In today's message "Gospel Joy and the Advent of Jesus" from John 16:16-24 and 15:7-11, Pastor Darrell explains how the Lord gives Gospel joy to those He's redeemed.
Around Christmas time there's lots of talk of hope, peace, joy and love. But why? What's the connection with Jesus' arrival? C.S. Lewis said "Do not let your happiness depend on something you may lose." In this message Christoph talks about how the joy that comes from God is incredibly deep, wide-ranging and eternal!

(dance in a circle) This iconic American gospel song has been energizing and uniting diverse groups of people for nearly a century. It's impossible to sing this song without moving your body and feeling a spark of excitement and purpose. It is a great song to sing with kids because the words are so repetitive, and the message is so positive! We've added some simple actions to each verse, and suggested a flashlight activity for the second time through -- kids and flashlights always seem to be drawn to each other, right? A new MP3 sermon from Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Gospel Joy for Parents of Grace Subtitle: Family Worship Speaker: James Hakim Broadcaster: Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian Event: Devotional Date: 11/10/2023 Bible: Proverbs 10:1 Length: 12 min.
Pastor teaches his family a selection from -the Proverb of the day.- In this verse of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the parent-child relationship is one in which grace to believers produces gospel joy.
Psalm 32 Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer. Selah I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity;I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found;surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him.You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you. Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
Northwest Bible Church – June 4, 2023 – 1 Thess. – Alan Conner 1 Thess. 3:6-10 Apostolic Joy Intro A. GOOD NEWS and GODLY GOALS (1 Thess. 3:6). 1. Good news of their faith and love (1 Thess. 3:6a). 2. Good news of their longing to see the missionaries (1 Thess. 3:6b): 3. GODLY GOALS of ministry: faith and love (found 25 times in Paul). Cf. 1 Tim. 1:5, 14; 1 Thess. 1:3; 5:8; 2 Thess. 1:3; Gal. 5:6; Eph. 1:15; 3:17; 6:23. B. APOSTOLIC COMFORT (1 Thess. 3:7-9). 1. Comfort in their distress and affliction (1 Thess. 3:7). 2. We really live if you stand firm in the Lord (1 Thess. 3:8). C. APOSTOLIC JOY (1 Thess. 3:9). 1. Thanksgiving to God for their faith and love (1 Thess. 3:9). 2. Thanksgiving for the strong bond of Christian fellowship, cf. (1 Thess. 3:6). 3. This joy was the fruit of the ministry of the Holy Spirit through the word. D. APOSTOLIC DESIRES AND METHODS (1 Thess. 3:10). 1. Desires: to see them and complete their faith. 2. Methods: Praying earnestly night and day, and resume the ministry of the Word. Conclusion Discussion questions: Note the close bond of love between Paul and the Thessalonians. What causes us to “really live”? What do we live for? Are we joyful when we see others standing firm in the Lord, and do we grieve when we see people falling away? Or, are we disconnected from the spiritual journey of others? How can we better promote this depth of fellowship and love within this church? Do we see the vital importance of the word to grow our faith? Does your life reflect a commitment to Scripture to help your faith mature?
Northwest Bible Church – May 14, 2023 – 1 Thess. – Alan Conner 1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 Paul's Desire Intro A. PAUL'S LONGING (1 Thess. 2:17-18a). 1. They are “brethren”. 2. Taken away in person, not in spirit. 3. “all the more eager with great desire to see your face”. 4. Repeated desire to return. B. SATAN'S HINDRANCE (1 Thess. 2:18b). 1. Satan hindered their return. 2. How did Satan hinder their return? C. PAUL'S JOY (1 Thess. 2:19-20). 1. Hope, joy, crown of exultation (19). 2. Realized at the coming of the Lord Jesus (19). 3. “You are our glory and joy” (1 Thess. 2:20). Conclusion Discussion questions: Paul had a tremendous love for the church. Do we share that love for other believers in this church? Are personal relationships important to us? How does Satan hinder our fellowship today? Paul rejoiced in their faith as evidence of God's blessing on the ministry given to him by Christ. He looked forward to the reward given by God's grace on the last day. Do we also long to be faithful to our ministries at home, work, church, knowing that we too shall stand before Christ and be rewarded on that day (2 Cor. 5:10)?

Northwest Bible Church – April 2, 2023 – 1 Thessalonians – Alan Conner 1 Thess. 1:6-9 The Transformation of the Thessalonians Intro A. THEY WERE IMITATORS (1 Thess. 1:6). 1. Twofold imitation: “of us and of the Lord” (1 Thess. 1:6). 2. Joyful imitation in the midst of persecution (1 Thess. 1:6). a. They imitated the joy of Paul and Silas. Acts 16:23-25. b. They imitated the joy of Jesus. Heb. 12:2. c. This joy comes from the Holy Spirit (1 Thess. 1:6). B. THEY WERE EXAMPLES (1 Thess. 1:7-9). 1. TO WHOM? to all the churches (1 Thess. 1:7). 2. OF WHAT? a. joyful suffering for the gospel (1 Thess. 1:6). b. evangelizing their region (1 Thess. 1:8). c. reports about their conversion (1 Thess. 1:8-9). Conclusion Discussion Questions: Why is it important that we be imitators of the Lord Jesus Christ? In what ways can we imitate Christ? How are we unable to imitate Christ? Why is being a godly example important to our witness? How can we be better examples to others? Do others see our church as imitators of Christ and godly examples?

I love my church! The Philippine church was quite possibly Paul's favourite church. Why? They had Gospel JOY, Gospel UNITY, and Gospel LOVE. The Gospel is absolutely central to everything we do at NorthernLife, and this message will encourage you to get involved.
