Ryan Huff from One Run Records joins us again but we're not sure he knew what he was getting into this time... We decided February was a fine time to look back at Demon's Souls from Milan Records, and work our way through the trauma. This game may have launched not one but two genres of media: "souls-like" games and "souls-like" music! Composer Shunsuke Kida gets way out of his regular discography to bring us intense-Latin-choir-ala-Dante-Alighieri, and quiet understated themes of quiet and dark reflection. Some of what we discuss is hearsay (because we're bad at the game) and some of it is grammatical. (No, we do not finally solve the apostrophe thing.) Next, we swing to the far opposite side of the mood spectrum with Astro Bot Rescue Mission from Fangamer. Kenneth CM Young brings forward his experience with completely joyful games like LittleBigPlanet to make even the darkest moments of Astro Bot colorful and adorned with blinky digital eyes. We discuss Sony's relative success of using pack-in games to demonstrate new tech functions in a way that rivals or even surpasses Nintendo. We stop short of singing the praises of Astro's Playroom, which is not yet on vinyl... but we will bide our time. New releases and news bring up the middle section, with a quick solo dash through the newest vinyl your money can buy (links below), and we all reflect on the relative benefits and drawbacks of the now-biannual Record Store Day. Questions have arisen whether it helps or harms independent record store owners. We also observe that it doesn't tend to touch video game releases, and whether that's a good or a bad thing. Nach dem Sony mit der PlayStation die vergangenen Events ausließ - E3 2021 und gamescom - war es nun endlich mal wieder soweit: Ein eigenes Event um kommende Titel vorzustellen! Manche davon erscheinen sehr bald, andere verteilt im kommenden Jahr und wieder andere befinden sich noch früh in der Entwicklung. In den 40 Minuten gab's zwischen Neuankündigungen von bisher unbekannten Titeln, auch Fortsetzungen die nicht überraschend sind und dennoch heiß erwartet werden. So werkelt Insomniac Games am 2. Teil vom Spinnenmann und holt sich ebenso Wolverine ins Studio. Kratos wird Ragnarök im nächsten God of War auslösen. Ein Remaster von Alan Wake erscheint erstmals auf der PlayStation - gleiches gilt für Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - wobei es sich hier um ein Remake handelt.  Fans von Gran Turismo 7 hoffen auf den März 2022 - denn dann soll die Rennsiumlation auf die Konsole losgelassen werden. Los ließ auch Square Enix mit Forspoken. Aus der Großstadt und durch's Portal ging's in eine fabelhafte Welt. Der Trailer machte Lust auf mehr! Das war noch nicht alles was es zu sehen gab auf dem PlayStation Showcase. Alex und Marco sprechen über jedes gezeigte Spiel, was wir eigentlich nicht wollten, es aber dann doch taten - ihr verpasst also absolut gar nichts! Außerdem sprachen die beiden über Musik - mehr noch über Soundtracks und wie wichtig einfach die musikalische Untermalung in Medien ist. Oftmals mit zu wenigen Worten wertgeschätzt und doch geht's überhaupt nicht ohne. Ohne Job ist ab jetzt auch John Gibson, ehemaliger Geschäftsführer von Tripwire Interactive. Der Typ hat nämlich eine ziemlich beschissene Meinung zum Thema Abtreibung und den jüngsten gesetzlichen Änderungen in Texas, USA. Im Podcast selbst war es schon schwer auf das Thema zu lenken und einfacher ist es hier nicht ... es ist ehrlich gesagt unmöglich für mich eine Brücke hin und und davon weg zu bauen. Daher hier ein knallharter Schnitt. Marco versprach im Podcast euch noch Diggers Factory zu verlinken, dort kaufte er nämlich seine Soundtracks auf Vinyl. Das ist damit erledigt und wie immer sprachen wir auch über die Spiele die wir zuletzt spielten! Marco setzte sein Abenteuer in Returnal fort, begann ein neues in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart und entspannte in Golf Club: Wasteland auf einer zerstörten Erde - auf der die superreichen vom Mars Golf spielen. Alex tauchte tiefer in Final Fantasy ein. Zum einen spielte er den 14. Teil konsequent weiter und hat sich ebenso vorgenommen den 6. Teil durchzuspielen! Das wird ein langer Ritt und wer mag schaut sich das auf unserem Kanal im Let's Play an! Ein Hinweis in eigener Sache und zur Korrektur: Das Konzert von dem Marco sprach war nicht wie im Podcast erwähnt in der Live Music Hall sondern in LANXESS Arena.

PortraitCette semaine, Jeanne Lacaille brosse le portrait de l’artiste afghane Kubra Khademi, qui lutte pour le droit des femmes avec ses œuvres et ses performances subversives. Kubra Khademi est née en 1989 dans la province de Ghor, en Afghanistan, alors en guerre et soumise à la tyrannie des talibans, une situation où les femmes sont interdites de tout. Mais Kubra Khademi n’accepte pas sa condition, et refuse un mariage forcé pour aller étudier les Beaux-Arts à Kaboul puis à Lahore au Pakistan où elle réalise ses premières performances. Après une performance controversée vu comme une insulte à l’islam en 2015, Kubra Khademi est en danger de mort. Elle s’exile alors au Pakistan, puis à Paris, où elle réside aujourd’hui, soutenue par l’”Atelier des artistes en exil”. Aujourd’hui, elle continue à lutter à travers son art, et actuellement dans une exposition personnelle à la galerie Eric Mouchet à Paris jusqu’au 3 avril. On peut y retrouver une déesse qui défèque, ou une femme qui fait cuire un pénis géant en guise de méchoui, qui détourne l’image populaire du berger afghan.Musikactu : Manu DibangoUn an après sa mort, Bintou Simporé rend hommage à Manu Dibango, avec la rediffusion du classico “New Bell” de 1972, un titre sorti dans la période “Soul Makossa” mais pourtant très différent de ce dernier. Cách đây hơn 40 năm, Jacques Brel vĩnh biệt cuộc đời dù chưa ngoài 50 tuổi. Tháng 10 năm 2018 vừa qua là dịp tưởng nhớ nam danh ca người Bỉ. Tuy là ngày giỗ năm chẳn, nhưng sự kiện này lại ít được giới truyền thông Pháp chú ý. Thà trễ còn hơn không, sau album của Maurane, một tuyển tập khác vinh danh Jacques Brel vừa được phát hành vào tháng Tư 2019. Mang tựa đề "Ces gens-là" (Những người như thế), album này được trình làng hồi trung tuần tháng Tư, tập hợp 13 bài hát nổi tiếng của Brel qua phần trình bày của các giọng ca quen thuộc trong làng nhạc Pháp. Ngoại trừ các ca sĩ Bernard Lavilliers, Michel Jonasz và Marianne Faithfull, thành danh từ đầu thập niên 1970, hầu hết các giọng ca còn lại đều thuộc thế hệ sau này, chưa ra đời vào lúc Jacques Brel đạt đến tột đỉnh sự nghiệp trong giai đoạn những năm 1965-1966. Những bài hát bất hủ như Amsterdam, La chanson des vieux amants, Quand on a que l’amour, Ne me quitte pas (If you go away) do đã có hàng trăm, thậm chí hàng ngàn phiên bản trong rất nhiều thứ tiếng (trường hợp của If you go away), cho nên giai điệu tưởng chừng là dễ hát nhưng thật ra không dễ một chút nào. Làm sao tìm được một lối trình bày mới hay ít ra diễn đạt một cách khác, khi biết bao nghệ sĩ đi trước đã từng làm. Về điểm này, có thể xem như là đã thành công phần trình bày của các nghệ sĩ xuất thân hay gợi hứng từ dòng nhạc jazz. Ca sĩ Zaz có sở trường hát nhanh, cô thổi sức sống vào tiết mục biểu diễn của mình (bài Bruxelles) khi chọn lối hoà âm theo điệu nhạc jazz skiffle (một thể loại có từ những năm 1950, phối hợp nhạc jazz với nhạc folk) với đặc điểm luôn sử dụng các vật dụng đời thường để biến thành những ‘‘nhạc cụ’’ tùy hứng, tạo ra những âm thanh khác biệt với nhạc khí truyền thống. Còn Thomas Dutronc con trai của Françoise Hardy & Jacques Dutronc trung thành với dòng nhạc du mục đã cố tình làm cho nhịp điệu bài hát (Vesoul) chậm lại để đan xen vào đó rất nhiều nốt nhạc phá cách. Phiên bản của anh coi vậy có phần xuất sắc hơn cả bài hát của Maurane. Hoà âm cũng như lối diễn đạt lại càng tinh tế hơn trong các phiên bản của hai nghệ sĩ nổi tiếng của làng nhạc jazz quốc tế. Trên album này, Melody Gardot ghi âm lại Bài ca của đôi tình nhân già (La chanson des vieux amants) còn Madeleine Peyroux thì diễn đạt rất trội nhạc phẩm ‘‘Voir un ami pleurer’’ (Nhìn bạn tôi khóc). Mỗi người một vẻ, nhưng cả hai ca sĩ người Mỹ trong lối phát âm khác lạ, đem lại tất cả những nét uyển chuyển mềm mại, khác hẳn với bản nguyên tác, mãnh liệt gai góc. Tuy được xuất bản trễ hơn nhiều so với dự kiến, tháng Tư năm 2019 thay vì tháng 10 năm 2018, nhưng tuyển tập"Ces gens-là" (Những người như thế) lại rơi đúng vào thời điểm phát hiện một số ca khúc ít được phổ biến của Jacques Brel. Tính tổng cộng là 4 bài hát trong đó có "Amsterdam" và ‘‘Le Plat Pays’’ được ghi âm vào năm 1965, nhưng chưa từng được công bố. Trong giới yêu nhạc Pháp, hầu như ai cũng đều biết đến "Amsterdam", bản nhạc nổi tiếng của Brel, với giai điệu gợi hứng từ "Greensleeves", bài dân ca truyền thống của người Anh nổi tiếng từ năm 1580 và thịnh hành trong nhiều thế kỷ. Với sự hợp tác của công ty Diggers Factory với Cơ quan lưu trữ tài liệu Âm thanh và Hình ảnh INA của Pháp.Một phiên bản chưa từng được phổ biến này được phát hành trên đĩa nhựa Maxi 45 vòng vào ngày 13 tháng Tư vừa qua, còn được gọi là Record Store Day trong tiếng Pháp gọi là Disquaire Day, chủ yếu dành cho giới sưu tầm đĩa nhựa. Phiên bản nổi tiếng nhất của bài "Amsterdam" từng được Jacques Brel biểu diễn lần đầu tiên vào ngày 16 tháng 10 năm 1964 tại nhà hát Olympia. Buổi trình diễn hôm ấy được ghi âm để phát sóng trực tiếp trên đài phát thanh Europe 1, đây là bản ghi âm được phát sóng thường xuyên nhất, và được xem như là phiên bản "chính thống" duy nhất của nhạc phẩm Amsterdam, nam danh ca người Bỉ không bao giờ ghi âm bài này trong phòng thu. Chưa đầy một năm sau, vào mùa hè năm 1965, Jacques Brel đang ở trên đỉnh cao vinh quang, đã tham gia chương trình biểu diễn trực tiếp tại Đài Phát thanh Quốc gia Maison de la Radio. Trong buổi trình diễn ấy, Brel đã hát bốn ca khúc : "Le Plat Pays", "Ne me quitte pas", "Au Suivant" và "Amsterdam" với phần nhạc đệm khác hẳn, không dùng đàn phong cầm (accordion), mà chỉ có piano (Gérard Jouannest) và contrebasse (Pierre Sim). Phần ghi âm này sau đó do không được phát hành trên băng đĩa, đã dần dần bị chìm vào quên lãng. Gần đây, cơ quan INA theo yêu cầu của công ty Diggers Factory, đã cho xuất bản các tài liệu quý hiếm được cất giữ trong kho lưu trữ của mình. Nghe lại những ca khúc bất hủ của Jacques Brel, ta sẽ nhận thấy ngay là bốn thập niên sau ngày ông mất, có rất nhiều nghệ sĩ chịu nhiều ảnh hưởng của ông, nhưng vẫn chưa có một tài năng nào có thể soán ngôi của Brel, ông hoàng dòng nhạc hiện thực. Các ca sĩ trẻ thời nay tham gia vào album tưởng niệm Jacques Brel như Slimane (Ne me quitte pas) hay Claudio Capéo (Ces gens-là) cho dù có cố gắng cách mấy, thế nhưng ngạc nhiên thay, họ vẫn không thoát khỏi chiếc bóng quá lớn của bậc thầy. Lúc sinh tiền, Jacques Brel nổi tiếng là người thổi ma lực vào giai điệu, lối kể chuyện của ông sống động và cuồng nhiệt trên sân khấu, khán giả như thể bị hớp hồn, “mất vía” từ lúc nào không hay.
