of unique cultural expressions that occur while singing: rhythmic swaying, clapping hands, and dance-like movements. These are often seen as irreverent but, in many cultures, are actually forms of prayer and joy-filled articulations of worship. Worship leader and artist, Dave Moore joins Deacon Harold to talk about music at mass and how it can enhance our connection to God.
