Scottish curler
POPULARITY
My guest this week is a titan in the world of British sport – Eve Muirhead, who of course won curling gold for Team GB at the last winter Olympics. Curling is that sport that absolutely grips the attention when the winter Olympics is on – and then doesn't get quite the same level of coverage the rest of the time. This episode is really about understanding that gold medal winners – or successful people of any category for that matter – are still just normal people. Achieving success or fame or accumulating wealth does not actually change you in any deep fundamental way, although not everyone sees this clearly. I have been aware of many people who have taken their success personally and it has gone to their heads and created an inflated identity – but it's a bit tragic when that happens, and is all really smoke and mirrors. And Eve definitely isn't one such person. We also discuss getting over a fear of failure, and prioritising your own wellbeing – and much more besides. ** My book Champion Thinking: How To Find Success Without Losing Yourself draws on some of my favourite interviews over the last six years. In it, I seek to challenge our ideas about 'success', and where peace, joy and fulfilment are truly to be found. 'This book captures the magic of being in flow . . . Highly recommend' RONNIE O'SULLIVAN 'Entertaining and enlightening' MATTHEW SYED 'This book will challenge your thinking on what success truly is and will give you tools to "succeed" in life in the truest sense of the world. This is definitely not just another book about sport and those who happen to be good at it' -- GOLDIE SAYERS 'The intention behind this book is beautiful, and I highly recommend it' RUPERT SPIRA 'The best guide we have to what it means to be human' AMOL RAJAN Order here: https://www.simonmundie.com/book Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Champion-Thinking-Success-Without-Yourself/dp/1526626497/ Website: simonmundie.com YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/YouTubeSimonMundie Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/simonmundie/ Substack Newsletter: https://simonmundie.substack.com/ Learn more about your ad choices. It's two years since Eve Muirhead finally got her hands on Olympic gold. The Curling skip and her team was victorious on the final weekend of the Winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022. After 4 Olympics and years of training and practicing, Eve decided to retire from elite sport after those Games - but it seems she can't stay away from an Olympic Village! The 33 year old is in charge - or the Chef De Mission - for the 36 athletes chosen to represent Team GB at the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games between January 19 and February 1 2024. And we're delighted she's our latest guest during this Olympic year on Great British Bosses from Anything but Footy! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In this week's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast, we look back at a few highlights from the podcast from 2023. During the year I was lucky enough to talk to a huge number of truly incredible guests, and the podcast grew beyond numbers I could have ever imagined. This week is part 1 of the highlights episode (there will be 2 as there was just too much good stuff to include in 1) where you'll hear from guests such as James Newbury, Peter Kelly, Felicity Cole, Terra Jackson, Hunter McIntyre, James Kelly, Lauren Weeks, Rebecca Mason, Mimoushka Kion, Dylan Scott, Jane Erbacher, Mikaela Norman (@normanmikaela), Eve Muirhead, and Josephine Perry. There is a LOT of absolute gold in this episode and even if you have listened to every single episode of the podcast in the past year, hearing these clips again can only be beneficial. If you've been one of our listeners in the past year thank you so much. I know you have limited time and an almost unlimited number of podcasts you could be listening to, so I very much appreciate you.
In this week's episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast my guest is Olympic legend, Eve Muirhead. Eve is a very special athlete. She's been to the Olympic games four times, and in the most recent in Beijing won the Gold medal in curling. What's more she is a scratch golfer, a champion bag piper, and since retiring from curling has taken on a marathon in an impressive time and podiumed at HYROX. Eve can seemingly turn her hand to anything and become incredibly good at it. She is amazing, she's inspiring, she shared so much in our chat (including lots about her mindset, her training, her Olympic experiences), and was such a pleasure to talk to. It's a truly fantastic episode with a true sporting legend. Follow Eve on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/evemuirhead/
