“More and more Iranian-supported, anti-American, Islamic terrorist cells are established on U.S. soil with the aim of eliminating key American personnel, and eliminating key American institutions and installations. This has been the ayatollah's vision from day one,” says former Ambassador Yoram Ettinger. In the 1980s and 1990s, Ettinger held a number of high-profile positions within Israel's government, from minister of congressional affairs in D.C. to director of its press office. A now retired insider and expert on U.S.–Israel relations, he regularly advises Israel and America's legislators, and produces a weekly newsletter challenging conventional wisdom on Middle East affairs.“The State Department probably still is under the delusion that the U.S. has a choice between Arab countries that abide by human rights and Arab countries that do not abide by human rights,” says Ettinger. “The choice is between pro-American Arab regimes that violate human rights or anti-American Arab regimes that violate human rights.”In this episode, we dive into key realities of the U.S.–Israel relationship that are poorly understood, and the global threat posed by the Iranian regime.“The early pilgrims and the Founding Fathers, to a large extent, viewed themselves as the modern-day chosen people. They viewed this country as the modern-day Promised Land, and they considered the manner in which Moses governed the Jewish people to be the foundation for the system which they established: the separation of powers, and later on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights,” says Ettinger.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Welcome to “The Use-Case” a mini-series brought to you by Scenius Studio.Through Scenius Studio, I've interviewed 50 of the crypto industry's top GPs and CIOs across liquid and private markets. One thing is clear, crypto has some savvy investors. Yet, both inside and outside the industry, the same question lingers: where are the real-world use-cases? We've built the infrastructure, but where are the apps? What commercial opportunities can blockchain and crypto uniquely unlock? Is speculation really the only game in town? With The Use-Case, we're spotlighting underrepresented companies and protocols that are building real, commercially viable businesses—ventures that couldn't exist without crypto's underlying technology. We'll sit down with Founders and CEOs who are reshaping industries with blockchain at their core. Crypto isn't just an asset class. it's an enabling technology rewiring entire sectors. In this episode, I sit down with Ray Lee and Ian Ettinger, Co-Founders of Daisy. With deep experience in digital marketing and paid media, they've built a product that helps marketers drive results in an online environment that's increasingly opaque and competitive. By discreetly using crypto tooling: zkTLS, stablecoins, and token incentives, Daisy is carving the path for the future of online advertising. I hope you enjoy learning about the future of marketing with Daisy. Let's get into it. Mijal and Noam dive into the complexities of religious Zionism in Israel with renowned journalist, Yair Ettinger. They explore the historical roots of the movement, from the pragmatic vision of Rabbi Reines to the messianic approach of Rabbi Kook and discuss how these ideologies helped shape modern Israeli society. They ask tough questions, including why figures such as Meir Kahane are resurfacing in popular discourse. With the rise of hardline religious Zionist factions, Mijal and Noam delve into what religious Zionism means today, its diversity and its role in Israel's security, politics, and peace efforts. Frayed by Yair Ettinger Click here for Yair Ettinger's full bio. Over the last 16 months, many corners of the Canadian news media have portrayed Israeli society in very broad, generic terms, frequently depicting them, or at least large swathes of them, as seeking to-settle Gaza, for example, and to expel Gazans. But hardly surprisingly, it turns out that such views are remarkably marginal in Israel, though news coverage has suggested otherwise. In so doing, news outlets have framed Israelis as being extremist and fanatical, when the reality is very different. To help us wade through the truth about Israelis, and what much of the Canadian news media either doesn't know or otherwise has shown little interest in explaining, we are joined by Yair Ettinger. He is an Israeli journalist with a focus on religion in Israeli society, a former fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, and the author of the book Frayed: The disputes unraveling religious Zionists. Yair joins us as our guest this week.

Orit Mark Ettinger has been through a lot. She lost her father in a terrorist attack (a Hamas terrorist who was released during the Gilad Shalit exchange), her brother while serving in the Mossad, her cousin rescuing Jews on October 7, and her brother in Gaza. Yet, she radiates faith, light, positivity, and hope. Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier, was captured by Hamas in 2006 and held in Gaza for over five years, sparking widespread public campaigns for his release. In 2011, Israel secured his freedom in a controversial deal, exchanging 1,027 Palestinian prisoners, including those convicted of serious crimes. While his return was celebrated as a national priority, the high cost of the exchange raised concerns about security and future kidnappings. The controversy in Israel over the exemption of ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students from military service "has reached a boiling point," former Haaretz journalist and author Yair Ettinger tells host Allison Kaplan Sommer on the Haaretz Podcast. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has continually delayed confronting the issue in his years in power, Ettinger notes. But this week, the High Court's deadline for either enshrining exemptions in legislation or enlisting yeshiva students expired. And it did so during a war in which Israelis serving in the army have made tremendous sacrifices, and amid severe discontent with Netanyahu's coalition, which depends on ultra-Orthodox support. And so, Ettinger says, Israelis who disliked but tolerated the ability of the ultra-Orthodox to avoid army service in the past have now "run out of patience." "There is a big dissonance in Israel right now regarding the Haredim. Why? Because they are at the peak of their political power, and yet they don't share the duties [of defending the country]." On one hand, "they are the government. They have been the senior partners of Netanyahu for many, many years. And now, when we have an existential moment, and we are fighting a really difficult war, they don't pay any price." Ettinger, author of the book, "Frayed, the Disputes Unraveling Religious Zionists," also looks at how the judicial overhaul battle is inextricably intertwined with the military exemption controversy, and discusses the growing rift in Orthodox society over religion and society, the role of women and tolerance of LGBTQ individuals. That rift, he says, is exemplified at the Pride Parade each year, where "you can see many religious Zionists marching and many others [among] them protesting against the parade." He also notes that while the Gaza war has underlined the cracks between secular Israelis and their Diaspora counterparts, "the opposite is true" among the Orthodox. "Today, they are closer than ever," Ettinger says.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As the war in Gaza rages on, the influence of the Religious Zionist party, led by figures like Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, looms large over the direction of the Israeli government. With key ministerial positions in hand, they wield considerable power in shaping policies not only concerning the ongoing war but also regarding broader societal issues such as military service, national identity and economic affairs. Today, we're going to take a close look at this pivotal shift in Israeli society with our distinguished guest, Yair Ettinger, an Israeli journalist and the author of the illuminating new book, "Frayed: The Disputes Unraveling Religious Zionists", Ettinger's work provides invaluable insights into the challenges facing the Religious Zionist movement, which has become increasingly influential within Israeli politics and society. Amidst the turmoil of war and political maneuvering, many questions arise about the future direction of Religious Zionism and its impact on the broader Israeli landscape. Ettinger is an award-winning journalist, with decades of experience. Frayed has won the 2021 Hillel Kook Award and is a finalist of the Jewish Book Council. He was a journalist for Haaretz newspaper for 20 years and today, he's one of Kan's commentators on Religious affairs and writes for various outlets such as Ynet. We are super thrilled to be joined by Yair Ettinger on this episode of the Two Nice Jewish Boys podcast.
