Are you interested in success?  Have you been trying for a big win in your life or career?  In this episode, we dive straight into discussing how we can have RADICAL success and allow yourself to win. In this episode, I talk with Doreen Rainey, transformational coach, speaker, and CEO of the RADICAL Success Institute, joins us to discuss her RADICAL success method, and how we can have a transformation in our life, find those big and little wins, and go after the life of our dreams. This conversation is warm, inviting, but full of raw truth and honesty. Questions I asked: Does your inviting nature come naturally to you? What are some tools for having a real transformation? Why do we need to embrace the suck? How do we set goals with action steps? How important is it to not get stuck on perfection? What was the catalyst for your significant transformation? Is transformation made up of consistency? What type of transformations do you see from your conference? Do you do live coaching?   Topics Discussed: Being open and honest as yourself. Radical denial. Having a true transformation. Accepting the process, and where you are right now. Keep the promises you make to yourself. Perfection isn’t attainable. Little wins add up. Keep your gratitude. Quotes from the show: “My authenticity lies in being open and honest.” @DoreenRainey @SisterhoodSweat “Transformation is what takes place in your mind.” @DoreenRainey @SisterhoodSweat “Create the transformation so you never go back.” @DoreenRainey @SisterhoodSweat “We HAVE to be okay with the process.” @DoreenRainey @SisterhoodSweat “Self-Trust is Crucial.” @DoreenRainey @SisterhoodSweat “Perfection will paralyze you.” @DoreenRainey @SisterhoodSweat   How you can stay in touch with Doreen: Website Facebook LinkedIn Twitter RADICAL Success Institute Register for the Conference! I can’t believe this is already our 100th episode. It feels like yesterday that I reluctantly stumbled into the world of podcasting. And now, nearly two years later, here we are. If you’re new here and looking for hardcore advice on things like budgeting and investing, this is not that type of money podcast. You see, Redefining Wealth is about getting you prepared for those types of podcasts – the money ones I mean. It’s about helping you understand that wealth is so much more than just money and material possessions. “There’s much more to wealth than chasing money. At Redefining Wealth, we unpack and explore all the different ways money connects to our lives.” This episode is brought to you by Radical Success Certification Program. If you’re an emerging life coach or experienced coach who feels stuck, check out this proven, A-Z coaching framework by Doreen Rainey.  You don’t want to just become a coach, you want to run a thriving coaching business and she can show you how. Learn more and apply at RadicalSuccessCertification.com.  Knowing When Your Season Is Up To celebrate our 100th episode, I want to take you back to just before I launched Redefining Wealth.  I was in a great place. My career was going great. For the most part I was fulfilled with what I was doing. I was making good money, doing good work, helping and serving people, and yet, the truth is, my season was up.  “What if your season has long expired and you’re extending it out of fear, complacency or delusion?”  Now, I’ll be honest, Redefining Wealth was not something I’d planned on doing. The idea of starting a podcast had crossed my mind a couple of times, but it always seemed like too much work. And there was also a fear that people might not get or want it. After all, I had been known as a personal finance expert for years, and while I still incorporate the term wealth, I rarely talk about those hardcore money topics anymore. I lacked confidence. I also thought I lacked the credibility to go deeper into the money topic – to look at how money connects to all the other areas of our lives. But here’s what I learned: It doesn’t matter how credible you are on paper, what matters is how you feel. A Season Doesn’t Have to Be Bad to Mean It’s Time for a Change Sometimes we think that a situation has to be awful in order for us to move on.  But here’s the thing, purpose evolves and I don’t believe any of us are meant to do the exact same thing in the exact same way our entire lives. “We’re meant to evolve and if we don’t move when our season is up, then we go bankrupt emotionally, mentally, spiritually, financially.”   For me, I was in a space where I was content. I was America’s Money Maven. I had a weekly segment for years on the Steve Harvey Morning Show. I was doing other shows like Dr. Oz and being featured by publications like Cosmopolitan, the New York Post and Essence Magazine. I had a good name as a money expert. Why would I change all of that? How to Know When Your Season Is Up First of all, I experienced what I call the boulder effect. It started out as a pebble, as it always does. For me, well it looked like me getting annoyed going on all of these talk shows and talking about budgets and credit reports when I knew that money and wealth was much more than those things. I kept thinking, “If they ask me one more thing about a budget, I’m going to snap!” Money is not about a template, it’s about your behaviors. It’s about your mindset. It’s so much bigger than a budget, and yet, I’d go, get on the couch, smile and do what I was brought there to do. Then came the rock. My website got hacked. Not hacked in the sense that it redirected to a naughty site or something like that, but hacked in the sense that the hacker went in and deleted files and content, and changed the language. It was bad, and even though the hosting company restored the site, it was a shell of what it had been – so much of my content was gone. Then came the boulder. I received a letter stating that Real Money Answers, my entire brand, was infringing on someone else’s copyright. What?! I didn’t understand and from what I knew, I’d had Real Money Answers trademarked for quite a while. What I learned through this process, however, was that my attorney had dropped the ball, and I didn’t actually have Real Money Answers trademarked.  It was like one nightmare after another, and I knew it was time for a change. What Began as a Dream Turned into a Chore Another way I knew my season was up was that opportunities that once felt like a dream had turned into a chore. They didn’t excite me anymore. Perhaps one of my friends describes this best, “You know what it is?” she said. “I’ve tried to romanticize the fact that this thing started as a dream so that I could survive a toxic environment.” Ding, ding, ding. I know exactly what she means. As an entrepreneur, if you have consistent contracts or clients, you can chain yourself to something and start to believe that IT is your source. In all actuality though, you’re trying to force it to remain or to be the source because you want to romanticize the opportunity based on how it started out. “Not everything that starts out one way will end the same way, and not because the environment changes, but because we change.”  The truth is we can make anything look, feel or seem like a dream opportunity if we have an agenda. That’s the space I was in before finally accepting the call to let go and start Redefining Wealth. “Purpose evolves and you have the right to say goodbye to one season and hello to another – that is part of the journey.”  If I can leave you with anything, it’s to be honest and real with yourself. If you’re in the midst of a boulder effect or if you know that what began as a dream has turned into a chore, I want you to know it’s okay to surrender and accept that the season is up. Lastly, I want to add that one of my clients, Danielle Joseph, has a whole program on seasons and she further explains how you can go from one season to the next in different areas of your life at different times. Have you ever thought, I’m sweeping too much of who I am under the rug so that other people will like me or continue to like me? As a people pleaser through and through, you want to be loved, to be appreciated, to be needed. But at what cost? Join me as I sit down with motivational speaker, author and Live Out Loud founder Brooke Thomas.   In this episode, Brooke explains that in order to heal past wounds and live fully in your purpose, you’re going to have to bring something to the surface. We cover everything from Brooke’s cancer diagnosis and the changes she had to make to the life she lives now and how she shows up daily for her community.   This episode is brought to you by Radical Success Certification Program. About Brooke Thomas   At 26 years old, newly married and in the first trimester of her first pregnancy, Brooke was diagnosed with stage-three melanoma. Doctors discovered the spot at an OB-GYN appointment and told Brooke the best option was to abort the baby and have chemotherapy.   That wasn’t an option for Brooke. Instead, she opted to have the melanoma surgically removed—without anesthesia. After the procedure, she ended up with 50 stitches and an awful scar that looked like she’d been attacked by a shark. After her daughter was born, Brooke started to deal with her diagnosis and what it meant for her future. She knew she wanted to be a healthy mom and decided to dig into health and nutrition to really understand what “being healthy” meant.   For years, she became a student of healthy living—immersed in researching cancer, health and nutrition and the connection between them. Eventually, Brooke began doing monthly wellness segments for a local NBC affiliate, and began speaking at major schools, hospitals and Fortune 500 corporations.   “My cancer diagnosis shaped my heart into a more compassionate person and taught me how to manage stress effectively. As I grew stronger in following my purpose, I stepped into leading a team of women.” – Brooke Thomas   Now, a motivational speaker, author of the Thankful 30 recipe book series, and the CEO of Live Out Loud, Brooke helps women pursue their purpose with confidence. She runs a thriving online community with regular trainings on mindset, leadership and creating authentic relationships, and hosts high-level masterminds, live events and group coaching programs.   When the Questions Bubble Up   For many of us, something happens in our life—like it did for Brooke with her cancer diagnosis—where we start to ask ourselves, “Why am I doing this or that? What am I not paying attention to? What is my core purpose?”   The first pillar of wealth is all about becoming your best self and paying attention to your mental and physical well-being.   I know from Brooke’s story that she’d been scratching what she’d thought was a bug bite for months. She couldn’t see it because of where it was located on her body, but it continued to itch. After discovering that it was melanoma, she asked, “What else haven’t I been paying attention to?”   As women, we wear many hats and take on so much responsibility that it can actually be to our own detriment. We’re people pleasers and often the cog in the wheel that keeps everybody and everything going, but when we’re not taking care of ourselves or paying attention to the signs, the consequences are much bigger than we think.   “I feel like that’s what happened to me in all areas of my life. I remember thinking, ‘Hey, can we just deal with this after the baby is born?’” – Brooke Thomas   For Brooke, it was like a beach ball that she was trying to push under the water—and not just her cancer diagnosis—but parts of her childhood and relationships, too.   “God showed me in my moment of pain and darkness that there is light and that I wasn’t meant to live in fear of people or fear of anything—that the light overshadows the darkness. It took a cancer diagnosis and scratching what I thought was a bug bite, to remind me of all the things I had pretended were okay.” – Brooke Thomas   Show Up at the Highest Level   “When women show up full of love, ready to fully support one another, there’s no rivalry between them. Each has her own unique gifts. I want to be surrounded by women like that.” – Brooke Thomas   I love this and see it too in my mastermind group – Mastery + Momentum. I’m so impressed by the women in that group and all that I learn from them, even though I’m the group leader. All I can say is that to be a container for women to come together and bring things to the surface is incredible, and the level of healing that happens is unbelievable.   All the wisdom I get from my mastermind participants, makes me wonder what Brooke teaches and receives from her Elite Mastermind. One of the best bits is that each morning she decides how she’s going to show up for the day and how she wants to be showing up. Brooke doesn’t let her emotions run her calendar because when they do, they stop her from showing up the way she wants to.   Visit https://www.brookethomas.com/ to find out more about Brooke and her Elite Mastermind.   Redefining Wealth Rapid Wisdom Questions   And with that, let’s dig into Brooke’s responses to our Redefining Wealth Rapid Wisdom Questions.   Define Success: “Freedom. Freedom to really show up fully you and live the life that you want, fully.”   Define Wealth in 3 Words or Less: “Emotional abundance.”   One Book that Has Redefined How You See Wealth: “Without Rival by Lisa Bevere. I believe to create wealth – emotional or monetary – you can’t live in rivalry or in comparison with other people.”   Fill-in the Blanks … “My name is ___ and the truth about wealth is ___”: “My name is Brooke and the truth about wealth is it’s possible for everybody.”   LINKS:   To advertise on the podcast: http://www.patricewashington.com/podcastads   Become an Official Purpose Chaser: http://www.iamapurposechaser.com   Join Patrice’s Pod Club: http://www.patricespodclub.com   To check out ALL of our past guests + episodes: http://www.patricewashington.com/Listen   If you have questions about booking Patrice or sponsoring the podcast, email us at info@seekwisdomfindwealth.com.   Find me in Social Media:   Our podcast hashtag is #RedefiningWealth   Instagram: @SeekWisdomPCW   Twitter: @SeekWisdomPCW   Facebook: @SeekWisdomPCW   YouTube: @SeekWisdomPCW

“We have to accept that it’s okay to shift, just because we’ve been doing something for a period of time that we are good at doesn’t mean that you should stay where you are when you’re being called higher.”  Doreen Rainey   About Our Guest: Doreen is committed to helping others gain clarity, create a strategy and move into action so they become bold and courageous enough to passionately pursue their goals. Her clients experience significant shifts as they tap into their personal strengths to get results — in their personal lives or in business. Known for her no-nonsense, direct approach, she challenges her clients to move past the obstacles and excuses that block their forward motion. Pulling on her extensive education and experience in training and development, communications, personal growth, entrepreneurship and authentic living, they provide the foundation for the courses, programs and events that deliver the blueprint to empower her clients to take action. She’s my friend, my colleague, my mastermind partner.   Episode Summary: In this powerful episode, Doreen and I have a very candid conversation about what it means to shift.  And not just any shift, but a shift that includes reconnecting to the real creative, fearless person that you were born to be so that you experience true joy and fulfilment.  We will discuss the clues that show you that it’s time to shift and what to do so that you experience bliss in the shift. During our conversation, we will unearth some powerful clues that a shift is on the horizon. As an entrepreneur, if you are starting to question how others see you in the marketplace it’s time to have a very real conversation with yourself.   And if that is where you are now, you are gonna love the transparency of this conversation.  Listen in to discover: Three clues that it’s time to shift Five steps to guide you through your next shift The #1 thing you must realize when a shift is on your horizon The true reason why shifting is part of your success story What to do when you fall into a trap because you become good at something and how to get the courage to abandon that for the work that makes your soul sing The very important barometer check to validate if you’re in your head space or heart space When it’s time to get a coach to help you make the shift   Doreen Rainey Quotes from the show:   “Be willing to let go of good in order to experience great.”   “When your great becomes “good” it’s time to let go of it and moving on to your next great.”      “All money isn’t good money.”    “Your shift comes in the doing.”   “The shifts never end.”   “My soul sings when I do personal transformation.”   “We all have defaults that we have to learn how to shift out of.  When your subconscious mind is in control, your default will write a check that your soul doesn’t want to cash.”   “It’s easy to make a shift when you are frustrated with something.  It’s a different effort to shift because of your calling.”   “Acknowledge that your head and soul are at odds.  The head always makes sense and affects both faith and action.”   “It’s easier to shift while you’re moving than you be at a complete stop trying to shift.”      “Life is a series of shifts.”   Questions to ask yourself when you’re in the midst of a shift:   How long am I going to do something that doesn’t make my soul sing?   Is it a head decision or a heart decision driving the activity you’re doing?   Doreen’s Incredible Factor Wisdom Questions: Last book Doreen read:  “The Wisdom of Sundays.”  Oprah Winfrey { https://www.amazon.com/Wisdom-Sundays-Life-Changing-Insights-Conversations} Favorite Quote:  “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with their song still in them.”  David Henry Thoreau Tool Doreen can’t live without to grow her business:   Her Calendar!  She uses    How to Connect with Doreen Rainey: Website: www.DoreenRainey.com Instagram: www.Instagram.com/doreenrainey Podcasts: www.radicalsuccesspodcast.com | www.practicallivingministries.org   Want more of Darnyelle?  www.unlocksixfigurecashflow.com Social Media Links: http://www.instagram.com/darnyellejerveyharmon http://www.facebook.com/darnyellejerveyharmon   References: Apply for a Discovery Session with Darnyelle’s team – http://www.darnyelle.com/session Six Figure Cash Flow Club – http://www.sixfigurecashflowclub.com Subscribe to the Incredible Factor Business Podcast:   Listen on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/incredible-factor-business-podcast-darnyelle-jervey/id1450309196?mt=2   Listen on Google Play: https://play.google.com/music/listen?u=0#/ps/Iscz4wyb3llajg4klp7gjftpyky   Leave us a review Are you subscribed to my podcast? “The big separator of those who win and those who settle is what they do when fear shows up.” - Doreen Rainey This week, we’re kicking off the You Deserve More series in acknowledgment of Women’s Equal Pay Day. Each year, I lead thousands of women through 20 principles that help them use their God-given gifts to earn more money. (Learn more at iwillearnmore.com) Talking with people over the years, I have found that the number one thing that holds them back is fear. I’m sure you know that feeling all too well. You may be afraid of failure. You may be afraid of what people will think of you. You may even be afraid of your own success. Whatever it is, you’re no alone. I’m afraid all the time. Every time I start a new project, every time I step on stage to speak, I’m constantly confronted with fear. And I want to get one thing straight before I continue: fear is not bad. Fear is meant to keep you safe. Fear is meant to protect you. It’s completely natural. The difference between someone who is successful and someone who isn’t, is simply that a successful person won’t give in to the fear. When you face your fears, and start that new project it becomes the new norm. The fear will go away in some areas, but you have to face it before it will disappear. One example of that for me was this podcast. I had so many fears, and one of them was, “What if no one listens to me? What if they find my voice annoying?” I did it anyway, and this podcast has been so much more successful so much faster than I expected. And you know what else? It’s not scary anymore. In fact, I look forward to it every single week. To discuss fears further, and exactly how you can get over them, I brought you a very special guest: Doreen Rainey. Doreen is known for her no-nonsense, direct approach. She challenges her clients to move past the obstacles and excuses that block their forward motion. Pulling on her extensive education and experience in training and development, communications, personal growth, entrepreneurship and authentic living, she provides the foundation for the courses, programs and events that deliver the blueprint to empower her clients to take action. As Founder and CEO of the RADICAL Success Institute and the Vice President, Operations, Act Like A Success; A Steve Harvey Company, she is driven by a singular vision: to help people define success for themselves and have the guts to go after it. Download this episode now and learn how to identify your fears, where they come from, and how you can overcome them to build the wealth you deserve in all areas of life. “You have to define what you want for yourself and then get the guts to go after it.” - Doreen Rainey 5 Common Fears: Fear of failure Fear of success Fear of rejection Fear of judgment Fear of what ifs The Cliff Notes: We have to manage our fears. Fear is non discriminatory. Success can bring more responsibility and judgment. Those who are successful are the ones who move forward despite their fears. Know where your fears are based from. The worst case scenario of being an entrepreneur is getting a job. Don’t betray yourself to make others happy. Go out and do something big, which you already know you’re called to do, you’re just afraid to step out there. The first step of clarity is to choose what you want to move forward with. Realize that no one really cares about you. The first part of being radical is defining success for yourself. You don’t get what you want, you get what you believe. Don’t internalize other people’s opinions. “A confused mind accomplishes nothing.” - Doreen Rainey

Doreen received her B.A. from Spelman College, an M.S. in Conflict Negotiation and Conflict Management from the University of Baltimore and her coaching certificate from The Coaches Training Institute. What we talked about in this episode: How the opportunity presented itself for Doreen to work with Steve Harvey. How Doreen got  started into coaching and became "The Radical Success Coach". Defining Success for yourself. How what you believe about yourself is a big key to success. The difference from a good idea or a God idea. Small wins build confidence and momentum towards your biggest goals. How important it is that we know our gifts to achieve true success. How having a near death experience changed Doreen's life. When reaching for goals, can we be standing in our own way or could others be holding us back? When we fail our motto should be "So what, now what?"  Steps people can take to build more confidence and belief in their abilities. Ways we can empower ourselves in any situation.  How important is "jumping" as Steve Harvey would say or taking a risk on a scale of 1-10 to achieving what you want? The importance of surrounding yourself with the right people to protect your dream. Knowing your "Big Why' can fuel your dreams. Supporting each other means bringing out each others greatness and living in a judgement free zone. What I love about being a part of "The Act Like A Success' community.
