He's on the show to explain how Singh's campaign is responding to waning support, what's led the NDP to this point and what the party's collapse could mean for Canada's political landscape.Questions? In this episode, I break down everything Jim Rutherford said in his recent interview with Gary Mason of the Globe and Mail—and why I think this might be a game of 4D chess rather than a reckless act of frustration. I also respond to some of your thoughts on the drama. Sorry for the late upload—I was sidelined with an undisclosed lower-body injury this morning, but I'm good to go now. - Nuckhead READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/article-vancouver-canucks-jim-rutherford-elias-pettersson-jt-miller/

Jim Rutherford spoke to Gary Mason of the Globe and Mail. Essentially confirming what many have speculated. The situation with J.T.Miller and Elias Pettersson has become untenable. The team as constructed cannot compete as is. This means that one or both of Miller and Pettersson will be traded. It also likely means the end of Brock Boeser. Kevin thinks there is a lot of blame to go around. But the biggest portion of the blame goes to Rutherford and Allvin.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/shifts-and-pucks-podcast--3065338/support.
Steve Bunce has spent 40 years writing and talking about boxing for just about every newspaper and magazine in Britain – and just about every TV and radio station as well. In his career he's reported at ringside in over 30 countries and rubbed shoulders with hustlers and hoodlums, kings and clowns, journeymen and Hall of Fame fighters. To use one of my favourite lines of his, that's boxing, as they say in the trade. Steve's new book, Around the World in 80 Fights, follows on from Bunce's Big Fat Short History of British Boxing. We go through it all here, charting the crazy journey women's boxing made in his time from the likes of Deirdre Gogarty and Jane Couch starting out to Katie Taylor headlining at Madison Square Garden against Amanda Serrano, a Kiko Martinez love-in in Belfast as he returned to reminisce ten years on from his world title fight with Carl Frampton, and a cheeky text from Kenneth Egan that ensured he got the armband on an all-Irish boxing football team. There's his legendary showdown with a raging Bernard Hopkins, a discussion of how the media landscape has shifted massively during his four decades in the business, memories of his dalliances with the hardmen of Russia and a poignant story about the late Gary Mason where there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Like his book, this interview has got a bit of everything. Here's to a few sequels. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

I recently heard the Rev. Gary Mason speak about the fracture that painfully exists within American society. Although Rev. Mason isn't American, his upbringing and ministry within Northern Ireland gives him a powerful insight into ways to heal a divided nation. Longtime NewGround friends and advisors Rev. Dr. Gary Mason and Brie Loskota interview each other about their work building peace and reconciliation in the most contentious spaces. Their conversation had tremendous depth and nuance, more than we could include in the broadcast of our Trailblazer Awards on November 14, 2021. Here is their full discussion.
This week in anguish: - We finally talk about people finally talking about the Brad Aldrich case. Points include our flippant ignorance of Kyle Beach from 2008-2021, Bo Horvat and Antoine Roussel's excellent comments on the issue, and even some grudging praise for the Boston Bruins. You heard it here once, folks. - Ardella flashes her black metallic VIP library card and heads deep into the stacks to fish out Gary Mason's takes on the 2001/02 Canucks. Surely, 20 years later, this sacred scroll will reveal the answers to our current anxieties. - Spin at your leisure, Jonathan Swift, 'cause we're about to discuss the Canucks not-so-special teams. Hey-o. Satire. - Petey is struggling, and we pore over some strange stats of his to help us comprehend it. If only there was a catchy portmanteau we could use to describe weird little quirks about our ol' #40. If only. - Quick! Who's the clutch-est current Canuck? - Don't know? That's not very clutch of you. Anyhow did we not know about Daniel Sedin nipping at Wayne Gretzky's heels in a certain all-time statistic? Thanks for listening! This episode supports the Hockey4Youth foundation and HerosHockey.

Much has been written about the Northern Ireland peace process, particularly on securing the peace. However, as Senator George Mitchell commented in relation to the Good Friday agreement, “If you think getting this agreement was difficult, implementing it will be even more difficult.” Twenty-one years after the signing of the Good Friday agreement, those have proven to be prophetic words. Dr. Mason will explore what reconciliation looks like in a contested space, the power of memory and story in keeping the pain of the past alive, and how theology can move into that contested narrative in a way that brings about dialogue, honesty, and healing. He will also address the current Brexit situation, exploring how Brexit has been a very difficult experience for these two islands. Crashing the First International Conference on Innovations in Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Don and Noah discuss seeking peace amidst violence and distrust, the secular and profane, ancient enmities and fragile hopes, with Northern Irish leaders who helped to end centuries-old conflict between Protestants and Catholics, Unionists and Republicans. What, if anything, do we have to learn from their experience? Don and Noah then discuss with a rabbi and former MK and Minister, the roles religions play in prolonging and, perhaps, resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. God, country, violence, faith, hatred, love, death and rebirth: this episode has got it all! All that and the soulful Irish music of The Bloomers, and the genial good-will of Natalie Goodis! Between Belfast, Bethlehem and Beer Sheva What can Israelis and Palestinians learn from Northern Ireland? A lot, says former First Minister Peter Robinson, who devoted his life to finding peace among Protestants and Catholics. Light Out from the Nations? What else can Israelis and Palestinians learn from Northern Ireland? So so much, says Rev. Gary Mason, who devoted his life to finding peace among Protestants and Catholics. Gods of War, Gods of Peace Is religion a barrier to peace between Jews and Palestinians? Rabbi, MK and Minister Michael Melchior says that the path to peace is paved with religion. Music The Bloomers, which Haaretz rightly calls “Israel’s best traditional Irish music.” Step It Out Mary Star of the County The Clueless Tinker Ranting Roving Robin
