Season 3 kicks off with a special episode featuring three artists, Gloin, NO WAVES and Frankie Rose, each at different points in their careers. What unites them is they all performed this past February at Montreal's Taverne Tour, the annual, eclectic, Plateau-based festival aimed to energize the music scene during the heart of the cold winter. The bands talked about the challenges of being an artist these days, from the difficulties of making money in the streaming economy, to having to brand yourself and the tribulations of being on the road. Host Aviva Lessard also touched base with the festival organizer, Mothland, who also manages artists, runs a label, and promotes live shows. They were excited to be back in business with Taverne Tour after a pandemic pause. Gimli, son of Gloin--such a diamond in the rough, a geode with glittering crystals hidden inside. A glittering crystal that burps and farts, mind you. My kind of guy.
Being the one hundred and ninth episode of the show in which it's actually a pretty well expected journey, Bilbo is being fun traumatized, and it's pronounced Gloin, not Gloin. Sliders was a show that "the suits" wanted to bury but the fans kept it alive. Originally on FOX and canceled multiple times, the show eventually ended up on the Syfy Channel where it was unceremonsionuly laid to rest. The show was kind of like Quantum Leap but younger, hipper and starred a future dwarf. It kept the audience coming back with its alternate timelines formula as the "Sliders" "slid" into "infinite" "parallel" "dimensions". Sadly the demise of the show started with the suits and the writers inability to be creative with infinite possible story lines. If you like a show that's gets you thinking about "What if?" but has the budget of public access, then this is the series for you. According to popular opinion on the internet: The best episode of this series is season 2 episode 10: Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome While the worst is season 5 episode 18: The Seer

Gloin shows off his own misinformation by suggesting the remaining rings of power be rounded up and combined. He then asks the Elves of the remaining Dwarf Ring and if the 3 Elf Rings are still at large. Was Thror’s Ring the last of the Dwarven rings? Who has it now? Gandalf recounts the fate of Thror’s Ring. Field Trip: Wells of Langflood Skerabrygg, Sundergrot
In this episode, we discuss the most terrifying scene in any movie ever (Scary Bilbo), Tolkien finally getting his dialogue game on, and who should have been Elrond. This episode covers Book 2, Chapter 1 of The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring.
Apparently there was a glitch with one of our original episodes. Enough fans have reached out and said they'd like to hear it makes for a good episode this week. Plus, you can see how far along we've come. This episode was made when we didn't have Ted and we were new to the podcasting world. Buckle up and prepare to fly into the danger zone this week! Somehow, some way your podcast heroes managed to talk about "Concerning Flight" - an episode about Captian Janeway risking the ship to enjoy some LARP fantasy time with Gimli, Son of Gloin - for an hour. We deserve a medal for this. We are the best and you don't appreciate us enough.
Gimli son of Gloin once said "Nobody tosses a dwarf". Storm would probably give it a crack anyway, let's be honest. He also gets his beard braided on the luxurious island of Bali (very good price), where this week we venture to attempt a somewhat competitive sport - Axe throwing.Join us as we get locked in a bikie bar, stranded in Galungan and find out that the sports uniform reqired for ditchin' axes is even grosser than the braces Mel had in high school with lackies the same colour as her basketball uniform.Rules of Axe throwing are simple. No high-fives when holding the axesLoser gets an axe tattooed on their assYou know, sport. What could go wrong??
